Great food and service yet again one of the best have been using for years without issue.

I always order from the Royal, foods always been lovely, tonight it was cold, naan was hard, poppadoms was soft.

We ordered the Don deluxe set menu for two and were very impressed. Firstly it was nice to find somewhere we felt was really well priced, especially given the generous portion sizes. Secondly we just loved the food, every dish was full of flavour and arrived hot. This was our first time ordering from the Royal (via Deliveroo) but will definitely be back!

We have been using the royal for years, have tried all the other recommended local Indian takeaways but NONE beat the royal, exceptional service and food, the chicken is so tender and the portions are fantastic. Massive shout out to Akiv and Deesh who my mum Tricia always speaks with who are very helpful!💪🏻

In the words of Tina Turner, The Royal is Simply the best. Always arrives hot and full of flavour. The Royal is always our go to Indian and we thoroughly recommend you try them.

Ordered lamb madras , peshwari and popadoms. This is my go to treat when I’m down and need a pick me up. Generous portion always takes me a couple goes to finish it. Meat quality excellent. Flavours divine.

When our favourite Indian takeaway closed we really struggled to find a good replacement and then a few weeks ago we happened upon The Royal. Last night we had our third takeaway from them and each time the food has been superb. Every dish was flavourful and the portion sizes are generous. Very highly recommended.

Very upset to find a bone in my son;s food tonight. I rang the restaurant to give me a refund and they were rude to me. He could have choked on this and this would have been a medical emergency. The environmental health dept will have to be informed of this. We are very upset!!! Never had any problems before.. Do not order from here!!! They blame you for their mistakes!!!

Excellent. Royal Garlic mix grill, wow. Came nan, salad and all sauces without asking. Couldn't fault. Delivered in good time, not waiting hours! Will be using from now on

We ordered the cheaper of the 2, set meals for 2. We collected but they do delivery. The dishes were generously proportioned and very tasty. Which for me is important, I don’t mind paying for lots of good food.

The food is really good, the staff are really nice apart from one guy who seems pissed off to be delivering the food, makes you feel like it's your fault he's had to come out, in a rush, blunt, abrupt and rude. He makes sure not to bring the right change so you feel you need to pay more as he seems so annoyed at the inconvenience.He must be losing business for the Royal left right and centre.

Not good I order jera rice and sent me wrong one last time the lamb chops were not good too .. this time order chicken wings in starter but found chicken half cook .Don't recommend.

Best Indian takeaway in hemel by a mile top draw again

We order here a few times a month. We try varying dishes; the quality, taste and delivery time is always consistent. The delivery drivers are also very friendly. Still the best in town for decent takeaway.

We love this restaurant but sadly my choice of food (vegetable stew and greens was so salty that I could not eat the greens. Please allow customers to decide the salt content! I did mention this to our very friendly Australian waitress on returning the item. Otherwise good food.

Soup was lukewarm and just warm enough to eat but not enjoy Main course meat was fatty and potatoes very dry had to get a jug of gravy to moisten the whole thing

Once again a delicious pre-theatre supper with a very good selection of cocktails to help start the evening. The restaurant is well organised, efficient and very good. Wonderful venue with a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit to complete an evening with Mr. Shakespeare!

Spent an enjoyable Nee Years Eve pre-theatre dinner here with a table of five people. Service was fabulous, Even though it was pre theatre we didn’t feel rushed although we allowed two hours. Food was very good, 3 people pescatarian (non meat eaters, only fish) but the menu catered well for this. Would highly recommend.

Attentive staff and good food. We ate before a matinee performance in the theatre and they made sure that everything was through in good time. A very pleasant experience with a great view of the river. Good value too.

Lovely meal, well balanced courses, plenty of vegetarian options. Not sure that the pastry in the dessert was freshly made on the premises - but otherwise a really good meal.

Restaurant was full. Thus service was very slow. I am used to very quick service at the Rooftop. We noticed that food was being served to the wrong tables. We were not offered bread even though we had soup which was delicious. Main course came quickly but was not up to the usual standards and then we waited ages for dessert. Sorry but after dining here for many years will give it a miss in the future.

The welcome is always sincere and as the staff are aware that we are seeing a performance the service is always quick but you never feel rushed.

As on every previous occasion when I have dined at the Rooftop, the service, food quality and presentation, the ambience and the value for money were excellent. This restaurant is not only perfectly located for a pre-theatre meal, but it is a pleasure to dine here. The staff are aware of the performance you are attending and ensure the meal is paced accordingly.

Another excellent pre theatre meal, nice choice on the latest menu. We have booked there again three times for the plays we are going to see during next year. We know we will get excellent service, great food and it adds to the whole experience of going to the RSC at Stratford.

Used to be the best take away curry in Hemel for several years. I am a regular customer. Unfortunately the quality has gone downhill and the final straw was lamb so tough I could not even cut it and tasteless curry. Really sad to see this happen but don’t think i’ll return.

Perhaps didn't choose well - but pasta main course drowned by strong flavour & a fellow-diner found curry bland. But those who chose the salmon, chicken & beef mains were very happy. starters all v.g. Service a bit slower/more stop-start than usual.

Went to give an order..guy kept me waiting whilst he continued to take other orders..just plane rude..save yourself the agro and order elsewhere

Lovely food, very very tasty. Nice place and atmosphere. There was a wedding reception going go below and the music was very loud. Staff friendly but we did have to wait a while to be asked for our drink and food order when we arrived which I always find annoying. In the end we had to go wave someone over to take our order. A bit of a wait for our starter. We all were offered bread. A couple in our party had the soup. It would have been nice to be offered more bread. Mains all very tasty. Bill was incorrect. Drinks we hadn’t had had been added, but this was easily resolved. All in all a great evening. Probably wouldn’t come back for an evening meal but may come back for lunch.

Great service! As they requested, we told them we were there to attend a show. They took care of us immediately. We had time to go out onto the balcony to look at the Avon River and time to walk through the shop. The show ("Tartuffe") was excellent. We'd do both the theater and dinner again! Beautiful theater and beautiful setting.

Wonderful evening at Stratford with another lovely pre show meal in the rooftop restaurant. Food good, staff great and no worries about getting to the show in time. Bonus window seating this time as well. Thoroughly recommend.

The service was absolutely amazing; having advised the waiter we were attending the evening performance we skipped starters and our main course was on our table within 5 minutes. The food was very good on the whole and my only criticism is that the cheeseboard was overpriced for what you got. Despite this I Would definately go again.

My daughter and I ate before the evening performance. We have eaten there many times and always enjoyed it but this time they surpassed themselves. We were given a table which was away from the main business of the restaurant and it was very peaceful and quiet. The service was friendly, professional and swift and the food was beautifully cooked. This restaurant has gone from one of our favourite places to our very favourite place. Well done.

Food and service were excellent however we were very disappointed to be told that despite booking eight weeks previously and especially requesting, on booking, a waterfront balcony table, there were none available even though during our pre show meal tables were vacant. We travel from Norfolk to enjoy a meal and play and feel we should have been told that our requested table would not be available to us. Begs the question, what is the point of having the opportunity to make requests if they are to be ignored.

Pre theatre supper was served efficiently and unobtrusively. Enough choice on menu and all with a little innovation to add interest Very enjoyable and Cotswold gin to be recommended

We always visit when we are attending the theatre. And the Sunday lunches are superb. The food is always excellent, the staff are charming and although we have a time line, the waiters make sure we exit in time for the Play and we never never feel as though we have hurried our meal.

excellent vegan options , service and quality of food. staff are always polite, helpful and willing to chat if engaged menu good value for money never feel rushed though meal always completed in time for performance diner on next table had afternoon tea which looked impressive so will return for vegan afternoon tea as a couple, my wife is vegan and i am vegetarian but to show support I choose from vegan options though have butter on bread!

We ate at the Rooftop restaurant prior to seeing a play in the theatre. The menu is not big, but the food we had was very good indeed and the service cheerful and efficient. As part of the experience of a "theatre night" this was very enjoyable - to be repeated.

This was a pre-theatre lunch which we have every time we come to Stratford. The restaurant was very pleasant and the service was good. However, the main course was bland this time, particularly the couscous. The cappuccino was delicious.

The roof top restaurant is convenient for theatre goers. Good views of the canal area from the balcony around the restaurant. Service was patchy dropping off as the restaurant got busier. Food was ok. Chicken was a bit dry (which raised some complaint).

I booked the Rooftop at the RSC because we have been there twice before and everything was lovely. This time was the same. The menu, service and prices were all great! We highly recommend the Rooftop whether you are seeing a show or not.

Another very pleasant meal here before a performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor. Why go anywhere else in Stratford?

This was a pre-theatre evening meal. Previously, we have eaten here on several occasions and been delighted. <br />My husband&#039;s choices (soup of the day and plaice)were tasty and he was very pleased. I had tomato salad which was very cold,tasteless and watery. My main course was also disappointing and the chicken appeared slightly undercooked. My daughters the same.<br /><br />Only one choice of bread. The gin cocktail £9 and so full of ice it was over diluted.<br /><br />My daughter&#039;s second drink arrived just as we were paying and requests were being made for the audience to take their seats. This was despite repeated requests(polite) from the starter to have a second.<br /><br />Service was immediate for starters. Slow for seconds and non existent for third course which meant none of us were able to have dessert or coffee.<br /><br />We used to consider this restaurant as an integral part of our trips to the RSC but no more.

One disappointment for us was that we could not have a table by a window-we were told that these go to the people who booked early( we booked in APRIL!) . Do we need to specify this when booking in future?

As always .. an outstanding pre theatre meal .... good value for such lovely food. As in most places the wine is pricey but the food was great.

Soooo sloooowwwww. Allowed an hour and a half for pre-theatre and we couldn’t even get to coffee on a 2-course menu. Food was very average, with the dessert a dressed-up tray bake, and we had to rush that. We must have had 5 staff attend the table, so no continuity of service. We felt forgotten about. Didn’t pay the discretionary service charge, obviously, and will never go back. Just not good enough
