5 Star Sunday Nut Roast Lunch. The quality of the food was fantastic…best homemade Nut Roast we have had for a long time, in fact all the vegetables & roast potatoes were cooked to perfection & we are fussy! We had a fantastic time at this lovely pub, when we turned up for Sunday Roast Lunch with our 2 dogs, on Easter weekend. We were all made really welcome inside by the friendly staff & the atmosphere in this beautiful old pub was super. Would definitely go again if we find ourselves in the area.

Visited the pub for the first time and found the Staff very helpful and friendly. Ordered food which was reasonable priced and well presented. The prices compared to other pubs were very good.

This is great place for dining out with great atmosphere fantastic staff and above all excellent food at reasonable cost. Made very welcome first class service. Highly recommended.

My sister and I have been to The Red Lion a few times but I just had to say that the service was exceptional last Wednesday. We’d only booked that afternoon but we’re accommodated with two dogs. The waiter and waitress, Jacob and Eva, took excellent care of us and provided the dogs with a fur blanket to lie on, a bowl of water and also treats. It was a lovely evening.

A family outing for lunch on a very busy Easter Saturday. The pub looked fully booked and had a nice atmosphere, service was quick, friendly and attentive. Four different main dishes and all were excellent.

Came for lunch purely on reading reviews - ordered the home-cooked fishfinger sandwich with salad and chips. Customer service was faultless and the old world charm of the pub was fantastic. Cheap thin bread sandwich with a layer of shredded iceberg lettuce underneath the fishfingers making the bread soggy, fish fingers tasteless no seasoning, side salad on plate should be renamed as shredded iceberg lettuce garnish with pickled red onion slices and chips clearly supermarket - all for 12.95 ???? We will not be back.

Great village pub, lots of history, local walks and good selection of food/drink. Big carpark.

Went for date night with the husband, booked ahead, table allocated straight away when we arrived. There was a lovely atmosphere in the pub. Staff were attentive and quick to serve food and drink, but didn’t feel rushed. Food was on point! It was delicious! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to be impressed by a pub meal!

Very rarely do you go into a pub and get such a warm welcome for you and the dog! What a fantastic owner of this establishment who exudes kindness, genuine warmth and 5* hospitality. The food was delicious, well executed and presented with perfectly. I have a readership of 50,000 on trip advisor and if you happen to find yourself close to this little hamlet I’d certainly recommend you drop by. I’m certainly looking forward to sampling their Sunday Roast and visiting again with various friends. Thank you to all of you who made our visit so nice and for the care you took with my anxious boy.

It was fantastic! Amazing service, food and all round atmosphere! We were also especially grateful for them being able to cater for our gluten free needs! We would definitely recommend it to ANYONE looking for a lovely Sunday lunch and will be back again!

Absolutely stunning country boozer

There were 21 of us for a special 40th birthday (ages 8 months-69 years). We had the upstairs function room which was beautiful. The staff were excellent, as was the food - a really great experience.

A New Year's Eve meal with all the family. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, with smiling, efficient staff and each dish coming out perfectly. 5 Stars.

During our short stay in Hernhill we ate here four times, including a get together on the Friday night with old school friends, each time we were made to feel very welcome (including the dog) and the food is excellent. Simon and his team are terrific and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Great local pub with quality food. Portion sizes are not too big but delicious. Great service, staff were friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere, dogs allowed and the decor was truly cosy pub authentic. Would go again, but as a vegetarian they did have limited choice.

I've been to the Red Lion a couple of times over the last few years as its always been a beautiful pub to spend time in. Theres no better building or location for a pub, it's almost perfect. The food has got so much better since the last time I came here about a year ago, which was a little underwhelming to say the least. I had the Haddock pate to start which was delicious, followed by the Duck breast which was even better and cooked perfectly. its was value for money and there's a good selection of beers to choose from, the staff were very attentive and friendly. After speaking to the server I understand theres a new owner and chefs in the kitchen which must be why this place is so much better, I won't be leaving it as long before my next visit.

Very good. We didn't have much time so we only had a burger but the menu looked interesting with vegetarian and vegan options.

Fantastic meal, 14 of us with our bassets, the service was friendly and fantastic, The roast was to die for, The beef was melt in the mouth and those that had the mixed roast had so much tasty meat with delicious crackling! The gravy and cauliflower cheese was delicious! Those that had dessert thoroughly enjoyed them! One of the best roast dinners I've tasted, Would highly recommend, and will definitely be returning

Four of us had Sunday lunch here last week. What a fab meal it was. We all agreed it was probably one of the best pub Sunday lunches we had eaten in a very long time. The flavours and presentation were outstanding. The new owners have taken this village pub to another level. The staff were attentive and polite. Well done, everyone. There aren't many old, local pubs left nowadays. But this one ticks all the boxes! Beautiful interior, fabulous food, and a garden to keep kids entertained for hours!!! Staff are happy to discuss all menu choices, and their childrens portions are very generous. We will definitely be making regular visits!

DISAPPOINTED. Came highly recommended but fell flat. Had homemade focaccia bread with chilli and garlic butter, not a hint of chilli but overwhelmed with garlic. Crispy belly pork bites, absolutely delicious. Cod and chips main course. Both pieces of fish tasted dry, chips were frozen, tarter sauce had a taste of curry. Service was pretty good. Atmosphere was at a premium but to be fair we were the first customers of the evening. All together a little disappointing.

We are staying nearby for the August Bank Holiday weekend and had wanted to eat at this stunning pub for a while, having only had drinks on previous occasions. Yesterday’s lunch was delicious - we both had starters & mains: a classic prawn cocktail, and a yummy Serrano ham & melon salad followed by lamb koftas, and salmon with a basil & limoncello sauce. The service was friendly and the building is just beautifully (13th century). Highly recommended.

We live far enough away that a visit has to be worth it - The Red Lion simply delivers. Every time. This latest visit was in a large group of friends. No complaints. Mains, deserts and beer/wine were good. The setting of the historic inn is beautiful too.

Sunday lunch was perfect. Service as ever, was fantastic. Typical English pub/restaurant, which is getting harder to find. Full of atmosphere and hospitality.

Been three times before but had always booked. Popped in without a booking on the off chance we could have lunch for 3. The waitress straight away welcomed us and gave us a choice of lovely tables, menus brought over and water for our pup. Comfortable chairs and lots of space. Good busy feel to the pub. Our meals were delicious, hot and perfectly cooked. The haddock with Thai noodles was so tasty and really different. Friendly, chatty and kind service throughout the meal… we can’t say enough good things about the staff here. We were even offered a blanket for the pup to lay on. Pub is situated on a pretty village green and the beer garden is huge with children’s play are too. Don’t miss out. We will be back (again).

We discovered the pub from a recommendation while staying in Faversham and must say, could not be a better recommendation. The pub looks like a time portal to a few centuries ago in a great location with an amazing preserved building (of course adapted with modern technology). Great look isn't it all as the team there were great, welcomed us as we entered, knowledgeable service and fantastic food. Walking or riding, this pub is a must visit.

A welcome pit stop when out for a evening stroll, can certainly recommend the Red Lion lager. Only stopped for an hour or so but the atmosphere felt just right. Will certainly return to sample the menu.

After using TripAdvisor for ten years, I finally decided to download the app just to leave a review for the Red Lion. I've been going to the Red Lion for around five years, however, we booked their upstairs room for a birthday meal for 16 people last night and their service, food and all round hospitality was superb.

First time visit, would return. Lovely comfortable interior, plenty of space on admittedly a not very busy Wednesday lunchtime. Charming building from the exterior overlooking the village green and parish church, ‘typically English’ setting one could say. As the headline says, the stand out was the attentive service from 3 charming young women - hats off to you for your care (and no doubt good training). Excellent range of drinks, food good/above average, portions generous- almost over generous!

The service (by a young man) was excellent and he could not have been more attentive. However, our food took 45 minutes to arrive and was unmemorable/ greasy.

We always enjoy eating here. It’s wonderful to have a go-to place where you know you’ll have a good experience. We find meals here to be of great value and a decent portion. The friendly waitresses make you feel welcome and take good care of you. The roast dinner we had during our most recent visit was delicious.

Popped in for lunch recently. Very easy to book online and staff ready for us for when we arrived. Lovely village pub with attentive polite staff. The pub is very clean and tidy with thought given to the soft furnishings. The menu is not extensive (Informed the menu changes regularly.)but enough options to consider and at a price comparable to similar establishments. A 10% service charge for the staff is added and this is made clear - we always support this where the money goes to the staff. Our food arrived in good time, well presented and tasty. The beer garden also looks inviting for a warmer day. In summary - Lovely venue, attentive polite staff and good food. 5*

I went to The Red Lion Friday night it was busy as a Friday guys drinking in bar we went in & got a corner Table spoke to the bar staff & settled in There is a new head chef too We choose: Starters : Prawn Cocktail & beef teriyaki Mains: We both chose Chicken Supreme The starters were very good & we enjoyed them The mains were excellent the chef wrapped streaky bacon round the bubble & squeak very good the chicken was succulent too but the cream sauce was excellent too with all types of mushroom in the sauce the bar staff told me it was the chefs signature dish ! I could tell We both enjoyed our meal & can highly recommend the Pub Sunday Lunch is also very good

A beautiful pub in a lovely spot in the Kentish countryside, and importantly if you're gluten free, you are still WELCOMED! There was a choice of gluten free bottled beers, starters, mains - even a burger with a GF bun, cod made with GF batter (which is not commonly on offer) and a nice desert.

went on Thursday night. was welcomed and shown to our table. service was quick and polite. I had the belly pork skewers for Start which were amazing and super tender and tasty. then for mains had the Korean lamb with broccoli and potatoes... the perfect amount of spice on the veg balanced with a beautiful taste of the lamb. already want to go back and eat it all again!!

Delicious roast beef dinner for me. Catered for gluten free and allowed dogs in too. Many dogs in pub and all so well behaved wouldn't have known most tables had one underneath. Staff so friendly and efficient. Enjoyed and will return. Has lovely big garden which will be fab in summer.

We were a large group (c.20) accommodated upstairs - and even furnished with a big screen for the football. Service was excellent, food received rave reviews (so much of it!), and the atmosphere was lovely. Top marks.

Visited today for roast was very disappointed had the mixed roast at £20 which was a chicken drumstick! One slice of beef and a slice of pork loin which was a bit fatty . The veg and meat were only Luke warm. Won’t be visiting...

Arrived hungry to be met by a totally uninterested barman. Informed us that food didnt start again until 5 pm . It was 4.30 so we decided to wait. He then said oh sorry its 6pm. Dont bother with this pub, theres the Dove nearby....
