We popped in on a bank holiday Sunday to see if the 2 of us could eat. The helpful staff managed to fit us in for our dinner! Great food, great staff, and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you all very much.

Worth the walk from Fishguard Inn. Delightful staff and delicious food. Check the chalkboard for the daily specials and you won’t go wrong. The curry mushroom soup was delicious. The warm couscous salad with roasted vegetables was also great. Highly recommend.

Stopped in for some grub while exploring, and mainly chose iy because nowhere else seemed to be open. It was an excellent choice though and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Great lunch out. A lady in the street recommended the Royal Oak to us when she realised we were searching for somewhere to go. She wasn't wrong. The food was scrummy and the service excellent. Heartily recommend and will go again.

Visited on 23/12/23 with friends while staying in Fishguard. I ordered the Glamorgan Sausages & Mash dish (suitable for vegetarians). Tasty cheese & leek sausages on a bed of mash, plus a pint of "Desperate Dai" amber ale - smooth and moreish! Very busy night, customer wise.

Always friendly, great food and beer. Allows children and dogs. Recommended.

Lovely freshly prepared food, we had the fish and chips, good sized portion and reasonably priced. Lots of history on the pub within the restaurant. Staff were friendly and welcoming too.

Good food but not a lot of gluten free choice. EDIT: been glutened and now in Saint. If you are celiac I would avoid as something in my dinner must have been cross contaminates.

Glutened: had the fish and chips, gluten free option but an now in agony. The fish was batteries so there is cross contamination somewhere along the line which implies a lack of understanding.

Discovered and recommended by two locals as I was looking for somewhere for a lunchtime meal of good quality. I had the fish chowder which consisted of cod and salmon in a large bowl of white sauce. Served with a fresh buttered baguette and a side plate of chips. I can say this was of excellent quality. They also have a good selection of draught beers in including Evan Evans Warrior and Jamima Pitchfork. However I cannot comment on the condition of these as I didn't have a drink with my meal. But from what I saw of other customers who did the drinks were readily quaffed with some degree of eagerness and certainly no complaints. A good example of Fishguard hospitality.

A very lively little pub, even on a Monday night, and a very friendly mixed crowd of all ages. I loved the historic 'long house' building, with its low beamed ceiling and stone walls...and of course the thought that major historic events had taken place there. The staff were very efficient and friendly, the food was very fresh and in generous portions, and the wine list was better than the average. Highly recommended!

Unexpectedly good pub in the centre of Fishguard, great beer and reasonable prices. Loads of room inside, and a fabulous outside terrace area with views over the lower town. Judging by the number of tables reserved, the food must be good but we weren’t hungry this time!

Great bar with super friendly locals and staff. Big shout out to Dan and Katie for taking great care of me on my recent holiday to the area. The beer garden is large with amazing views. The food here is lovely. My personal favourite is the panco coated calamari. There is also regular live music here too.

Food quality is lowe than expected from such a pricey place: Sirloin steak costs 25 pounds and was not tender. The service doesn't exist: we were sitted by the table and since no waiter showed up, I asked the lady at bar and only by that time she explained me that we need to order at the bar... Needless to say that no one asked us if food is good or if something is missing. We certainly will not come back to this place.

Nice pub. Food was ok. We were there on an open mike night for folk music, which was very nice. Staff were a bit disinterested, but overall it’s worth going to.

Hi what a gem in the heart of the town a great place for a drink and food We called in for tea and the food was excellent, presented well and all came. Hot drinks are well kept pint of Guinness and lagers. They also have a child’s menu. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. We should’ve got their names. They also have a outdoor space and in the right weather brilliant thank you all great food and also would like to thank the backroom staff in the kitchen. Thank you again

Absolutely amazing place for both food and drinks however the main highlight is the amazing bar staff who made our experience so very special! Both Danny and Pheobe served us with such lovely manner! They made us want to stay all week! The variety of drinks are spectacular and the atmosphere is astounding! I recommend anyone in the area to give this place a visit!!! Wish I could give it 10 stars!!! Thank you pheobe and Danny!!!!

Lunch at the Oak for five adults, two children cerebrating my wife and I 41st Wedding Anniversary. Wow! Service from bar staff and waiting staff was incredible.... So so friendly yet professional too. Food choice was varied between all seven of us but every dish was outstanding and very much enjoyed. Thank you. Wonderful!

Food took a bit long but we had popadoms while we waited. Toilets well looked after. Food was decent , good portion sizes.Quite pricey to say the least.

Celebrated our 25th Wedding anniversary here this week. Great food great atmosphere. What more can I say.

Four of us in the party. The meat and fish eaters enjoyed their food very much. As vegetarians two of us had the Glamorgan sausages. I asked for it with a nice big salad with lots of onions. What I received was two frozen deep fried sausages on a bed of lettuce with some onion. No tomatoes, cucumber, sweetcorn, peppers etc - nothing. This cost £15. I asked for some cucumber and tomatoes to add to the salad so a small bowl of salad came mostly lettuce again with one small baby tomato and 2 small chunks of cucumber. I gave up 😒 my friend had it with veg and had 2 broccoli florets and 4 green beans - not exactly generous. I have been coming to this pub for 30 years and this has been the most disappointing. Really poor offerings for vegetarians which is a shame - bring back the Red Devil pie!!!

Had evening meal here for my son 13th birthday whilst staying in Fishguard … food was very average. Steak was like rubber hardly edible … Son served the wrong meal .. daughters chicken was like charcoal very over cooked and my meal was awful hand one mouthful … I wouldn’t recommend total waste of money in my eyes…

We found this place as we were walking through Fishguard heading to the car after a lovely few miles walking down to the low town and harbour area. They were great good attentive staff and the food was great even though it was pretty busy. Great food and atmosphere thanks folks.

Best view in Upper Fishguard of the sea from the sizable terrace. Absolutely stunning. Folk night on Tuesday was a blast. Food smelt great but unfortunately we didn't have time to try it.

Lovely little pub with a slice of history about Fishguard. Goodfood, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.

Visited this pub a couple of times for dinner and once during the day, each time we made to feel welcome, was served promptly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Definitely worth visiting if staying up at the caravan park or visiting Fishguard any other day.

No car park found? Small pub on corner of a road. Drove around and other locals same issue. Suggest better up stop further out along route where car parking is obvious.

They were very busy early on a Saturday evening but service was still very good. Had the fish and chips, best I’ve had in a long long time. Gold star 🤩

A very standard pub with very average food but charming bar staff who have to work very hard. The website makes it look sophisticated but it’s not. Wouldn’t rush back but nor would I avoid it.

If you go expecting a slightly expensive version of Wetherspoons you won’t be disappointed. If you expecting a historic venue with restaurant quality food probably not. Nothing fundamentally wrong. Food was warm, cooked and delivered quickly by staff wearing PE kit. Little in the way of service or skills in the kitchen on the night we visited unfortunately and we left underwhelmed. Perhaps some new carpets, staff training or even providing table ordering so you could leave a tip for good service might help create something a bit more special?

Found this pub by accident on a Tuesday night. It was very busy with an excellent folk band playing. Staff were very helpful. Nice decor inside and dogs welcome. Food was excellent, vegetarian pasta was lovely, lamb burger was juicy and delicious. Fish and chips were great, crispy batter.... a side of cheese garlic bread was not needed but lovely. Real ale as well was good... price was good - £60 for 3 adults. Efficent service, friendly and polite. All good and highly recommended

Went on a Tuesday, Folk Night, what else needs to be said? Brilliant night, made very welcome.

Where do I start? Staff were young, uninterested and slow. The food was awful, tortellini was overcooked and looked like a 3yr old had cooked it. The burger was rare, the mashed potato was dry and the chips were cold, overcooked and dry. Funny that the best thing was the onion rings that were brought out first and on their own? Will never visit again.

Really incredible view, beautiful food and great service. There was live folk music the evening we went and the kids loved it, all sat in the circle while the musicians played around them. They even gave them small instruments to play. Stunning outside area and the chowder was just delicious!!

I must say, the entertainment here was superb when me and my fiancé had our celebratory engagement meal. On the table next to us, an old lady projectile vomited all over the floor just before our food arrived. Nonetheless, it is an experience we will both remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you to the lovely staff and the old lady who yacked everywhere.

This is a lovely friendly pub and the food looked amazing, The beer garden has fantastic views down to the sea. It was our favourite place to sit and relax with a lovely bottle of Chardonnay.

We had lasagne with garlic bread and salad, we had to ask for spoons as the lasagne was so runny with very little meat, the sauce appeared to be tomato soup, the meal alone cost £15.00 each, extremely disappointing, we did mention this to the person serving us, he said he would let the chef know, we heard nothing after that, we would not eat here again.

The food tasted really nice. The portion could have been bigger, but overall the combination of all seafoods together in the meal with the sauce might it delicious.

From the moment we walked in the staff were helpful and friendly. We had hot drinks which were lovely and the food was exceptional. I wouldn't normally leave a review but it was that good. Will definitely recommend.

Absolutely great venue, great food especially the Jamima Pitchfork battered fish and chips, the fish chowder and the curry. Great range of real ales.(.and kept well), several different ciders and lagers. Service was excellent, lovely place to eat,. Big beer garden, kids and dog friendly....

The scampi was doughy, soggy and fishy - probably one of the worst food experiences I’ve had. The presentation looked like something that would be on the kids menu. Served with a dry piece of lemon and watery peas. Fries were alright. My boyfriend liked his fish and chips, but the mushy peas had a crusty layer on top and looked looked like it had been heated in the microwave. Atmosphere and scenery was lovely, would definitely come back for drinks but not food.
