The Rythre Arms in Selby

We visited Rythre Arms for family birthdays and other occasions. We find the atmosphere as well as the staff brilliant. The owners are very hands on. Even thou they have lost their manager and chef due to the Covid- 19. Had to reduce the tables. Its still has that family feeling. Both staff and owners engage with clients. I had surf& turf and partner had mixed grill which we both enjoyed it. Its our first time back after lockdown.

Called in on spec for Dinner and staff managed to squeeze us in. What a lovely meal. I had a fillet, and my wife the huge steak pie. Both were top notch, the pie delicious and tender, the steak, medium for me, tasty and tender. Really enjoyable and will go again next time we are in the area.

Visited in December when on a four day break in the York area ,have been here before so we were aware of what to expect and I can say that it didn’t disappoint started with a prawn and mussel dish which was very good followed up with a 12oz fillet asked for med rare and it was cooked just right my wife had the 8oz sirloin which was also cooked as requested this come with a selection of veg a few minutes into the meal the waitress asked if we were happy with the meal and did we want more veg we both managed a pudding although I don’t know how will be back when up in York again

We used to come here on a monthly basis but this was only our 2nd visit since Barbara left.We were given complimentary bread for our table which was a lovely touch.We decided not to get starters this time as the rythre portions are so big we always leave so full it’s almost painful to move.We both decided to try something different so I ordered the Beef Wellington and my boyfriend ordered the Rythre Mixed Grill.I enjoyed the Wellington, it was very tasty and certainly different to any I have tried before. It’s usually made with a mushroom duxelle layer but the rythre used pate instead. The bacon added a slightly salty layer and combined with the red wine jus it ended up being a little too rich for me, so I had to leave bits of the bacon and jus soaked pastry. I just wish the jus came in a separate pot or jug like the normal steak sauces do, it arrived at my table already smothered over the Wellington which made the pastry go soggy. It was very filling and I’m glad I didn’t have a starter. My boyfriend enjoyed the mixed grill and the portion was ginormous. The onion rings were perfect, not greasy and nice and thick slices of onion.The selections of vegetables were much better this time. We always found it strange to be served broccoli, carrots, mangetout, etc with a steak (as if it was a Sunday dinner). I do think simple grilled onions, onion rings, grilled tomato or mushrooms would be better as a steak side instead of vegetables though but that’s personal preference.We were annoyed to see customers walking round without a face mask on, they then put their “exemption lanyard” round their neck which angers me because masks are to protect other people, not yourself. If you cannot wear a mask and protect the people around you then you stay at home! But that’s not the Rythre’s fault I suppose.

We visited as a birthday treat as we had done previously. Its not the cheapest place to go. But worth every penny, you get what you pay for! Nothing to complain about. Steaks cooked perfectly, melted in your mouth (the rump and sirloin). Asked for ribs on the main as a side, the meat fell off the bone really flavoursome. Generous portion of homemade onion rings. Just before being full to the top, we squeezed a dessert in. Sticky toffee pudding was spot on. Staff were friendly and accomadating. On top of that, the best pint of Landlord i've had in ages. 100% worth the visit and a great place for a celebration meal or to take the other half!In regards to the COVID situation. All the necassary preventative measures are in place.

Really wanted to be blown away by this place. I'd heard great things from a friend. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. Service, aesthetics and portion sizes were all good.The stilton steak sauce weak/bland, broccoli overcooked to a mush almost and the vegetables (boiled, under seasoned with a small lump of butter ontop) lacked flavour. However my main problem was with the steak. The steak was under seasoned and lacked charing. It just lacked flavour in general and at £41 for a 20 oz tbone you'd expect them to get it right. Honestly, I can get more flavour out of a steak at home.Overall an underwhelming experience. Decidedly average

Spent another lovely evening at The Rythre Arms with friends and great food.Firstly Covid, meet and greet was very professional, staff member explained what measures were in place for our safety along with staff PPE. Informed face masks to be worn when moving around the restaurant. We all felt safe and relaxed.Now to the best bit, the food, great choice from a reduced menu which had plenty to wet your appetite. Food is cooked to order which allows you plenty of time to enjoy a drink or 2 and chat.I can highly recommend the Crazy Cow pie, which is not for the faint hearted. Huge chunks of tender steak & mushrooms with oozing gravy. All meals served with a large platter of fresh veg and chips. The rest of the food for our table also looked and tasted delicious.We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back in the near future.Thanks for making our visit memorable.

Visited here after recommendations from other work colleagues. Had to say was very impressed with the ambiance, service and the food itself. We went during the Covid-19 but everything was managed superbly. In relation to the food itself, my OH enjoyed the medium 14oz Rump which was cooked to perfection though there was a small amount of fat running through - but to be expected with this cut. Unfortunately due to having a tooth abscess at the time of visit, I resisted the temptation of a steak and went with the easier option of the steak and ale pie - if you are tempted with this and have a smaller appetite I would look at another option. The portion size of the pie is enormous and would easily have fed both my OH and I with some left over for the dog!! They are generous with the helpings of sides i.e. chips and vegetables and are very attentive in asking if you require more!! Usually when we enjoy a meal out then we like to indulge in a desert to top off the meal, however on this occasion we simply couldn't face it! The setting and atmosphere within the restaurant is fantastic, there is a real olde worlde feel internally and very much your traditional pub type interior, even complete with beams and horse-brasses and open fire places. The Rythre Arms is not typically set up either in terms of facilities or menu choices (though this may be due to the restricted menu operating during Covid-19) as a family pub, so would definitely check direct with the restaurant if you're planning to go as a family.There was plenty of choice of both alcoholic and soft drinks, limited on 'bitter' choices with no heavy ales, but their own IPA and other local independent beers on pump. Can't comment on choice of lagers as didn't ask. Overall it was a very pleasant visit to a mid-priced restaurant.

The atmosphere was good, the service was good. After reading all the great things about this place my expectations were very high. I shared the chateaubriand with my partner, unfortunately it was overcooked, we asked for it to be medium, so expected it to be pink inside, there was no pink. It was more like a good cut of beef you would cook yourself for Sunday lunch. Our other two guests got the mixed grill, they both said that they enjoyed it but the lamb was very dry and not very nice.I was hoping to rave about this place, but unfortunately on this occasion I couldn't. I will return when I've saved up enough, and probably have a TBone.

Four of us ate here recently, the restaurant is clearly suffering from the issues in relation to COVID19 but in fairness to them that had done everything possible to make it as safe as they could. The steaks were on point as ever and the waiters were certainly attentive. A great meal, slightly expensive but worth it. We’ve eaten here previously and I’m sure we’ll be back again.

We've just been to the Rythre Arms, Ryther, near Tadcaster and had the most wonderful meal,On our timed arrival we were shown to our table and the waitress explained the Covid safety rules , where to exit the restaurant when we had finished our meal and really did put us at ease, ( this being out first pub visit/meal since the easing of restrictions)We were not disappointed with our meal either, probably the best steaks we have ever had, cooked to perfection, my partner had the fillet and I had the rump, superb!Accompanying potatoes & vegetables were also 1st class. The staff were really attentive and nothing was too much trouble, couldn't ask for anything more.Thank you very much for doing such a fantastic job during very difficult times.Well done.David DayEast Yorkshire

Well, last night we are glad to say we are no longer Rythre Inn Virgins. Our cherry was definitely lost last night.Visited with friends who've been coming here for 30+ years and we weren't disappointed.Firstly Covid awareness and control measures, The Rythre clearly has staff and customer safety a priority, tables spaced out to accommodate social distancing, staff wearing facemasks, clear signage and sanitisation stations throughout Inn. Thank you.The food we had was exceptionally good, no starters as portions are generous. Between the 4 of us we had, Pork belly, Cow pie, 8oz Rump Steak & lastly 14oz Sirloin. Meals accompanied with fresh vegetable selection and proper chips. I opted for some peppercorn sauce and onion rings to accompany my steak. Everything was lovely, steaks cooked to perfection.4 very happy diners by the end of the meal.We will definitely be returning to this fine Steak Restaurant. A big thank you to all the staff who made our visit safe and a great dining experience.Don't dilly dally, just book it, You'll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in Yorkshire.

Tonight was our second visit to Rythre in the past 4 weeks... it still remains our favourite restaurant. Loved the new starter addition of ox cheek. Really tasty and hope it’s here to stay as I would order it again next time! The restaurant is well managed during covid times and it feels safe with all the procedures that they have put in place. Can’t wait to visit again.

While on a few days away in York we had to visit the Rythre again we certainly were not disappointed won’t bore you with COVID preparation just to say no worries the waiter explained the slightly smaller menu but said if there was any thing that we wanted which was not on the menu just ask if theyhad it they would do it which was good because I fancied the 12oz fillet which was not on the menu he said there was no problem with that request I had starter of mussels and prawns which was great my wife never had starter knowing how filling the mains would be for mains my wife had sirloin steak I had fillet both were excellent I only wish that it was closer to home as I would be in there every week

Our first visit to the Rythre Arms since lockdown. Wow, fantastic food & wine. The best fillet steak ever. Service great. Very well looked after throughout.

Went for a meal when 1st reopened, and can not fault the visit. Management had clearly taken every step possible to make comfortable and safe for the guests and also for the staff. Service and food were excellent despite the difficulties. Thankyou all

First night after lockdown restrictions for restaurants end & the organisation in place is fantastic. Really well handled. The food was superb (ribs - amazing!!), fillet was so tender & delicious & the steak & ale pie delightful. Thank you so much. We weren’t sure what it would be like to be out but you made it as normal as possible. Very well managed & great service. We’ll be back soon.

Loved coming here when we lived in York, on a recent return visit it didn’t disappoint. I shared the Chateaubriand and it was excellent; fantastic meat and cooked to perfection! Accompanying sides were better than I remembered, perfectly cooked veg and good chips. Will return.

After a long drive on a cold and dark winters night we were please to find this restaurant.If you are not a meet lover than this is not one for youDespite its high prices the place was packed on a Saturday nightThe best bit for me about this restaurant is the deserts -fabulous - the treacle sponge and custard was 10 out of 10Did not like the taste of the chips and onion rings and the steak was not the best one I’ve tastedOverall given 4 out 5 for uniqueness of place and the fact staff are friendly

We had a lovely saturday evening at the Rythre Arms. The service was excellent, the food was fabulous. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere, good company and a very enjoyable night.

The restaurant itself is out in the sticks, i imagine it is a nicer place to be in the summer but there wasn't much scenery in the pitch black - when we walked in we were greeted quickly enough and shown to our table (we did try and add another guest to our party of 4 but they couldn't accommodate which surprised me when we sat down as it was half empty for at least 45 minutes during our meal - never mind)Now onto the meal & service, the steak itself was cooked perfectly for all of our table, we had the chateaubriand which was huge and tender and our friends had fillet - we all enjoyed but thought the sauce was a bit flavour less and the side accompaniments of chips and vegetables a little old fashioned in terms of the variety and presentation - i guess the whole emphasis of this place is MEAT. The dessert was nothing to write home about for any of us, we each tried something different and found it to nothing special and not something we would order again - its almost as if the desert is prepared much much earlier on in the week.One of the waitresses that served us was very miserable and 'blunt' - she wasn't exactly welcoming tbh, the rest seemed young and friendly.Thats my honest appraisal - we would return again but not somewhere we would go back to weekly.

Visited on Monday night with my partner among a group of friends,starters were fine the ribs and the mussels/prawns no real complaints For mains my partner ordered the large fillet which was fine and I ordered the larger t bone medium rare Well when it came it medium well god knows what the chef was doing to overcook it that much I immediately called the waitress and she offered to do another one,but when you go out in a group you all expect to eat together When the second one came everyone else was already well on the way with their meals,and it still wasn’t right it was rare rather than cooked correctly (picture attached)The waitress asked was it ok ?Maybe wrongly I said fine as I couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer We had all asked for separate bills and when our bill came it was £137 including one cheesecake dessert and a few drinks Not even so much as a complimentary drink knocked off the bill for the mess they made of the first steak !!If you are going to charge high end faultless food prices then the food has to match We had previously visited last year and my partners rib eye was shocking cooked badly and full of gristle so much so the lady owner knocked it off the bill altogether and apologised profusely I didn’t write a bad review then as genuinely thought it was a one off so gave the benefit of the doubt But sorry a poor experience twice in a row isn’t good especially when paying a lot of money We have dined at Matt Healy’s and the Wensleydale Heifer and the service and food for similar price point blows this out of the water I get the feeling this place is now living on its past reputation

We have been a number of times and its just perfect.... Excellent food, I mean seriously.... AMAZING. Big portions so any Yorkshire folk doing the Yorkshire war cry will realize its actually good value. Amazing staff who can't do enough

I have been many times over the years to the rythre arms when I first started going I went with friends then I started to go with my then wife when Eric was at the rythre I also delivered gas to the rythre it it is a place I would highly recommend you will not be disappointed

We went for dinner here a couple of nights ago, mainly on the back of the fantastic reviews this place has. In terms of the actual steak itself, I thought it was very good, although nothing better than you could do fry yourself in a few minutes if you had a decent butcher supplying you with good meat.The chips / wedges (which I'm pretty sure had been cooked from frozen) and veg was OK, but quite stingy in the portion. Peppercorn sauce (another £3 added to my £40 steak bill) was also OK, but nothing more.Certainly nothing that justifies some of the amazing reviews this place has.The Malbec we had (£32 I think) was again OK, but nothing special. Everything is pretty pricey, but if people keep paying it, I guess they'll be happy to keep charging it.Basically this place is a nice pub, selling decent steak at expensive restaurant prices. Nothing too memorable, and I'd be surprised if I made the effort to return.

This place is fab, a bit of a drive for us but worth the trip. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

The Best steak house period! We came here on my birthday also the same day I made my girlfriend my fiancé. The food was superb and the staff was 10/10. the owner was great and very polite & also gave us a complimentary bottle of bubble. All in all a great experience and would highly recommend to anybody.

Invited to this restaurant with a promise that the meals and especially the numerous steak dishes are out of this world. Despite the night being horrible rain with flooding dangers which made the 1 hour trip a bit perilous. Have to say. It was amazing. The service from start to finish was tremendous. The food indeed was out of this world for all 4 of us I can’t imagine the taste and size of the big steak on offer at over £60. As mine was ample at half the price but it was the taste that made it. Comparable to a place in France where we go regularly which is an accolade from us. To top it all Jam Roly Poly is on the sweet list. My all time favourite which seems to have disappeared from menus. I’m with Harry Redknapp on this one. If you have never been. Get booked in as I think it’s always full. We will definitely return but preferably on a warm dry summer evening. But you can’t blame the Rythre for the weather

Wanted to go for meal at this legendary steak pub for years and finally went two weeks ago. The building itself is charming and warm, the staff efficient and friendly. We had a filet and a rump and both were excellent, the menu was really helpful and we loved the whole experience. Only regret was having too big a steak and not leaving room for desert.

Visited the Rythre Arms for a significant birthday meal with friends. Most of our group, including the Birthday Boy had T Bone Steaks, medium rare. I had the 6 ounce fillet steak which I had asked to be cooked ‘well done’. What can I say, it was absolutely delish!!! Beautifully cooked, tender as a tender thing. Service was friendly and just the right amount of attention. Highly recommended. We will return.

I was really looking forward to going here, me and my partner love a steak and I had heard amazing reviews.

Quantity over quality. I ordered belly pork that I had to saw through, it was dried out and had no flavour and was served on a bed of raw onion for some reason. I had to leave the table in order to spit out the fibrous, chewy meat that I just couldn’t swallow. This is the third time I’ve tried this restaurant and I’ve not had an enjoyable meal yet. Given the pricing it’s a bit disappointing to have to make something to eat when I got home. I really don’t understand what all the fuss is about.

Although many dishes such as the steaks and fish are suitable for gluten free diets, my wife fancied the beef Wellington, which is not gluten free. We contacted the restaurant a couple of days before our booking and quickly got a reply from Tony saying 'no problem, we'll do a gluten free version for you on the night'

Nothing Special. The 12 Oz Rib Eye was 'good' but not sure it delivered my expectations for the price. The service & ambience very quickly changed however when some 'regulars' arrived for dinner. It was then time to leave. Sorry wont be rushing back.

Wow, having been promised by friends to be taken to this steak restaurant I was not disappointed. The menu is a delight, steaks for every palate and an extensive menu apart. I had a medium TBone and the rest of the party had Fillet, all agreed it was amazing. Great atmosphere, brilliant service will so look forward to going back.

As it was my birthday it was my choice and as I hadn't had a decent steak for a long time, there was only one choice really. Out of 5 of us, 4 had steak and everyone really enjoyed them and were cooked to perfection, my T bone steak was superb and reminded me of T bone steaks I used to have in South Africa. Both the ambience and staff were first class. This restaurant is not your pub type food, they specialise in steaks and the superb quality reflects the prices charged, well worth the money. If you are looking for a treat or special occasion you can't go far wrong, highly recommend.

Incredible steak. We’ve been 3 or 4 times over the last few years and every meal has been incredible! We’ve chosen options from the main and early bird menu’s and both have left us feeling more than satisfied with the quality of the meal served. If you love big cuts of steak this place is a must. Can be a little on the expensive side compared to other places but I’d suggest that the quality you’re served here is way above average so there is the trade off in terms of you get what you pay for and certainly if you feel the cost is a little pricey just be sure to at least give the place a try. I can almost guarantee you’ll want to return (if you’re a steak fan at least).

Lovely ambience and we were greeted nicely by the bar staff. Service throughout the meal was excellent and the food was really good. I had the mussels to start and they were the best ones I have ever had - they were huge! I am a big fish lover so had swordfish for main course and it was awesome, cooked just right and not dried out like some places do. the steaks that others had were cooked to perfection and there was plenty of veg to go around all of us - we were stuffed. there are some pretty special desserts too. all in all, it was great

We booked here for partner's birthday, and we were not disappointed.

If you want to try something that you can’t get nearby the travel is definitely worth it. We went from Hull. The food was beautiful, it was really organised and the staff were attentive but not overly and very polite. I probably wouldn’t go for a steak because we have a good steakhouse nearby and it’s a bit far to travel for a steak but you can’t get ribs or lamb like this!! It’s a must and I will definitely return at some point in the future!!!!!

We visited on a busy Sunday evening, we were welcomed by friendly staff who showed us to our allotted table. The same staff throughout the evening being attentive to our table. We chose Chateaubriand which arrived cooked to our requirements, was 100% tender and contained no fat or gristle....excellent. I have however awarded 4 out of 5 stars as there were a couple of aspects we were not totally enthralled with:-

We have been meaning to try this place for a number of years after friends recommended it and we finally visited for a birthday treat last week. Located in the small village of Rythre it is certainly off the beaten track. A small car park provides off street parking for this popular and busy pub. Upon entering we made our way to the bar area and the serving staff ushered us straight through to one of a number of seating areas where menus and drinks orders were sorted. Although the menu provides plenty of alternatives; this is a Steak House and having read the good reviews, we both decided a choice of aged beef. No sooner had our drinks arrived, we were asked to choose from the menu, I ordered a starter of pan roasted scallops (£15) and then the smaller T Bone, which at just under £50 is quite expensive. I also asked for a wine list which appeared to throw the young waiter who was heard to ask “do we have a wine list?” The wine list appeared and I chose a pleasant Malbec to accompany the steaks. Despite being busy, my scallops appeared almost immediately and were a very generous portion, accompanied with a tasty source. No sooner had my plate been cleared then the steaks arrived, far too soon for my liking and although cooked medium rare, both had not been rested and were still bleeding out. The accompanying chips were nothing special and it all felt a bit rushed (and expensive). Overall, in reality we felt that this is just a pub serving pub food that has somehow built a reputation for big steaks. If you’re prepared to pay £50 for the privilege of experiencing this, good luck, we certainly won’t again!

By York standards this is an Expensive Restaurant but, at least on our visit provided full value for the money charged.

Superb food, good service, good value for money. The Rythre Arms is tucked away in the middle of nowhere but make the effort to find it and you won't be disappointed.

We were very disappointed. The steak was nice but all the extras were not good at all. The chips were soggy and very pale, onion rings had a lot of thick spongy batter round them. What a let down, would not go again

After hearing lots of good things, we came here for my Dad's 50th Birthday. A few of us arrived early to dress the table, and the staff had already put out confetti on the table for the occasion.

For many recent years I have been in search of a good steak. That is to say tender, no gristle, cooked perfectly and tasty. I have paid all sorts of prices and always been disappointed.

2nd visit here and the food is wonderful. If your passion is for steak then this is the place for you. Good service and beautifully clean. Looking forward to our next visit. Well worth the money

We hadn’t been to the Rythre Arms for 20 years and thought we’d give it another try as it had been poor the last time we went.

I had heard good reports about this place and so decided that I must give it a try as I love steak.

From arriving to leaving, the entire experience was fantastic. The waiting staff were great, catering to everything we asked for and the chef really know how to cook their meat. Thank you everyone, including the maitre d', for making my wife and my anniversary meal a fantastic one.

called in for our anniversary celebration meal and as usual everything first class great food/good service /lovely cozy ambiance always a pleasure to patronise a well managed professional independent restaurant back again shortly Brian

Went to the ryther arms for a meal ,was lovely im not usually a steak fan but i must say ths was lovely ,my son is a big steak fan and he sid it was amazing, everything was very well cooked onion rings where very tasty ,so any one eho likes steak this is the one you must try ,thankyou for a fabulous meal ,

Very disappointed. The rest of the family ordered steaks which were nice. I ordered swordfish which arrived overcooked. I was offered a replacement which arrived as my family were completing there main meal. The replacement swordfish was also inedible as it was raw. Whilst we were not charged for my meal there was no gesture of good will offer as any kind of compensation. The a la carte menu is charged at a premium and whilst the restaurant is not a regular haunt of ours (due to distance) we have frequented the restaurant on several occasions. I am disappointed to think that a restaurant of this calibre managed to spoil two swordfish steaks I am also disappointed as it spoilt what should have been a lovely family get together.

Only been once prior to this visit and I’ve been wanting to come back ever since, so we took the opportunity and had a Sunday night date night, and it didn’t disappoint.

We love rythre arms and it never disappoints I looked on the app Thursday really I didn’t think there would be any availability for the Friday especially as there was 5 of us but a table for 8.15 was there so booked it online we arrived and was seated straight away and as always brilliant service and amazing steak only let down were the onion rings they’re were so over cooked some had no onions in but will still be returning many times in the future

Visited recently excellent choice of food.The steaks were excellent and the accompaniments were lovely.The service was good and unobtrusive.Quite pricey but the quality was excellent and would definitely visit again as there was a huge choice which I would love to try!

I took the family for a celebration meal knowing it was going to be excellent and I wasn't disappointed. We all had different meals and each one was as beautifully presented and delicious as the next. There was plenty of everything to go around.

Sunday afternoon visit. I have heard all the hype about this place and my husband used to visit quite regularly but years and years ago. We were in York for the weekend with friends from Edinburgh. We decided to book as they wanted a good steak. The village and the surrounding areas are so very pretty and seen in the best light as the weather was glorious. On arrival I was surprised to see this small pub in the middle of a village. We went for the set early menu in the Stable Bar. The steaks were beautiful cooked and so tasty. We chose a 32oz a 16oz and two 8oz. Perfection!! The sides were generous portions and I’ve not had chips like this since my mammy used to make them!!! The dessert portions were huge and presented well. You know that if people travel to a tiny village to a small venue then it must be something special and it did not disappoint. Five stars from us. Thank you.

If you enjoy steak then this is the place to go. Even the steak pie is full of fillet steak. If you are in a larger group then booking is essential as it gets quite busy.

Sunday lunch. Great welcome by a big friendly barman and a decent selection of ales. Lots of atmosphere and got to our table within ten minutes. Excellent fresh onion bread. Shared the flash fried prawns, great but too many onions. 6oz sirloin and 12oz fillet, perfect straight up, no sauces. Sides still crunchy enough to be perfect too. Cheese board had Stilton, cheddar and Brie with Carr’s table water and a decent port. Sponge pudding good as well, all washed down with a reasonably priced South African merlot. Friendly and efficient service with big smiles. So, what’s not to like? It is a little pricey, it is a little out of the way, and the portions are large but it is good..! We’ll go again.

We visited with friends who we haven't seen for a while. It must be 20 years since we last ate here. The food was fantastic and service friendly 3 Steaks cooked to perfection and some extremely tasty Ribs. 2 sweets to share a perfect evening

Came here last night with another couole who have never been before. And it was amazingggg... meat just melts in your mouth and the side orders are just as good!

Went to the Rythre Arms on Saturday for an early birthday meal, arrived 20 minutes early but our table was ready so we were seated straight away. The table had been decorated and set up for us before we arrived. Within 45 minutes we placed our order and had it brought out to us. Very friendly staff, steak was delicious as always and would definitely go back!

Wow still getting over the 32 Oz steak my partner and son choose. I had the sirloin. Lovely meal, lots of chips & onion rings. Veg cooked to perfection. The deserts were amazing too. Service was prompt and excellent. Thank you.

Meal for two on Sunday 10th March, staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was excellent as always, and the beef wellington second to none. You need a good appetite as they do not serve small portions. Thank you Rythre Team you made it a very special night.

Didn't go mad with huge steaks which is always the temptation, but result had an excellent all round meal in a friendly atmosphere. Also had enough room for a very tasty sweet.

We went for my birthday but didn’t take any younger children as there isn’t a kids menu (smaller portions of normal menu) car park very small for how busy it gets but we were early so managed to get parked.

We have wanted to try this place for a while and so glad we did! Both our steaks were amazing perfectly cooked I had the jubilee tbone my partner had a fillet! Chips and veg were great plenty for 2 people. Definitely try the ryther steak sauce, I couldn’t get enough of it! A little pricey but for a great steak like that I wasn’t bothered. It Dosnt open until 6pm I believe, we arrived early wanting to have a drink at the bar we had to wait 15 mins. My own fault for not looking. The car park is opposite the pub, not down the side/back. Have just booked in for our return!

Enjoyed every morsel of it, we all did. Fillet steak x 2 and ribeye x 2 all done to perfection. There was no room for a desert so we ordered one sticky toffee pudding and 4 spoons delicious.

I've been wanting to come here for a long time and my son wanted to treat me for my birthday, I can honestly say my wait was well worth it. We got the 30oz rump of the early bird menu it was cooked to perfection, the chips were real double cooked chips and onion rings were beautiful with a well made batter,and the ryther sauce accompanied the meal wonderfully

Just got home after a beautiful meal at The Rythre, only second time I’ve been but enjoyed both times. Steak was cooked to perfection and the chips are to die for. Will definitely be back. Friendly staff and very attentive. Thank you.

On our visit we all had starters which were awesome, very tasty and more than enough, great value for money. The service was fast and friendly. For main courses we had a variety of meals, two of which were the steak. They were very good meals and far too much to eat (which isn’t a bad thing at all!) but I would say the main meals are overpriced. There are many local country pubs that have just as good pieces of steak a lot cheaper.

Great food with great friends, would recommend to anybody you won't be disappointed. The steak was beautiful but I think I over did it with the side salad 😂😂

This is a beautiful quaint place to relax and eat. I would highly recommend booking a table otherwise you may be very disappointed. Prices very much in keeping with quality of food. Service friendly polite and not too in your face. Definitely one to return to.

As a group of four we all were very impressed with the food and service. Steak was fabulous and cooked just how we liked it and tasted great. Plus plenty of chips, veg & mushrooms. Looking forward to visiting again.

Lovely little restaurant. Not what you would imagine it is really small. Personally it is a little over priced for what it is.

Steak was overpriced and over cooked. Asked for a rare steak however more like medium. Despite there being four us eating we were provided with one small plate of veg and chips which can only be described as microwaved Aunt Bessie roasts. Despite checking that the chips would be chips we were presented with small reheated roast potatoes, luckily we only got about two each. Poor service very inattentive and the best way to describe the staff is down right miserable. When paying the prices they charge the food and service really needs to be better. Will not be returning.

Went for a meal with family with high expectations of the quality but was disappointed to find my T bone was full of sinew and I was unable to cut through it, never mind eat it. To be fair I did complain and the manageress apologised profusely ,with a discount given on the meal but it certainly spoiled my evening. After spending what should have been a bill approaching £130.00 for 3 of us on just a main course I really don't think I would drive nearly an hour to get there again in a hurry. In my mind just didn't live up to the hype, Interesting that it is famous for the steak, but the person in our party who enjoyed their meal most had lamb,

My partner had eaten at The Rythre Arms some years ago and we decided to go for a pre-Christmas celebration. What an utter disappointment! Two 8oz rib-eyes and onion rings and 2 G&Ts; and we reluctantly parted with nearly £70.

We showed up without a reservation, and although the restaurant was fully booked, the lady manager welcomed us with a smile and found for five people a nice table. Excellent food, service, and decor. We are definitely coming back again.
