Popped in on a busy Saturday afternoon and although the queue looked long we were quickly served. Ordered fish and chips and fish bites and chips. Very generous portions we should have shared chips. Loved that you add your own salt and vinegar. Lovely batter, chips were tasty and fish cooked well. Would recommend.

Visited 4th April - 4pm table for four. The Restaurant Manager, Lisa, was informative, welcoming, friendly and ran a team with the same qualities. Felt completely at ease dining in a comfortable well decorated restaurant with fantastic views. Food was very high quality - the best meal we've had out for years (we’ve dined at some exclusive places with meals costing at higher prices than Seaview). It was so good we’re already booked in for next week before our holiday finishes.

Very deceptive from the outside. Looks very much like a standard fish and chips takeaway but go through the right, up the stairs and enter a lovely fresh open dining room with great views out to sea. We ordered the renown crab sandwich and fish and chips. The sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever tasted. So fresh with layers of flavours beautifully balanced. The fish was wonderfully fresh and beautifully cooked with crisp light batter. Due to the limited number of tables and reputation we would highly recommend pre booking. We arrived at 11.30am on a cold midweek in Feb and there was a queue and within minutes they were full. We cannot recommend highly enough. Certainly the best food on the east coast.

Booked lunch for four, average food at best, the portions were generous but no better than any other "Chippy" we have been to. Had to wait downstairs by entrance as table not ready - previous diners still eating!- View was ok but really not worth the price or average food. One meal included salad which had to be asked for - then slapped on table in a bowl half way through meal. We will go somewhere next time in Saltburn

Seeing as this place was the highest rated chippy in the area (by a long shot) we thought we’d give it a go. We joined the ever growing queue to the takeout section at the bottom and placed an order for fish and chips + fish bites and chips. Not sure if it was a one off but the waiting time after placing our order seemed quite a long time. The lady said chips would take longer. Anyway, the portions arrived and the fish was pretty big, it was tasty and what you’d expect from a takeaway chip shop. I did find the chips to be a massive let down though, they were uncooked and a bit stodgy. I think this is a result of rush cooking them as the queue was getting longer and longer. You get a very big portion of fish bites too so be aware if you only want a quick snack. Overall 4/5. I’m sure the chips being undercooked is an issue that doesn’t happen too often.

Having waited 10 minutes today, downstairs in the foyer, where we are assured that there is a camera we gave in. Neither sight nor sound of anyone to advise on table availability, I suppose the couple behind us may have been seated earlier but you have to worry about the customer service once seated. I am sure they will do fine without me future custom.

Quite expensive. The menu was disappointing but I guess we have to take responsibility for not checking. Adults are not allowed to order the sausages that are offered in the walk in chippy part of this business. Kids can have a kids sausage meal but adults are only allowed one of the fish options. Or just chips. Seems silly and took the shine off the experience, especially my friend who doesn’t eat fish. Go somewhere else you say? Yes, we do now. Haven’t been back here and unlikely to. The dining room was very noisy.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Saltburn, The Seaview Restaurant offers a dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds while treating patrons to a breathtaking coastal panorama. My recent visit to this culinary haven left me satisfied, though not without a few nuances. Let's start with the star of the show—the fish and chips. The Seaview Restaurant has truly mastered the art of this British classic. The golden, crispy batter encasing the flaky fish was a symphony of textures, and the accompanying chips were a perfect balance of fluffy interior and crunchy exterior. Each bite transported me to a seaside culinary paradise, making it evident why locals and visitors rave about their fish and chips. The real showstopper, however, was the view. Perched on the edge of Saltburn, The Seaview Restaurant lives up to its name with an unparalleled vantage point of the ocean. The expansive windows allowed diners to soak in the mesmerizing scenery, transforming the meal into a visual feast that perfectly complemented the delectable dishes. While the food and view undoubtedly stole the spotlight, the service was slow. Although the staff was friendly and accommodating, the pace of the meal left room for improvement. However, it's essential to note that the breathtaking backdrop and the scrumptious fare may well compensate for the leisurely service, especially if you're in the company of good conversation and a relaxed mindset. The Seaview Restaurant's commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients was evident in the quality of the dishes. The dedication to authenticity, especially in fish and chips, is commendable and adds an extra layer of appreciation for the culinary experience. In conclusion, The Seaview Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful combination of exceptional fish and chips and an unparalleled seaside view. The culinary journey may require patience due to the leisurely service, but the overall experience is well worth it. So, if you find yourself in Saltburn, prepare to be enchanted by the tantalizing flavours and breathtaking vistas that await you at The Seaview Restaurant.

Fish and chips was VERY underwhelming chips were soggy (they don't par fry there chips) and the fish had a very heavy coating of batter not allowing it to cook fully through so the batter was a cake like texture towards the centre. And this place is very expensive we had 1 starter of calamari 2 fish and chips and 3 soft drinks and the bill was a whopping £70 I don't mind paying for good food but unfortunately it just wasn't good food. Felt leaving underwhelmed, overcharged, and my wallet feeling battered !

The food is probably the most important ingredient in a restaurant with the level of service being the starter and the atmosphere, cleanliness etc the dessert. We ordered the fish and chips, both Haddock and Cod between us, together with Curry sauce and Mushy Peas. The service was good and the restaurant very clean. The food however, was average, just average and for the price we expected better. It wouldn't stop me going back again but it would be to try other food as the Fish and Chips could've been much better. The Curry sauce was again okay but nothing to write home about, the Peas were rather tasteless unfortunately.

Seaview honours the local seafood and produce to create striking, world class dishes. The menu is regularly updated to reflect what is fresh and in season. Visited Saltburn to dine at this restaurant as had good reviews. Was a 35 minute wait but it was worth it. We ordered the Hake and the Plaice with a side of truffle fries. Both were wonderfully presented and lived upto the restaurants reputation. Add in the location ( glass fronted and views of our spectacular shores), a demure but pleasing decor, pleasant and efficient staff and you have a memorable dining experience. Now been twice despite the hour drive and satisfied both times. Both dishes were around £24 but take into account the effort from the chefs and the atmosphere and its value for money. They do stock a wonderful Yorkshire made apple and elderflower tonic water that is both refreshing and complimentary to the dishes we ate for a lunchtime visit. Will be back again. Lovely seafront restaurant exceptionally busy queues as we expected for late lunch early dinner .. Unfortunately Black Sheep beer was sour and cloudy but was quickly changed for lager. The food was slow which we allowed for as it was busy 3 lots of fish and chips excellent although £2.50 for mushy peas /curry sauce is a tad excessive .. the fish pie was at best lukewarm but again the waitress very apologetic and offered to redo the dish ( it’s freshly cooked scallops salmon mussels and cod in a dill sauce with a swirl of mash in the middle ) which they did and removed it from the bill which was above and beyond really ( and compensated for the mushy peas and curry sauce !!) Worth the queue …

My wife and I visited last Sunday - what a glorious day. We had driven from York, mainly as a result of the Remarkable Places programme. We were really impressed with the lovely restaurant which was super accessible for me (I use a wheelchair), fab loo too. After a nice walk/wheel along the promenade and pier, we got the call from a staff member that they had a table for us on the balcony. All was perfect....until I deviated away from my default choice of fish and chips, by choosing the infamous Crab Brioche. Within a short while our "meals" arrived, my wife's lovely looking and generous fish/chips and mushy peas, and my minuscule looking crab brioche and basket of chips (the latter very good actually). My wife said my face was a picture, as it "dropped" when I saw the size of my Sunday lunch. The crab brioche was I would say, marginally larger than a chocolate eclair....and for 5p short of £16!! With hindsight I should have declined it and just asked for F&C to replace it. As it was my wife went half and half with me, sharing each other's meals. As a single portion the CB was little more than four mouth fulls. I was actually sad enough to review the Fred and Nadia programme on You Tube and can vouch that their portions seemed quite a bit larger.Speaking to the duty manager afterwards, she said the crab was becoming increasingly harder to source. Fine - so either take it off the menu altogether, or offer it as a £6 starter. Despite a receptive, lengthy and good natured discussion, no monetary adjustment was offered, and this resulted in me not leaving a tip, which is a shame as the staff, location, decor etc was otherwise nigh on perfect. Do go and experience this restaurant yourselves, but I'd strongly advise to give the over-rated and over-priced crab brioche a miss.

Visited on the strength of the TV coverage. Saltburn is such a great find and the whole weekend was a great testimony to the area EXCEPT the Seaview. Food was mediocre and a couple of major issues were rectified eventually, staff were lovely but woefully undertrained (try watching your customers). and clearly management ill-prepared or interested in the increased demand or expectations. “Manager” disappeared minute the last table was seated and was a no-show for the rest of service as it slowly fell apart. Biggest let down - the brioche seems to have dramatically shrunk in size compared to Fred’s and reeked of cashing-in. Pity

Visited 25/9 Saturday night Booked after seeing the TV programme back in March to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with a couple of great friends. 1st and foremost based on what we ate the food overall is excellent & I would recommend. Fantastic Oysters (had to ask for spoon for the shallot vinegar), Delightful Crab starters (forget the brioche the home made crumpets are amazing), Delicious King Prawns & wonderful Hake Kiev (far too many anchovies in the parmentier potatoes) small but super value wine list and deserts were ok although I had the Poached peach which was far from ripe and not sweet. Without going into too much detail (I'll be happy to speak to the Owner) my reasons for feeling let down are:11th hour change of reservation time by the restaurant without explanation 6.30pm to 8.00pmImpossible to contact the Restaurant by phone despite several attempts (Hope this to be an IT issue as opposed to being hung up on). Visited the restaurant at lunchtime saturday and spoke to Lisa to see if we could come any earlier. She suggested we come earlier, have a drink on the terrace to see if we could eat a little nearer to our original timeShown to dark terrace while we waited for our table (no problem we were early arrived at 7.20pm) only for one of our Wives to sit on something sharp on the chair, causing a tear in her trousers. When waiter brought our bottle of wine (great Sauvignon Blanc) we complained only to be given cushions for the seats. (should have been on the seats initially?). Reduced Menu - No Lobster, Fruits de Mer, Mussels, Scallops, Steak etc. When we queried the much reduced menu the same waiter explained that chef was unwell and didn't we receive a voice/text message? Erm No (see earlier communication issues). Didn't want Fish n Chips only Hake as Fish choice for mainWorkmen re flooring the downstairs take away shop commencing 7.30 pm causing background noise. (Appreciate can't be done during day as shop is way too busy)Overall this restaurant is pretty amazing, great food, Spectacular location, some great cheerful young staff members and has the potential to be a truly remarkable place to eat however, there were a couple too many issues on our visit for us to feel let down by the experience. We didn't complain at the time as we were celebrating and I wasn't in the mood to spoil our evening. In their defence I accept that this pandemic has left business' under resourced, short staffed and perhaps under trained with certain commodities in short supply (good job they don't sell petrol!). 3 stars is too harsh but not worthy of 4 stars this evening. (3.5 realistic) As I mentioned earlier I would recommend the Seaview and would return as I'm certain this was a one off.

But still there was enough choice for us. We had hake Kiev, with sides of salad and Parmentier potatoes, washed down with a Romanian Pinot noir that was a good accompaniment. The room is well spaced out, with thoughtful decor and good colour coordination. We had a table in the window, but at night all you see are the lights of a few distant ships and the pier. The service was friendly and just about prompt enough.Book ahead!

Sadly the hype surrounding the apparently legendary Crab Brioche, (Remarkable Places To Eat) is far from the reality. Three of us visited at lunchtime on a Wednesday. We had to wait outside for a table although not for very long...half an hour. The restaurant was very efficient and phoned us as soon as one was available. We sat outside on the balcony. Lovely views and a lovely atmosphere. The service was impeccable, all the staff extremely well mannered and polite. Shell on BBQ prawns followed by crab brioche for all three of us.The prawns were absolutely gorgeous. However we all thought the crab brioche was extremely disappointing. It was a lot smaller than we expected and although the flowers and petals added a touch of colour the flavour of the crab filling was very mild and a little bland. It just didn't pack that crabby 'punch'. We all eat a lot of crab and this just didn't cut the mustard. The brioche bun didn't look like any brioche bun I've seen before....it was more like a soft bread roll...very fluffy and insubstantial. Overall a huge letdown and sadly very overpriced.Having said all of that....the sun was shining, the view was amazing, the seating comfortable and the staff brilliant.

Underwhelmed buy this place. I love the location & service, but the food quality does not match the price. This is my second visit here.On my first visit I had the crab brioche which had very little filling & you were left mainly tasting the brioche. This is a very expensive crab sandwich & as a result I would expect a good crab to bread ratio. Definitely not how this dish appeared on tv. When I emailed them I got no response. On my second visit I had the fish & chip, due to a reduced menu. I was phoned on the morning of my booking to tell me about the change. This left me little time to make other plans, so decide to go anyway. The fish was okay, but the chips were slightly undercooked. Overall given the price vs quality, I would rather get a takeaway for half the price & sit by the sea.I wish I had not bothered to give the place another go.

We drove just under an hour yesterday having had a wonderful lunch in early August when we had to join a long queue and wait an hour for a table, but it was worth it! Lobster and scampi both delicious, and we were looking forward to more of the same. We went early yesterday and joined a shorter queue and got seated quickly - but were told as we "checked in" that there was a limited menu of fish and chips and crab brioche only as there was a problem in the kitchen. We said there is nothing on their website to say this, and were told "it's just happened." So having travelled there we decided to have lunch anyway. Having ordered our fish and chips we chatted with the lovely waitress and asked what the problem was. We were told there was an equipment problem that reduced the ability to cook to one small unit, which was "dangerous for the chefs." Most irritatingly she told us that it had been like this all week, and would continue for the rest of this week, with a larger menu only being offered to those who had booked for dinner. But not the full menu, only some "extras" they can offer in these circumstances. So anyone coming this week will not get the full experience, and are probably not being told in advance. We paid £42 for two portions of haddock and chips, one mushy peas, and two glasses of wine. To be honest it was only OK, and we would rate our own local chippy's fish much better - meatier and tastier - and the cost is surely over the top? For £1.50 more I had the lobster linguine last time! What a disappointment - I cannot help thinking that there is now an arrogance about the great reviews and television exposure ( which is what brought us there in the first place). Being honest - both on social media/ website and in person- is the only way for a business to keep its customers. We understand when problems arise, but let people know when it's more than a one off problem. It doesn't smack of great customer care - a simple pop up on the website would have helped us and we would have rescheduled our trip there. Couldn't help feeling we had been slightly "had".

We were visiting Harrogate and after watching this restaurant featured on the BBC, I wanted to book a table. I emailed back in August and received a swift repsonse from Aimee advising that there would soon be a provision on the website that would allow me to book. I checked the website each day for 2 weeks and finally there it was. I tried to book a table for two but the only availability during the our holiday was after 8pm which is just a little late for us, especially considering we had to travel back to Harrogate. The other slots must have been booked very quickly! So, we called to see what the situation for lunch was. The recorded message stated lunch is "walk ins only" so we thought we would have a stab at that. There was no provision to leave a message or speak to someone. We travelled across from Harrogate and arrived at the restaurant at 3pm hoping to miss the lunchtime biz and catch an early dinner. There was a handwritten sign on the door stating there was no availability that day. My husband went up to the restaurant and spoke to a member of staff who advised it is best to arrive at 11am - someone would take our number and call when a table was free. Now that is all fine and well and yes we know about covid, staffing emergencies and so forth but why not state this arrangement on the website. The recorded message makes no mention of having to arrive at 11am.I can only imagine that the publicity received of late has made this restaurant a busy hub and congratulations if that is the case. Please just have a little thought for us out of towners who travel especially to enjoy some lobster and chips. Only a few tweeks to your telephone message/website would be required and we could have got to you for 11am. We felt so disappointed and judging by the muttering couples and groups oustide, we were not alone.

Our first visit and had a lovely lunch on the new outside terrace. Friendly welcome and attentive service coupled with exceptional food. We both had the Crab Brioche which is wonderfully balanced marriage of crab and freshly baked bread. The crispy fries and mayonnaise are perfect. Enjoyed with a bottle of crisp Sauvignon Blanc sat in the sunshine. I had the Chocolate Fondant with a warm oozing centre and Jo had the Peaches and Cream which is vibrant and refreshing in equal measure. Will be back with friends for sure.

We asked for coffee on the outside open balcony which only had two people at one table. They said they were short staffed and full. ??... and "covid" Just the word no explination. there were several staff doing nothing but listening to us behind the counter. I said we only want a coffee outside (we usually use the take aaway) He said no. Then one of the girls, who had been stood doing nothing and listening, just like the lad with the beard, started laughing at us so we turned and left. So Sea View, we usually come to you once a week, to the take away. We spend £14+ on average. We won't be comming back, That's a fine for the bad service of the pair upstairs of £728 per year.

Wanted to visit after Fred and Nadiya visited. The crab brioche sandwiche was very tasty. A little bigger would have been nice... But that is greed the mussels were excellent too. Everything very fresh. The staff were lovely. You cannot ring in advance to book, but we went with our fingers crossed and we told we could have a table in about 1hr, they would call us. And in 1hr they did. So they will accept you from the street. If that does not work the chip shop downstairs is available.

We were back in the area to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and I always want fish and chips after a walk along the beach. It was quite busy when we arrived and we were advised it was c40 mins wait so we left a name and number and grabbed a hot drink next door whilst we waited. It was only 20 mins before we had a call and seated at a lovely window table. We’d not checked the menu before we booked and were delighted with some particularly interesting starters and had the brioche with crab and a portion of the sea trout with samphire. Both were delicious and beautifully presented and wouldn’t have been out of place on a Michelin star menu.We had haddock and chips for our mains with peas and gravy and were pleased with the portion size and quality. For our drinks we tried some delicious picpoul de pinet white which suited the dishes perfectly.Service was friendly, swift and attentive and we enjoyed the nautical themed quirky decor.

Disappointed again checked on the morning of our visit 18th September stated open. After traveling with my friend for lunch no booking required. As we had tried many times to make a reservation for the evening with no reply, could not believe the notice on the door which said closed for the foreseeable future. A pop up on sea view website would of been appreciated as we had travelled specially to have lunch. All turned out well as we had an excellent sea food lunch at Vista Mar at a fraction of the price.

I've been going for years, a lovely treat however the last two times I've been they have not been good. First time the chips were hard in the middle the second time the fish was overcooked, burnt and chewy. I think it is a victim of its own popularity. So busy, lots of young staff rushing about, no attention to detail. Shame I've given up now.

We came here twice after staying in Saltburn for a holiday. One afternoon we got fish and chips for lunch from the take out (big queues which is always a good sign and staff were really hard working). We booked in for dinner on our last night. They placed us on a table towards the back wall but set the table so we could look out onto the view which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and Knowledgable about the food. I got the lobster linguine which was amazing and chocolate pudding which was divine. Lovely evening and would definitely return

Amazing food but never ever been served by people so rude and ignorant. Waited for an eternity just to order drinks. The staff all stand behind the bar with their backs to the customers so it is impossable to even get their attention when you need anything. When you did finally get to order they would ask if you wonted any extras, water for the table or sauces and then they would not even bring them to you. If we ever return we will go with the takeaway.

Like a lot of people, we came across this restaurant thanks to Fred & Nadiya's visit, and we were definitely impressed! The place is lovely, friendly and knowledgeable staff and excellent food. I really enjoyed the lobster thermidor, a real treat at a reasonable price. My partner enjoyed her fish and chips, well above average for such a simple dish and a lovely bottle of rose to boot. This was a lovely end to our stay in Saltburn and we would be more than tempted to travel the two hours from home just to visit this restaurant again.

We had a wonderful impromptu visit to Seaview on our Anniversary weekend.Knowing this place would be popular we turned up for our lunch a little before they open, thankfully, and joined a small group of other would be diners. The restaurant itself has a lovely airy, bright and modern feel with it's full glass front to the sea view, and it's tasteful nautical theme throughout. It's also super clean.I had an amazing mackerel starter. This was nothing like any mackerel dish I had previously tried. Simply amazing. My wife enjoyed the seatrout starter just as much.We both chose the signature crab brioche for our main course. SO much crab, so tasty too. And that dressing...wow.With it being a special occasion we also had a glass of sparkling wine. It should be said that the drinks menu would cater for almost any taste.Service was perfect throughout. So good it was barely noticeable.A wonderful find, and well worth our 2 hour detour!

Didn’t need to book or wait today. We arrived about 12:30 for lunch. A family day out and we ordered English Sparkling wine & 3 lobster meals plus one haddock and chips. The service was friendly & really welcoming. The location is simply fantastic. Literally on the sea front. The views were amazing just a beautiful, unspoilt location. This place really is a hidden gem. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced too. Knowing that the lobster and fish was from the local fisherman was just amazing. I know that if you go in a Monday the choice is a little limited due to no Sunday fishing. So I guess if you want lobster or anything different it may be limited. The English sparkling wine was just delicious and whet our appetites after a few glasses!! Very well done Seaview! We will be back soon.

Arrived at 12.15 with my elderly parents (85 yrs old) we were told the wait would be between 1 - 1 1/2 hours . We left my phone number. I went back at 13.45 (left my parents in the car) was told another 20 mins. I got a call at 14.00 the table was ready. We then had to wait another 15 minutes waiting standing outside ?? .. We waited a total of 2 hours ? Had we realised it was going to be that long, we would never have waited. We then got a table next to the toilet, with one us us having our back to the view. I know this can’t be helped, however less than 5 minutes later, two families waiting behind us got 2 of the prime tables at the window. The service & food was fabulous, however the experience before spoilt it.

Never got to visit the restaurant and will never go after the service I received. Tried to book this restaurant well before our bank holiday stay, to no avail. I emailed to ask why I could not book online and was told they were having a few problems and sorting it out but would be up and running in a couple of days, this did not materialise, so I emailed again and was told somebody would ring. Of course this did not happen until yet again I emailed them. I did receive a call after that but I was out and I left a voice message with date I wanted to book, as yet have not had a call back but another email saying since it has been on tv they are very busy. Is this my problem, no. This is appalling for a restaurant to behave in this way and using excuses. I did have 2 lovely meals eventually in Whitby, 2 excellent restaurants and they were busy too, in fact they were both very accommodating and tried there upmost to fit everyone in. If you are wanting to book the Seaview don't bother, they don't deserve any customers the way they treat customers. Sue and Chris Smith, Yorkshire.

I agree with most reviews on here about the lovely food, staff, views, except the crab brioche! Tasty, yes. Pretty, yes with two little colourful edible flowers but for £15.95!!!!!? For that price I was expecting something much more substantial, perhaps more the size of half a baguette instead what we received was more like something from the starters menu, I’m sure Fred and Nadia’s were just a little bit bigger! All the other meals I saw being served up looked very nice and I wish I had ordered one of them, Anything but the overpriced crab brioche. Later saw something very similar at a lovely little eatery in nearby Staithes priced at £6.99!!!!

Like many others, we learned about this place from the "Remarkable Places To Eat" show. I guess TV fame is a double-edged sword, as the mixed reviews suggest. We turned up about five minutes after they opened on a bank holiday weekend. We got a table by the window (great view of crashing waves and splashing surfers), but the tables were filling up, and soon we could see they were having to turn people away. I'd like to have booked, but realistically I don't see how that would work. We'd been and gone within half an hour, whereas others will stay for a lot longer. Evening slots are presumably easier to allocate, hence you can book for those. The staff were welcoming and efficient. The crab brioche rolls aren't cheap, as people have noted, but they're very good. Good coffee, too. Like a visit to Bettys (also featured on the same TV episode), you're paying for quality, not quantity.

After reading poor reviews on here recently I wondered if the fame of Nadia and Fred's visit had effected quality, but our lunch time fish and chips on a table with great sea views was excellent. Customer service was very good, we did have to wait, but we're able to leave our number and they called, it took longer than expected because it was a cold day and people were clearly lingering longer. They phoned us with a updated ETA for the table. My family had fish and chips and I had Hake Kiev which was lovely, well worth price. Really friendly staff even though they were very busy. Thank you.

Decent fish & chips in a lovely restaurant with sublime views. It was rated in the top x20 restaurants for views in the Times and with these kinds of accolades its always going to be a wait for a table. We were told it would be best to leave our number and they'd call us when a table became available. After an hour and a bit, a couple of drinks in The Ship, and milling about in force 10 gales outside, we decided to enquire how much longer our wait would be. It transpired we'd been waiting round like lemons and they'd forgot about us, luckily they had a place for us all to ourselves on one of the lovely spacious, turquoise snugs overlooking the brutal conditions being exhibited in the North Sea. The fish & chips & kids chicken nuggets were all very good and left us incapable of dessert. In particular the nuggets were proper chicken and not just ubiquitous freezer nuggets. They also stock a good range of locally brewed bottled real ales.

Hubby an myself were looking forward to experiencing a meal at the restaurant after watching the programme Remarkable places to eat - Fred and Nadia episode. First the positive comments. The staff were lovely and friendly. The constructive criticism comments . The crab on Brioche tasted nice but the portion of crab filling was a fraction of what Fred was served and was accompanied by just a small bowl of skinny fries , priced at £15.95 was nothing special and we felt overpriced. Looking at other photos of this crab on brioche dish there were 2 brioche’s served we only got 1 brioche . I myself had a small fish and chips . The fish was lovely. The chips were pale snd dry The Peas and gravy had to be ordered separately £1.80 for each and not listed on the menu. The peas were tasteless and the gravy was very thick and lumpy ( cornflour not cooked out properly) not at all like pouring gravy should be all at £12.80 for a very small plate of food . Such a shame and very disappointing as the restaurant itself was lovely inside and out. Maybe the usual chef was not present this bank holiday Saturday? Wish I had the confidence to complain at the time .

3 weeks ago I e-mailed twice to make a booking for next weekend but didn't get a reply. Telephoned numerous times and when finally someone answered the phone I was told they don't take telephone bookings and that I should book online via new booking system which would be available 'soon'. I was also told that they were getting hundreds of e-mails a day and couldn't answer them. Booking system was up and running a few days later but guess what? Saturday 4th September was already fully booked. I can only assume people walked in and booked because going by my experience they ignore e-mails and rarely bother to answer the phone.
