Went here for lunch and it was lovely, Staff were friendly and efficient. Our starters came and couldn't fault them. My husband had Cullen skink and it was lovely and creamy but had chunks of fish in it. The terrine was also tasty and good portions. We both had the Roast beef which was nice and tender and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Everything was hot and couldn't fault it at all. Would have no hesitations in going back.

Just found this place in Oldmeldrum for lunch with my wife and so glad we did. Service was exceptional and backed up by really good pub food. Given it was winter everyone was inside but looking outside it would be a fantastic place for sitting in the gardens for food and a beer as there are plenty of tables. Good selection on the lunch menu and very pleased to see vegetarian and GF options available. We will be back soon for sure.

My wife and I meet with friends every Christmas for a Christmas lunch Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, our 2020 lunch had to be cancelled. Now that the lockdown restrictions are easing, we decided to have a late Christmas lunch to cheer us up and agreed on going to the Redgarth. We have been a couple of times when allowed and must compliment them on their precautions. I have always felt safe and comfortable. Each of us had a different meal, all of which resulted in cleared plates even although the portions were "hearty"! Lovely desserts to finish off the meal meaning four very satisfied customers. As a bonus, unlike the last time we were there, we were able to have beers and wine with our meal.

We had a lovely meal yesterday at the Redgarth. The food was cooked to perfection, especially the steak. The fish was giant and very good too. The lack of alcohol wasn't a problem. Although, It will be great when we can have a glass or wine or one of the special ales. Hardier folk can have a drink outside. Stewart and team were welcoming, happy to be open and really friendly. The service as always was excellent. The social distancing and temperature taking on entry allow you to relax and feel safe. It was great to get out again and we'd really recommend a visit

Went here for lunch and it was like being transported back in time (but in a good way). Traditional old fashioned pub and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and the manger was great coming around all the tables to check we were doing ok, you just don’t get that kind of service in most places these days. My wife and I both had toasties and chips, which were great and just what we needed, no frills just good honest grub. Price was very reasonable and all COVID measures adhered to. Hotel has great views of bennachie and has a decent sized car park.

Heading out of Aberdeen towards Inverness, we stopped here for our supper on a Tuesday evening (15% off your meal during September on certain days of the week).First impression was that the car park surface requires sorting out a bit.The approach to reception was attractive with the flowers, lighting and outdoor seated areas.A sanitiser dispenser welcomed us at the main entrance. We were masked up.At reception we were approached by a helpful member of staff straight away and shown to our table (We had to reserve a table, over the phone, when leaving Aberdeen). The place was busy, with a fine ambience.Drinks orders were taken straight away. The surrounding light was a bit dim, and the font too small, to be able to read the menu without glasses. My meal was very good. It should be served on a larger plate, as my meal was nearly over flowing (which you don't see very often for under £15.....and that's not inc. discount)! A most enjoyable supper. A main meal was ample, as I left stuffed.

Heading out of Aberdeen, we stopped here for supper. I hadn't been here for a long time. The entrance/exit to the car park is not the best (on the other hand it does slow you down) because of the pot hole and undulating ground. We got there at the right time, as 30 minutes later it was packed, on this Saturday evening. Welcomed by friendly staff. We had a window seat by the bar, which wasn't a problem. A nice ambience. We'd made no reservation. Toilets clean/tidy.The young lady who served us was clear, informed, polite and efficient. Our food/drink was produced quickly. My haddock and chips were excellent (just under £15, which I don't mind for such service/attitude/substance). The batter was not greasy and just right, as with everything else. Even the consistency of my pint of orange and lemonade was bang on (and very cold). The manner in which our food was placed by us was elegant and deliberately delicately done. All these small points registered with me. Excellent service and attitude. Thank you The Redgarth staff, for a most enjoyable experience with my family. I'll be back.

The 'Garth' is a bit of an institution - warm welcome from staff and locals, comfy, clean, tidy and with a decent, mainstream, pub menu, cooked and served with care and a bit of pride that reflects in the taste. Prices are value for money but also reflect the fact that standards are high. You get good stuff, well presented and pay a pound or two [but little more] above the local norm for standards that never drop below it.Comfortable, reliable, and offers immaculately nurtured and dispensed Real Ales to a legendary standard. The raspberry sauce on the mash overpowered all the other flavours. The walnuts in the mash potato though tasty were a bit misplaced (nice creamy mash with small hard lumps of walnuts). We have been going to the Redgarth for years. It's the best country pub in Aberdeenshire with a great selection of food on the menu and many different beers. Proper pub food that looks and tastes fantastic! The chef never disappoints. Great friendly atmosphere which is good for couples, families and friends. The garden out the front is nice to sit out on a sunny day. The owner Mr Singer is always so cheery and always makes time to say hello. Highly recommend!

Had a meal in the lounge bar last night. The menu held several surprises and all of us had to think before we ordered wil plenty choices. The food arrived and was served by very friendly waitresses who were very polite and had a smile all the time. The food was well above average and the portion size was above average. All in all we have an enjoyable evening and the bill was not too bad.Would be a terrific choice for a family get together with plenty quite corners for small parties. Will certainly return. Thanks for a evening of fun and enjoyment.

My sister-in-law was in Aberdeen on business and came to visit us in Oldmeldrum so we decided to take her to the Redgarth for an evening meal. As it was the Friday evening before the Meldrum Sports, we decided to book rather then leave things to chance. We were met by a charming young lady who directed us to our table and waited patiently whilst I went up to the bar to check out what real ales were on offer.Skipping starters, my wife and her sister both had Breaded Haddock and Chips whilst I opted for Gammon Steak and Chips, but with a fried egg rather than pineapple. As usual, ample portions, beautifully cooked. Our waitress attended to us well throughout the evening and never stopped smiling. As is his wont, Stewart came over just to check that everything was in order which, of course, it was. My only slight complaint is that, good as they are, the desserts are a bit expensive compared to the rest of the menu. Will I return? Certainly, and I shall probably still have dessert!

.....when it's an all 'day breakfast'!!Went here for evening dinner on a Friday towards the middle of May.Arrived about 7pm, lively atmosphere and not many unreserved seats....a good sign!Welcome was warm and friendly.Drinks ordered in good time, then meals. My son and I ordered a 'Mixed Grill' (£13.95) each, my wife had the 'Pork Loin' (£13.75).The menu is laid out a little oddly, it doesn't fully describe what the mixed grill consisted of. I enquired with the waitress, checking that it included the 'normal' constituents; I.e. Steak, chicken, gammon, a pork or lamb chop, sausage etc? Yes, she replied, it's a whole list of things, did she want me to check with the chef?I said no that's fine, if it's the 'normal' parts then fine.Ok, perhaps I should have checked! What the Redgarth actually calls a mixed grill is a £13.95 breakfast! A sausage, a slice of black pudding, a rasher (single) of bacon (not gammon), and two small pieces of liverChips and onion rings finish off the plate.Sorry Redgarth, this is NOT a 'Mixed Grill'!When I enquired at the bar, the batman said I was the first to complain in 25 years! Also, he commented that we'd eaten all that had been served (well, we were all hungry!)I asked him about charging nearly £14 for a breakfast, he disagreed and described what should have been served, including a pork chop (well, there weren't any on my or my sons servings?!)I then enquired as to why (quite cleverly??) the contents of the grill weren't specified on the menu? He told me he would change that the next daySo, personally I don't like the fact that they seem to be very 'conservative' with their descriptions on the menu, charge high prices for what you do receive, and then are not receptive to criticismA shame!I've been to the Redgarth several times, but will double checking the menu reflects what you're actually going to get if we go back

We ate at this fantastic restaurant whilst staying in the Oldmeldrum area for a family wedding. The menu on offer was very varied and contained excellent special dishes for the day. We had a vegetarian in our party and there was plenty of choice available to meet her dietary requirements. The portions were huge and the food delivered hot . Staff were friendly , polite and very professional.Prices were very good and even the wine was reasonably priced. The relaxed atmosphere made for a fantastic family evening and I will look forward to returning to experience more good food and the Redgarths excellent service and hospitality.

Returned after several years and much quieter than expected. Atmosphere a little lacking but staff friendly and welcoming. Interesting menu and I chose the sweet potato and leek flan. Delicious but could have been hotter. Salads enjoyed by my daughters but nothing out of the ordinary. However my husband's steak was very well cooked and he was really impressed by it. We will return if in the area.

Very disappointing as had been many times with no complaint. Today the service was very poor, plenty young staff buzzing around but achieving little. We had to ask to order sweets, ask several times for the bill. Had a long time to wait for our food which was far from the usual standard. Rather overpriced also.

Just been to the Redgarth for a meal with my partner for the first time. A warm welcome from Stuart Singer and the staff make you feel at home right away. The restaurant is a pleasant place to spend time, without the overly load background Muzak associated with some. The produce used is locally sourced and of high quality with the menu changing every 2-3 weeks.I choose the Venison and Beef main, served with a walnut and berry mash, new potatoes and veg. My partner had the Sea Bass, served in a sauce with the same veg and new potatoes. Followed by fruit pudding with custard and golden Syrip sponge and custard respectively. All dishes beautifully presented and prepared, full of flavour and portions that didn't feel like a chore to eat. Stuart and his staff are to be congratulated on providing an excellent dining experience, we will be back!

We arrived to a poorly lit and uneven car park, which is a danger on dark nights. To be fair, we did arrive early, but as our table wasn't ready yet, we were given a table in front of the door, and on a freezing cold December night, we got blasted by cold air every time the door opened, The food was ok, but we were cold and uncomfortable and could not enjoy the meal. We told the staff how cold it was, and were told we would be moved when our table became vacant, but to be honest the food was on the table, and it was too cold to stay long, we just ate the food quickly and left. The Redgarth is a busy place and I get the impression that the owners just want bums on seats and don't care if the customers are comfortable or not. If you decide to go here in the winter, then a torch and blankets are advised. Perhaps it's time the owners invested in a door-closer, and an air-curtain heater to keep the winter at bay. And some lights in the car park.

Been here a few time now and ive come to the conclusion the food is not all that great. For example, my other half always tries the chicken dishes and the chicken is always served on the plate dry. Nevertheless, Id say the highlights to this restaurant are: lovely service, real ales and the vegetables.

The Redgarth thankfully has not changed for many many years. It is a good local country pub and serves well cooked pub meals. We had a large party of 9. The food was really hot and tasty. My only complaint was the time it took for the meals to come. It was a Monday night and the bar was really quite busy, and I don't think that they had enough staff on for the number of people in the place. It was often difficult to catch one of their attention. I was also surprised at the prices, but I haven't been around the UK for a number of years so may be out if touch with how much is reasonable. I did feel that it was on the expensive side for what we had. We did all have drinks, and there were some desserts and coffee, but our bill was nearly $500. Worth a visit but be prepared for it to take a while.

A group of 9 of us had an evening meal at this pub. Being local ourselves we hoped for a welcoming atmosphere and an enjoyable evening with good food and pleasant surroundings. Our initial welcome was fine but from then on the experience went downhill. We were put in a room on our own which in effect meant that the staff forgot we were there! We had to find someone to take our order for extra drinks and it took ages to find someone to take our sweet order. As for paying the bill - I don't think they wanted the money! The young girls who served us were surly and almost threw the food at us. All in all not a very pleasant experience and we certainly won't be going back in a hurry. Such a shame as the pub has atmosphere and is in a lovely setting.
