Went to the rose an crown for Sunday dinner! Excellent food an service. A real treat 😋 friendly an helpful staff,well worth a visit!

We used to like coming here, until some friends of ours were charged for tap water as part of their Sunday lunch. The Landlady, by all accounts, was adamant that the water should be paid for. We won’t be visiting again. Shame.

Went for Sunday lunch,wonderful food,very friendly staff.Nothing was to much trouble. Made to feel very welcome. Definitely worth a visit.

Mean servings of a simple straightforward meal. We queried the size of the meal when it was presented to us, especially the chips. Broken little bits which would sit in the palm of my hand. The waitress took our complaint to the kitchen and came back saying this was the correct size portion of chips and the reason for being so small was that scampi was expensive to buy!! May we suggest you increase your prices? Went away hungry….

I went to this pub for a Sunday lunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this pub for Sunday lunches.

Family visit, from beginning to end just awful. Table not set for correct people booked and had to squeeze into an already overly packed room, re set for the missing people was never corrected. After waiting 20 mins requested menus, after waiting another 20 mins requested order to be taken. 30 mins later, 2 starters arrived. 1 hour and 15 mins later no dinner arrived, hungry and tired of such a long wait, we all had arrangements post dinner we had to leave and just asked to pay for what we had. Bill came with alcohol on, which non of us had had (as paid individually at the bar) no apology, no let’s make this up to you, nothing.. truly gutted as booked this a month in advance for a special occasion and lack of care, detail and experience was very evident for a new ownership that clearly wanted to pack as many punters in for multiple settings rather than quality over quantity.

First time visiting this beautiful country pub for Sunday lunch. Beautiful roast chicken dinner and the most amazing Easter pudding. Staff friendly and great choice of Gins and Wines. Defo recommend a visit to this little gem.

I went today with my family for Easter and what a gem this village pub is, warm & welcoming atmosphere, the Sunday lunch was gorgeous & the dessert was to die for! Friendly staff and I will definitely make this a regular for our family outings Highly recommended

Came for a meal easter Sunday, had a lovley meal with 12 of us, food was excellent when asked for a fussy child they where more than happy to help, had beef was really tender 😋 Bar staff friendly and helpful, serving staff was excellent and helped the children with the egg hunt Will defo be back again!! beer garden awesome

Was in the area for a visit and booked for Easter Sunday lunch. Food was excellent and staff couldn’t go out of the way enough to help us. Came back later for drinks and desert and the chef opened up the kitchen especially for us. Amazing place and will visit again

We booked a table at the Rose and Crown after a recommendation from friends, it's in a nearby village to where we live, so we thought we would call by. This is a proper country pub, atmospheric with a warm welcome and open fireplaces. We both really enjoyed our food selections (the double burger is amazing). The staff were friendly and welcoming - in January they were offering a 20% discount as a thank you to all the regulars who had supported the pub. We thought that was a great idea. There is a great outdoor area at the back of the pub - it looked very smart as we walked by from the car park. Well done!

Amazing pub with authentic Italian food. Antipasto, pasta, fish, steak and much more. Also they do the most awesome Sunday lunch with really generous portion size. Sad it is closed for 4 weeks in lockdown 2.0, but I’m counting down the days until it reopens.

Thought we would try the Rose and Crown again as it had new management. Wasnt disappointed . I had the pork and my partner the lamb and both meals were excellent.. The service was very good throughout and friendly and we felt " safe" in the environment. Will certainly return to try the Italian themed evening menu.

Really excellent food with such a wonderful cozy and friendly atmosphere. We think Steak Master 43 must have been at another restaurant...... He must be very confused !As a village pub Silvio is doing all the right things. He makes you feel so welcome and Dario the chef is really at the top of his game. We are so lucky to have this restaurant in our area.

The food, invitation and overall atmosphere of this meal was an absoloute disgrace. Would get a better treatment and dinner spending the night in a cell

Went today for a Sunday roast (again) and again another fantastic experience. Excellent service with an Italian touch provided by Silvio ,fantastic atmosphere and the last but not list very good food.I definitely Recommend and can’t wait to go back again.

We visited Friday night. Great friendly atmosphere. All the Covid precautions observed. The place is as clean as a whistle. Customers enjoying themselves both eating and drinking. It feels like a really good country pub/restaurant. Highly recommended.

First time visit since lockdown and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The meal was great, seafood linguini was varied and just the right amount of chilli and sea bass and mussels were cooked really well. Service was attentive (thanks Paul) and friendly

We went to the Rose for Sunday lunch and were really impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. Starter of chicken was tender & well flavoured. We had lamb for our main courses which was really moist & pink, served with a good helping of veg cooked al dente. Yorkshire puds were well risen and potato mash was smooth and well seasoned. And really GOOD gravy!! Both Paul & Silvio were attentive and ensured that everyone was well looked after.

My friend and I decided as we have not been out together since lock down we would go to the Rose and Crown in Hose Melton mowbray, what can I say it.was wonderful the staff were very attentive, the manager Silvio was amazing you could see he definitely new what he was doing and made you feel very important I would highly recommend you visit this place The head chef is from Italy and it is obvious with the quality of the food he is very passionate about what he cook's everything is freshly prepared and fresh nothing frozen.A DEFINITE MUST TO VISIT.

Our first visit since it changed hands. Sunday Roast was delicious and portion was huge. All staff were very pleasant, helpful and attentive. Would definitely go back again for an 'Italian Meal'.

It’s honestly so refreshing to come across such a wonderfully run pub, with the most satisfying Italian food I’ve had for a long time. I think it’s easy for Italian restaurants to dish out mediocre food, not the Rose and Crown in Hose though! This place just hits another level of service and quality of food. The owner is obviously passionate about serving guests food they love and enjoy, and actually have an experience dining there. All the food was outstanding, but the panna cotta.. words can’t describe. When it takes you half an hour to finish it, you know it’s down to savouring every bite. It’s worth noting that this place is also very accommodating to campervan and motor-homers. Beats paying £30 to stay at a campsite when you could be eating some delicious Italian food?!

Took my Father in law out for his first meal out since lockdown. Very Prompt service, good atmosphere. Its still a village pub but serving lovely Italian style food. We all enjoyed the meal. Paul and the team made us feel welcome and stopped to chat, which I thought was nice. We would recommend and would definitely go back with the rest of the family.

Stayed for the night great place to stay made very welcome. Food was so good we stayed for Sunday lunch as well . Can only say we will be back as enjoyed it so much thanks to everyone there just brilliant.

Fabulous food cooked to perfection, beautifully presented in a lovely setting. Silvio and his team have successfully turned this pub in to a very welcoming venue with great food cooked by the new Italian chef, Dario.Understandably perhaps, the emphasis is on Italian style cuisine with fresh ingredients simply cooked with bold flavours. My wife and I went to the Rose and Crown on a weekend break in Melton Mowbray.Wow!! We were so pleased we did.I had the braised beef wrapped in bacon and my wife had the swordfish steak, both were faultless. Accompanied by an excellent bottle of rioja at brilliant value the meal was unforgettable.The excellent service provided by Silvio (head honcho), Paul (head waiter?) and the girls just added to the evening.We are definitely returning when we go back to the area.

Absolutely delightful proper countryside village pub, with a twist of Italian style!) Fabulous food that I would recommend all day long, and away from traffic at the back of a quiet little tranquil village.

Silvio is a fantastic host and has made great changes to the menu and atmosphere at the rose and crown. We have just had a wonderful dinner of mussels, fillet steak, pasta and tiramisu and everything was next level tasty. We would highly recommend you visit and experience it for yourselves. It is so nice to see the rose and crown reach it’s true potential.

Me and my partner called in on the off chance of a table being available and there was. Had Minestrone soup and Lasagne and it was one of the best Italian meals we've had in a very very long time. Great service, friendly staff. Highly recommend, well worth a visit.

Visited here on a Sunday where the menu is mainly Carvery. I am not a big lover of roast dinners but Silvio our waiter asked what I would like and was happy to whip something up for me. I had a delicious chicken pasta dish instead everyone else had Carvery. Food was delicious, everyone’s plates were empty. Great food and great service would definitely return

Those were the words of our 7-year old daughter having just shared her panna cotta with the rest of the family.Under new management, and with a new chef, the Sunday roast was outstanding. The vegetables in particular were of superb quality and cooked to perfection.Highly recommended

I cant recommend this place enough. The service was immaculate, speedy and friendly. Silvio and his staff were incredibly attentive and always happy to help and made us feel really special the whole time we were there. I had the beautiful seafood linguini, and as an Italian, I can confidently say that it is almost as good as my own dads cooking... I really think Silvio knows exactly what he's doing, and he has found his perfect market in a small village opening up an Italian pub in the vale of Belvoir with fabulous service and even better food. Amazing roast dinner! Tasty chicken with a great Yorkshire Pudding and proper roasted potatoes. Really perfect rhubarb creme brûlée with shortbread. Definitely going back.

Welcome and service spot on. Had a superb pasta and king prawn dish. Looking forward to more of the Italian influence from Silvio and his team. Nice menu with a mix of Italian dishes and traditional pub grub, something for everyone.

Stopover in our motorhome. Easy access and plenty of space to park the motorhome Very friendly welcome by the owner Silvio. Went to the restaurant for a meal in the evening. Very friendly efficient staff and meal was delicious. We both had the dish of the day which was King Prawn pancetta and ratatouille penne pasta. We would definitely visit here again.

Fantastic Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Really good pudding. We both had the beef which was cooked perfectly. I had the rice pudding with apricot and raspberry, my wife had the creme brulee

Silvio, Paul and Vicki gave us a very warm welcome, witty banter and good food.We stayed in the motorhome (30ft) the parking and access was easy and we were made very welcome. The car park is sloping though not enough to be of concern. Some pleasant walks surround the pub and the natives are friendly. Our dogs were welcome in the bar and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere almost as much as we did. We will be back.

Fabulous Sunday lunch! My first visit to this village pub and it won’t be the last. The pub is a lovely building with beautiful rustic decor, the staff lovely and welcoming, giving us a most comfortable table in the afternoon heat..thank you. Drinks great choice, menu very inviting. All the food we chose was perfectly presented and of very high quality, Cooked in the way we very much appreciated including the meat being very tender and moist, crackling amazing, roasts to perfection, veg fresh and crunchy, Yorkshire and gravy clearly homemade and amazing! We received a really warm welcome when we arrived the staff on duty doing a great job looking after our needs.Great food good range of beers and lager on tap the usual wine varieties available . We stopped while travelling in the area great for walking foot path from the car park I phoned ahead to make sure we ok to overnight .I can say the belly pork was spot on sea bass special for my wife cheese and warm chocolate brownie to finish FABULOUS. Had such a lovely Sunday lunch here. Beautifully cooked beef and chicken, fresh crunchy vegetables, delicious gravy, proper home made yorkies and gravy. None of that crap ready prepped stuff, all cooked from scratch. Can't recommend it highly enough. Plus amazing staff happy to accommodate requests x

Wanted to try somewhere new for Sunday Lunch - and what a find! In a small village in Melton...a beautiful quaint country village pub/restaurant. From the warm welcome we received to the absolutely delicious homemade Sunday Roast. Food was delicious- we had mushroom starter, Lamb mains and chocolate brownie - couldn’t fault any - really tasty, beautifully presented homemade food - and the staff and owner were attentive without being overbearing! We will definitely be back! Can’t wait to try midweek menu too! Well done to all during these hard times! See you all again soon!

This is our first meal out since March, so we were understandably anxious about SD measures, but this was all in place.We phoned ahead and asked if we could park our motorhome overnight (Search for Sites for more info) and they were more than happy to accommodate us.Large car park with an outdoor seating area.One way system through the pub which worked well.A good menu with a variety of choices that veered away from traditional pub menus, although of course there's steaks and burgers as you'd expect!We had tuna steak with a nicoise salad and pork belly on braised puy lentils. We had a side order of chips too. To follow we shared a cheese board.All the food was cooked beautifully with attention to detail. The staff were all knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. They were also attentive and friendly.You know when you go home (or down the car park to our motorhome!) and sit and wish you could eat it all again? That!This will be a great stopover that we'll return to when we're travelling.Thank you for a lovely evening

Despite the difficult circumstances due to Covid, the Rose was a lovely place to enjoy a delicious meal! Lots of choice on the menu, all absolutely fantastic. Can’t fault the new management and atmosphere - 10/10 - would highly recommend!

Popped in for a drink as the weather was so nice, sat in the sun on the decking, the beer was great as was Silvio the manager. Although we didn't eat the sunday lunches looked and smelled amazing, we will be having a sunday lunch soon

Our first visit for food since lockdown, we were made very welcome by the new Bar Manager Silvio. Lots of effort gone in keeping customers and staff safe, felt very comfortable. I had Cod with Chorizo potato cake and spinach cream which was well presented and delicious. My partner had Roast lamb which was also tasty. This time it won't be so long till we return. Thanks for making our first meal out such fun.

Wanted to try this place for food for a while as we had been there a couple of times for drinks and loved the atmosphere and staff. Wasn't dissappointed, the food was fabulous , plenty of choice, lamb was superb and good portions of veg, mash etcService was quick and efficient and we had a lovely lunch . Fantastic Sunday lunch. A great piece of beef (perfectly cooked) with all the trimmings and excellent gravy. The service was brilliant. Highly recommended! Sam, the chef, and his team clearly do an amazing job. I've heard the Fish and Chips on Friday is pretty good too.

First time for Sunday lunch, 5 adults & child in high chair. Waiter was excellent when asked about child dinner gave us plenty of options even suggested just having a plate to feed of others with the child being so young. We all had roast beef with great choice of vegetables. Plenty of room even though it was busy. Definitely will be returning.

We eat at The Rose regularly and the food and service are always exceptional. Today we tried Sunday lunch for the first time and it will certainly not be the last..! Great home cooked food by the fabulous chef, Sam who went above and beyond making special gluten free options for my tricky husband! And delightful service by the lovely Paul and Vicky! Thank you!!!

Loved it - never been before and picked it on a bit of a whim but really exceeded my expectations. Great food and lovely service so can not fault it. Despite being a bit of distance for us I would definitely return and highly recommend.

Visited this lovely village pub today for Sunday lunch, everything you could ask for in a Sunday lunch, roast and mash potatoes, cauliflower cheese and tasty gravy, good portions and well presented , delicious homemade treacle sponge for dessert. Our only complaint is that my husband had the cheese board for dessert which sadly lacked in Stilton cheese, which is surely a must for any cheeseboard in the Vale of Belvoir. Apart from that no complaints , very efficient, friendly staff, we will definitely be returning .

The Rose and Crown has all we needed for a good Sunday lunch: To begin - the lay out is good - convivial but not too crowded. The range of drinks, beer and wine are spot on. We tried a bottle of the rioja which was good value. The food is great - as well as traditional roasts the fish course was well cooked and beautifully presented . Most of all - the staff are great, a young service focused team who are well coordinated. this place is well worth a visit.

Just visited as this is a “Brit stop” so you can stay in your camper free . Came in for dinner & oh boy what a treat ! We eat out a lot and I can honestly say this is one of the best meals we’ve ever had Highly highly recommend Thanks guys

Called in for lunch, very friendly staff and pub was busy but we where seated quickly and attentively.Food was very good and moderately priced the quatities bein ample.We all agreed thet a gravy pot would be better as the food was somewhat soaked in gravy.One other minor point was the staff when serving need to come around the back of the customer and serve from the left.Three times during our meal I had an ar coming across me to reach/serve my wifes lunch, a tie came very close to being dipped in my lunch, please note!

We visited the Rose and Crown for Sunday Lunch today. The front of house staff were extremely helpful and attentiveven especially the head waiter Paul. It was really busy but nothing was toUchida trouble for them. My husband had whitebait and roast beef and I had crispy duck pancakes and lamb for the two courses it was £17.00 each and the drinks were very reasonable priced. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future and hopefully we will have room to try the delicious puddings.

First time at the Rose and Crown, had a warm welcome as we had not booked 😀 had a starter and main course, everything was tasty and hot. Reasonably price and a good selection of wines.

We visited as a family with a fussy 10 year old and equally fussy 80 year old. The welcome was friendly and prompt. Our waiter was completely relaxed about our various requests of "can I have "x" but with no cauliflower/gravy/etc etc and the orders were delivered piping hot and all as ordered. A couple of us chose the vegetarian Wellington option (we're not vegetarians) as it sounded absolutely delicious, and so it was. Everyone else had other Sunday roast options and really enjoyed them. There's no specific children's menu but a smaller version of the main meal.The atmosphere was relaxed and happy and we had a lovely time. We'll definitely be back.

I went there for Sunday lunch with my elderly mother, daughter and her family and the pub has a real good vibe. The size of the roast dinner was huge and so much so I couldn't even manage a pudding!. Great service as always, thank you Paul.

My boyfriend and I dropped in on the offchance of an available table and even though they were really busy they squeezed us in. So glad they did the food was amazing! We had the lamb sunday lunch and were really impressed with the fresh veg and home made yorkies! The staff are brilliant, very attentive and friendly and the pub is really cosy. Would highly recommend :)

Excellent lunch on Saturday at the pub, very friendly place, a smile from the helpful barmaid as I asked about where we should sit with the dog, anywhere you like she said! Best Sunday roast in the area. I'm not even that much of a fan of a Sunday lunch but this one is so special- mouth watering and memorable. Portions are huge and probably too much for a lot of people but on request children's and smaller adult portions are available. meat cooked so beautifully it's hard to choose which to have. I have returned several times with my 5 and 8 year old and the staff are so attentive and kind, the manager is obviously incredibly hard working and proud of the pub's success as well he should be. lovely relaxed atmosphere, I always look forward to returning and hope one day to sample week day menu.

The best fish and chips we've had in years! And excellent Black Sheep beer. This is a superb pub with very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We visited in early January for dinner. 3 of us had the fish and chips, and 1 had the steak. Very impressed, and will return whenever we are back in the area. The pub is tucked away in the village, with good parking, a beer garden and a nice restaurant area as well as the bar. Fully recommend.

Amazing service and was very fast, especially for 18 people on New Year’s Eve. The staff were very friendly and we all had some laughs with them. The restaurants presentation was welcoming and was well decorated and up to date. Now on to the food, it was amazing. Like no other meal I have had. Amazing presentation and taste! Would defiantly recommend visiting this place!

We go to The Rose & Crown quite regularly with friends. It is always buzzy, has a great atmosphere, very friendly. The food is amazing and has a great friendly professional service. Great value for money. The best local in our book.

This was our sixth visit today and fourth for Sunday Lunch. The pub is very welcoming with a good choice of real ales and specialist spirits. Sunday lunch is excellent value and beautifully cooked. There is always a good vegetarian option and a choice of at least 3 meats. Paul the restaurant manager is a credit to the pub wit( his unique friendly manner. Will definitely be returning

The best welcome I have received in any restaurant by Paul. Extremely attentive throughout exceptional welcome with genuine commitment to serve by all staff. Food equally good we had Sunday roast with all the trimmings our food was excellent. Good layout and facilities, despite being busy service excellent. This was our second visit here, despite living so far away, but first Sunday lunch which we would highly recommend. A great country pub tucked away at the back of the village.
