Stopped “on the way” and was a great choice. Great food choices and really tasty Very friendly staff and great service

Great experience, pub clean and well looked after, staff friendly and welcoming. The meal was very good, only problem they did not have the first two choices for sweet( but the third choice was wonderful so if did not matter too much)

Amazing restaurant quality of food and presentation in a relaxing pub environment- attentive staff, lovely touches like fresh flowers and homemade treats. Surprises on the menu without being weird (Parmesan leaf and sushi bites in fish dish) - will definitely go again, wish we hadn’t left it so long to try out.

We were in a rush and the staff served us really quickly and efficiently. The food was excellent and the service perfect. We are always made to feel very welcome here.

This was my second visit a month after eating there with friends. Just me and my husband and it had been years since he had visited and he loved it and he’s been raving about the pork wellington ever since! It was a Friday night and the restaurant was busy again but everybody was served promptly and attentively. The staff were really friendly. Another thing I liked on both trips was that the noise level in the restaurant was perfect - enough talking that your conversation isn’t overheard but not too loud that you have to shout across the table to be heard. Really cosy, comfortable atmosphere. The food was delicious again - we had the chicken supreme and pork wellington, followed by the pear Eaton mess and Biscoff cheesecake. I was sad that their amazing key lime pie with Italian meringue wasn’t on the dessert menu but the Eaton Mess was still really yummy. Hoping to go back soon for a roast dinner - definitely our favourite place to eat in the Oundle area!

All top notch.... Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and all the courses. This pub is ideally situated on the Nene way long distance footpath and close to the historic Eaglestone village. I could not complain about food or service but I really liked the decor.... My grandparents lived in King's Cliffe, a few miles away and the decor reminded me of their house...... Loved this pub and will return.

We were a party of 22 people and the food all arrived warm and together, most had the Sunday roast and I didn’t hear any problems . There were empty plates all round. Some had dessert and they all looked very nice . The grounds had loads of tables and seats outside and a van serving Pizza but this was not open.

We had our first visit to the Red lion and will definitely recommend them in the future! The food was fantastic,service was good and the staff were professional and friendly. Looking forward to a return visit.

I so wish the pub in the village that I live in served food as delicious as The Red Lion! Thank goodness The Red Lion isn't too far away from us... My husband and I had family over from Switzerland, so rather than take them to our local pub (which is hit and miss, and well overpriced) we decided to treat them to lunch at The Red Lion. And we weren't disappointed. For starter's, I had the scallops with Parma ham, pea, and mint puree. The scallops were cooked to perfection and were a good decent size, too. My husband had the mushrooms in a filo pastry case. He said that it was very tasty but commented that the filo pastry case could have been cooked for a bit longer. My stepdaughter and son-in-law shared the Ravioli, which was on the specials board. What was a nice touch was that the kitchen shared the one portion on two plates. So many places would have just given you one plate with two sets of starter cutlery... For the mains, we had chicken chasseur. Supreme of chicken with wild mushroom gnocchi and a tarragon cream sauce - the flavours in this dish were fabulous. And two of the pork Wellington, which were also very, very tasty. For desserts, we had the Biscoff cheesecake. The trio of puddings, which were absolutely amazing. My husband had some of their homemade ice cream, which was also yummy. On in all. The starters, mains, and desserts were all really, really delicious. The portions were a perfect size. The service was great, and the staff were lovely and attentive. We also have to say that the food was sensibly priced for the quality and quantity that was served. 😊

Really lovely meal with friends. Great atmosphere with lovely decorated restaurant. Plenty of parking and really pretty garden with lots of seating. The staff were really friendly and service was prompt. Nice menu with a varied range of mains. The quality of the food was excellent ! Some description of allergens/dairy free alternatives on the menu etc would be good but maybe I just didn’t see them. I had the chicken which was really succulent, and the flavour of the sauce was perfect and went really well with the gnocchi. For dessert (and there was a really good choice) I had key lime pie and it was really delicious! Will definitely be coming back to the Red Lion soon and will be recommending it to friends and family.

Amazing Sunday lunch a week ago here. My haggis scotch egg bon bons were delicious followed by a fantastic roast beef. Couldn’t fault it. Lovely wine and fantastic service from Phillip, Laura and the whole team. Wish I lived closer as I’d be there every Sunday plus during the week too. So much better than my cooking, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went for Sunday lunch which was very good they couldn't do enough to make our visit enjoyable

On our occasional visits to this venue we have been reasonably satisfied.* It is clearly a popular pub and has always been very busy. Saturday evening at 6pm it was buzzing. Happy customers in Christmas jumpers. The food service team are smiley, attentive and show good customer skills. Our first course was figs with poached pears and Serrano ham. The dish was a culinary creation well presented and very tasty. However both of ours had some ham which had dried out and was stiff and unpleasant. Overall a lovely idea. We ordered Tandoori chicken curry and the special of hake in a ragout of beans and chorizo. The chicken was served on a hot plate ( hooray) and consisted of a whole breast/suprême marinated and served on top of rice, spinach and curry sauce. We were both surprised that the chicken breast was whole and not served diced and cooked actually in the sauce. That’s what most would expect as a curried chicken dish. My partner ate it saying it was ok albeit it was over-cooked, dry and stringy and not a proper curry. We didn’t ask if they used a Tandoori oven? …! We spoke to the manager/owner who said ‘It’s been on the menu for 3/4 months … we've served hundreds and nobody has complained! I suggested he changed the title to an accurate description of the dish to 'Breast of chicken with curry sauce etc!' My hake was very tasty and was a good portion served on a hot plate! *The kitchen is obviously staffed by competent chefs. But they don’t consistently pay attention to the details……eg checking the quality of dishes as they go across the pass to the restaurant. When questioned, the management are slightly agressive in defence as they feel the customers don’t 'understand' the business or what they are eating!' Hmm! This has been the case before at this restaurant, which is a shame.

Had Sunday late lunch /early dinner here with family for a pre Xmas meal. Without doubt some of the best service I have had in a UK pub/restaurant for ages. The staff were superb…………..friendly,professional polite and timely. The food was also an excellent standard, we had four Sunday lunches and one pasta dish plus starters and a couple of desserts. All were cooked really well, tasty and full of flavour, well presented and could not be faulted. Thourighlyrecommended. Wish we lived nearer .

14 of us visited for a Sunday roast to celebrate a family birthday. It was a first visit for me and i was impressed with the venue, the food was great (the yorkies were amazing) and any requests for extra gravy/roast potatoes arrived promptly. The staff were engaging and very friendly, will definitely return

I always love the food here! Come often with a close friend and we always have delicious food and have no problems whatsoever. Tonight was no exception; I had the salmon whilst she had the duck for the main course then went into having chocolate brownie for me and cheesecake for her. Absolutely delicious food. Cannot recommend The Red Lion enough! Staff are always happy to help and answer questions and happy to suggest meal options. 10/10 !!

This wasn’t a very good meal at all. The potatoes were undercooked and hard in the middle, the broccoli and veg was hard too and this all cost a pretty penny. Staff were good and apologetic but we didn’t want to make a fuss so didn’t even mention half of it to them. We both got painful mouth ulcers too starting the same time so could be related to the meal as we both had the same. Shame because we’ve eaten here before and it was really lovely, unfortunately we don’t have the same view anymore and shan’t be returning

Sunday lunch with my daughter, was a mixed experience. The staff were faultless and efficient, but we were disappointed with the food. The plates were cold so unfortunately before we were halfway through our meal it was cold. The meal itself was well cooked but nothing special, we both had roast pork which was served with masses of vegetables but somehow it missed being anything special. It was well cooked but not anything special, which we both felt we could have produced at home with little effort, sorry but we won’t be returning in a hurry.

A truly authentic country pub with fantastic atmosphere situated in this pretty village. Food was absolutely superb, presentation beautiful, service fantastic - smiley staff, very efficient and staff who cared about their guests and knew how to serve! Every time we visit The Red Lion whether it be lunchtime, evenings, weekdays or weekends it is always buzzing, everyone is having a great time, enjoying superb food from a great menu. They cater thoughtfully for all their guests.

Lovely little pub restaurant just outside Peterborough. Seperate dining area which has a nice atmosphere and beautifully set table. The food was nicely presented and very good quality. The staff were amazing and the toilets were nice and clean. Also has a nice outside ,covered area too.

This is our second visit and on each occasion we enjoyed delicious food and excellent service. We had the choice of eating indoors or outdoors - both had lovely atmospheres. Nothing was too much trouble and our whole experience hard to fault! Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back.

After walking to nearby Fotheringhay Castle (remains) popped in for lunch - warmly received by the staff and had the best meal of my recent three week UK visit. The landlord suggested we visit nearby Stamford - lovely market town I wasn’t familiar with - would have stayed there but Burghley International Horse Trials were on so no vacancies. Look forward to going back one day.

We enjoyed a beautiful light lunch out in the sun. We'll presented place with good quality food. The outside area is beautiful maintained with plenty of space between tables to enjoy a conversation without impacting other visitors. Staff were really helpful too. Visited on Easter Sunday. The standard Sunday menu was offered... I was secretly hoping for lamb on the menu due to being Easter but wasn't on there. I'm GF, so sometimes difficult to eat out, but they ensured I could enjoy most of the menu. Only one GF dessert option, which I didn't fancy, but was so stuffed from the starter and main, it didn't matter. Went for the pate for starter and beef roast for main. The service and food were perfect. Highly recommend. We can't wait to return!
