An adorable cafe in the middle of Hay-on-Wye with a yummy menu with something for everyone (I mean, everyone - GF, Vegan, etc all accommodated). My cheese and pickle sandwich was delicious and the tea, perfect, We sat by the window watching the people walk by. It was a perfect stop on a busy day exploring Hay.

Delightful service and delicious food, would highly recommend for coeliacs as they were able to absolutely accommodate me. Hugely recommend.

A super lovely cafe with a great choice of breakfasts and lunches. My friend and I had the yummiest veggie breakfast. Vegan options also available. Fresh, tasty and great value. Can highly recommend!

Wonderful little cosy establishment. We popped in on a quiet day after missing breakfast and we were desperate to find breakfast before travelling off we cheekily asked the lady behind the counter if it was possible if she could still do breakfast to which she replied fo course. We really appreciate what the lady did for us. Really lovely staff super helpful and kind. Generous portions and good food the pot of tea for two is huge! Definitely would recommend

Located down a small alleyway opposite the main car park. Friendly staff. Went here after running at Riverside Walk parkrun. Catering for for our party of mixed food choices with lots of variety. Beautiful sausage and perfectly cooked egg sandwich. Highly recommend seeking this out.

Always a pleasure to nip in to The Sandwich Cellar. Veggie sausages are top-notch and flavourful, food piping hot and the coffee is rich and delicious. A long overdue review for a jewel of a cafe in Hay-on-Wye.

Class place, great tasty sandwiches with lots of variety and a nice cosy atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and their new baker is smashing it - the cakes are delicious, myself and my partner would highly recommend. If you're in Hay-On-Wye, this is a must stop for a lovely lunch.

Sat in the lane outside. Ordered breakfast after official closing time but they weren't busy so I had one specially cooked. Immense value for money. They know not to include baked beans, thank goodness

Another visit to this lovely little cafe, hidden away down a quiet lane in a great sun spot. I have to say the food is well worth trying, it's the best of everything. No cut backs on anything used. All served by helpful friendly staff and owner thankyou so much Cat.

Best breakfast in Hay. After an active hunt for a breakfast in Hay, came across this lovely little spot. Far more affordable than the other local areas and in a nice quiet nook just away from the very centre of Hay. Lovely family run business, the young man was very friendly and engaged with all the locals as if there since day dot. Breakfast itself was fresh and delicious. Local sausages were excellent. Would definitely come again.

An attractive cafe with outside seating. Ordered a panini and a coffee, sat outside. The coffee was promptly served, then found myself waiting and coffee going cold. Two other tables had to be served food before me and each person’s food arrived separately. After 20 minutes my panini arrived, but by then the waiter had offered two apologies for having to wait. The food was very nice,but, there is a need to judge potential waiting time at the point of ordering and warning a customer of any likely wait. Could have been far more enjoyable. A simple error.

This place is a gem. They accommodated our strange food quirks happily and without hesitation going the extra mile. The food was absolutely wonderful, as was the service. I can highly recommen it. The owner is also a poet, and if asked, you can have a read of the shop book.

Three of us seeking a breakfast sandwich to start our day as we continued our visit to the UK. We were presented with 3 wonderful sandwiches, one a vegetarian option, and they were WONDERFUL!!! The proprietor, Cat, spent time with us and could not have been more friendly and hospitable. This is a MUST visit for those coming to Hay! You won't be sorry!

Overpriced for average toasties. We were both disappointed as we were attracted to the aesthetic. We wouldn’t recommend for the toasties. :(

I was there the morning these delightful people introduced their breakfast panini. I had the first. Beautiful fresh bread, sausage, cheese and for me a brilliant innovation: baked beans. This pleasant retreat in a alley off the castle is now a regular stop. Family run and fun.

Breakfast sandwiches - yum - compliments to the chef! I had a bacon, sausage, egg & black pudding sandwich which filled me up for the whole day. A couple of delicious lattes as well - we ate outside in the rain under a brolly which was good. ( We don't mind a bit of weather, but if you do there are stools inside as an alternative).

Cannot fault service or food. The breakfast sandwiches are out of this world and I can safety say the best I have ever tasted - we went three mornings in a row. Each time perfect. Friendly, helpful staff working their butts off to ensure you are happy. Apparently opened during Covid. Cat and family work hard to ensure everything is great. Support this small business so they can expand into a bigger premises. Well done! Very rare to find such a business.

Great Morning Start We had our breakfast here 3 morning’s in a row. Dog friendly Food cooked to order Very good value Just what we wanted - egg sandwich or bacon & egg sandwich Tea served in a pot with a top up if requested. We wanted some lunch in a very wet Hay and this place looked inviting so we popped in. Everyone was so cheery and even though it was busy the lady took our orders very quickly. Really friendly and we went outside to a table that was well covered from the rain. A few minutes later our burgers arrived and wow! They are good. Smashed patty with cheese that crisps up on the edges. Well seasoned, good quality beef, great sauces and super fresh brioche bun. I'm sure everything else they do is great too, we totally loved it. Lovely cafe in a beautiful alley way, seating is outdoor and very pretty and relaxing. The staff were lovely and went the extra mile for me to make a milkshake - it was clearly not a regular item and I didn't mean to cause hassle by asking (they made it fresh!), but they were so kind and accommodating. Would totally recommend stopping by, I'd have loved to stay but ordered for takeout this time. ✨️

The coffee was lovely, the food was lovely and the location is great especially on a sunny day BUT regrettably the cafe is not cyclist friendly, my wife and I felt they were unpleasant to us, having taken our money. Other customers also felt we were poorly treated and said so to us.

A lovely cosy cafe with friendly staff and delicious food! With their fresh and quality produce, you'll never be disappointed. They also have a pretty outdoor seating area, which is dog friendly. It's a must visit in Hay Town!

Really nice little place tucked away in Hay on Wye. Breakfast sandwich is really good. Excellent for coeliacs as they will make any of their sandwiches with gluten free bread for you. Plenty of vegetarian options too. Definitely worth popping in for a quick late...

we go out of our way en route to Ross on Wye to have a lunch break here. Very obliging staff ((the new owners have (phew) maintained the same excellent quality)) - recommend BLT and soups especially.

Tiny little café that has a few seats inside and more outside. Very friendly staff and plenty of choice, even for veggies. It's off the beaten track but it still gets busy. Well worth a visit for a quick bite to eat.

I was fortunate in finding the Sandwich Cellar for breakfast. There was a pleasant feel about the place and the outside seating is comfortable (see photo). I had a bacon sandwich with a mug of tea which were both excellent.

Stopped here with a hungry teen while exploring the town. Unexpected find up a narrow alleyway. Didn't want to spend huge prices for his hollow legs but this hit the spot perfectly - both had a sandwich and drink for a reasonable price. Biggest hit for me - not a coffee aficionado - was being able to get a mug of instant coffee! We sat outside on a dry day - although lots of parasols not sure what it would be like on a wet day as the indoor seating didn't seem extensive. However, would definitely recommend this for its food.

We arrived at the Sandwich Cellar after completing a 30 mile bike ride in 30 deg heat, and needed good food. We excelled as we found the sandwich cellar, the food is great, plenty of choice and the service we found is second to none. My wife is a chef and very fussy but we were both impressed with the staff, food, and service, very friendly staff and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend the Sandwich Cellar and we will be going back to support the business and for the food next year.

My wife had a fantastic gluten free bacon sandwich and i had a lovely sausage sandwich. Washed down with proper mugs of tea. Cracking place run by very nice people with great prices. Highly recommended, especially when you consider we had just passed another cafe on the main road trying to charge an eye watering £8 for a bacon roll.

Found this fantastic little cafe after being shouted at by the owners of the Deli "put on ur masks"! The 'Management' & 'staff' badge ladies were super fun (food excellent too). We went back 3 times. Highly recommended.

Visited at the weekend with my partner and whilst it was a busy Saturday morning, the service and food were both excellent. I had the full English and the quality of produce/cooking was to a very high standard and was honestly one of the best breakfasts I’ve enjoyed in quite a while. The GF brioche was also absolutely lovely and a welcome change to the somewhat tasteless bread you often encounter whilst dining out as a Coeliac- Would very much recommend if you’re looking for a good breakfast/lunch spot in Hay.

We stopped here today. Absolutely stunning food. The burger was absolutely outstandingly delicious, you should have a burger restaurant as its the best burger I have ever tasted, the BLT sandwich with gluten free bread was just as delicious. Will definitely be making this our regular stop in Hay.

Found this place as waking round the shops proper jewel and best kept secret of Hey on Wye. The staff were so polite and helpful, had good food and drinks at a very reasonable price. Would recommend a visit 👌 😀
