This was an occasion supposed to be to celebrate mothers birthday which was March as Covid happened move on several months! You feel special here, staff are friendly and attentive, the decor is clamour all the way and in the dining room, a pianist plays as you dine. The food is top notch, we had a set menu so more restricted choice but great none the less. The only quibble from mother was a lack of vegetables with the main dish! Treat yourself now, life is to be lived!

Came to have this very famous afternoon tea at the Ritz for the first time after over 7 years in London. Because of Covid, accessing the restaurant felt like going through airport security with temperature and name checks. But the place looked magnificent inside.Loved the tea and the cakes, especially the clotted cream. I’ll admit, I agree with some people here: the sandwiches could be better. They didn’t have much taste. The waiters were actually really nice, and received excellent service. No fault at all. Overall it was pretty good. Very fancy if anything.

29/09/2020: We went for lunch following the post lockdown reopening and it was a first-class experience. All the staff are trying really hard to make it a good time given the change in circumstances, the food and wines are as ever excellent.
11/09/2020: Having followed Alexis since his early Roussillon days I am truly delighted he is back. Stylish new decor, strict but essential covid restrictions in place. We loved today’s lunch.A master chef yes, but a man always able to showcase his skills, simply, classically, beautifully, I applaud you. Today’s launch was faultless, I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves French cookin.

Le Gavroche

08/10/2020: At £55 without wine, this is the best Michelin set lunch in London. You can add wine if you wish. Three courses with three “options” to pick from in each course. The food is classic french, very high standards of taste and presentation. You can have cheese instead of dessert from the amazing cheese trolley. You can also add a famous Swiss cheese soufflé to your meal for £13 per portion. They normally have a wonderful fresh ice cream trolley as well but that is offline during Covid. Even during the pandemic it was a lovely environment and of course the general manager and also Michel Roux Jr come out to each table to say hello which is always a nice touch.Congrats to Nitesh & Sona !
01/08/2020: Prompted by a newspaper article by Michel Leroux, we returned for my birthday dinner yesterday evening. The tables may have been rearranged to comply with Lockdown rules, but it was as splendid as I remember it from 9 years ago. There is no lift down to the lower ground floor but I managed the stairs.Le Gavroche now has a fixed price menu of 4 courses at £80 inc VAT and service, which we chose. Each course was perfectly cooked and presented. After amuse-bouches, we had a slice of cured salmon, skate wing, and stuffed rabbit roundels. I cannot say there was a Wow taste with any though the very mature Comte I chose from the cheese trolley was superb. There was a full team of servers, neatly dressed with black face masks. It was all very efficient and professionalLoos are on the same floor as the restaurant and well maintained
