Another visit and great food. I had the chicken Milanese, never had it before and thoroughly enjoyed, will definitely be having again. All four adults and three children cleared their plates. Hispi cabbage was the absolute fav! Service/Staff were really lovely and attentive. Can get quite noisy in the reserved seating area. But nice to see a pub busy!!

Astonishingly good food : creative, tasty and beautifully presented. Friendly staff and an excellent champagne cocktail I've never had anywhere else : a Buck's fizz with added Grand Marnier called a Grand Mimosa (I think.) Top marks in all categories!

We went in to the Red Lion on the off chance that they might have a table despite it being a Saturday evening between Christmas and New Year. The staff in the restaurant area were very kind in accommodating us and finding a table. The service continued to be excellent and attentive, and the food was great – I can't speak for the whole menu but the Fish & Chips and both the ginger and sticky toffee puddings were exactly what we'd hoped for! For London, the prices were maybe slightly above average (although drinks were very reasonable), but this is definitely a well above-average pub (calling it a pub seems unfair – especially considering the grandeur of the restaurant area!). On a practical note, I was surprised to find that there was free parking at the rear of the pub – an there's also plenty of on-street parking in local roads in the evenings and on Sundays. There were also plenty of well-behaved dogs attending dinner which we loved, and makes it a practical stop after (or before) a long walk!

Great atmosphere and awesome service. Food quality, however, was not great. It was presented well and was edible, but the quality was not 10/10... ordered the steak, and the potatoes were extremely dry as if they were left out after being cooked... veggies were extremely salty but well cooked. Steak was mediocre as it was half overcooked. I'm not sure how they managed that. starter, which was the whipped feta with pine nuts and bread, was awesome. Overall, it was decent enough for pub food. I would recommend it, but don't expect world defining meals. 8/10 would go back, won't order the steak. Oh, and also, why do they not bring the bottles closed? Ordered two bottles of wine, and both came pre-opened from the bar...

Went on Saturday lunch in December. Must say disappointing okish lunch. Ordered a burger as main course. Quite dry and tasted dull. It’s sad I had to use ketchup to make the taste better. British pub food in the UK is getting worse. I paid around £32 (per person) for shared starter (whitebait) and a main course and a shared dessert and a shared sparkling water. The sticky toffee pudding was however good which I think can hardly go wrong. To be honest, I rather pay more and go for Michelin guide/star restaurant. I just don’t know how British pub/restaurants can survive at this rate. Maybe they are meant for unrefined palate. Service quality of waiter was good and polite nevertheless.

Great local pub with excellent food. The chicken and leek pie is a Red Lion classic and the fish and chips are reliably excellent too. Always some interesting specials on the blackboard too. Lovely staff, the service was good, clean place. The garden looked nice. The food was disappointing chicken roast looked dry, the roast beef were very thin and not enough , burger was over cooked, roast potatoes were very dry but Yorkshire was good . We ordered around 7pm I guess the roasts were made early in the day and kept warm under the lights. Therefore better order the roasts at lunch time.

It's rare to find a really good Sunday roast in a pub, but the Red Lion offers one of genuinely high quality. Very tasty, good variety of veg and sides - you can tell a bit of thought and care has gone into it. Very impressed.

Honestly, I'm still amazed at the quality of food this place pumps out. For the price, ease, and quality you'd think you'd have to make a reservation at a fancy restaurant but not at the Red Lion. The Norfolk Chicken Milanese will blow you away as will anything else you order. Such a gem of a pub.

Lovely place. I chose it as it looked like a nice place to end a summer bike ride along the Thames path with my grown up daughters and it was a perfect decision. It is a beautiful pub in the villagesque setting of Barnes, with a very chilled outside seating area (but the inside pub looked great as well). The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, the service was prompt, and the whole ambience was perfect. We went for a meat burger, a vegan burger, and the chicken schnitzel which were all just right (the schnitzel was home made and served with a very fresh fennel slaw). The menu looked like it had something for everyone at a range of prices to suit everyone, and the bar was well stocked with decent ales, ciders etc. Would thoroughly recommend.

Second visit since moving to the area and it just seems to get better! Superb Sunday roast, dessert was yum and fab wine list. Lovely attentive staff, service was fantastic. We were able to stay over our allocated slot time and they were super flexible with my family’s requests. Gorgeous settings and a nice beer garden and grill too, my little one enjoyed exploring! A roast with a decent wine will set you back about £35- expensive, but honestly it’s worth the price tag imo. Keep up the superb job team, Barnes are lucky to have The Red Lion.

Super pub and huge on the inside. Great outdoor garden and front patio area is also good for catching the sun and watching the world go by. Sunday roasts are a must as we had had many recommendations to try one which we did late last year. Our most recent visit was for a small lunch and drink. I had the chicken club sandwich which comes with triple cooked chips and it was excellent and very well priced. We also tried the steak sandwich again very very nice. The pub is super dog friendly with lots of water bowls and not too cramped inside. Only criticism is there was lots of staff members which can sometimes counter act how long you wait to be served, but the bar was very quick and we did wave down some one to help order our food but we're looked over a few times as I can only assume they thought we were already being served. Well worth a visit and will be back. Photos of my sandwiches 😋

I visited for a meal last Saturday and the service and food were outstanding and for that alone would score a strong 5. However, I am disgusted that in a formal dining area that 4 tables had dogs. Not only were they barking and disrupting the experience, little regard is given to the customer. Dining out should always be hygienic and there is a reason that dogs were restricted from food establishments for years. You are also discriminating against a huge portion of customers who, on top of the hygiene risks of having dogs in close proximity to food prep, also have allergies or even phobias. It’s beyond comprehension that any serious food establishment, or in fact, any chef worth their salt would allow this.

A very pleasant experience with one exception. Staff were lovely and food was good value (price v. quality). Timing worked very well for a pre-film meal with the order being taken promptly and the food arriving at the right time. I just don’t feel able to rate the experience higher though because the restaurant allowed dogs amongst the diners and some dogs were actually present in the dining room. Whilst some customers may find this to be acceptable, it cannot be right to expose other guests to the hygiene risks associated with having animals in a public dining room.

Terrible. The are literally right next to the London Wetland Centre which is having a family friendly Christmas event. It seemed logical to stop by this pub on our way home (this was at 6pm). NO signs whatsoever, but apparently children are not allowed. The kids were sitting quietly and colouring and we had ordered some drinks before they came to tell us we were not welcome. We walked out having spent £20 on drinks we didn’t feel comfortable finishing. If you have a no children allowed policy, signs on the doors would be a good place to start. Also, consider your location and time of year. Ridiculous place, ridiculous policy. To be clear, we didn’t tick ANY terms and conditions as mentioned below. No where in the pub did it state children were not welcome. We were only told AFTER we had ordered drinks. This would have been around 6:10pm.

It is more of a quick bite place than a sit down restaurant. Choose to eat in and there are seats upstairs or choose to takeaway and go sit on Richmond Green! The Spicy Chicken wrap is made with the freshest wrap - cooked in the fire pit style oven in front of you where it puffs up and is then filled with chicken, lightly spiced and then the wonders of pickles and sauces! Everything else smells amazing and it is a must for a snack in Richmond! Avoid the Whole Foods opposite the road and step into Chicken wrap heaven - try and avoid the sweet treats near the door too!
