Atmosphere was lovely with live music, the drinks were nice and we were served quickly. Bar staff did mix up one of our orders but it was an easy mistake. Only real complaint is that it's a bit expensive!

I just don't have a negative thing to say abut this place. Been going there over the years from time to time and it's never a bad pick.

The worst food I ever had. I never leave negative reviews but this time I couldn’t help it. Honestly, I don’t understand how it’s possible to serve this kind of food. The burger was like a Tesco burger, my partner had Chicken roast, which was very close to the chicken served at the hospital and also the brownie was like a dry cake without taste (how is this possible for a dessert?!). The place was nice and the staff very kind and helpful, but guys, no, it’s not ok selling food like that. Yes, it’s a pub, but if you serve food, it can’t be like this.

A very welcoming feel pub, just off one of the main shopping streets, in amongst, what I would class the far east quarter for food. The beer was good and went down a treat. The evening we went there was live music, Which wasn't banging out the sound, you could still talk. Would go back there again.

Would not return due to one barmaid. Visited yesterday evening to get together with the family, who we all haven’t seen together in a long time and thought coming to this pub would be a good. However one rude barmaid (short haired brunette no glasses black T-shirt and blue jeans, unfortunately did not get her name) was extremely rude to all that brought drinks within our group of 14. She was constantly asking for ID even though we had been checked at the door by the wonderful door lady. I understand that the bar needs to check to ensure that all are over age at the public house. However the way in which she went about it felt like we were under investigation by the police each time we ordered a round asking each drink orders who this was for and then asking them to come to the bar to show ID. She also mentions check 25 was easily visible behind the bar for all to see however after spending over 4 hours at the pub the poster was not visible for all to see. Yes it was on the lanyard however she had to turn hers around each time to check out ID to show this. Her attitude was poor and disrespectful to all that she served. We will not return whilst she is there... All other barman and women apologised for her behaviour as we were served so clearly they are aware of it. Shame as the rest of the evening was wonderful apart from this bar lady. Will not be returning......

My go to for a quiet drink in Brighton during the day and a busy friendly pub in the evening with live music and good food. Lovely staff. Plenty of space, inside and out.

Nice just off the centre grid pub. Always pleasant service, good beer range if a little too Molson Coors centric for my taste but locals including 360 makes up for it.

Really great pub with a gorgeous real fire. We visited on Boxing Day and enjoyed a delicious curry each. The kitchen were happy to prepare my yellow vegetable curry without chilli as I cannot have anything spicy. The kitchen were also very happy to accommodate vegan options. And the prices are good, too! The staff are very friendly and astute when it comes to 'Challenge 25' which is refreshing as so many places seem to serve seemingly 16 year olds unchallenged! Great selection of ales, wines and spirits with happy hour from 5-7pm Monday to Friday. We highly recommend and will be visiting again.

On my recent visit I found this place a little cold (not just the temperature). Staff feel like they dont want to be there or maybe it's the embarrassment of having to ask for £6.70 for a pint of Guinness? So many alternative stouts availabe localy at a more accessible price.

A lovely pub with a warm welcome. It's selling point for us is the Thai food served. No typical pub food here but delicious light tasty food ideal for lunch. Try ib the summer when the garden oasis is open such a little out of the way haunt. It is worth a try. Good value. Choice of 3 light dishes for £11.

First time visiting will definitely go again.

We fancied a Sunday lunch went there. £17 for some roast beef that was impossible to cut because it was practically raw. The presentation was disgusting: the raw beef twirled around a roast potato.The 3 roast potatoes weren't even roast potatoes...I don't know what they were, but they were hard. The gravy tasted of curry, which I hate. I ate one mouthful then walked out. Not an experience to be repeated.

One of the best Sunday roasts I've had in the centre of Brighton

Had a three day visit to Brighton and stumbled on this pub. From the outside it’s a traditional English pub, but the twist is that it serves great Thai food. They offer a lunch time menu for £6.99 which includes a starter and a main. The food and service is great. They also welcome pets. A big recommend for anyone visiting Brighton.

Spent 3 nights in brighton and spent all 3 nights in the Royal sovereign. Didn't eat so can't comment on food. Had a different singer each night and all three singers were great. Lots of people dancing and atmosphere was terrific. No trouble, just people having a great time. Bar staff were very attentive. Wished my local was this one! Will definitely be back next time we are in brighton. Thank you Royal sovereign for a great time.

Cheeky 0% bottled beer just before close on sunday, sat in beer/smoking out back.. Entrance is up few steps so may cause issue for some. Staff friendly, beer garden lively and well maintained. Can't comment/rate food as it was 30mins before closing on sunday & the bar man was good enough to let us grab round of drink..👍

The pork roast was disappointing _ the piece of meat was very small and the cracking was deep fried and tasted of old oil. The vegetables were boiled rather than roasted. The staff were friendly though , it's just a shame about the food!

This pub is staffed by young people who dont know how to act in hospitality business , they are rude and ignorant , the manager only being in her 20`s. £7.95 for a glass of HOUSE wine is the most expensive in the area , the beer is also way over priced , probably wouldnt mind if it was a luxuriour decored bar , but its not , its a keekhole ,

A short stroll from Brighton centre and you’ll find this gem. A well stocked bar serving beers is always a good start. Finding out that they serves Thai at ridiculously cheap prices was a real bonus fast forward the food arrives and it tastes amazing with portions and quality both disproportionate to the price. If you like beer and Thai in a nice relaxed pub environment playing some great music in the background then this is worth a visit one afternoon.

6.25 for a Guinness then overcharged for 2 tonic's . What a rip off even for Brighton in not even a busy area No Wonder it's dead

I went to this pub with my boyfriend and grabbed a table while he got the drinks. He then came to get my ID to show the bar staff. However the most bizarre thing happened when this young girl appeared at the end of the table holding my own ID in her hands and abruptly said ‘when is your birthday’ I said the month and the day and she looked at me blankly and said nothing. I then said the year and she practically threw my ID back at me without an ounce of apology or explanation. A very bizarre and rude strategy. I can see from reviews I’m not the only one to experience the strange ID- obsessed woman. Policy is obviously one thing, but manners cost nothing!

I am all for giving young people an opportunity when they are up for the job, but the young girl behind the bar calling herself the manager, was rude, unprofessional and patronising. She certainly lacked maturity but perhaps she has not been given training in customer service. We ordered two large glasses of wine which as we know is not an unsignificant amount of money but it was totally undrinkable and would have taken the lining off my stomach. We politely asked if we could change it to which she simply said no. Her reason being, no one else had complained!! We even offered to just swap it for half a lager at considerably less cost and she still refused. We were just flabagasted at her unwillingness to apease a customer. Just rude. A pub is only as good as the staff, such a shame, it used to be a really good pub.

Absolutely fantastic staff, a group of older ladies were hurling abuse at the staff, and the staff handled it so professionally and politely. And when they served us, and did it like nothing happened. Props to them. 10/10 service and drinks were banging!!!

The meal was huge and well priced at £15.50 for beef. It came with lots of veg. We couldn’t eat all the food - and we are all big eaters. They were happy to bring out more gravy when I asked. It was surprisingly quiet (though it was Pride weekend). I’d definitely return.

We’ve been to Brighton so many times and never seen the lovely pub. We visited a couple of times whilst we were there and the staff were so friendly. Food was amazing and a definite must. Do try the cocktails. Happy hour every day 5-7pm

Buen pub, he estado aquí las dos últimas veces que visitamos Brighton. El personal es educado y amable, las bebidas son de precio medio y la zona exterior es cómoda y bien iluminada y climatizada. Came across this pub by chance . Found it extremely friendly, great service . The bartenders work non stop to serve, clean up and chat to clients . It was a stormy night but lovely and warm inside with the coal fire .

We stopped by for a drink on a Monday afternoon and went to the bar but no-one was there. We waited a while, someone twice came in and out of a door marked "Staff only" but didn't serve us or alert someone else that we were waiting. After a few minutes we gave up as we hadn't been served and went elsewhere.

We were recommended this pub from a list at our hotel. We certainly weren’t disappointed. Sitting there eating my Padthai I could have been at my favourite Bangkok street food vendor, it was superb.

Vine aquí para una bebida / comida antes de hacer una sala de escape. Sugerí al soberano real porque sabía que tenía un gran jardín e hizo una buena selección de cervezas.Nos sentamos en uno de los largos bancos. Todos pedimos por separado, así que nuestra comida salió en diferentes momentos, lo que no fue un problema "Aunque creo que uno de mis colegas estaba esperando bastante tiempo su plato". Tuve el pollo pad thai que era normal ya un precio razonable. Mirando a su alrededor el curry Panang y el curry verde, también parecían igual de buenos.Bebimos unas cervezas y gin más y nos dirigimos a nuestra sala de escape.Buen pub para fumadores y grupos de 5/6 que quieren sentarse juntos afuera.Volveremos para más bebidas y aperitivos en el futuro.

La parada del almuerzo en nuestros viejos camina alrededor nostálgicos (para nosotros) Brighton. Una vez más, mejoró mucho desde la última vez que estuve aquí hace unos diez años, pero todavía es un Sov. El menú tailandés fue perfecto para la ocasión y con once de nosotros, cubrimos la mayoría de los platos. Un titular y un plato principal para menores de 7 años se consideró el mejor valor. Gran variedad de cervezas y todos los otros tipos de bebidas y me sentí como un pub muy usado. Jardín funcional con una variedad de tamaños de mesas al sol o sombra.

Originalmente entramos para salir de la lluvia con nuestro perro. La gente aquí fue tan amable que volvimos al día siguiente para el almuerzo. La comida aquí es excelente ya un precio muy razonable. Hice una visita de tres días a Brighton y tropecé en este pub. Desde el exterior es un pub tradicional inglés, pero el toque es que sirve excelente comida tailandesa. Ofrecen un menú a la hora del almuerzo para 6. 99 que incluye un arranque y un principal. La comida y el servicio es excelente. También dan la bienvenida a las mascotas. 6 of us were here all afternoon....we had good food and great service and spent lots of money, until for some unexplicable reason we were told we would not be served any more. We weren't aware of any problem and no reason was given. Very disappointed. Had many good experiences here before but will never go back. Age group was 30s to 70s and professional clients.... You will never see any of us again, or any other people we know. We will continue to spread this feedback, so you reap what you sow. Pathetic,

We were visiting Brighton and popped into this pub on Sunday lunchtime and noticed that they normally serve Thai food in the week, but on Sunday they have a roast menu. We were slightly disappointed as we love Thai, but decided on looking at what was being served to other customer that we would go for it. The food was exceptional! Up there with your best home cooked roast dinner, with a choice of beef, pork, chicken and vegetarian and vegan options, that looked great. We had more vegetables than we expected and with a home created gravy. It was far too much for me, but my husband demolished his meal! Not only that, but they have jazz musicians playing in the afternoon! We stayed 5 hours; pre drink, Sunday lunch and then enjoying the band! What a treat! We will definitely return next time we are in Brighton on a Sunday!

We had the Sunday Roast at the Royal Sovereigen. Chicken, pork and beef. All of them super scrumptious and Rene the lovely lady working here was charming as hell! Love this pub will always come back here. Definitely an amazing Roast!
