Underrated. Great place to go for a quiet pint, it has a beer garden and does a decent burger and chips.

Great Garden open in the summer. Still has a covered outside seating area thru the winter. The staff are lovely all year round.

Solid little town centre pub. More charm than the standard GK offering with good burgers and decent music played at the right level. Just one guest beer on at the time (Ranmore, Surrey Hills) and ales well looked after.

Nice small pub. Very ‘locally’. Emphasis on the small. Urinals were out of use. Disappointing pint. Ventured down the road instead.

Mo, Sarah and Shah are great. This is a nice little local pub and beer garden serving great food and drinks. Worth a visit if you’re passing.

Great food, Generous Landlord very friendly. Great private garden with shade and smoking area. Used toilet facilites which was very clean and tidy. Would recomend to anyone.

In the land of flat pints The Rifleman is a rare oasis serving well kept beer in the Northern style using sparklers on their hand-pulled beer pumps. Northern beers are sold in pubs in London and Surrey but usually the request to use a sparkler is met with a blank look - despite the pumps having threads at the bottom of the spout to fit one. The landlord and staff are friendly. The pub is Victorian and has small beer garden out the back.

A nice down to earth pub decent selection of beers amd simple food to keep you going but cooked and served well. Enjoyed the music too. Had a pleasant simple Xmas night out with friends.

It was OK but undesirable customers swearing non stop means we won't return when there's a lot of other places near by.

This is a quiet and friendly family run pub with a servicable garden and well kept Green Kings cask ales. At the same time I enjoyed a great atmosphere for the Euros a couple of times. Mo is a congenial host and always pleased to see you.

Fab traditional pub with exceptionally well kept beers by an experienced and old school Landlord who knows his business like a true professional. Small but very tasty menu and more than adequate for a small pub. I had one of my 50th birthday parties there and Mo was an excellent host. Thoroughly recommended as a lovely pub with great beer.

Our local and is great. Bit small and very busy on Friday so lucky to get a seat. Moh the owner and the other staff always friendly and polite. The burgers are outstsning. traditional English pub and love it.

Visited The Rifleman today, had read the previous reviews and was unsure of what to expect However the welcome was warm, the Guinness was excellent and despite the kitchen being closed we were offered a fabulous selection of food as the Chef was still around We had a great steak cooked to perfection Visit this pub it’s great and a little gem in Epsom

Nice little pub . 1 issue tho.. I was meeting up with a friend and we agreed to meet in there , I sat quietly at the bar waiting for me friend then this gentleman came up to me and told me I wasn’t allowed to sit there , I kindly replied why ? He said to me that seat belongs to Ted boy and he’s on his way down so move now, I didn’t want to make a fuss so I moved to the back of the pub, if I knew seats are purchased like a season ticket then I probably wouldn’t of cone in .

Have worked in Epsom for 22 years and have finally settled on a regular pub. If you want a really loud pub with loads of people it might not be for you but if you want a more traditional pub with a good selection of beers, and friendly staff, it's the best in Epsom. We go there every Friday lunch and the Landlord puts out a 'reserved' sign for us which is a really nice touch!

Refused entry on the grounds of work wear , I’d only bought my brand new snickers that weak because of all the extra Christmas pud , and as any workman knows snickers are the Gucci of work trousers , and I was absolutely spotless cause I’m lazy and don’t do a lot on Fridays , pub looks run down anyway can’t see why a paying customer wouldn’t be allowed in

Refused to serve a hard working man because he was in his work uniform (which was clean) this is terrible customer service I will avoid in future

Turns tradesmen away for wearing workwear! Only wanted a pint!!! Tradesmen are the back bone of this country, and after a long week grafting all they want is a pint or two. Poor!!!

My and my business partner got refused a cold beer due to wearing a building company jumper at the time and it being policy not to serve people in work uniform. This is mans oldest right and we wasn’t event dirty. Not acceptable. Your need us to fix stuff but Won’t serve us a pint.

The worst service ever , went in with some friends , beer was flat and the most unfriendly staff . food was like cardboard , won't return ever .

OK pub, bit of a throw back to traditional pubs. Small, blokey front bar, can get uncomfortably too busy. Bar staff pretty cold and unengaging. No USP but guess most pubs can be like this?? (Didnt try the food - evening drinks only)

If anyone has read one of my reviews before you'll know I specialise in back street pubs. The Fox I found a while ago on a bike ride along the grand union canal. Fab exterior with those brown and green glazed tills of Victorian era. I'd heard they had done some work and feared they had destroyed the history inside with that gastro destruction. Fortunately although altered it's a good sympathetic make over I approve of. Beer excellent cellar, food simple pub fare well cooked for a reasonable price. Would I meet a girlfriend for a first date there? I did, she loved the place and all smiles.

We were looking for somewhere in Epsom (so I could walk there) where I could order a steak for a low key birthday dinner. The places seem to be few and far between in Epsom so we chose the Rifleman. There was a warm welcome from a friendly barmaid who was happy to discuss the range of different beers on offer. The menu is not extensive but includes burgers, salads, platters (beef chilli and seafood) and steaks. Have had a bad experience recently with how my steak was cooked, when asked how I wanted it cooked I described what I wanted and what I didn't want. The barmaid thought it best to call the chef who came to the bar and discussed it with me. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasty. It would have been nice if there had been a side salad on the menu but in respospect, I think that if I had asked for one, they might have obliged. The beer was good as well. Don't expect cordon bleu, I wasn't but my expectations were met and exceeded. The atmosphere was good with background music that was being played at the right volume. That is we could here the music but also have a conversation. We agreed that we will be going back there in the future.

Favourite Epsom pub. Excellent range of ales, there is always something different.

Cleaner and tidier than most private houses, yet cosy and comfortable – boasting a neatly kept garden / spacious lawn that's sunny all afternoon!

Went in first time. Girl served me a pint of Guinness. Poor. Then yesterday I go in the owner gives me something in a pint glass and says. It may not look good but it will taste good. It was shameful to give this out. Never mind charge me almost five pounds for this pure ____. It's a handy pub to my house but this was twice in two days . If a dark stuff drinker. Steer clear. On the money front. One of the most expensive pubs in Epsom town .

Went shopping in Epsom with my daughter and spied this place so thought we’d give it a go for lunch. Interior is a bit dark as it’s rather small inside, but the service was great, very friendly and the food is lovely and well priced. Chocolate fudge cake is divine. Will definitely go again if we’re in the area.

Great Traditional English pub. A large selection of excellent real ales which are well kept and good home cooked food. By far the best thing about this pub is the staff and the atmosphere. Warm and welcoming the pub has an amazing garden and a cozy inside. Perfect place to be when they have live bands playing. In a few words this is the type of pub where you feel like a local even if its your first visit.

Best pub in Epsom! The draught still cider is wonderful. A small venue with a small menu, but what it has is always the best quality. Very friendly staff.

I’ve known the rifleman at its worst and am pleased to say that it has much improved under it’s current management. It’s a small and friendly pub with a small and sunny garden. The food is always excellent. The staff are friendly and the locals a pleasure to chat to.

Typical English pub. Large selection of beer and cheap. I recommend.
