Couldn’t recommend enough! We were here on holiday, visited two nights in a row, it was so good! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is wonderful & honestly cannot fault. Pub is traditional with beams, and has a cosy, peaceful feel. A shout out to Josh, who looked after us both nights and to the chefs, fab grub! Thanks all, Tina & Keith

Went for mother's day lunch. Very well organised you booked a 2 hour slot. It was packed but you were treated very well by the staff, we didn't feel rushed at all. I had the roast lamb and it was a really good size portion. My son went for a mixed grill . The outside space looks lovely and I shall definitely make a point of returning in the warmer weather to take advantage of it

A nice country pub. We visited for Sunday lunch and I would say that the food was OK but not amazing. Service is prompt and friendly. I had the veggie wellington which was nice enough but the gravy with it was very salty and roast potatoes a bit tough. It was OK but wouldn’t rush to visit again.

Although the service here is great, the food doesn't seem to justify the relatively high prices. I've been twice, and on both occasions, there were problems with the dishes. On this occasion my ham was virtually tasteless, the peas were very overcooked, and my wife's pork rump, while decent, we felt it wasn't exceptional enough to warrant the cost.

We haven't been here for a few years now, probably for three or four years. We went over on a Friday evening, the food was lovely, the beer was really good and the service was lovely. My wife asked for the gamon and asked if they could not put any peas on, to which the reply was did she want anything else instead of them, this ended up being a really nice salad, its a simple thing, they didn't have to do it, but was a lovely gesture and my wife loved her gamon, eggs, chips and salad.

Lovely food with a good menu. Recommended We dropped in here on the off chance having seen the pub from the road through Beaulieu numerous times and we’re not disappointed. We had a burger and a ploughman’s… both were of a great standard and we enjoyed our meals. We sat in the garden as it was a very hot day which was also nice. We’ll try inside next time which looks like it gets busy so booking is probably advisable.

Went for drinks here, and the beer was off. Instead of apologising and offering an alternative the bar lady was quite awkward and unfriendly. She insisted that it couldn't be off because there was plenty left in the barrel! I suggested she try some which she reluctantly did, she said it tasted a little bit more 'sharp' than usual (in other words it was off)!!

Went in with 6 others, just to have a drink after a damp walk from Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard. There wasn't a table straight away, but as soon as there was one ready, we were able to sit down. Considering most pubs make more money selling food than drink these days, they were very kind. Will visit again and next time we will stop for a meal. After all, they could have easily turned us away!

Today 6.10.23 lunchtime approx 1.30pm. Had 3 Ploughman's which had only "HALF" a slice of ham, 1/4 of an apple which was slithered, cheap bake in the oven baguette which was not at all crusty, a nice chunk of granary would have surficed! 3 x butter, practically a thickish slice of cheese shaped into a wedge, chutney, cabbage slaw which was not nice, 3 extra thin slices of tomato, 2 very acidic pickled onions, chopped in half and 2 baby beetroot chopped in half oh! And a salad with daddy long legs leg for extra protein. 1 Steak and Ale pie with unchunky chips, definately not home cooked and a salad (cold veg). The cutlery which you served yourself with were in little boxes/baskets which other customers would have sorted through. All came to £75,46 this included 2 bags of pork scratchings. There was one poor chap serving at the bar while other member cleaned tables rather than help out at the bar. No one around to complain to, did try to attract young chap who was bringing food out but he was obviously rushed, no one even came to ask if all was OK. Overall experience "Absolutely diabolical and totally not worth the extortionate amount of money spent"

Great find after an afternoon in Beaulieu. This pub is a short drive to Hilltop. As you enter you are greeted with a welcome. Oak beams and white walls decorated with pictures give the pub a cosy and well cared for feel. Menu was well layed out offering a good assortment. Pizzas were hand made and a wonderful. A range of Burgers available, beef, chicken, veg and vegan. The food was well cooked, hot and plenty of it. Specials were on a board as you entered. There was a small selection of largers and cider, and a good range of ales. We sat in the beer garden which is spacious, and plenty of seating was available. This welcomes dogs in and outside in the garden. This pub is well worth a stop off if visiting the New Forest.

We opted for the Royal Oak primarily because it is local to where my mother lives and it is dog friendly. When we arrived nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My mother is in her eighties and in a wheelchair and we arrived to discover a very busy restaurant with at least another five patrons in wheelchairs or using walking frames. We had my Springer with us and it soon became apparent that there at least another half a dozen dogs in the room too, all of which made us feel very welcome. My mother ordered the freshly made Parsnip Soup, my sister ordered a pub staple of fish goujons and chips and I ordered the steak pie and mash. The Parsnip soup was delicious and my Mother enjoyed it thoroughly (a rare event these days) the fish and chips were standard and gave the kitchen little opportunity to show their skills, the steak pie was, however, a delight. The meat was well cooked and the accompanying veg was very lightly cooked, crunchy and delicious. The mash was put in the shade by the rest of the meal. My one criticism would be that the dish could have been improved if it had been served with a thick gravy. All in all. however, the meal was delicious and we would not hesitate to recommend the Royal Oak to any dog walkers or parties including elderly or less mobile members in the Beaulieu area.

A pleasant experience, in fact, with the auto jumble on at Beaulieu, I thought it would be heaving. Tables nicely spaced and well organised. The manageress (I think) went out of her way helping me set up their WiFi. They were very busy but we did not wait long. There had even been a wedding reception in the garden with a marquee. The wedding party had departed by about 7 so even better. Would return.

Waited over half an hour to order drink. Table which came in after us was served before us. Then waited hours for the food. The roast lamb however was very nice but not sure why it was served with yorkshire pudding, sausage, stuffing and no mint sauce. Menu similar but not quite the same as The Bold Forester. The sticky toffee pudding came with ordinary ice cream not New Forest ice cream. Noticed they didn't seem to have any bookings after 7.30, only walk ins after that time so was busy on arrival at 7 and then quietened down. Need more staff.

My wife and I have visited The Royal Oak a few times and loved the food and atmosphere every time. So decided to go for a meal to celebrate our second anniversary. Needless to say once again we had a lovely time. The food was top notch and service was impeccable. Out server and the landlady Victoria was above and beyond. We were made to feel like family. I cannot rate this pub highly enough. Yes maybe it is a tad expensive but where isn’t nowadays, but you certainly get what you pay for. I will be going many times again and have already booked for birthday celebrations in October. If you are in the area and looking for a quiet place for a meal and friendly service the Royal Oak is the place to go. Situated in a lovely sport between Exbury and Beaulieu, it’s right on the doorstep of an exploration into the New Forest. Or a hard earned quench after a busy day out.

Lovely spot near Exbury gardens, came for Sunday roast at 5.30, quite a lot of free tables, lovely outdoor seating options on benches and no smoking areas. Unfortunately our food took an hour to come out, which was disappointing as we came so early in the dinner service and it didn’t seem busy, servers were lovely and did apologise but when our roasts came out half the plate was cabbage and greens and the lamb was bland and the gravy very watery, the rest was nice, and I think if you ordered pub classics then you might have a better experience as the chips were good.
