Came to the Red Lion whilst staying in a nearby hotel, safe to say the food here was amazing! Generous portions here mean that you never leave the pub hungry! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area for a post-lockdown roast! Shoutout to Sean for the amazing service.

I've been here a few times before and it is always enjoy their vegetarian or fish options. I was greeted warmly by one of their waiters, Armando. He could see I was a bit drenched from the rain so he sat me by their real fire, wow, it is very cosy. Armando recommended the vegan option which was Roasted Lentil Falafelwith Lebanese dressings. It looked and tasted amazing and I would recommend it to anyone, even no veggies.The atmosphere there was just right, not too noisy as I do like to browse their reading material when I am there. This is great even when you go there alone.I feel safe there as a lone diner, and the car park is spacious enough, right on the premises.

Sean is a great waiter so pleasant and friendly food and drinks superb come here most weekends and really enjoy the country pub feel especially the fire

I had the nourish bowl with halloumi and he had the steak. All were beautifully cooked and completely delicious. It was a last minute choice so we were so happy to stumble on this lovely pub. Great atmosphere, good music, attentive staff. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Thank you Armando!

Lovely food tonight, staff super friendly and professional. C19 precautions done well too. Christmas menu’s aplenty or just the normal day menu but nothing we ordered was less than delicious. Armando, our waiter was faultless even bringing our wine we forgot to take with us out to the car park as we were leaving. Thanks guys, keep up the great work. Thanks to the kitchen too.

Had a lovely meal there last week. I had the chicken PANKO-BREADED CHICKEN MILANESE and it was devine! Lots of gorgeous flavours and the chicken gravy was superb!Waiter very friendly. A little on the pricey side but because the meal was lovely it wasn't much of an issue.

We have been warmly welcomed on a busy Sunday, as soon as we got at the table we have been presented with the menu.Service is very professional, friendly and polite. The food is so tasty and fresh, I enjoyed a delicious, juicy and tasty sirloin steak and my fiancee enjoyed a selection of roast meats that were exquisite, only downside was the yorkshire pudding whihc tasted too eggy in our opinon. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxing, we were sat next to a window in the fireplace room on very comfortable armchairs perfectly levelled with the table, such a treat compare to normal chairs in other restaurant. We'll surely come back soon.

Dined in this beautiful country pub, was surprised as is near to slough, can only say from moment arrived, brilliant hosting, even though very busy, calm, professional, explained during these times how service was going to be, beautiful setting, great menu, food and service exemplory, great staff, looking after everyone, nothing to much trouble, will recommend this beautiful country restaurant, and cannot wait to return and see those guy's again, even though so busy, nothing was to much trouble.

Pleased to note the extent of Covid-19 preparedness of the restaurant, this gave us confidence. Food was good, with a more up-market menu, and the service from Dorota, our waitress, was excellent. We will add this to our list of venues to return to - thank you.

We booked an evening meal for a family of 4 and due to the Rushi deal we had to eat at 5pm - this really worked in our favour as the parking was easy, the restaurant was busy but not packed and therefore service was excellent. The menu was top class and despite occasionally fussy kids they loved their meals. The food was cooked really well and following the visit I felt that I should do something I rarely do and write this review.My wife and I both agreed that we wished there was a place like this close to us at home as we would visit very often. We usually have mains only but the puddings here were too good to refuse so had to enjoy them as well.In summary I cannot recommend highly enough, yes some people have had worse experiences as seen here but I have to give them 5/5. If we’re back in the area we will booking another ‘early’ meal.

Was a bit wary after seeing recent negative review but we had a lovely Friday pub lunch here. The service was strong, Covid precautions reassuring and nice ambience. Our food was utterly delicious (rotisserie chicken and a pizza) and I had a wonderful balloon glass gin. Highly recommend for seriously posh pub grub.

Waited 25 minutes for our drinks and food order to be taken. Every table in the restaurant seems to be complaining about a lack of service. Plates left on the table even after the bill has been paid. Clearly under staffed. Food really nice.

On returning to this popular location we enjoyed the standard of the food.Areas to improve, my wife asked for a meal and was only informed that it wasn’t available once the substitute meal was given to her. On questioning the waiter, he informed us that the chef didn’t cook that dish any longer. There were some minor issues with the drinks orders also.

My husband and I went to The Red Lion for Sunday lunch. I ordered the pie and my husband a chicken roast. When the meals came my husband roast was the wrong meat. I started on my main whilst my husband waited for his roast. I had nearly finished my meal by the time my husband food came out. Whilst eating his roast dinner my husband chewed on 2 large pieces of sharp plastic which was in his Yorkshire pudding!!! This immediately suppressed any appetite he had. All he was offered was to take his meal and his drink off the bill. A meal he didn't even eat. Not a nice experience, food or customer service wise and we will not be returning!

Four of us went out for dinner last night. It was so disappointing. We won’t be returning in a hurry.We booked a table for 7pm. We sat in the garden. Shortly after arriving we ordered drinks, starters and mains. We were all hungry and looking forward to our meal. The first lot of drinks arrived fairly promptly but it quickly went down hill.The tiny and very disappointing starters arrived after 45 minutes. We ordered more drinks that took over 30mins to arrive. Eventually at around 845 our main course arrived. The food was ok but not that good. We live close to this pub and keep giving it another go buy we are always disappointed. It’s such a shame.... about four years ago it was really good. We need to try and find out who owns this pub and get it sorted ASAP to avoid other unhappy customers wasting their time and money.

honestly have had the worst possible time at this joke of a pub. literally got there at 7pm ordered drinks, starter and mains waited for 45 minutes for some starters the sticky chicken was dry as anything and had to ask for more sauce and it was still dry!! then asked 3 times about where our mains were and we kept on getting the same response about it being 2 minutes and saying it was the next one out. they never cleared the tables like they were supposed to with empty glasses and bottles, then we got fed up and decided to just get the bill, so when getting the bill they decided to charge full amount for just 4 starters and drinks which come to £70!!! then we had to ask again for them to correct their mistake, knowing it should’ve been discounted because of the way in scheme. honestly the biggest joke ever!!!!

Just had Sunday lunch here for two. Organisation very good - although a bit odd to go from outside to walk inside for one way system - and then to come out again to sit it garden. Excellent meal. Had the pork and chicken roasts. More options than any other pub I've been to in the last few weeks. Husband said the berry crumble was superb and I had sticky toffee pudding which was wonderful. Well done. Will definitely re-visit.

I’m still in this venue as I write this. Having just eaten their succumbing Chicken, Brie and Bacon Pie I can whole heartedly say it was the best pie of my life. Period!

Great place to go for a drink in the sun outside or in especially for a Quick get together with friends, can’t wait to go back again

It's hard to make a place appealing at the moment but the staff here are doing a great job. everyone was attentive and friendly and very reassuring about the social distancing and cleanliness measures they have in place.

This was my first time back out after the lockdown with my friends and im so happy we chose the red lion! The staff were amazingly helpful, safe and very attentive. Food was delicious and it was great to sit out in the garden again. Will definitely be back!

I wanted to start by saying that our issues were nothing to do with the COVID pandemic. We have been here plenty times before (and spent a fortune) and always had issues with slow service (very very slow). We came to the venue as today was supposed to be our second wedding date (both dates cancelled due to Covid). We started off being greeted and shown to our table. We then gave out drinks order, and my fiancé’s gin and lemonade came back a gin and tonic (she hates tonic). We tried to get someone’s attention for at least 10mins before I got up to find someone. We found a very helpful woman who went and made our drink herself, which was perfect. We then ordered our food and more drinks. Again, the drink came back with tonic. Unfortunately the helpful woman who sorted it before wasn’t there. We spoke to someone else who apologised and went to sort the drink. I saw the drink being made and left on the bar for another 10mins (minimum) before I got up and collected it myself..... this drink has tonic... AGAIN. So for the third time, I had to get up and and find someone to speak to as we were pretty much ignored all night. They came over and said that the lemonade had run out on the pump and switched automatically to soda (there’s no way this is possible). By this time, I has finished my drink and my fiancé had to finish hers on her own. When I say the service is slow... it’s very slow.. there were only 5/6 tables all night but people had to keep standing up to find a waiter. This is a short walk from my house and we sat there wondering why we had given this venue so many chances through the years but I think this is the final straw and we will have to find a new place, which is a shame as it’s so nice and great food but like I said, there were 5/6 tables and this shouldn’t really strain the kitchen.

Our first time out after lockdown and trio roast was lovely. Fresh and good size. The people were really kind at accommodating a corner table for my pup too. Good service, very clean, excellent social distancing measures. Above all- food was really nice.

On the 9th March I had dinner at this restaurant as a leaving dinner with a friend before making my move up north and then Covid Happened My post has only just reached me and now it appears I have a parking fine for this place and when speaking to the now debt recovery company as the post redirection has been very very slow due to covid, they now wont let me dispute the charge even though my bank account shows me having been there for dinner - I entered my registration on the I pad when I went in and now the recovery company state no I didn't I cant even call the restaurant as they are closed. I will not return to this restaurant if this is the payback having spent £80.00 on a meal and now a fine of £155 for parking - rip off central

Attended The Red Lion on 13 March for a wake along with other mourners, parked in the car park for about just over an hour whilst we attended the wake, which was pre-booked by the family, yesterday through the post received a parking fine of £85 ! Really ! we never saw any signage (which may be there but not obvious and re the occasion not looking) nor did bar staff mention anything ! I have been here before with friends for dinner and never had problems with parking. I am just stunned and disappointed that I have received this, I have written and appealed and as we are all in the midst of these unprecedented times of the virus I cannot contact the pub itself. Just stunned !

We had a family Wake here today. The Staff, Food and ambience all very good. Staff was busy cleaning and sanitising all the time. We could not fault anything the Staff were lovely nothing wS too much trouble and the food was exceedingly good. In these difficult times and a sad occasion The Red Lion did us proud . Had a great from being warmly welcomed at the door by Alex. He gave us a choice of tables even though we had not booked. The meal, the service and the ambience was faultless throughout.Alex's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu and accompanying wines was impressive.We will certainly return again.

The Red Lion Stoke Poges Is Now My Regular Top Quality Restaurant of Choice to visit. I love the rustic look the staff are very friendly & recognize me when i visit. the menu is extensive & varied & the deserts are amazing.

We visited for a mid week lunch and were looking forward to a pleasant lunchtime meal as we have had here before but unfortunately that was not the case. We ordered drinks and food and all seemed ok, it was after the drinks arrived that the problems started. We only ordered olives to start so not much to prepare but these took 15 minutes to arrive. It was reasonably busy but not packed so we hoped our mains would arrive in good time but they didn’t. It was another 45 minutes before our mains arrived and then one was just hot enough and the other had luke warm potatoes and cold vegetables, we complained and asked for replacements but only got vegetables which were then too hot. To top it all the chicken pie was small dry and had little chicken in it. We preserved and had desserts which were the best part of the meal. From what we overheard others were having long waits for food too. Unfortunately this has put us off from returning especially as the staff although friendly seemed not to realise that there were problems.

Called in while waiting for someone at the hospital and decided to chance having something to eat. Their website doesn't make it clear but this pub prepares and cooks food properly on the premises (I can't stand factory and microwave, so-called food). My partner had a tasty, genuinely home-made soup, and I had a Moroccan-inspired, vegan pie, which was delicious and different. A young barman was helpful with my initial request to guard my beer and hold my food order when I had to pop out to the hospital unexpectedly and the manager later clarified that they don't serve factory food... We will be back!

A lovely pub. A group of us turned up without a reservation on a busy Sunday evening and were lucky to get a table. A roast dinner that was so delicious it was a shame that the dessert menu had to be returned, for now. The staff were very warm and friendly which is a pleasure to see. We booked a table here for a big group of us with ease, we had a lovely table in the restaurant. Service was next to none, the staff here are very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for us! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and I will definitely be back!

We came for Christmas lunch and had a terrible meal. As we preordered our meals for a set time of 3pm we were looking forward to a lovely Christmas meal.

A group of us from work have had a few good meals here and the service is good too however it is sometimes a nightmare trying to find a parking place so we will try somewhere else.

I was here earlier this week for lunch.

The service was absolutely awful. We waited half an hour for drinks, 1 hour and 18 mins for our main meals, no apology for the wait. Our meals came out wrong! They took ages to correct this! They then tried to charge us for the wrong meals that came out!!! They did correct the bill in the end but this in itself took a while!

We had Sunday lunch here last weekend,what a lovely restaurant,couldn’t fault the food,and the waiter that served us was an absolute credit to the restaurant,nothing was to much for him and he had a smile for everyone that came through the door,will definitely be back.lovely lovely place.

Went to the Red Lion for a wake just a few drinks. At no point was it highlighted that there was a car registering system. An upsetting time made worse by a fine I received this morning. I hope the family were ok.

We were staying at Stoke Place and ate here one evening for a change of scene. It was packed to the gunnels but the staff found us a table tucked away and we were soon enjoying the fabulous food. Everything was well done: service, food and drinks. We met some friendly locals after moving from our dining table to comfy chairs by the fire. A wonderful local.

It was my first time dining here and would definitely return. I had a lovely nut roast with all all the trimmings. The drinks were served to perfection! Our lovely server Armando was very attentive and all the staff were very friendly. This is a perfect pub for the summer as you can sit outside on comfortable chairs. The interior is very cosy and just perfect for the winter months See you soon!!!

We stumbled across this pub one Saturday afternoon whilst we were in the area. We sat outside as it was a lovely summers day though from what we saw of the Inside, it was very well decorated and had a lovely dining room.

Used to be a great pub to catch up with friends and work colleagues, not anymore. Takes an eternity to get served and when you do the beer iS HIT and miss. Huge parking fines given if you forget to register your vehicle on arrival. Really gone down hill quickly. Avoid.

Much better service than previous times. Food was great, again no issues this time round. I will definitely be coming back now that you have won me over. Such a great place to have drinks and chill

This was my first visit to The Red Lion and I was so very impressed. We booked a table for 7 for a birthday meal. The staff were very attentive and did an excellent job throughout the night, including bringing out a cake and candles that I brought along, advising us on the dishes, and always keeping our glasses topped up.

We were 2 adults and 3 children having lunch at this delightful gem of a gastro-pub. A really great menu on offer, there were options for every palate and need (inc vegan, paleo etc). We particularly loved the baked lobster & crab starter and the huge serving of fish & chips. Staff were all super friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially as we lost track of time and needed to have our remaining food packed up quickly to go. They even threw in some extra little desserts to go for our kids. Awesome gastro-pub. I just wish the weather had been better as I imagine this is a delightful place to eat on the outdoor terrace. Will visit again.

Booked the red lion for sunday lunch for my birthday, the food was amazing and the service was even better. My sister had put on our booking that it was my birthday and the staff surprised me with a dessert with a candle! Had a lovely time with my family and we will all be back! Thanks again!

I recommended my Sister who was over from Oz to book here with her friend.Table booked for 7pm.Food never arrived.Asked how much longer? 5 mins was the reply.At 8.30 the food arrived and was lovely,dessert arrived at 9.45. They were told they would have their bill reduced to compensate,never happened,will never recommend the Red Lion again and thats a shame.

The Red Lion is a gem I was staying at Stoke park Wanted to eat out rather than eat everyday at Stoke park they recommended the Red Lion Good choice Squid ,Rack of Lamb , chocolate bomb Delicious !!!!

Awful service, Adam the stand-in manager refused to serve my friends and I food, using an excuse that they had a chef that was off sick and they were packed, when clearly the tables in the restaurant and the bar were very empty. Adam then said "you can go somewhere else". I felt the pub had served every person of a white colour bar us, felt it was more of a racial attack rather than anything else.

Booked my mother’s 90th birthday at The Red Lion

Picked a pub for my father's birthday on Monday 5th August, choose this venue based on their gluten free and vegan menus which some of my family are. Ordered starters and mains and food for three children. The so called manager on shift came out to us after we finished our starters to say a dish in their allergy book and in their website as gluten free actually wasn't gluten free. He was kind enough to tell us that the ingredient list showed the lamb koftas actually had gluten in them, he showed us the ingredients list. By this point it was too late to change the main meal so my sister only had her side of chips for dinner. We asked the manager to give us the ingredient list back so that we could raise the issue with their head office/ manager as the manager on shift wasn't able to deal with the problem or realised how serious it was. However he felt that he would lose his job if he provided us with the information rather then help save another customer from having an allergic reaction or worse.

Went here tonight for a meal during the weekday (Monday) everything was going ok, until......my wife ordered Lamb Kofta and salad (Gluten Free dish as per their website, which is why we came in the 1st place) for her main dish. After our starters my wife was told that the Lamb Kofta dish had gluten in the dish and can not serve her with this. We expressed our feelings and showed them the website spacificly states "Gluten Free" for this dish. No one even spoke to my wife about other options, just gave her a 20 page allergy book and said choose what you want. The "Acting manager" of the night bought out the packaging for the Kofta which said had Gluten in it. Up to this point the staff had actually helped by advising us of the Gluten and saved my wife a night of pain from the gluten. We explained that we will be taking the false advertisement to HQ and it was not the staff's fault but the acting manager said he can not give us the details as his job would be on the line and that his job was more important then someone having gluten..........and that's where it went all down hill.

Visited the red lion in the past but the other evening was amazing. Food was incredible and the service was great, me and the whole family will definitely be back!

Visited this restaurant around 6 weeks ago , my wife ordered a starter and i had olives , so pretty normal and they were ok . The trouble started when the fillet steak i had ordered arrived , firstly i was shocked at the size , it was tiny but hey ho a meal with good flavour is a good meal . I cut into the steak and immediately i was hit with an awful smell , the meat was absolutely rotten , really bad .

Beautiful elegant dare I say pub type establishment, but it’s soo much more. It has an elegant pub side and a delightful restaurant side. Outside seating also available. Excellent quality drinks food and value. Great staff make you feel at home.

We went for Sunday lunch and whilst the pub wasn’t that busy it did take a long time to get our food. When it did arrive it was great and the waiter was very attentive (even though he seemed to be pretty much on his own). The kids food came out with the starters so at least they weren’t climbing the walls. The pub has recently had a rerurb and I would say its worth a visit.

Visited this pub before it was under the current ownership so thought we'd go again as it was previously good, its owned by Mitchells and Butlers now... can't fault the decor and presentation of the pub, it has been well looked after.

We were clearly waiting for an hour with two young children - could the kids running this joint give a damn - frankly no? The food is mediocre and country pub my foot. Used to be such a lovely go to destination now it genuinely sucks.
