The Saracen's Head Steakhouse in Stoke-on-Trent

This is our favourite place to go. The owners are absolutely wonderful and can't do enough for you. The food is out of this world. The service is superb. Lovely ambience. Can't recommend highly enough.

Well, what more can I say. What a fantastic couple that this run this establishment. Paul & Emma were fantastic hosts. Opened the restaurant just for myself and my family (as they are usually closed on a monday), giving up their day off for us. The food was outstanding, cooked perfectly, and compliments to the chef!!. They made our family get together a lovely experience. Would definitely recommend coming here. We will 100% be back. Booked here not knowing it was closed on a Monday. However still received a call to confirm that as a large family table this would be fine to accommodate. I've never been been before but our family live near by and recommended to us. Food was great and the warm feeling from the couple on the night was brilliant to. Thanks again we really enjoyed it

We booked for a family Christmas meal of 13, we ordered off the festive menu, we sent in our pre order, starters were ok, then the mains came out, the waitress tipped my plate pouring hot gravy all over me, burnt my arm and ruined a brand new dress, ended up going home to get changed by the time we got back, everyone else had finished eating, the rest of the family weren't impressed, my sister is vegetarian, ordered the vegetarian option, it came with pigs in blankets and beef gravy, most of the food was cold, hardly any of the mains were eaten, totally disappointed, ruined our family Christmas meal, we didn't pay for the mains just the starters and drinks, certainly won't be returning.

Just had a lovely meal here with the family on a Sunday. Varied menu and good service. Children eat free on a Sunday. Recommended

Great place to eat, beautiful food all home cooked and fresh we had drinks starters and mains and couldn't fault anything absolutly beautiful... Staff were very friendly and helpful we got served by a lovely young girl, and also met the owners they all make you feel so welcome We shall defiantly be returning again Thankyou ☺️☺️

Staff are amazing Paul and Emma were extremely professional and helpful. Food was amazing, came from Scotland cannot recommend highly enough. Second time coming first time was not so good but tonight was amazing. One very happy Scotish guy and family.

Great tasting food, Cajun chicken pasta & Cajun chicken with mash and Mediterranean vegetables all nice.

Have been using saracens now for some years and always get the same good service has changed hands recently but the couple who now run saracens are very pleasant and extremely accommodating a group of 23 people all served at the same time speaks volumes for their organisational and cooking skills would recommend a visit to anyone

Good quality, well cooked steak. Lovely, friendly staff. Decent value for money. A proper honest non-pretentious meal using quality products.

2nd time coming in today 1st was for a steak and it was cooked to perfection exactly how I asked for it to be done. Then came in with the family for a Sunday roast couldn't fault it at all. The new management came to say hello and Emma was so polite and helpful will definitely be coming in again.

Love this place and the food is always spot on, first time out since first lockdown and wouldn’t have chosen anywhere else to go. Four of us and we all had the sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. Our waitress was lovely, so friendly and she made sure we had everything we needed and popped back every so often to see if we wanted anything else. We had a lovely evening, definitely recommend.

Visited for the first time after hearing some recommendations and was definitely not disappointed! Fantastic food and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We had a mix of steak, pizza, burgers and kids pizza, with some starters and desserts and everything was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend for a family meal out, great quality and value for money.

I googled for best coffee in stoke on trent and this place came up - so glad I visited. This is the best coffee of my trip. A totally deserved 5/5. Don't be put off by the outside of the building! Inside it is bright and modern with great seating. Staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming. I had eggs Benedict- the eggs were spot on with runny yolks etc. Visit this place!!

Went for a long overdue catch up with a friend and had a really good experience - great food, good drinks and a welcoming atmosphere; highly recommend.

I have been to many steak restaurants in my life including steak & co, Miller and Carter etc and this is by far one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The portion was a perfect size worth every penny. Asked for medium rare and the steak was cooked perfectly it was so tender and no fatty bits at all truly incredible. I must say I was very surprised, a very under rated place. Could not recommend it enough.

Visited here this evening and what a fantastic visit it was. The fillet steak was cooked perfectly, accompanied with lovely chips! Service was perfect by Jess and Tash, couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be returning.

We came here for the first time as an early meal. We were not sure what to expect. Upon entering it seems a little like a cafe and we were too sure. However we were greeted with a friendly face shown to our seats and drinks taken. The menu has a good amount of choice. I opted for the fillet steak and husband had the T-bone steak. We didn’t have to wait too long for it to arrive. The portion sizes wee quite large and very welcomed. Both the steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted great. The entire meal was a pleasure. We will definitely be returning.

Went here for a meal tonight didn’t book went on spec .Waitress greeted us with a lovely smile and showed us to a table everything very clean and tidy tables set nicely.We ordered drinks then she took our order .We ordered steaks which came out quite quickly they were cooked to perfection and the meals were delicious compliments to the chef .We paid the bill which was very fair price and we will definitely be going again .Thank you for a lovely meal

The food here is delicious and the staff very friendly. We had the Camembert and sticky beef for starter as the steak for main and it was all high quality and delicious. Good price too.

The service was good, the girls were lovely. However, the food was not up to the expectations. For starters we got a chicken liver parfait and wings. The wings were dry, no type of sauce on them, very bland. The chicken liver parfait tasted really bad. For mains we had stakes, these brought up the standard, the stakes were cooked exactly how we asked them, however I got new potatoes with mine and the plate was 70% potatoes. Way too many.

We pulled off from a trip from lake district to Somerset. Its a detour that was well worth it. Portions are large. So will share a starter next time and probably still struggle with the main. I asked for a Medium Rare and it was beautifully cooked. Decor inside is nicer that the outside shows.

Greeted at the door and seated by a lovely waitress however it was clear that there was a bit of an accent barrier from the get go. Food was good and the saviour of the meal, drinks were poor (received the wrong ones) and service could have been a bit better. It seems like the restaurant is keen on locals and we felt a bit like outsiders dining in here so we were in and out in under an hour. Would recommend for food but not really much else.

We knew nothing about this restaurant but fancied steak, so we opted for The Saracens Head. I'm glad we did as the steaks were perfect, there was no fat on them, so juicy as well. The scoop chips were new to us and they were lovely. We had a great meal and will definitely be back.

Our first visit since lock down and still as excellent as ever. Lovely service, lovely food. We have never had a bad experience here. I had the Sunday lunch on this occasion, amazing!

My niece and l visited today for lunch. Impressed with the menu choices and can definitely recommend the Eggs Benedict with ham and the steak burger with the addition of bacon. Service with a smile. Definitely recommend to others and will be making more visits. Need to try cake and desserts

First time visit, really impressed, no room at millar & carter...... So we have it a go.......... Well millar & Carter lost us, great steak cooked as requested, tasty, real onion rings, fresh beef grilled tomato, large mushroom, and New to us scoop chips, which I have to say are very moreish, will definitely return...... And great price too

We knew nothing about this restaurant but fancied steak, so we opted for The Saracens Head (local/independent) over Miller & Carter (large pub chain). I'm glad we did as the steaks were perfect. There were 9 of us in the group and everyone agreed that we'd stumbled across a little gem. The kids enjoyed their meals too and the desserts were excellent, so a winner all round!

We went here for dinner and were pleased with the quality of food and the reasonable price. The steaks were excellent and would highly recommend the bacon and garlic sauce too! Portions are really good. Most importantly the waitress was lovely and attentive without being imposing. We would definitely recommend.

The atmosphere, the attentive waitresses and the food were all incredible! Ate here for my birthday meal with my partner, we both had 3 courses and were astounded by each, the flavours, portion sizes and prices were amazing!Highly recommend and will definitely be back if we are visiting this way again!Thank you!

Lovely, friendly staff and very generous portions. My pizza was really tasty and our food was served very quickly. Massive venue with a large open plan dining area. They have a function room which I’m sure would be a great find for anyone planning a larger gathering. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was very quiet (albeit a bit TOO quiet / slightly lacking in atmosphere). My only suggestion would be to perhaps (on quieter nights) consider increasing the music volume or screening off a smaller section the restaurant to provide a cosier dining experience? As a local independent business, the team running this venue deserve every success. We will return and would recommend :)

Had the best meal tonight with outstanding service like usual! Can’t fault the food the rib starter was falling off the bone and gorgeous. The steaks where cooked to perfection couldn’t find one fault, t he service was outstanding the staff were so friendly, attentive and can tell they love what they do! Visited here in Sunday with my girlfriend for a Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The lamb was amazing! Very tenner and falling off the bone. There was a nice atmosphere and the coffee after the meal was the best I've had. Will definitely be returning. Thank you to all the staff for our great experience.

Once again visited the saracens head Meir for lunch. When we lived more local we were fairly regular evening diners but now we live 25 miles away its a lunchtime visit after a morning shopping probably once a month.The saracens never disappoints, the staff are lovely and friendly & the food consistantly brilliant. A few years ago we were big fans of M & C steak houses but they begun to loose the friendliness & the meals became inconsistent so we tried the Saracens from a recommendation & have never looked back.Highly recommended for a meal or special occssion.

This place is a little gem. Every thing was 10 out 10, spotlessly clean & welcoming with cheerful, attentive staff & the food, omg the food was excellent. We were a family party of 6 celebrating my husbands 70th birthday & he loved it. We all had something different & no one had anything to complain about, put it this way, if we were local to the area, we would be regulars. Thank you to the management, chef & staff for a very pleasant evening. I hope sincerely that in these very uncertain times you hang in there & keep giving your customers excellent food & service. Went to the saracens head on Sunday evening three of us celebrating a friends 60th birthday with a lovely meal would highly recommend it the staff were lovely the food was excellent. Social distancing was good and everything was very clean. Will return.

Great steaks! We came for lunch on Saturday. Very good food, steaks done to perfection and very nice, quick service. We would come back!

Just taken my dad out with us for some lunch. All tables are distanced and the girls there explained all the safety measures that have been put in place. The food was delicious and my dad said it was the nicest fish and chips he has had in years.

Amazing steaks! Went tonight for the first time and we were really impressed. The service was amazing. Portions are a good size and our starters were lovely but our steaks were what really sets it apart. We had the sirloin and it was large and cooked to perfection. It was tender and peppered, so had lots of flavour. The steak was served with dauphinois potatoes, onion rings etc and was a big portion. I can’t recommend the steaks enough.

Went at 4.45 this was a family venue at this time.welcomed in asked to wash hands .taken to table traveling explained and completed. Asked to gill in the menus for what we required. Drinks bought to table. I had t bone,chips were very good along with the mushrooms etc,well presented and a good portion,wife decided on lamb curry. Well laid out and modern,reasonable wait time as it was busy,friendly and attentive staff, made sure everything was ok. This may have been half price,but I would go back again for full price,may be a bit later time. Drinks reasonable price

First time visiting this restaurant and me and the other half left very satisfied. The service was brilliant, Ellie and Tash made us feel very welcome, food was spot on and worth the value of money. Only disappointing part was another group which a bit disruptive and made us feel slightly uncomfortable but not the restaurants fault. Will definitely visit again :)

Visited the Saracens steakhouse for a 50th birthday meal today. Brilliant customer service, we experienced top class service from Tash. The food was 5* wouldn't definitely recommend the steakhouse burger! Overall great EXPERIENCE. Will definitely be visiting again

Went for a works get together. Never been before. Service was good. Didn’t have to wait long at all for everyone’s food to arrive. Big portions. Tasty food. Would consider going again.

First trip out after lockdown, did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, I recommend the beef and beer pie. Plenty of space inside with well thought out social distancing.

Visited this eatery for the first time last night.We had seen the good reviews and thought we would give it a go.Friendly and inviting staff, the best Sirlion Steak I think we have had at any restaurant. The garlic butter also went down a treat,Good good prices but slightly more expensive drinks but I suppose you can expect that. This eatery is about 40 minutes from home so not a local place for us but we will definitely return.

Just been for a family meal.it took over an hour to get the main meals.3 ordered Sunday lunch has we had seen others served and they looked lovely .our meals arrived not a bit like what we were expecting .one thin slice of beef, two aunt Bessie frozen Yorkshire puddings, two hard and cold roast potatoes and some very unappetising and cold veg.complained and was brought another dish of same veg this time it had been in the microwave.undercooked cauliflower, cabbage and carrots.left most of the meal.2 of are party ordered fish and chips.the fish were over cooked.nearly burnt.if they had had a problem would have been better to have told us to order something different.we had a percentage knocked of but we would have preferred to have had a meal that we enjoyed.left feeling disappointed and hungry.

The new menu is fantastic. We are regulars at the Saracens and we have just had the new lunch menu which was amazing value. The steaks were cooked to perfection as always.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last couple of years because it is close to a relative. They really need more inspiration with their menu because it never changes. The day we arrived it was not busy but service was incredibly slow we had to wait an hour for our meal. The waitress staff need to be trained as they do not work the tables in the order they are seated. They do not know how to probably clear tables, offering dessert menus when you still have a table of dirty plates. The food was very average with the roast dinners coming swimming in gravy. This restaurant is definitely not as good as it used to be.

Having no expectation of this jaunt meant that I was pleasantly surprised to find a diverse menu as opposed to the laborious mundane stereotypical steakhouse type usually on offer. In particular, the starters and desserts of which I'm sure would have at least one choice that you won't see on many other similar establishment's menu.The food arrived quickly and there was plenty of it included with the steak that I chose. The chips were homemade and although they looked undercooked, were rather nice. Dessert was probably not needed but you have to don't you, and I'm glad that I did as it was beautiful.The staff were great and I tip my hat to the chef also, great job guys we shall be back in the near future.

Both of us had rump steak which was delicious. Good chunky portions that had not been hammered to death with a mallet! The home cooked chips were perfect too. Lovely staff and good value for money. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu :-)

Called in for tea on my own as i am working in the area and what a find. I am normally so fussy about my steak that i rarely order it but so glad i did. Cooked to perfection just how i like it, pink inside but with no blood so well done chef. Chips were amazing as well and all the trimmings to. Will deffo be coming back. Staff were great and seems a really nice pub. Well done.

We go for the lunchtime special. It consists of one course for £7.50 and the other 2 courses for £2.50 each. We have never had any reason to complain. The ingredients are top quality and very well-cooked. I don’t know why there are not many customers as this menu is excellent value for money.
