Nice pub just out of St Alban train station. Full of local people as it’s their fav pub even CAMRA pub of the year. Cool collection of cask n ales. Plenty of seatings on floor as well as in lovely beer garden. Service is good. Staff was attentive. Nice location and nice atmosphere like local pub for local people. Good to wait for ur train here with a pint rather than at platform 😝

Nice enough pub with friendly staff and a welcoming crowd. There’s plenty of seating throughout with the whole place being spacious. With both the range of drinks and prices I had no complaints during my visit! A decent option in the town.

Dropped in looking for old-style beer and got what I wanted. Only 3 draught beers, which is plenty to keep them fresh and pouring nicely. (too much variety means old stock to me) Friendly chat with the locals and fortunately the trains run well past closing time

Not that the impeccable bar staff at this fine establishment aren't top rate normally but today they had a new fella behind the bar, his knowledge of pouring fosters was something to behold, only his kind and welcoming persona distracted me from his sun kissed skin, sultry eyes and winning smile. If he's a freelancer then the hood better hope another public house doesn't snap him up.

As soon as you cross the entrance this screams “proper pub” and it delivers on that promise. Everything a drinking pub should be. Great Harvey’s Best Bitter served by people who clearly care for this pub. Highly recommended. Only a short walk from the City Station.

This pub is an under appreciated gem, the quality of the real ales was astounding, I would have been content with just the beers however I was introduced to a fantastic array of real ciders by possibly the friendliest barman I have ever experienced His kind knowledge and gentle encouragement made me feel confident and powerful, I have suffered from aspergers all my life but within the confines of the Robin Hood with frankie I felt a sense of confidence that I have only just learned to appreciate. This establishment has Ichanged my life and I would strongly recommend visiting.

Ok , my wife and I have lived in St Albans for 17 years. We love pubs , end of. The Cock, The Peacock , The Vic were our locals along the way.I used to visit The Hood on a Monday at 4pm as The Vic did not open until 5pm on that day. I drank a pint of Guinness. I love Guinness but I could tell I was drinking a different beast here to Guinness anywhere else. When the Vic closed a good number of us made The Hood our local.I was right the Guinness was perfection. Over time I have loved this pub as my local. During lockdowns I have popped in for my 2pints of real ales. Reliving my past really but really understanding the quality of the real ales served here. That is what the pub is about. The best people I know in this City drink here regularly. Perhaps a step above that are the staff. Roy, Zoe,Kat, Tom and Missus assist Jim Pratt making a superb pub that in St Albans with all it’s wonderfull boozers, none can compare.

I have drank in many great boozers up and down the country. Whether watching Torquay United, or working away from home, I have frequented many a good pub. There have been a few terrible ones too, but not this one, This one is a great pub. From entering the pub we were made to feel so welcome, and were treated like regulars from the landlord/lady and the fantastic bar staff. The locals to, treated us like we were from St Albans and were frequent users of the pub. Being football fans, many a pub will use us for our money, but they don't really want us there. Not the Robin Hood though, they were brilliant. If I am ever in St Albans again, I will certainly make this my first port of call on arrival. Certainly in the top 3 of pubs I have visited away from home. The Littleton in Cannock and the Rat and Parrot in Chiswick being the other two. Those two were local pubs for me too, because I was working up that way for long periods of time. So for the Robin Hood to be held up to those levels, shows how good it is.

Far and away one of the best pubs in the area. Fantastic Selection of Ales on rotation with Sussex Best a mainstay. Jukebox, Dartboard and bar skittles make the pub standout from others in the town. Fantastic Garden for Spring/Summer time as well. Highly recommended.

This nice little boozer is a short walking distance from the railway station and is a great starting point for a evening out. We were in it very recently as it had been a while. Service was a little slow as the place was beginning to get busy. I enjoy older proper pubs like these and what is also a positive point is the excellent Indian restaurant directly opposite. A nice place to have a few pints. Visited 15th August 2019.

We tried to order 3 pints of kronenburg which was hilarious. The barman that looks like victor meldrew tried 3 times to poor the beer before realising it was off so we had 3 glasses in front of us with 4 inches of head in each glass, we then opted for another beer and offered to pay a reduced amount for the other 3 drinks which was now in one glass only to be told someone else has bought it???Made our way to the garden, had one sip and the barman called time at the bar please.Rushed our drinks, used their weird toilets and left expecting a camera crew to pop out and say it was all set up for a joke. Thanks for the laugh but won’t be returning.

Myself and two mates who have known each other for over 50 yrs meet here every 3_4 weeks. I live in Luton the other two in the Harrow area . We use the train as this is about equal distance to travel. Right from the start Roy the barman made us feel welcome. We are all in our 70s now but feel really at home here with quiet background music from the juke box. We have toasted sandwiches a few beers and a good moan about life.We used to go to the Victoria just down the road but the Robin Hood is much more comfortable. Fully recommended for a relaxing pint....cheers Roy

Another of those increasingly rare beasts, a “proper pub”. Arrived at 7.00pm on a Saturday evening and it was already busy. Good choice of beer on tap, friendly bar staff and a good buzzing atmosphere. There was even the old game of bar skittles at one end of the bar. Not a bad place to stop for a drink and very close to St Albans City Station and only about a 7 minute walk to the city centre.

I popped in here one evening last week to discover that there had been a change of ownership. The first positive sign was the introduction of three great real ales on the counter - Tring's Side Pocket For A Toad, Sambrook's Wandle Ale and Gale's HSB (brewed by Fuller's). The Side Pocket was in tip-top condition so I had a few of those. The furniture is a mix and match of traditional, contemporary and functional to give the pub an interesting and comfortable feel. The pub still looks a bit tired but I'm sure that will be resolved in due course; and more importantly the whole pub is clean, including the toilets. In addition, there is eclectic mix of ornaments and accessories to keep any treasure hunt aficionado occupied. Score points if you can find the Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials box set, the Beryl Cook calendar, the book on Lizards, a double decker bus and two Hurricanes flying out of Middle Wallop. Not all of these are actual size...

As Craig from Strictly Come Dancing would say:::: AMAAAAZING DOLL AMAAAZING.I could not say enough about this Pub. We had just come upon it by chance on our way back from hospital and decided to do a U TURN and try it out.We were shown a table straight away and ordered. I had the Calves Liver and vegetables with mash and hubby had the fish and chips. Both were delicious but must say I could have done with a bit more liver as felt the portion was a bit mean priced at £12.95 but it is fine dining pub so I suppose that explains it. had the mini dessert and coffee afterwards priced at £4.95. We paid approx. £20 a head but this did not put us off saying we would never return just we would go back for special occasions with the guarantee of a good meal. Place was packed.

The Robin Hood is well established, traditional pub serving real ale. We found the place friendly, the beer good and plenty of seating available. However, even on a Friday evening, the place was not very busy. The only down side was the flooded men’s toilets (hence only a good rating). No food is served in the evening (unless it’s a special occasion). The pub is close St Albans city station and only a short walk out of the city centre. There is a piano, dart board, juke box (wall mounted); games and newspapers available.
