I saw from my TA review that we have not been back her for four years. Too long!!My husband and I brought a family member along for dinner last night; It was really busy, a nice friendly atmosphere. One steak pie, one ribs and fish and chips and everyone was happy and satisfied. Tho the other half of course had room for a chocolate tart with mango sorbet. That went down very quickly and he enjoyed it.Just to mention the staff - very professional and all rules for Covid up and running.Let's hope we come back again before four years.

Called in for a bite to eat and really enjoyed our meal. We both had chicken as our main which was delicious Friendly service and a nice ambience too. Couldn’t understand why TV’s on the wall were on though with no sound? A bit distracting when they didn’t need to be on at all.

Went to place but had not booked a table. Were told we had to wait an hour. Shortly after we were told a table had become free and would have it i. 10 mins. Thanked them. Unfortunately had to wait over half an hour after ordering meals. One meal was as expected the other was not. Their vegetarian curry was more like veg stew. Needed a spoon to eat it. Did not complain as starving. Pompadom was overdone on one side. Cost was approx £13 each.

We are a large family group looking to meet up before Christmas to exchange gifts. As we were travelling from all directions we picked a venue roughly equidistant for all of us(60 miles each). What a gem the Royal Oak is. There were 19 of us, adults, children and babies but the owners and staff could not have been more helpful, and we were not the only party. . The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Many thanks, we will return.

Family gathered today from Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire at the Royal Oak East Bridgford. Not having been here before i really relied on trip advisor and the comments left on the site as to the suitability for us as a family. I booked about 6 weeks ago for a table of 18 plus 2 high chairs. When we arrived a little bit early our tables were all laid out ready. The service was quick and efficient. When the food arrived it all looked amazing and no complaints whatsoever. The Royal Oak will be where, in future years we will meet up with family.

We’ve just enjoyed a beautiful Sunday Lunch here. The roast beef in particular was absolutely gorgeous! As it was a Grandparents birthday we had a baby and a 3 year old with us, as it’s only a smaller venue it isn’t really suitable for small children. Only because my daughter kept getting in the way of the servers and with the baby crying I was conscious of disturbing everyone’s meals. The owners and staff were extremely patient and couldn’t help us enough though, we will certainly be returning when we have a babysitter!

This is a welcoming pub/restaurant. When we visited on a Friday lunchtime, it was not over-busy. Food service was prompt. The option of one, two or three courses for a set price was useful, though with more choice on the a la carte menu. The Tempura Haddock was very good, light and not too large a portion. Sticky Toffee Pud was also good. The resident old dog happens along under the tables every now and then hoovering up dropped food - we found it amusing.

About 24 of us had been booked in for lunch by our club. Seated quickly at the appointed time, a 20 minute wait ensued whilst we waited for our choices, which had been pre-ordered by phone some days before... me 'n' er chose the traditional beef Sunday lunch. The beef was excellent, cooked pink and a generous portion, the Yorkshire pudding huge - but only warm - and without taste; the gravy rich, tasty, and apparently home made. Sadly, however, the less than generous portion of roast potatoes was tough and very hard to cut, the supply of other veg was generous - with extra on offer on request - but the cauli was hard and under cooked, carrots crisp, and broccoli, green beans and peas were fine.

I know I have reviewed the Royal Oak before but it really does justify another. The pub is about 8 miles away so it is no hardship to jump in the car for an impromtptu meal as we did yesterday. There were the familiar smiles of greeting. It is like entering a large family home. The staff from the highest to the lowest are such good friends and that friendship spreads to the customers. There seem to be three menus - pub snacks, standard menu and the specials of the week. I was seriously tempted by the maple and green pepper glazed duck breast but then there was the fresh asparagus and blue cheese salad or the wild mushroom risotto with baby spinach. We were genuinely spoilt for choice but I settled on the sauted lanb's kidneys with a bacon and sherry sauce and grilled bread to mop it up with. The flavour was so deep you could swim in it. They are so accommodating. If you don't fancy one ingedient in a dish they are happy to change it or you can have a starter as a main course. Nothing seems too much trouble. The wines are well kept and reasonably priced while my Badger bitter was just right.. The menu caters for all tastes - steak lovers, fish fanciers, vegetarians, large appetites or small. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

The prawn starter was excellent and we all opted for the roast beef which was just perfect with lots of gravy (they even gave us an extra jug which we asked for), great crispy potatoes and not over cooked veg. We couldn't stretch to the dessert but if our experience of the first two courses was anything to go by I am sure that this would not disapoint too. We had been allocated a very good table with plenty of space (for humans and dogs!) and were looked after very well by a professional team of people.I had the roast beef which was delicious but other members of the group spoke equally highly of the roast pork and roast chicken. The desserts were equally delicious and generous portions - I had the Eton mess which was yummy! There were five of us and we had a range of soft and alcoholic drinks and coffees and the total bill came to £90 which I deemed to be very good value indeed, especially as the service and the way we were looked after and made to feel so welcome was excellent. Visiting my daughter at Nottingham Uni with Nan in tow, my wife and I wanted a nice pub meal on Saturday night away from the city. I stumbled on this place as the reviews on Trip Advisor were very good and although about 40 minutes from Nottingham it was well worth it. We had a mixture of choices for starter such as King Prawn, Mushroom Ciabatta and Ribs. The presentation was excellent as was the food. Then came the mains and I had one the largest pieces of gammon I had every eaten, it was very thick and moist.Others enjoyed the fish and chips and the pie of the day (Steak and Ale). In fact the pie beat my daughter who couldn't eat everything and we were all too full up to help out. The portions needless to say were very generous but the quality and presentation were first class. We couldn't even manage a dessert but we will be back and hope to try some of the sweets on the menu. I would thoroughly recommend this pub and restaurant and would also mention prices are also reasonable. A great evening out with a full and happy family at the end. The service was first class, not too over zealous but there immediately if you needed something. The decor is also fresh and bright, not the typical dowdy pub sporting red carpets and dark walls.

We visited on a Thursday for a quick meal early doors and took advantage of the early bird offer. Both the pie and chips and fish and chips were large, lovely and quality. The service was friendly and relaxed. The restaurant is popular with people obviously returning on numerous occasions. The harvest pale is really well looked after and having drank here before this is always the case with all the beers. We're driving through the village and decided to stop at the pub for a drink. It was midweek around 5pm when we got there and the pub was quiet with a few locals in but not busy. We tend to like real ales or craft beer so were just having a look at the pumps to see if there was anything different to try, there wasn't anything that stood out. The girl behind the bar did not greet us as we went in or acknowledge us until she had finished serving the previous person which in such a small place a Hi would have made us feel welcome. When she came to us she didn't say a word so my husband asked if they had any bottled craft beers, she just said no. We ordered a Guiness and a lager and went out to the garden to drink them as didn't really feel welcome. We live in Lowdham a village only a couple of miles away and like to pop into different places for a drink or a bite to eat, but would not go back there as it definitely wasn't as friendly as surrounding pubs. The 2 points are for the look of the place and the beers.

Cracking little pub in a lovely village community. Great food and beer . The landlord and landlady go out there way to make you feel good . Does special occasions and also good dinner . This is a pub for anyone including your pets . Sky sports for a good beer and match or a nice family meal .

My family and I often dine here and take advantage of the early bird menu. Fish and chips are the most popular with us but my personal favourite is the pie with chips. Delicious. The food is great, meals are reasonably priced and the service is good. Lovely atmosphere too. No doubt we will keep returning in future.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch cooked well and plenty of it. I had roast beef with all the trimmings and an excellent sticky toffee pudding. Would recommend a visit but make sure you book to avoid disappointment.

Lovely pub serving excellent home made food. We managed to get there in time for the early evening deal otherwise it would have been rather expensive.

Eaten at this pub several times with family, had an evening meal, lunchtime special & latest meal was Sunday lunch just before Christmas. The bar/restaurant staff are always welcoming & attentive. The food choice is fairly extensive, the portions are decent & most importantly it's tasty & of good quality at reasonable prices. Everyone enjoyed their meals (12 of us) & we would all recommend & certainly be returning.

Full complement of staff for this hectically busy occasion, but we had a first-class class meal. Apart from having no Gluten free bread to offer, my Coeliac and Dairy free needs were admirably catered for. They are obviously aware of cross contamination issues. Even the limited menu could offer choices for each course , which is commendable. Under the personal supervision of mine Host and Hostess, not so much a meal as a dining experience!

Ok, so The 'Oak is our local, however it has built a fine reputation for good ales, wines and especially traditional pub lunches. This visit was a family Sunday lunch. The good thing is one doesn't order by picture as is the case at chain pubs. There's a great selection of real ales and that horrible fizzy yellow stuff if that takes your fancy or a reasonable selection of wines to suit all tastes. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. Excellent selection of food choices all at affordable prices. Ambiance is that of a good village local that along with church is centre of this thriving village community. We all enjoyed our family meal. Try it you'll be amazed. However suggest that you book in advance and be prepared to park in village car park as extremely busy at times. Overall Mark and Sarah are excellent hosts and should be proud of the business they have built. Chefs are brilliant and accommodating so best to advise on dietary requirements.

Nice place, good service and well cooked food. Watch out though, the "pie" is stewed steak poured over puff pastry with another puff pastry slice on the top. Tasty but not a proper pie in my opinion - disappointing for that reason only.

We booked for a special 70th Birthday lunch on a Saturday. As we had a 22month old toddler and 22month old baby we asked for speedy service at 12 noon. We were the only diners so obviously there was just a skeleton staff. However, a number of diners arrived on spec and it became busy. We weren't offered the Specials menu and didn't even see it till we had ordered, so the meal proved rather costly. Which would have been fine, except it took over two hours for the five adults to be served. One guest had to leave after the first course because of the delay ; the little family after the sweet and it just left the oldies to finish with a coffee. The food was very nice, but the service was disappointing.

My sisters and I only popped in for a drink and to share some chips and a plate of king prawns before completing our walk... What a treat! Well-kept ale and Exquisite food! The home-made chips were the best I've tasted in years. Thank you for a memorable pause in our reunion weekend.

On our travels around the Trent Valley and Vale of Belvoir sampling Sunday Lunch, today found us here for the first time. Immediate impression was of quiet elegance and NO canned music .Well staffed with smart, mature and knowledgeable assistants, we were directed to an oak table with two comfortable chairs and a banquette of equal comfort, especially for my friend who has back trouble. Menu's were brought and drinks orders taken. A first for me - a separate Gluten and Dairy free Menu, with appetising choices for three courses! The Roast Pork - 4 large tender slices, came with crispy crackling and crisp roast potatoes. Vegetables came in a separate bowl and were perfectly cooked. I had my own jug of red wine sauce instead of gravy! Sweets were dreamy: Eton Mess for the others to drool over and a sorbet, raspberries and crushed meringue concoction which I enjoyed. Disabled ♿ entrance is from the carpark at the rear. I didn't spot a Disabled ♿ loo but would be surprised if there wasn't one in this very well kept establishment. A return visit? Definitely!

One of our group had booked in advance for a family meal - quite reasonably for such a large group a set of options were sent out (3 for each course). Inevitably not everybody had responded with their choices but this was dealt with no problem on the night, and they put something off-menu together for one of the party who required a gluten-free vegetarian option. At each course everyone's food came out at once and we were generally very well looked after. Food was tasty and portions generous. Would definitely recommend for other large groups and would like to return to try other menu offerings!

I visited The Royal Oak early on a Saturday evening with my son and husband. We received a friendly welcome from the staff. The restaurant was busy already but we were offered a seat in the bar along with menus so we could decide what to eat before being seated in the restaurant which was great. We didn't have a starter as we were a bit tight on time having to be somewhere else later that evening, but the starters that were being served to other diners looked really good. The main meals that the three of us had were served very promptly and were a very generous portion. The meals were pub grub type of food ie fish and chips, pie and chips & steak and chips but were of an excellent quality. My steak was beautifully cooked and my sons' pie was full of meat. We also all had a desert, which again was of a generous size and delicious. The restaurant had a relaxed feel and the other diners were a mixture of ages and group sizes. It's conveniently located, about 5 mins from the A46.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food which isn't too fancy. We all enjoyed our meal and wish we didn't have to rush off so quickly. We will be going back asap, perhaps to try their Sunday lunches out.

My partner & I called in for lunch at the Royal Oak last Friday. We had never been before & knew nothing about it. I must say it could have been a bit more lively. No background music of any kind & the staff were not exactly communicative, even though they were polite & efficient, which is not the same thing. The food was absolutely excellent & well presented. Pretty good on the important stuff, but atmosphere does matter, & it hasn't got much.

We came here for an evening meal. Deep fried brie (we shared)2x fish and chipsWhite wine. Cost £30. The (homemade) chips were lovely, the mushy peas - lovely. Fish was very white and the tartare sauce - I could taste the fresh ingredients (clearly taste parsley)I know I can be harsh on prices, but, when the ingredients are fresh, the food homemade and the environment welcoming - I will pay and will say nice things. Service was not amazing (it was busy), drink selection not good for a local boozer and poor WI-FI. So, I can't give a 5, but it's a solid 4 and I would return and recommend.Thank youJames

Me and my boyfriend came here for a quiet drink and something to eat. I must say the food was absolutely beautiful! We had the fish and chips, and I'll tell you, the fish couldn't have been any fresher! Other customers appeared to be really enjoying their meals too, which also looked so good! It felt very intimate and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely be going there again to try more from their lovely menu. Good prices and worth every penny!

Called in for first time for Friday lunch as it is in the next village to us. We really liked the way the pub looked and the atmosphere for a Friday lunch time was spot on. We had a warm welcome and good service throughout our visit. The food was excellent and all three of us really enjoyed our individual dishes of cod, liver and a salmon sandwich. We all look forward to a return visit soon.
