Great food, friendly staff, wonderful pub :)

This place used to be wayyyy better. No table service now. Building is falling into disrepair. Food was ok but carvery was disappointing, cauliflower seemed to be cooked for 2-3 hours. Very dirty condiments. needs Maintenance urgently, eg broken light bulbs, water logged ceiling. Head office please take note (photos)

As a longtime patron of The Red Lion, I've always held this establishment in high regard. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disheartened and disillusioned. After leaving my contact details to book a room for my daughter's upcoming communion over a month ago, I have yet to receive any communication from the venue. This lack of follow-up is not only disappointing but also reflects a concerning decline in customer service standards. Having been a loyal customer for years, it pains me to acknowledge that this pub seems to have lost its charm. From the apparent lack of communication to an overall decline in service quality, it's evident that something has changed, and not for the better. As someone who has cherished memories of this establishment, it's saddening to see it fall short of its former glory. I can't help but wonder if there's been a change in management or if other factors have contributed to this decline. My recent experience 2 days ago has left me questioning whether I can continue to support an establishment that has seemingly lost its way. I sincerely hope that steps are taken to address these issues and restore The Red Lion to its former reputation as a beloved local gem.

Fabulous team at the Red Lion, carvery food was delicious and plentiful, bar staff great and the Pizza outstanding -

Very friendly staff who were welcoming and also helped us with choosing a drink and menu. Food was not the best, was okay. The roast was a bit dry, and the burger did not look very appetising. Would give it another try, but not getting my hopes up.

Carvery food merely warm and average. Staff clearly need training especially the day manager who seemed to think she was expending favours to paying customers, and the meat carver who was uncommunicative and uncaring. Atmosphere zero.

Very efficient service from the young lady that waited on our table, I think they should receive their tips at the end of every shift, that have been given via card payment or at least the next working day, not 6-8wks later!

The carvery was delicious and the service was excellent

I visited on Sunday lunchtime as normal I had a large carvery as normal the meat was tender and a decent portion the veg selection was ok I would liked to have seen some broccoli the staff were polite as usual and the restaurant was clean I would like to see a few real ales in the red lion currently none overall a decent carvery a good place to watch football as well

Went for Sunday Lunch, The choice was quite limited, maybe it was because of the time we arrived. The down side to our experience, was a family with 2 children, arrived with one child with a high-pitched, piercing screaming, and this went on for at least 20 Mins... The parent did not even notice... just let it run feral, with no shoes on.. Management should have intervened;. We had to leave before finishing our paid for meal.

Lovely carvery, pleasant chefs and front of restaurant staff. My only concern is that, as usual, the food isn't hot enough, usually lukewarm and sometimes I have to get my meal zapped. Somehow the food should be stirred every so often to maintain some heat. Putting gravy on doesn't always make it hotter. Otherwise it's lovely.

Kayleigh & Charlie customer service skills were immaculate I arrived 5 minutes before breakfast was due to end but still allowed to purchase breakfast much appreciated to breakfast buffet have a such a variety and very delicious

It's a great pub with fine Ales and great place to eat! They also have a good size car park which is I understand free providing you register.

Great place for a cheap cavery get a god amount of food.

We were looking to visit my dad but needed somewhere with good food and dog friendly for our 2 dogs! Found the red lion, they reserved us a table in the bar area as that was dog friendly. We were seated quickly and they explained to order at the bar and take our carvery ticket to the carvery counter when ready. The food was lovely, with pork, gammon, turkey and beef offered. The food was hot and very tasty. Was good value for money. My dad loved it too so we be back when we visit him next ❤️

Came in with our family dog and sat with our coffee we purchased. We bough out dog treats on the table and the big lady owner came in with a angry frustrated manor shouting "did you grab from deck!?" Claiming we stolen food from the deck 😂 ridiculous- made us highly unwelcomed and uncomfortable. Truly amateurs at food and people skills.

For the Sunday buffet this place is a gem, Italian chef is super friendly chatty and a good person. As is all the staff here they are very positive and super helpful this is a definite recommend my daughters love the new menu it’s so much better quality than the previous menu pizza is fabulous very authentic we enjoy visiting , a very good pint of Guinness for Dad, super local pub with very good staff always a pleasure to eat here super value for money Well done red lion people

Quiet pub. Food is lovely, very similar to Toby Carvery. Free Parking. I have been going there for about 5 years now.

All I have to say is 5 stars for Desmond what a lovely helpful man and a wonderful smile.

We had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and the waiting staff were so helpful and welcoming

No presentation of the food. Vegetables looked like and tasted like they were just dug up and covered in gravy. The vodka and tonic smelled as if the glass was washed in detergent or the lemon in the drink was off. £100 spent on a very disappointing evening.

Spacious pub, friendly and efficient service, free for patrons parking and live music! Recommended!

I visited this restaurant/bar with my work colleagues for our Christmas party. It is a lovely old pub. The food was not the best to be fair as the veg was not thoroughly cooked, but it wasn't bad. Drinks are reasonably priced and staff were polite and friendly. Unfortunately very near to our table was the disabled toilet and it was obvious it was there. Still, it seemed a nice place.

We recently visited as a family, we enjoyed a lovely evening. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and well presented. The floor staff were very attentive and helpful.

Nice pub, had a good meal and staff were very friendly and were especially kind to my 2 small children.

Ice cream machine not working AGAIN. No pork, was told only at weekends. Roast Potatoes were cooked hours previously, vegetables are all frozen not fresh and I even saw the box for Aunt Bessie Yorks Puddings. The hole place has gone downhill. Used to be better than Toby, not now.

A slightly disappointing carvery. Meat was dried out from being under heat lamps and yet was still cold. Pigs in blankets was just sausage, and the yorkshire puddings were little better than frozen supermarket ones. But the meat portions were good and the veg was plentiful.

You could Improve the food The beef was terrible it was tough and had 2 strands of sinu running through it. It was inedible, I had to leave it And when you only get a couple of thin slices anyway I was left with a plate of vegetables and gravy. The peas were like ball bearings.!!! The rest was ok to be fair Probably won’t be returning for a while I would rather spend a couple more pounds and get a good meal

Came here for Mother’s Day and I can’t fault it. Even though it was busy we were seated quickly and orders were taken quickly too. Went and order some drinks at the bar and the young man Timmy behind the bar was lovely, very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to people

Me and the family visited red lion on mothers day for a roast as that's what the Mrs fancied. Parked in the car park behind (free for visitors) checked in and was seated quite quickly. Waited a couple of minutes for a waitress/waiter to be free as it was busy. A waiter turn up,very nice and professional took our order and off we went to grab our roasts.We hadn't had a roast in ages and as expected it was beautiful every forkful was hot and full of flavour from the potatoes nice and fluffy,meat was juicy not dry and the mint sauce was missed the most.5 * visit. Very happy

Very poor pub, with no real ales when I visited. The Mitre opposite is 100 times better and food is better also.

Lovely homely place, always feel welcome, staff couldn't be nicer. Our favourite waitress Lorri is so helpful & amazing, she deserves an award for her wonderful kindness!

Very friendly and helpful staff!

Been here many times with family and friends and always had a good time. The staff are friendly and Lorri even remembered my dad who used to go there with his friend. A lovely place with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Food portions are good too.

Timmy is so polite a credit to the company and flawless personality always putting the football on for me if on other station when i arrive

Used to come here for breakfast and evening networking events and now using for a lunchtime networking event. Consistently good food at all three times. Easy parking but do remember to log your number plate on the bar terminal. Always clean, staff always lovely, inexpensive and very generous food portions too.

This was my first visit here, as I was attending a new monthly meeting (the first of many, I hope). What great staff, and so helpful (Paula and Lorri were terrific). The Carvery lunch was excellent, abs plentiful. The chef was so friendly too. Such a great place to visit, and with onsite car parking (remember to enter your car registration to the computer display to ensure you don’t get a fine, as Patrice receive free parking. I will definitely be back on my own, as well as for the meetings. Many congratulations to the entire team!!

Ate here and was served buy a lovely polite waitress call lorri I think I was sitting on table 2 and was really impressed by the quality of food and over heard someone having a complaint and was dealt with quickly and with the upmost respect will definitely be returning

Reserve a table and requested for booth sitting, when we got there they couldn't accommodate the request. Order carvery and they were out of beef by 6:30pm. When placing and paying for the order I wasn't informed that they didn't have any beef yet they asked me if I wanted (medium, large or extra large) and I ended ordering large because I mainly came to eat beef. Ordered drinks and they did not have passion fruit Martini. Poor service. Is it so hard to inform their customer. I am so disappointed with the whole experience and have decided I will never come to this place ever again or recommend it to anyone. Not worth even a star.

Timmy is a very helpful, courteous professional waiter. The main carvery very food was nice(very small portions of meat!) but the Ice cream Sundae was not a sundae but machine ice cream without any fillings but a mere meagre choice of chocolate etc sauce!! Left much to desire….

I ordered a delivery today, asked for turkey&beef and I got pork. As you can see that the turkey is also raw on the inside extremely disappointed

Spacious place and nice design, serves carvery with a some variety, medium taste and quality food. Awful service, v slow and the kitchen staff very rude.

Would like to say a massive thank you to TIMMY for all his help today and doing the booking for my sons birthday. From beginning he has been so helpful and again today could not do enough. The food was lovely and fresh the only thing was the lady cutting the meats she didn't seem like she wanted to be there. But apart from that its been a great visit and will be going back again soon.

Had a great evening at Red Lion last night, food was delicious and they had a fabulous band on. Staff was friendly and polite.

Went here after work with a couple of colleagues on one of those days when you just feel skint. They have an appetizers offer 14.99 for 5 different appetizers which worked out perfectly well because you get a little bit of everything but don't have to spend too much.

I was stuck in north London due to trains being cancelled and called in here on Fri 18th Feb to wait for my husband who was collecting me. Kayleigh was a professional member of staff who is an asset to your company. All members were polite and considerate. I have severe allergies and Kayleigh brought out all the ingredients of a meal I requested so I could check the ingredients. Garlic bread was delicious and good prices for meals and drinks. Nice place to eat and very good staff

I went here on a Saturday afternoon about 5 for the carvery. I arrived and sat down went and order my food and drinks. we collected our food on the first appearance the food looks very dry and not very appetising but I gave it the benefit to the doubt. The food was all cold the only thing that was hot is the gravy. And the next 2 days the people I went with and myself had diarrhoea which stipulates the food have been sitting out for far too long at the wrong temperatures. I made a complaint about this and had a very flippant reply poor communication and service horrendous

I love the energy in this place, very positive, good food and great service. I've been working from home or should I call it my other office from the beginning of the pandemic and they have been so kind accommodating. Amanda & Lorri are lovely and they make you feel really welcome. Love the coffee and breakfast. Also I feel its fitting to add that each individual staff wether your being served by Desmond, Pauline or Kay are all amazing and really strive to make you feel at home. If I move house in the future I'll still be coming back here.

Went for breakfast on Sunday morning. After a previous disappointing experience we hadn't visited for some time. However, this time was a completely different story. The buffet food was plentiful and fresh and the service was excellent thanks to Paula and Kayleigh who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we enjoyed our meal. Went on a Sunday and very disappointing experience. The food was warm and most definitely not fresh. Felt as if the vegetables were frozen and had no flavour. The lady at the meat counter was most unfriendly and she was very mean with the portions of meat. Very pricey too £3 more than the weekly rates. Expected much better. Won't be returning again.

Best pizza in Barnet that I ve tried. Pepperoni cooked to perfection. Simple ingredients, well baked and very tasty. Chicken burger was delicious and the onions rings was AMAZING! Thanks Chef Alexandra for the best meal in Barnet

We was originally a party of 8 ( booked a table) but more people turned up so was a party of 12,so they changed the table arrangement without a problem, Food was excellent,staff are very friendly only give it a 4 star because of the Smell of sewage. Keep up the good work. 👍

I have been coming here on/off for a number of years. The last few times I have visited i have notice a smell which is rather off putting. Other than that: the food is good, staff are friendly and it has a carpark

Went here with three friends to enjoy the carvery. The lady who was serving the food was rude and unfriendly. The food itself was really unappetizing, just a big Mush of cabbage and potatoes but not nicely made and the meat was overcooked and honestly nothing special. I really wouldn't recommend this

Lorri and Amanda were outstandingly friendy they had bubbly smiles the food was outstanding and such great value for money I would recommend it to anyone it is worth more than 5 stars
