The Rose and Olive Branch in Runnymede

I visited there with my daughter and her friend and we had one of the best pub lunches I've ever had. I had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely filled to the brim with beautiful steak and had the best mash ever on the side. The service was superb. I'm already looking forward to our next visit

Lovely relaxed lunch, food was excellent (the home made pies were glorious) and the service was friendly and attentive. Is dog friendly but can be a bit tight round the bar so perhaps book ahead if popping in after a walk. We were told that they will be screening films in the pub garden over the summer - something to come back for!

We all had a really lovely lunchtime get-together at this little Gem on Callow Hill, near Royal Holloway. We were welcomed by the owners , and chose a nice table near the fire place. The food was delicious, and so was the Procecco, missed the Christmas menu by a day...May have to go back. A traditional Cosy pub, which we all would recommend.

A fabulous stroke of luck we landed here last night for dinner with friends as we plumped for a venue 'halfway'. The food was amazing; we had the delicious tomato soup & whitebait to start followed by the fabulous pork belly, chicken in a Pretzel bun & the seafood paella. All spot on, very tasty & lovely presentation. Finished off with the chocolate fondant oozing chocolate sauce & drizzled dolce latte - absolutely delicious!! (No photos as we all tucked straight in!) It is a small select menu but less is more for sure. We had a very warm welcome from Niki & the staff. Dogs are also welcome. Great that this little gem is up & running again & look forward to a Sunday roast one day soon!!

Under new management, a few opening hiccups, but finally the Rose and Olive is up and running and back to its best. As close neighbours for the past 30 years, this is important for us and we visited for our first tonight to sample the evening menu. We were not disappointed. Pies are back on the menu as was a delicious sirloin steak, followed by scrumptious Eton Mess. Fish lovers would also be very happy with the choice offered. The service was excellent and with a friendly smile and as long standing customers who have been disappointed in recent years, it was such a relief to know that once again, we have a local venue which we can frequent every time we wish to eat out. Highly recommended.

First time back for food after the pub was shut for over 6 months after a fire. Now under new management, a lovely welcoming new team were very friendly and happy to have our dog too. They are serving the same Windsor & Eton brewery ales and have a wonderful new menu. Had the king prawn and moonfish curry which was lovely, and cheese and biscuits after. So happy to see them open again.

Dinner at the Rose & Olive Branch. The pub is well run under Niki, serving staff were young & enthusiastic. The menu is still fairly small, with a balanced set of options and as everything is freshly prepared, dietary requirements can be met if outside of the published list. The fish options are driven by availability and may change regularly. The quality & presentation of the food was excellent and a big step up from all other pubs in the area. Prices whilst on the high side for a pub are fair, given the quality. John & Niki are open to feedback to develop the food offering further. Prices do not include service. We had a most enjoyable evening, with good food, service & ambience, the Rose & Olive Branch is a most welcome new venue to the area.

Visited our local pub the day after they opened for Sunday lunch. The lunch was fabulous. I had the roast beef and my husband enjoyed the cod with risotto. Great attentive staff. So glad the pub has reopened again. We will definitely return.

stumbled on this place through TripAdvisor as it was equidistant from a group of friends meeting up and how glad am I that I did. on arrival I was greeting by a very friendly member of staff who showed me all the tables that were available. the place itself it quite intimate but very nicely decorated, having been extensively refurbished by the current owners. the service all night was first class and I felt treated like a regular, despite it being my first visit. the food and drinks were superb and very filling, I didnt even have room for a pud, which was a shame as they sounded very good!! I would highly recommend this pub, but not too much as I'd like to book again and dont want it to be full!! Needless to say, we intend to come back in the neat future, especially to try the puds next time!

We walked from Egham, a 30 minute walk followed by a pint for us and ice cream for the kids. Brilliant 2 hours with the family thanks to Pedro and the team. Thoroughly recommend. We've eaten here too. During covid the garden is perfect; fresh air, feels safe, lovely food. Brilliant.

Visited on late Sunday LunchEverything was amazing. Pedro and his team makes us feel special. Menu was exactly described. Two of us had Fish and Chips and special combo of soup and steak sandwich. Our daughter enjoyed a burger like never before (great credit to all staff - probably now I will have to take her there very often). What a fantastic pub! The best roast dinner I have ever had - delicious and amazing roast potatoes! I really enjoyed the delicious pale ale that this independent brewery have made, and the service was great too. Am planning to go back already and would highly recommend it! The rose and olive is a wonderful place with fresh food and a great variety of options that are healthy and fresh I particularly like the vegan burger and the rosemary chips are something amazing , would definitely love to return again !!!!

My partner and I were looking for a cosy country pub and on our travels we came across the rose and olive branch, what a delight this lovely friendly pub offered 1st class selection of beer I wasn't sure which one I would like so the barman let me try a sample of each to which I chose the creamy white riot which went down very well,my partner had the republica which he thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were very attentive to our requests and gave great customer service. The garden was very pleasant will be back for food. Cant wait.

The rose and olive is a great addition to Virginia water and since it was under new ownership the pub has been thriving , the food is amazing and there are options for everyone and I mean everyone , the staff and wonderful and accommodating to our needs and have dealt with the new pub rules well and making sure everyone is safe during this time of covid -19 . Great space and good place for all the family to come together . Can’t wait to see what the pub does in the future !! :)

Came here on recommendation of a local ! Was not disapointed. Really good locally brewed beers and a menu that the kids even liked. It might be simple but very clean and neat and most importantly the staff was very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, WORTH A VISIT!

The garden was uncared for and neglected, as was the food. Chips were not what we’d expect from home cooking in a pub. Mushy peas were dry and looked like they’d been grilled. Fish was overcooked and rubbery with dark brown greasy batter. Pie was very dry too. The menu consisted of 3 types of burger, fish and chips and pie. If owners want to make a success of this pub, the quality has got to be a lot higher. It was bad value and we probably won’t return. On the plus side the beer was good.

Just had an amazing makeover, and now looks fresh and alive from once was a dingy old pub.The staff are friendly and very helpful, good selection of food available as is the range of beers etc.it has a large car park and outside seating for the summer months to come, all in all very impressive and look forward to returning.

Very tasty well presented food. The steak was fresh and well cooked. An added bonus on the menu is that the food is matched with the Windsor and Eton Brewery's beers. We have been keeping an eye on the refurbishment as we are locals and used to frequent the Rose and Olive before it was closed. We came yesterday to see what has changed and what a surprise! It's now light, airy and clean! Very stylish but still keeps that pub charm. Its somewhere we feel welcomed and could spend a lot of time here. We LOVE the fact that we can now drink windsor and eton local beers and that I can pop in for a decent coffee with friends. The staff seem so wonderful and chatted to us about their vision for the pub. They plan to have a pub quiz and dog walks as well as afternoon tea! How wonderful! The food menu looks fabulous and they still have some pies on. We are relieved this pub is still a pub, and will be regulars here. We wish Pedro and his team the best, they will make this place somewhere special. See you soon for a pint!

Windsor & Eton Brewery have done an amazing job with the Rose & Olive Branch. Pedro and the team have done a fresh refurbishment, Head Chef Natalie has developed a brand new exciting menu and not to mention they’ve put great beer in the lines. Extremely friendly staff and can’t wait to return.

We had dinner there last night with friends, we were pleasantly surprised as I had bad memories of my last visit a few years back of my last visit to the Wheatsheaf. What a difference now, pleasant staff, extensive menu, well cooked tasty food, good attentive service, background music that did not drown any conversation we were enjoying. A lovely evening thank you, we will be back.

This lovely old local pub serving good pub food was bought recently for £600,000 and the new owner immediately sacked all the old staff and closed it. Why would anyone pay that amount for an asset then destroy that asset? Obviously has other ideas for the site. Great loss to the local community as it was always busy serving locals as a go to food destination.

Found this little gem not so long ago. We had a lovely Sunday lunch this afternoon which was great value for money. They are dog friendly, so will definitely be going back next week with out dog.

Great pub for well kept ales and an excellent range of pub food. Great for veggies, vegans and pie eaters alike. Adequate garden for dog owners in the summer. Have eaten here many times and never had a bad meal.Sadly the owner has decided on a well deserved retirement and the business has been acquired by a local brewery who have decided to discard the excellent staff who work there. I can never understand why having gone to a lot of effort and expense to make an acquisition, the first thing new owners set out to do is to destroy the value of their new asset. Oh well - let's see what they do with this gem. I am not hopeful.

When we entered the pub we were welcomed by a very bizarre, and unpleasant smell.Not sure what it was.The decor was very authentic to the pub aesthetic quite lovely, and their garden was very cute. The barmaid was very polite and accommodating. The selection of vegetarian options was decent for a pub in a remote location.The taste was not terrible, but a tad odd. My friends were very happy with their non vegetarian dishes though.Their prices are average for a pub that's not a chain I'd say.If my veggie burger was better, and the person who served had covered their surgery wound I'd give 4 stars.I generally think it's ok though, if you're in the area.
