The Seven Stars in Teignbridge

We had a mid-week dinner here whilst in the area on holiday. Warm welcome, great service, hearty food and good beers, what more could you want! Lovely pub with a relaxed atmosphere.

An absolutely charming, quirky local pub, clearly the hub of the village but certainly not intimidating to two females from ‘up North’, in fact the opposite. Great atmosphere, super friendly & very welcoming. Great homemade lasagne, salad & homemade coleslaw after a long drive here and a very, very decent Sunday lunch, with (sorry to all my Yorkshire chef friends….) an exceptional Yorkshire pudding (turns out the chef originates from Yorkshire & was well taught by his Mum) All in all, a really enjoyable, happy few days in a tiny little place called Kennford ❤️

Popped in for a quick drink as my partner recalled the place before its current incarnation. Nice beer and friendly staff. Food looked good if a little basic but it seems a small locals pub so that’s reasonable. Nice to see a pub changing to the demands of the village rather than just shutting up and becoming a house!

After a busy walk with two dogs, and a grandson in a pram, we were in need of some decent food for lunch. The Seven Stars came to our rescue, and what a lovely meal we had. Staff were great, took our order for 4 roasts and it was soon in front of us... plenty of veg on the side and extra gravy made the hungry soon disappear. So enjoyable was our food that we forced ourselves to have dessert, sticky toffee pudding with custard.. really nice. Thank you team at the Seven Stars, we now know where to stop after a hearty walk .

We were looking for a decent meal during a quick stop off as part of our journey for a holiday in Devon, we asked for some haste, and the staff went out of their way to help. The food was great, the staff were friendly and very helpful. It was a Saturday and the pub had a good atmosphere with friendly locals. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome. Ours was a quick visit passing on a long travel day and can fully recommend for this purpose, that said we would have preferred a more leisurely visit as it’s a very friendly pub, dog friendly and a very good selection at the bar. Well worth either flying or a longer visit.

Another outstanding Sunday lunch, all home cooked with the lamb being from a local farmer, even had home made mint sauce. Good local pub with friendly staff and good atmosphere. We would highly recommend.

We came here Friday evening for dinner, as soon as we entered you could tell it was a proper drinkers pub and wondered if we’d make the right choice. We ordered our food, not having high expectations. I have the full rack of ribs, slaw, fries and corn on the cob, while my partner had the steak. Two days later and he still keeps mentioning how good it was. My meal was also very nice, apart from the corn was over cooked and had wrinkled up. If we were in the area again we would definitely return and highly recommend it.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch, all home cooked with locally sourced lamb. Hubby had the Beef which was very tasty. We would highly recommend this pub. So far we have eaten here a number of times and have never had a bad meal. Always freshly cooked, if you want a good local pub atmosphere and good food you can't go wrong here.

Popped in for food whilst staying nearby. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Between us all, we had two pizzas, cottage pie and a lasagna. Pizzas were tasty, albeit not authentic. Lasagne was delicious, and so was the cottage pie. Overall a very enjoyable visit.

Fantastic pub. Was saying 50 yrs from door. On girls weekend from Launceston and Portishead. Had food all 3 days, including Sunday roast. Great food and good value. Landlord and staff made us feel so welcome. Locals were also lovely. Will definitely be back soon.

The environment of any pub / restaurant is crucial. Unfortunately this pub, at least on our visit, didn't have any. The service was bordering on rude, lacked warmth, in no way helpful, a lack of any table service etc etc. It was as if we were an inconvenience for being there. The real irony is there is a sign at the end of the bar saying "service with a smile". There was none. The food (Sunday roast) was a bit better, particularly the main, but when one of the three desserts was not available, neither were the right accompaniments for the remaining two, we were again a bit disappointed. Will not be going back.

Me and my partner were looking for some authentic local pubs with great atmosphere and this didn't disappoint...From the moment we arrive Niam and his staff were totally professional and attended to our needs...The food was superb as was the jolly atmosphere...Myself and daz would recommend this place 110%

Fabulous Pub. A real local and heart of the community feel, but very welcoming and accommodating to all. Staff very attentive, including the Chef, Fabulous menu and great prices! Will come again.

We have had several meals at the Seven Stars and everything has been lovely. £10 roasts on a Sunday and £13.50 steaks on a Friday, all perfectly cooked. The staff are excellent! Definitely worth a visit.

First time for Sunday Lunch and we were not disappointed. The beef roast was delicious, hot plates (an absolute must for me ), tasty vegetables served separately, and the best sticky toffee pudding you could wish for and for a very reasonable price. Waiting and bar staff very attentive and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend. We will be back!

We came in for a few drinks after lockdown. The manager was very rude and not happy that we were trying to have a good time. I’m all for COVID restrictions but he acted like he didn’t want to even be there.

Delicious roast beef and pork. Children enjoyed sausages and mash/chips and staff couldn’t be more accommodating bringing extra gravy and an extra Yorkshire! Only complaint was the the crackling could have been crunchier.....

My wife and I came up to Exeter for the motorhome show at Westpoint, staying at the Exeter court hotel, we took the short journey into the local village to purchase some provisions from the local shop. Right next door is the seven stars, so we popped in for a quick pint, we were immediately made to feel very welcome by the pretty blonde lady behind the bar, whose father we were talking to.

We had a fantastic lunch on a chilly November day with friends, you can never doubt the fact that you'll eat well here, the problem we often have is what to choose! I chose well today! So thank you!

Monday nights are often chef’s night off, and here they say there’s no food “just pizza”. Let me tell you, the pizza is gi-normous and really tasty. The bar staff are really friendly and the pub had a great atmosphere, even on a Monday night

My wife and I popped in here last Thursday evening the place was fairly quiet but service was excellent friendly and helful the burgers and triple cooked chips were excellent.

Came down to visit Teignmouth and came back to this hidden gem of a place.

Popped in here to have an early dinner before book club. They’ve recently launched a new menu so I wanted to try something new...great choice as usual on the menu so it was difficult to know what to select! Anyway I went for the sticky ribs with triple cooked chips and corn on the cob. It was delicious

A nice country pub with friendly and attentive service. Had the Fly and Dive and the Duck for mains; cannot rate it highly enough. Delighted with both dishes, nicely presented, strong well-balanced flavours. Good wine list - had the Malbec which was as described and for under £20 excellent. It isn't huge and so you need to book and no car park but we found plenty of street parking close by. Will be going back next time we are in Devon and so should you!

Evening meal in the Seven Stars... fundamentally I am huge believer in that people and service make an experience! Cue Tracey.. !! Gets what an atmosphere and service is the differentiator to the customer is, too many people take their roles for granted. This lady you would employ in any role in most businesses, an absolute credit to what is service and a total understanding of what people want when out !

Our first visit to this brilliant little pub in the heat of beautiful Kennford. A very warm, friendly & happy welcome from the landlady Tracey, who talked us through the food & gin menu. Luckily for us Max, the apprentice chef, was running the kitchen and he served an unforgettable lunch...The best burger & chips ever! Perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Well done & thank you Max...you are already a fantastic chef! We will definitely return and hope that Max will be in the kitchen then too!!!

We visited on a very busy Friday evening but the staff coped very well and made us feel “special”! Wonderful food, beautifully served and hot. I can recommend the Kedgeree and the sweets were delicious. We have already booked a return visit! Many thanks to all concerned!

Happened across this pub in September after going to the Kennford local store, very nice pub inside with garden at the back. Dog friendly, good selection of beers.

We decided to try out lunch at the Seven Stars, based on reading fantastic reviews- we weren’t disappointed. From the outside, this pub doesn’t look particularly special, that’s until you step inside. Immediately on entering, you are met with lots of warm smiles and buckets of welcome. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. What I liked was the fact that the kitchen uses a lot of local produce plus the fact that they were so adaptable and accommodating for my fussy 3 year old.

We have eaten here 3 times when our son has had young driver lessons at Exeter racecourse. The food is delicious. Homemade food, friendly service and a clean homely pub.

Arrived at this quirky small village pub for lunch following a recommendation by a friend. We were not disappointed! A good varied menu with lots of seasonal and local produce. The sea bream was delicious. Well worth a visit. We will certainly be coming again.

After spending a washed out day in Exeter we wanted to find a local pub to eat in ..what we found was a gorgeous pub with the most excellent food everything freshly cooked by Carly and nothing was too much trouble for the manager Tracy even our dog was given food ! We were so looked after.

Planned to stop here for dinner with the family on the way back from Plymouth and we weren't disappointed. Despite the front looking like an 'ordinary village pub' the inside and really cute beer garden with 'heated pods' was brilliant.

We chose this pub due to its close proximity to where we were staying and we were not diappointed! Lovely little village with a pub that has a hint of a tardis about it; garden area, games room and dedicated smoking area. Food was so good we ordered dessert on the strength of it and can say that both dishes were 10/10. Service was very friendly and engaging and the reading material was highly amusing! If you're down Exeter way then you should definitely visit, we can't wait to come back!

Arrived quite late after long drive on a busy weekend hoping to eat. They were very busy but accommodating and found us a table. Food was great and didn't take long despite their warning we may have to wait a while. Staff were lovely and so helpful. Perfect end to a long day.

My wife and I stayed in Kenn and decided to try the pub in the next village over. We were pleasantly surprised and so much so that we booked for the next evening as well and the food was equally as good then as well. We had our own little booth in the beer garden with our dog. Food was fresh, well cooked and exceeded our expectations. The chips are sensational so whatever you have be sure to get some! We will come back here again one day. Sorry for the delay in writing this review. Great place!

We booked two nights,and also reserved a parking space,so I phoned the hotel as we came into Dartmouth to get the whereabouts of the carpark.The phone was answered after two rings by a cheery voice who told us to come to the hotel for details.When I got to the hotel bar I noticed how busy it was,'all hands on deck' came to mind,but the girl who answered the phone cheerfully came out to the car,gave instructions and a laminated map to help us find the space,and took our suitcase to our room.Dartmouth is small,but a maze if you don't know your way around,and yes we still couldn't find the place!We phoned again and she offered to come out and show us!We declined and realised that we were feet away from the tiny permit only park.Great first impression.

My family have lived in Kennford for some time and we knew the Seven Stars before its transformation - we were impressed then but now it's even better. It's a well run, welcoming and fun pub and we love it! Fantastic pizzas baked to order as well as a very good menu. The garden is great and the events hosted by the pub are excellent. Thanks to all for the pig racing too!

Only in the area for a few days and checked TripAdvisor for recommendations. Decided on the Seven Stars and we were not disappointed. The food is exceptional, the service is superb and the atmosphere welcoming. They were fully booked and still everyone received first class treatment! All the more impressive as Tracy and John (front of house) and the chef with an apprentice, provide everything. So impressed, we are booked to go again, before we leave. A must!

This restaurant is a hidden gem, the food isn’t only amazing but the service that you receive from from the waiting staff as well as the cheerful staff behind the bar this venue was an excellent venue for a meal on our day trip.

Called in on the off-chance that they could accommodate us for an evening meal. Although full we sat in the beer garden (with heater!) and after about 30 mins ordered our meal. We had the 10oz “longhorn” rump steak, it was delicious. Top marks for making us welcome! The beer was great too!

We went to the Seven Stars before the Exeter v Northampton rugby semi final. We were a large noisy family group. The Otter beer really hit the spot and the food was great. Real pub food, Fish and Chips and Burgers. The chips in particular were outstanding, great lunch. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, Saints lost!!!!!

First visit and was very impressed with the quality of the menu - I had the mussels and they were excellent. The manager was very welcoming and chatty. Even the customers were friendly! Will definitely be back.

Lunch with friends. pub in a narrow village street with no parking at premises, could be a problem at times. One of use had skate wings which were fresh as they have to be, although the skin could have been crisper. Three of us had gammon steak which was advertised with chips, beans and pineapple relish and an egg. Steak was small but very tender if slightly salty, came with a teaspoon size of relish, two pieces of broccolli and the no chips, served with some sort of saulted potatoes which were minute in size and hard and very small portion. The egg was minute.We came to the pub because of good reviews. Left feeling it was not good value or quantity. Disappointing

We'd read good reports and were not disappointed. It would be easy to overlook this place from the outside as it appears tiny but despite the narrow frontage the pub is spacious inside. We received a friendly greeting from the staff (owners?) and some of the other patrons and got stuck into deciding what to eat - printed menu and specials board. Some of the dishes might have proved a step too far for the average pub kitchen - not your basic pub fare by a long chalk - but the chef surpassed our expectations. All the food stated to be home made, even the puddings, and I have no reason to doubt that claim.

Great service and very good quality produce. We have visited twice in a week as we were so impressed by the Sunday special that we wanted to try the main menu and it did not disappoint.

Stopped off on a Satuday lunchtime whilst travelling through to Cornwall for holiday with grandparents and 2 kids (2 and 4yo) and were so thankful to the warm welcome we received from the staff. They seated us at the table and took our drinks order straight away, they had a great kids menu selection and a wide choice for the adults. They asked us if we wanted the kids food out first which was really nice.

As visitors to the area we came across this pub by chance when looking for a dog friendly place to eat with our four month old puppy. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The food was cooked to order and excellent, I only wish we had a calmer puppy and could have stayed for pudding.

Great place in a quaint village. Visited during a week long break in the area. Food is all homemade. Tracy was very helpful and helped us make the right decision for us on our first visit. Chef even gave us guidance on how to make his chilli jam. A must taste. Brilliant place and very welcoming. We had a sunny day on our visit so sat out the back in a very quirky garden. Fantastic. Will definitely return some day. Thanks to all at the seven stars.

I've eaten some really good meals in the Stars. Service is always friendly and prompt. Good selection of food and the Jail Ale is always in good condition and quaffable.

Pre-booked ahead of our Easter holiday visit to Devon. Met with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff - Tracy and John. Service impeccable and great food to boot. Unassuming from the outside but an amazing bar and food selection inside; particularly enjoyed the sharing meat platter and the duo of lamb with tsatsiki was sensational. Thoroughly enjoyable meal with a lovely after dinner G&T;, served perfectly !

Un gong para este pequeño gran pub familiar de Exeter Living. Llamado por casualidad al pasar por el pueblo. Pequeño bar familiar de media terraza que tomaron de una cadena hace 4 años. Aparentemente muy exitoso y los locales tienen el buen sentido para apoyarlo. (Un pueblo con un pub agrega 15k al valor de tu garfio). Gran equipo, magnífico perro de pub y nuestro sencillo almuerzo ligero fue muy bueno, que disfrutamos en el agradable y soleado jardín trasero, pero que contamos con calefacción en las pequeñas cabañas para esos momentos fríos.

Daniel Dadoe might have written a review in 1720 about this wonderful hotel. It must have been a high rating since the current proprietor namedma room after,him. This was my first time in this wonderfully located property. The old town is easily accessible by foot. My room was clean and comfortable, great shower. The front desk staff, each one, were helpful in a cheerful way. I ate in the pub several times. It was satisfactory. I wish I would have eaten at TQ9 or the cellar restaurant, other than breakfast. Absolutely stunning room.
