Exceptional food, service and atmosphere. Portion sizes are huge, fresh and filling. The use of local ingredients was impressive with an extensive menu and specials board.

Always reliable, it’s difficult to look beyond the Salmon in Gala. Good food, good drin, good prices, only wee problem this time is that not all the staff seemed to be on the same page as some things were forgotten and we got doubles of others…

What a great pub with rooms. Rooms were beautiful. Beds comfy. Bathrooms really nicely done. Had dinner out on way, maybe should have waited but have had the sticky chicken recommended for next time. San Miguel on draft downstairs was excellent, sports bar but not intrusive.

I went here for lunch with girlfriend , mid-week , and was lucky to get a table . The food was in big portions , and tasty .recommended

So let down by the beer garden where we chose to sit down with our food.. dull boring and dirty tables desperate for a refurb as for the food so very dissatisfied in that too chips and coleslaw were tasteless my vegitarian option was ok but not worth the money we complaind about the dangerous step but it wasn’t taken on board won’t choose to go there again

Popped in for an adhoc lunch. Friendly and efficient bar staff. Excellent choice of stuff from a compact one page menu. Food arrived quickly. Super fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely top class food. No hesitation in recommending. Great job The Salmon Inn !

As a regular visitor to the Salmon, I can’t recall ever being disappointed. This time was with a largish group early Saturday evening. They’ve got a good range of British pub classics, plus their popular sticky chicken. Steak pie is a great, large portions of fish and chips, all really tasty. Great real ales too and the staff team are very helpful and efficient. Look forward to my next excuse to go for food!

The best place for food in Galashiels. Whether it’s just a salad, nibbles or a full meal the salmon always deliver - food is incredible. Very welcoming staff who go the extra mile every time. Dog friendly and also appeals to all ages, parties and groups. I will always recommend it.

Been to the Salmon many times over the years because it never disappoints! Good bar at the front with great real ales and dining area to the back. Usually a buzzing, busy atmosphere so almost always necessary to book. Last to visits were good, as always, both for meals out with extended family. Great selection of British pub favourites with specials available daily. Many folk opt for sticky chicken, but I rarely go past the steak pie, which is fab. Great fish and chips too, breaded, or battered. Difficult to find somewhere better locally. I should add that the staff team are excellent too. Back soon!

I contacted the restaurant through Facebook 2 week prior to visiting. I enquired my booking and time and I got reply from staff asking was this time suitable. I replied to the message, agreed and the message was received. My family travelled to spend the weekend with myself, wife and kids. When we entered the restaurant, staff had no booking in place as no one had recorded it in the book. After speaking to the bar staff and showing the messages from back and forth they still didn't accommodate or accept responsibility for the error. I felt as though they shared no sympathy in this matter which left a bitter taste. I was very disappointed, baring in mind it's a Saturday night and to get another restaurant this late to seat 9 folk would have been very difficult. I just didn't feel as though the staff cared at all.

We had a fab midweek evening here. Service was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was buzzing and cosy. We had burgers and sticky toffee pudding - everything was delicious. If we lived closer we would certainly be back!

We had supper for four and the food was truly excellent. My daughter is a vegan and they had plenty of choice for her, including a vegan dessert The portions were huge - and the final bill was very reasonable. The staff were welcoming and responsive.

i know the food is good but the staff ( particularly one guy) are off hand and you can be stood at the bar waiting on being served and they will ignore you. i could probably forgive this if it was busy or happened once but its happened the couple of times i visited. last time i left and went elsewhere in the town and i won't go back when i'm next there

Found this place by chance while searching Galashiels. We hadnt booked but managed to get a table. Food was tasty and plentiful and we really enjoyed it. We are only disappointed we couldn't fit another visit in.

Turned up without booking, and although they were very busy found us a table for two in the bar. The food is plentifull, well cooked and served. The staff were very friendly and prices again just right.

Was delighted to see Pornstar Martini on draft here! It was a tad too vanilla for my taste but good. Bar staff were great. Wait staff were accommodating when we asked to delay our table by 30 mins to finish drinks. We enjoyed lamb shank & creamy Parmesan steak pasta specials & fish & chips. Tasty food. Reasonably priced & good sauv blanc. The only reason it’s not 5* is that service wasn’t quite as attentive as it should have been & the wine glasses were all badly water marked which just made them look grubby. Overall very good & would return if I am in the area

Unexpected trip to Galashiels so had no idea where to have a spot of lunch. After this bar/restaurant was recommended by a local shopkeeper decided to give it a bash. I very glad we did, the place was very busy but they squeezed us in. Staff were cheery & we checked out the menu which looked impressive.

I’ve never had a negative experience dinning at the Salmon! For purely selfish reasons the only thing i don’t like is going out and up for the toilets!

I was lucky enough to spend 4 nightstand this little gem. The the room was brilliant and exceptionally clean. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The pub itself is brilliantly split up with a bar and a resteraunt. The food is absolutely out of this world.

We recently visited Galashiels and stayed at the Salmon Inn. I'd previously looked at reviews before booking and the inn was certainly a great find. People were friendly, great service and a lovely area. The room we stayed in was lovely too. Very clean, and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The inn is just around the corner from the railway station too where trains run often to Edinburgh and beyond.

Four couples booked in to the Salmon for an evening meal. The ambiance of the place is great, we were in the small room off the lounge, perfect !!!

Although we had to change our table time the staff were very good and even found us a table to have a drink while we waited for our dinner table. Food was excellent and we want to go back to try more from the menu.

Visited here for the first time with my family. Had a lovely lunch. Service was poor. After serving our meal on the table there was no one who came to our table to even ask if we are ok or we need any thing else. We finished our meal and we were just waiting just to see if anyone could clear our table. After so long waitress came cleared the table and there was no return back to ask for deserts or tea or coffee. Finally we decided to go to the counter pay the bill go away.

Attractively decorated venue and also quiet a busy place, so advise to book, as we did.

Myself & my girlfriend spent the night in the salmon inn last month, we decided to have dinner the night of arrival which we found delightful, the menu was great, also the specials on offer were excellent too and don’t even get me started on portion size, let’s just say we knew we had been fed come the end of the meal. Now onto our room, not only was it immaculate but we were surprised with the size of the room and comfort of the bed, we also found the snowball biscuits and hot chocolate on offer a very nice touch that you don’t see often when staying in such a fairly priced room. The next day we travelled far and wide for our lunch (back downstairs to the restaurant) and again had an excellent meal, not only that we found the staff so welcoming and they really couldn’t do enough for you. My girlfriend also enjoyed the vast amount of gins available and the pornstar martini on tap went down a treat. All in all an excellent stay and we will 100% return in the future.

Lovely meal with the family big portions fresh tasty food and great atmosphere as usual. All 5 of us enjoyed it all even my fussy 13 year old son ate 3 courses!

Ate here recently with 5 friends on a Saturday evening. Glad we booked as it was very busy .... thankfully we weren’t staying there all evening as we were told our table was required again at 9pm. We booked for 7pm so had enough time to eat without rushing as we were going elsewhere for drinks afterwards.

Absolutely over the moon that they now serve food all day,makes my visits from Berwick all the better,the food never disappoints,great value for money and always good service.

Was going nicely but on third stay day room was left open to the world. Valuables an cash while still intact were waived aside by the owner aan Ian Calder, stating - this is not a Five star premises and you shouldn't be carrying so much cash & valuables - quote to my wife was - I could pull one hundred people off the street and they wouldn't have that amount of money on them. Basically saying it was our fault for having such sums with us, by the way money for a lengthy Holiday about to go on.

Arrived one evening without a reservation. The restaurant was very busy. The staff were very helpful and were able to find us a table for 2 in the bar area. For a relatively small pub there was a good selection of food on the menu. My wife opted for nachos with haggis. A generous plateful and very tasty. My slow cooked beef pie was excellent. Just over £30 for 2 main courses, 2 drinks and 2 coffees. Good value.

Absolutely amazing food! The crispy chicken dippers to start were to die for! Saying that I did attend with a large group the week after this and my burger bun was a bit soggy, but very nice overall

I arranged a meal for 12 at a hen do and we were lucky to be tucked away at the side of the restaurant. They did a reasonable deal for me to help me budget for the night. Food was brilliant, huge portions and drinks well priced. The service was good especially considering there was another function on in the restaurant. Couldn't fault it for what we were looking for!

Clean modern room. No complaints. Comfy bed. Didn’t eat in restaurant so can’t comment on food. Breakfast come in a bag, juice, yoghurt, packaged croissant. Suited us as had early start.

The salmon is a lovely little bar and restaurant. It is quite small and possibly not the most accessible with young children or wheelchair users. However, it has a lovely feel about the place. The service is always good. The only downside is availability! Book well in advance or you won't get a table. Highly recommend a visit here.

We booked this hotel to visit friends, the rooms are very comfortable and the hotel is centrally located. The food was excellent and the staff were all friendly and this made us feel all the more welcome. Breakfast is nothing special but this did not spoil our stay plenty of places to get food and a Wetherspoons within 10 minutes wzlk. Parking is on street and free if you don't mind short walk.

Just had the sticky chicken fillets and Wat can I say except WOW . Fantastic combination of sweet a savoury .staff were so nice and friendly and we did not have to wait long for our food which was the star would recommend if in area book first though as it can get really busy and run out of spaceqiuck

Wonderful soup of the day. Barmaid was great.... The passionfruit martini became a firm favourite of my wife's. Belhaven best was good too.

We had an excellent meal out and all 3 mains and desserts were well presented and well cooked nothing could have been better and when I got the bill I was surprised at the price which I was expecting to be far more.

We managed to get an available table at very short notice again the food was excellent and great service. Best place to eat in Galashiels.
