Another fantastic meal with the family. Great staff and delicious food. The beef salad is 10/10. Great selection of beers too!

First visit and went for lunch. I had the fish pie with buttered mixed greens. It was absolutely beautiful and a good sized portion too. For dessert, I had bread and butter pudding with custard. Again, delicious. Cannot fault the food, the staff or the service. A lovely place to visit. Thank you for a really first class experience.

First time visiting we didn't book we just popped in hoping they could get us in... so glad we did the food was amazing we all had the roast and it was the nicest Sunday dinner I have ever had eating out 😋 it's not overly expensive either..you pay for what you get. Definitely will be a new favourite of ours happy to drive the 40 minutes from home for the next best thing to a homemade roast

What a lovely meal we just had at The Red Lion, each of the roast meals were plentiful with a good choice of fresh veg. 2 of the diners had the ultimate roast when it first arrived as a sharing dish it did look much but as they started to put it onto their plates they realised there was plenty there, amazing how different size plates can cause an illusion. We found the staff very attentive and service was second to none. Oh and not to forget the starters and desserts some the nicest we have had for a long time. Well done The Red Lion for such a lovely joint Birthday treat.

They get your order wrong, advertise you get all the trimmings on your roast when you don’t, you get some shredded basic red cabbage, even when you tackle them about it they ignore you ! Absolutely disgusting management team

New Years Eve at the Red Lion was just great. Lovely food, great service, organised fireworks and a bit of music and dancing. Lady behind us decided to have a row with Becci which was completely unnecessary and she was exceptionally rude and argumentative. It didn’t spoil a great night for us bringing in 2024! Happy New Year and we are looking forward to our next Sunday roast 😜

Glad that we decided to eat our Christmas meal at The Red Lion. All 5 courses were delicious. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was lovely. The whole experience helped make our Christmas Day perfect.

I booked boxing day meal put £10 down but beware you don't get it of bill , but much say food was really good food shame about bill at end.

Had breakfast here today with my wife. This was our local back in the early 70s and it was our first visit back there together since then. Great changes, and all positive. Breakfast was excellent. I had The ‘Red Lion’ and my wife opted for the small breakfast. Both were delicious, and great value for money. Cappuccino was far better than from the coffee bar chains. Service was good and very friendly. Definitely going back, as we have moved back to the area.

The pub is cosy and welcoming - loved the open fire in the bar area and the background music. Service was friendly and attentive. Plenty of variety on the menu and we really enjoyed our food. Good quality and well presented. Would definitely return.

Lovely pub in the Country, we have been many times especially with the previous owner. This in my opinion now falls in to the pub food bracket and not restaurant. Down to pubs closing this is becoming a hub for the locals, which is great, but noisy for those dinning . Some soft furnishings , tables with lit candles and so on may help. Great place, good food and good atmosphere. Would recommend the Sunday roast to anyone. We all had the beef, and no one was left dissapointed. Service was very good although the staff were busy and rushed off their feet. Looking forward to going back.

I had heard great things about the Red Lion, so I chose it as a place for my partner and I to meet up with a couple of friends over dinner. The front of house staff were very welcoming and polite. Our orders for food and drink were taken promptly. The décor is nice and cosy inside, but the tables are quite small (it was difficult to fit drinks, sides and mains within the small space easily). Also the bench seat I was sat on became quite uncomfortable after sitting on it for an hour or so. The lighting was very dim inside the restaurant, which made the tiny print of the menu difficult to read. But the very attentive front of house guy noticed I was using the torch on my phone to make the print more readable, so he quickly switched on a nearby up-lighter lamp. A nice touch. The menu had changed from what was posted on the website. A couple of the dishes that we had been looking forward to sampling (Scallops starter, Meat Feast Pizza, Hunters Chicken main) were nowhere to be seen on the menu. However, the lovely and accommodating waiter managed to get the chicken dish cooked for my partner, which was very much appreciated. The food was okay. They just need to update the website menu to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately our evening was marred by a couple of excitable noisy children who were sat with their dad on the adjacent table. The father was totally oblivious to the volume of their constant shouting and the effect it was having on other diners; especially as it was interspersed with ear-piercing screams at regular intervals. One of the little darlings enjoyed an impromptu jumpy-up-and-down dance next to our table as he squealed with joy and egged his brother on to stand on a chair. Sadly the front of house staff didn’t seem too concerned that their restaurant had become a children’s adventure playground, so I had to ask the father to keep the children quiet. This gave us a five minute reprieve, until the kids took on a few more E numbers and ramped up the screaming again. I know that customer behaviour is beyond the control of the management, however it would have been better if the father had been asked by a member of staff to address his unruly children, rather than leaving it up to a customer to confront him. It’s such a shame as the Red Lion will be forever etched on my memory as being akin to dining in a crèche.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Good beer comfortable surroundings, dog and child friendly. Yorkshire pudding roast potatoes and meat all of a high standard and like home cooking. Good beer, will be going again.

Advertise a cocktail menu - outside and at the bar stating you’re doing cocktails then when trying to order one, there not available as short staffed yet restaurant is quiet. Having had a 3 course meal here then not being able to have a cocktail is just poor.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary. I had the lamb duo and my husband had the seafood ragout. My rack and braised lamb were cooked to perfection. Myself and my partner happened to drive past this pub, We decided to stop for an early dinner as the view looked wonderful from the car park. Beautiful place, fairly priced food which we both enjoyed and great service. If only we lived locally we would be regulars! Would definitely visit again

This was our first visit since the change of ownership and were quite satisfied by the meal and wine. We both had starters - crab salad for the wife and wild mushrooms on toast for me with both bringing positive comments. We then went on with a chicken main meal for my other half and a rib eye steak for me. The food was not bad but we felt there was more emphasis on quantity than quality but we still enjoyed them. What helped immensely was an excellent bottle of a Puglian red which really added to the meal. So over all, we were not disappointed and will definitely revisit.

On our way home from London and didn’t want the usual motorways offering so found this little gem not far from the motorway. The children enjoyed burgers, I had a lovely cauliflower steak and my husband enjoyed a chicken katsu burger. Lovely food well done with friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit

Drinks selection was great and we were delighted to find a bit of variety on draught (Beavertown Neck Oil IPA).Stand-out for us was the service we received from staff. Not only were they very disciplined with their sanitisation and COVID-19 practices, they greeted us at the entrance, were warm, friendly and extremely professional. Of the many places we have eaten this summer, The Red Lion offered the best service by some distance. Our server noticed I was cold and offered a blanket. Another server noticed I was heavily pregnant and opened a side door to make my journey to the bathroom shorter - small things make big difference.We absolutely recommend The Red Lion to anyone looking for a comfortable and quality dining experience.

Superb food and service in a beautiful location (we ate in the gorgeous garden to the rear of the pub). We were very well looked after from start to finish. The warm breads to start and chicken katsu burger were delicious! And the plates were stunning! Highly recommended, we will be back.

We looked this place up as somewhere to stop for lunch on the way back to Manchester, what a find! Wonderful food, great service and a very warm welcome. This is definitely worth the 7 mins off the motorway for an excellent Sunday roast.

More signs than the Highway Code! Stand reading the signs waiting for one member of staff to eventually say choose a table and then another 5 minutes before she came and asked what we wanted to drink, then waited 10 minutes for drinks.Have we tracked n traced? Have we sanitized? They spray the cleaner on the chairs!!Then one way system to go to the toilets, signs telling you to beware when coming out of loo and the next door! What will they say? We have to follow government guidelines! No you absolute covidiots you are taking it to the extreme! It is not enjoyable - I would rather stay at home!

When we arrived at 12:00 told that we had to clear the table by 13:30, not to bad considering it was Fathers day, I suppose. We ordered at about 12:15 only ordering Mains to allow for dessert. It eventually arrived at 12:47 after we prompted them only to be told that we only had the table until 13:20!!!!!!No complaints with the food the Roast Half a chicken was particually delicious and very well cookedNeedless to say the adults had neither the time nor to the wish wish to outstay their welcome by ordering dessert and left the premises at 13:25A good meal spoiled by poor service and organisation

Father's day visit. First time visiting. Lovely setting and polite attentive staff. Went for the ultimate roast for two. Beef, lamb and pork belly. The pork was lovely but unfortunately the lamb and the beef were very poor which resulted in a very disappointing meal. We are not ones to point it out and make any kind of fuss we just simply won't go back , which is a shame. We were surprised at the lack of quality of the two of our three meats. Not in the least bit tender and barly luke warm. We're not ones who expect Gordon Ramsey quality but want to pay harvester prices, but at £20 a head it has to be better than that. Dessert was lovely and presentation was great just that meat was pooooor!!!Service... 8/10...the food regrettably 4/10

the meal was expensive for what it was. the wine list isn't great, they only sell prosecco by the glass.no champagne by the glass.the meal was edible but not very tasty. my starter of mushrooms was mostly bread. the vegetables are extra, there is a poor choice . house veg was peas and very undercooked tender stem broccoli which was al dente to the point of being inedible(and I prefer al dente vegetables normally)there was very little atmosphere and the staff whilst polite weren't exactly welcomingthe maitre d was quite officious.I may be being a bit unfair as it was father"s day and fairly busy, and the previous owners did make the place special so the new owners have a lot to live up to. I have had worse meals but not sure whether I will go back

The rack was lively after sending it back to be cooked. I like rare but not raw. The shredded shoulder with it was simply a burnt dry patty. Pudding… I’m a lover of these. Again, disappointed. Such a shame. Previous visits have been fantastic . I’m not one to complain but I won’t be going back nor recommending to others.

My husband and I visited The Red Lion for our wedding anniversary last Saturday night. I have to say how impressed we were as we wanted to book somewhere close to where we were staying.From the moment we arrived the staff were attentive and looked after us. Came here on a Sunday expecting a roast dinner to arrive with the only one option of lamb and then when ordered then got told there was no lamb left either so then ordered fish and chips with curry sauce which had no flavour so asked for a side of gravy and chef said they couldn’t give us any and service wasn’t great overall wasn’t happy and would not return

We chanced upon The Red Lion at Claverdon after a visit to Warwick Castle, we were very pleasantly surprised. The pub was very nice with a lovely garden area. Alina and Shamita looked after us they were very friendly and attentive. We had the light lunch option and the burger the food was excellent and substantial. Would absolutely recommend eating there or dropping in just for a drink you will be made to feel welcome.

A chance to go back to the Red Lion just wasn’t to be passed up. Once again the food was delicious to eat and the staff were so attentive. Also in these time I felt really safe with all to measures put in place to protect customers and staff from COVID.

We called in for lunch and after reading recent reviews were looking forward to visiting Red lion,As someone that suffers from anxiety and cloister phobia when wearing a mask as I entered the restaurant without a mask on a gentleman that was behind the bar said you have to wear a mask at which point he rushed from behind the bar saying again you have to were a mask then offering me one at that point I said I’m ok thanks.He still persisted even though I was wearing a lanyard with mask exemption on with has a badge holder saying I have a disability.He was very aggressive when I ask him if he could read he was extremely rude saying there’s no need to take that attitude.I then asked what there disability policy was, this would be how staff are trained to talk to disabled customers and make them feel at ease this request was not answered By this time I’m feeling extremely anxious as I’m having to explain my disability.My wife was wearing her mask and filling out the track & trace . We we’re shown to a table by a very polite and nicely spoke lady , I must say her customer service was excellent which made the rest of our experience good .The food was excellent , well presented and extremely tasty.When finished we were brought our bill which on our way out I took to the bar as passing said thank you to which I got a groan from the gentleman behind bar , as I used the wc on the way out which are in the exit hallway as I came out the gentleman was there with his back to us sorting menus on a small table , never got a thank you or a goodbye.So I would say the food was very good , serving staff friendly but the gentleman behind bar who,s position in the company I don’t know was not at all friendly .Maybe if you have a disability that can be easily visible you may be welcomed better, but lots of people have hidden disability’s I would ask that the Red Lion address there disability training and staff pay attention to detail.
