So glad we are able to eat indoors once again. The oak is a very good place. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals, the beef was mouth watering tender. Staff were excellent as always, special mention to Barry for his kindness. We will be back very soon.

We ordered a cook at home Valentine's dinner. It was sublime and a very good example of the chef's immense talent, especially when stepping away from the fare that makes up the menu in the pub. The prepped food was excellently packaged and looked fabulous before we cooked it. The instructions were clear and the overall delivery of the box was very nice. The food tasted amazing when we had cooked it. 6 courses for two - £80 for a very high end meal experience at home. Up there with the best. Well done. We hope they do more of these.

It was my mums 60th Birthday the 23rd Jan and there was a party plan, until Covid. So, we thought we would still make some effort and order several starters and mains from Royal Oak and we were not disappointed!!All the food was just as good as it would have been had we been in the restaurant, all hot once we got home and well packaged! Would highly recommend to anyone, and the BBQ Pork Belly was amazing!

I ate here tonight with my family for the first time on a recommendation from a friend. The food was what I can only describe as amazing. We all had a starter, main and dessert and every course was perfect. I would really struggle to find any fault with the food we ate.The service was also second to none. We were looked after by a waitress named Jade who is a massive credit to ‘The Royal Oak’. We couldn’t have asked for anybody better to have looked after us during our evening. Jade was very friendly, helpful and made us feel so relaxed. Even our two year old daughter took a liking to her straight away. Thank you Jade.I would definitely recommend ‘The Royal Oak’ to anybody who wishes to eat exceptional food in a lovely setting with great service.Thank you and we will definitely be visiting again!

We arrived at the pub at around 7 o’clock on a Wednesday night. A few tables were taken but the restaurant as a whole was pretty quiet. We were told by the RUDE manager that we would have to wait 20 minutes for a table. We decided to wait after rave reviews of family and friends so we got a drink in the bar. My husband then asked for some for menus to look over as we were waiting, which was refused by the manager who stated the menus were for the 7:15 reservations, however just 1 table of 4 came in at this time ! After 20 minutes the manager took us to our table (which was free when we arrived earlier ?!). After another 20 minutes of waiting the waitress took our order.... 10 minutes after this the table behind ordered too. To our surprise the table behind (that had ordered the exact same meals) received their food before us! We had to wait an additional 10 minutes for our food to arrive, which was okay but nothing to shout about. We were then asked if we’d like to look at the dessert menu which we accepted, after 15 minutes of waiting for them to come I had to ask the manager for them !! Very poor all round from all the staff ! Unimpressed with the dissatisfying service and will NOT RETURN.

We have been regular customers at the Royal Oak over the years & always had good service and meals . . . until yesterday (Tuesday) lunchtime. You expect three things when you enter a restaurant: to be given a table, a menu & offered drinks. So we were given a table in full sight of the lady in charge and were then ignored for ten minutes, at which point we got up and left. As we left, the lady offered the excuse that there was a problem with the gas in the kitchen. We couldn`t see how this affected the offer of menus and drinks.

As soon as we stepped in side we are greeted by a friendly receptionist and found a table for two and left a menu. We ordered a drink - an excellent Merlot and a pint of the local beer Thwaites Bitter. My wife ordered Steak and Ale Pie with Red Cabbage and French Fries with a small jug of gravy - one of the best pies with good pastry and full of rich tasting Steak and Ale. I ordered a bowl of Mushroom Soup with Truffle Oil - a good sized bowl with soup which was so smooth and tasty. Then I followed the soup with a starter size portion of a menu "special" - Harrissa Spiced King Prawns with Red Lentil Daal and cinnamon flat bread - it was just delicious full of of the lightly spiced flavour . We just had room left to share a pudding - one of the best ever Vanilla Creme Brulee with fresh Raspberries and a scoop of Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream. The cost of all our food and drink was just £42-15p which we thought was excellent value and our very friendly waitress received a well deserved tip. We will certainly be going again.

This time it was another staff member, in all honesty she looked like she didn't care whether she served us or not. Quite a surly unapproachable attitude, made us feel like she was doing us a favour. The staff were slow in taking order and removing plates, girl passed our table twice after delivering food to another table,.young man from bar brought drinks to a near by table did not ask if we wanted more or did not remove plates. Mains were removed but not asked did we want a sweet, we had to catch her attention, we chose our sweets and waited and waited. In the end we got up and paid, our dinning experiance was not good as a child of about 3 was leading an Australian Ridgeback ( for readers who do not know this is a big dog its head is table height) no control and was around when eating. Getting in the way of serving staff Mother kept telling her but child paid no attention , they then took lead off her she then started screaming loudly so they gave her the lead back.

We have eaten here several times, our friends who we were with on Saturday evening, had even been for lunch on the Tuesday as the food is so good and the specials menu is as good as any restaurant and in many cases better. Two of us had one of the fish specials, Hake and the other two of us rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly followed by a lovely creme brulee. Recommend you book in advance so as not to be disappointed.

Visited here on a Friday lunch time at 12.30. We were made very welcome by the two ladies behind thee bar where we had a drink. Bar has a good selection and a particularly good pint of dark mild. We wee then shown to a nice table where we had starters including Black pudding ith quail eggs and Flat mushrooms with blue cheese. Main courses of Lamb Rumps, Ok amb shanks and beef and ale pies. Vegetable selection was good and real chips with the pies and they are REAL chips! We finished with desserts of Creme Brulé, sticky toffee pudding and caramel Bakewell tart. All desserts came with a very good quality ice creme and were beautifully presented, as was all the food. This is a real gem of a pub and restaurant and I wish we had something remotely like this in the village I live in.

This is our first visit, and we were not disappointed! The pub itself is lovely, looked hard to find a cobweb but none found The staff and service is brilliant and the food is fabulous. We all had a 3-course meal and agreed the food was delicious. Well worth a trip out, and looking forward to our next visit - well done to all involved, we shall be back. 10/10 top marks.

Planned to stop for a bite to eat when taking a family friend back home to Blackpool area. Car park was small and busy, but able to park in the disabled bay with elderly family friend. Food menu was limited but acceptable, possibly overpriced for the portion sizes however very good food on dining. Reasonable selection at the bar and nice seating area.

Food excellent, service excellent, Beer superb - would have been Five stars but what spoiled it was getting charged £1.50 for a small glass of weak Lime & Soda which was 60% ice & costs 30p in our locals. Not really encouraging the Non Driver

Upon reading the allergy list at the bottom of the menu, which was so extensive it was airing on ridiculous. My son is allergic to peanuts so we approached the lady who appeared to be in charge. Upon questioning her about the menu all she would say was "I've covered myself"! We dine out regularly and are usually met with understanding, but not here. Restaurants like this need to shape up and welcome people with food allergies assuring them that they will take care preparing their food. That's all they ask!

We like to try new places and when a friend recommended this pub for nice food and friendly environment it was an easy choice for our next night out. I rang after 4ish to reserve a table for two for the same evening. They had 6:30 or 8:30 so we opted for the later table. Upon arriving the car park was pretty full (always a good sign, if people travel to eat at a place it must be good). The smell of a traditional fire filled the air and made it feel more welcoming.

We had booked. As it was full & this was only a Wednesday,we're glad we did. Food good |& service & service excellent. The very cheerful waitress asked if she should take a photo of the specials board so that we could look at it at the table.instead of having to stand in front of it. What a brilliant idea. We shall be doing this evertwhere we go now.

Visited here for tea on Friday night. Very impressed! Since I last went there has been a refurbishment and it looks very nice. The menu is quite limited side and the food is on the higher end for a pub (nearly £13 for a cheese and onion pie) however everything we got was delicious. I would recommend the prawns for starter. Overall excellent visit. I would go here again.
