The Shamraat in Sefton

I will never visit this restaurant again,went last night and was given food leftover from someone else's plate,ordered thali which has a selection of curries and tandoor meats ,the seek kebab was stone cold and squashed which means it was left over from someone else's plate,we are pro chefs and know.prerty despicable ,it's the second time this has happened in Southport at another Indian restaurant .they think because you are tipsy you won't know. Out of order.

This restaurant is really good the atmosphere is lovely the staff are charming and the food is excellent, one of the best flavoured Indian meals that I’ve had, I’d highly recommend this place. Also the spices were very subtle and delicious!

My first time visiting here and I will definitely be back. The food was great and the service was excellent despite being very busy on a Saturday evening. I had lamb lazeez and it was very delicious. We all had a great evening and see you again soon.

Another great time at the Shamraat! It is an unpretentious curry shop but it does it very well and the service is attentive and speedy with good value food. If you want a traditional British style curry at the seaside, then the Shamraat is the place to be. I've been there many times and have never been disappointed.

First time at the Shamrat, we normally go to the Nepalese but wanted a change. Had an excellent meal...polite staff...yes the decor looks a bit tired but don't be put off, the meals the wife and I had were 1st class....it was quite busy but didn't wait too long between servings. We will definitely return on our next visit to Southport.

Couldn’t fault the food or service considering the restaurant was full and also sending out deliveries. The staff were on hand to answer any questions you had about the menu and were both polite and friendly. The food was amazing with loads of meat surrounded by beautiful tasty sauce, naan breads to die for and light fluffy rice. Complimentary drink on the house at the end completed a great meal.

Waited 2 hours 45 minsfor delivery and food was bland! Don't bother, I will never again. Asda Indian food in a box has more flavour! Only plus side is I did get a refund, but having to eat your evening meal at 10pm when you order at 7pm just isn't good enough. Don't offer delivery if you don't deliver.

Waited over 2 hours for delivery on a Tuesday night! Awful, don’t bother coming here. Food was average, much better Indians in Southport with MUCH better delivery times

It’s like a ritual for me to eat at the Shamratt every time I visit my hometown. Every time I eat at the Shamratt the service is great and super friendly and no matter what day you go on, it’s going to have a lot of tables full. So best bet is to book ahead to secure a table. The food is just excellent. My ONLY criticism is the texture of potatoes in the Aloo Methi, felt like they were slightly old, pre cooked and stored. A small issue but didn’t stop me eating them. Other than that, it was excellent.

Great and authentic, huge portions, really well priced. The staff are so lovely. There was a slight confusing with a order and they where so apologetic over a starter that was wrong. I think it’s the manager that came to apologies, which was not needed. The restaurant was busy and it was a simple miscommunication. Some waiting staff I have encounter in the past in restaurants would not have been like this. Even sent us home with what was left. And on a previous visit I got talking to a gentlemen about where he was from as I’ve did some traveling, really friendly staff. Go out the way to make you feel welcome! It is a smaller rustic restaurant. I like this as it feels a bit more personal. And great cheap prices!

Never had a bad meal here so tonight we decided to get a takeaway. I wish we hadn't! It arrived on time but was cold. OK its Christmas eve and they must be busy so can forgive them for that. The standard of the food though was very poor, the starters bargees and pakoras tasted like they had been cooked in burnt or off fat and the mains were bland. Unfortunately we won't be going back.

Amazing food. I would recommend this place to curry lovers. I ordered chicken madras. Pilaua rice. Onion bajees and I absolutely loved this food. It was one of the best I have ever tasted.

Ordered a takeaway from here. The food arrived cold and meat in curry was disgusting. The quality of the meat was awful. The curry was like water and tasteless. The meal was thrown together. Scared to eat incase of food poisoning. Very disappointing. Customer service is terrible aswell. Save your money

The restaurant is well presented, the staff are knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. The food was excellent and was well worth the cost. We would have paid more, it was that delicious.

We were visiting Southport for a few days and thought we would try the local curry house. Ordered a takeaway , had a beer while waiting and the owner gave me afree bottle of beer too. Food was very fresh and tasty.

Stunning curry, stayed a week in Southport and went to this restaurant twice, food was really tasty lamb was tender and not fatty, only thing I would say is the curry could of been hotter it was just warm. staff were friendly portions were a good size. We had a free shot of baileys when we payed!!

Went last night. Tucked away in a side street.Well worth searching out. Round corner from Spoons so win win! Food was awesome from pappadums to mains. Lamb tender. Waiting staff charming. Called in for a meal around 6pm and was totally impressed. Had a takeaway. The service was good and the food was received quite quickly. The portion size was adequate. Two meals, Lamb Dhansak and Lamb Dopiaza with Naan breads. The quality of the food was good, lamb was tender, but both meals were bland and lacked any spices/ Indian flavour. Overall disappointing and would not use this takeaway again.

While on a short break in Southport we were looking on TripAdvisor for somewhere good to eat indian. Sharaat was our choice and wow we were so glad we went. Set in a back st, but dont let that put you off, they made us feel welcome without being intrusive. We just had Popadoms two curries, rice and Naan, and while the portions weren't huge, there was enough not to feel over full. The curry was amazing , one of the nicest we have had in a long time. My husband had a Lamb dish, which can be tough sometimes, and it was so soft and tender with an amazing flavour. We will return next time we are up this way. Thank you Sharaat.

Ordered a take away for 4. It arrived quicker than expected and the delivery man was very friendly and pleasant. The portions were generous, without being overwhelming. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we would use this service again.

Got our first Shamraat takeaway after lockdown (and since officially moving to Southport). The service on the phone was very helpful and such a lovely and friendly manner. They even gave us a free bottle of wine and kept me updated via text throughout lockdown. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals (I've been eating their butter chicken dish since I was a kid and I'm now 28). Best Indian restaurant in Southport!

After what seemed like months, the phone call we had been waiting for finally came, it was the boss saying they are back open for takeaways, so the next night we placed our order, well it would have been rude not to, pleased to say the shut down has not affected the faultless quality of the best curry house in Southport, not so much a review but a welcome back, my wife and i have missed you, and our regular curry fix.

Friendliest restaurant I've ever been in. Very handy central location tucked one street behind Lord Street (main street that runs through the centre of Southport). Greeted by smiling staff who were quite chatty and you can tell they love their jobs as they delivered top notch service. Mushroom pilau is delicious. Meat was tender and the dishes all had good flavours but there was hardly any spice in the medium hot curries we ordered and sadly too oily. Good value for money so will return and try again.

We booked here because it was the best rated Indian in Southport. From outside it doesn’t look like much but the service we got was top notch and the food was delicious. I would definitely eat here again.

The staff so friendly from taking booking over the phone to arriving and leaving. Service was excellent nothing to much trouble. The food was delicious and reasonable prices for food and drink. Not from Southport but whenever we come over we visit not been dissapointed yet.

Overthe years we have loved the food in the restaurant so thought we would have a takeaway. It turned out to be the worst meal we have ever eaten we went to the pictures then phoned our order they said 35 minutes but when we arrived we waited a further 20 minutes we ordered a vegataitan thali it was full of grease and all over cooked we put it in the bin

What wow had my favourite curry Naga Lamb. They even made it Phall hot for me. Brilliant service highly recommend this restaurant, trust me I’m from Yorkshire. This will satisfy any curry fan.

We ate on a Monday evening and it was quite busy, which was a good sign. The initial impression is a bit underwhelming as the decor looks very tired. The waiters however were efficient and friendly, and the food for the most part was very good. The mixed kebabs and the chicken tikka massala balti are recommended. The mushroom and spinach bhajis were a little bland. However overall we did enjoy the meal very much.

Brilliant little Indian restaurant tucked away among the back streets of Southport. Been this place last two weeks on the run & are planning our third trip imminently. Food is brilliant the staff are great very helpful & polite, and the beer is ice cold. Excellent value for money too may I add. If in the area please give this place a try you will not be disappointed.

We visited here after reading such excellent reviews and we were not disappointed!!! We experienced a lovely friendly welcome and excellent customer service. The early bird menu (before 7pm) made it good value for money especially when taking children. We will definitely visit again when next in Southport.

Visited on Friday we booked as visited last year (as not ftom Southport) and was very busy. Again it was busy but I'm not surprised the service was top quality atmosphere great but the food was so good tasty and plentiful and reasonable prices well worth a visit we will be back

We came here for a meal had to book as it does get very busy and whilst we were there they were turning people away.The staff are very friendly and service quite quick it is quite a small restaurant but nicely set out with lovely pictures on the wall,the food arrives hot and plentiful i had the kurma which unfortunately i found to be quite bland my husband had the chilli masala which he said was delicious all in all we enjoyed the evening there

This restaurant was recommended by a friend we had a great night Food was delicious the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The early bird menu was excellent value. The drinks are not over priced. Definitely worth a visit. Next time we are on holiday in Southport we will be coming again.

Pre booked table for 4 Saturday evening, warm welcome, great atmosphere about the place. Ask owner Babu for variation on dishes and so helpful, and faultless on food quality, service and complimentary drink at end of evening. Why go anywhere else, this is an amazing Indian restaurant tucked away down side street, advisable to book than be disappointed. We'll be back.

I like it hot and the Chilli Chicken Massala didn't disappoint!

This restaurant is excellent it may only be a small place but the food is excellent. It is advisable to book or have to wait quite a while. The food is amazing.

We visited on Thursday 12th September at approx 6.45pm. The restaurant was already busy when we arrived - always a good sign. The food was delicious and the waiters were all very friendly and efficient. It isn’t a very big restaurant so we would advise booking your table to avoid disappointment!

This restaurant is unassuming but when you get your meals WOW what a surprise the starters excellent the main meal excellent,Everything about this place is great never thought we'd get an Indian meal that was so good,the flavours the staff the whole experience was great, we will definitely be going back thanks for a great time.

My friend and I popped into The Shamraat last night fir a quick early tea.

The Shamratt is situated in Stanley Street off lord Street Southport. It serves Mediterranean style food .

This small restaurant is tucked in a pretty shabby street in Southport and if passing you wouldn’t normally go in. But.........it is fantastic! The food is the of the very best quality, the portions are generous, and of course the price is very reasonable. We have used this restaurant a few times mostly for take-always which are always delicious and the order correct, which is not the case at some establishments! We would thoroughly recommend this little gem of an Indian Restaurant in Southport.
