The Red Cow in Rhondda Cynon Taf

I have visited this pub many times midweek and for Sunday lunch, the food is always amazing and good sized portions. Excellent value for money. It can be difficult to get the attention of staff when trying to get served at the bar due to some customers sitting here. I understand why customers sit there, but on a packed weekend I think they should be asked to keep the bar area clear given it’s only small. However this certainly won’t put me off returning.

We stayed in Cwmbach and decided to go for a walk along the old railway line. We decided to visit The Red Cow for a drink and something to eat. They were holding a private function and were very busy, but still managed to fit us in. The meal was excellent and the staff lovely and friendly. The pub is also dog friendly.

Have visited this lovely bar/restaurant on a few occasions lately and every meal has been great. We have tried the gammon, steak pie, curry, and lamb. Steak pie is the best I’ve ever had. Real homemade chips too which is always a bonus.

Just returned from an epic meal here! The chicken curry is to die for! Beautifully presented too with plenty of accompanying sides. This has to be the best place to eat on Aberdare, no arguments!

Visited the Red Cow with my family for Sunday Lunch to celebrate my nephew’s confirmation… the lunch was absolutely delicious with plenty provided and the service was fantastic .. 100% recommended

We stopped for lunch, the pub was busy with a friendly atmosphere,clean bright and well looked after. We got drinks and the food menu, we were warned that they were busy and there would be a delay with the food. There was a slight delay but nothing more than other eateries and the pre warning was great to manage our expectations. The food was amazing 10/10, hot, a good serving size and fantastic quality. In short The Red Cow staff both front of house and behind the scenes did an outstanding job I would return again when in the area.

A party of 3 of us had a wonderful lunch. We had gammon, pork ribs and the curry followed by lemon cheesecake. The portions were generous, well presented and full of flavor. We were fortunate to say a thank you to the chef who was immaculate. I highly recommend the restaurant where the staff were attentive and friendly. We will certainly be visiting again.

First visit here, but definitely won't be my last. Visited with family for my brother in laws retirement. Excellent first impressions, lovely friendly sociable pub in the heart of the village of Llwcoed. Modern comfortable lounge area at front of house and serving excellent selection of beers, ales etc and large Tvs showing sport on a Saturday afternoon. Friendly helpful staff throughout providing a first class service. Beautiful restaurant at rear serving a good selection of quality food, plentiful choice. No complaints from any of our party of ten. Would recommend, first class.

I booked a table for two in the restaurant part of the red cow. I didn't get to try the food ( which might have been great). The reason being after walking through the pub area to be taken to the restaurant part by a waiter I took a couple of steps on to the wood floor which was so slippery I had a nasty fall and hurt my leg. A lady came out I don't know if she was a waitress or manager and asked if I was OK. I was visibly upset because of the pain and the embarrassment. She looked at my shoes which are 3 inch stilettos that I have zero issues walking in and said. " stilettos can be tricky on this floor ".....it was nothing to do with my shoes or my ability to walk in them. I fell because for whatever reason that floor was like an ice rink!!.. The food might be great I have no idea. I do not appreciate being made to feel like it was my own fault because of my footwear.

Absolutely delicious food, the lamb is cooked to perfection, burger and lasagne also amazing and the beer is great. And the staff are so friendly and couldn't be more helpful. 100% recommend this pub

My first time here. It really is a hidden gem. The food was AMAZING!! Tasty, well presented, and hefty portions at a good price. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and rightly proud of their establishment. I’d definitely come again, and really recommend it. The chips were AMAZING!!

excellent Sunday lunch today, including vegetarian nut roast with veggie gravy. Only ever eaten/dined there in the evening, which has always been top notch. The Red Cow was used as a post funeral venue for my mother’s funeral. The provided refreshments were of the highest quality, coupled with extremely warm and generous Service. We would strongly recommend the Red Cow for anyone requiring an event of this sort

We had been here for Sunday lunch in December 2018, and was bitterly disappointed, but we were told that new people were taking over in the new year, and the new people had an excellent reputation.We went back for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. It was nice enough, no starter option, choice of 3 meats, good amount of veg and gravy.For me and my husband the meat was very overdone, and the veg was also more cooked than we like, but I guess that is personal preference. We are yet to find anywhere in Aberdare that doesn't overcook the meat,We asked if we could see the dessert menu but it never arrived, so I can't comment on these.Overall, it was okay, but I think I would rather cook Sunday lunch at home.

Phoned last minute on off chance for 2 takeaway lunches. Were told to bring our own plates and container for gravy. One pork and one vegetable only. Food was honestly the best we have had. We quite often have a takeaway lunch on Sunday but this was definitely the best. Potatoes,roast and boiled,cabbage,peas,carrots,cauli,parsnips yorkshire pudding and stuffing. All the veg was fresh. As was the gravy.

Went on a Thursday, early evening. Lovely atmosphere as always and could not fault our meals at all, plentiful and tasty. Nothing is too much trouble for the chef, bar and restaurant staff. Would definitely recommend.

This is our local pub and closest place to have a lovely meal. Every time I eat here it is outstanding, delicious food, good choices. The bar has a range of drink to choose from too. Me and my fiancé has a lovely meal this week, I had the hunters chicken which I had never tried there before, it was the nicest Hunters chicken I have ever had, the sauce wasn’t over powering and the sautéed potatoes were lovely! We ate in the bar which was lovely and cosy. I often come here for large family meals and we are never disappointed!

Amazing steak. Had the ribeye and was cooked to perfection. It was far tastier than M&C; and the red wine jus dipping sauce was incredible. All of our meals where really good and well presented. Have been going here for a few years now and will continue to do so.

Fantastic vegetarian meal! I’ve been a vege all my life, so when I eat out and get a good one it deserves a big thumbs up. The food was delicious 👍😊 and staff very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you’re over this way.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting and dining at The Red Cow for a birthday party.

Attended with a party of 30 people for an evening meal. Service was excellent with all food coming out quickly. The presentation of all courses was excellent and the quality of the food was exceptional. I would definitely visit again

Visited an old haunt today in my home village of Llwydcoed . The atmosphere was great when we walked in . The interior is light and airey. Tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean . The service was excellent and the food really good and good value for money . I had the cheesecake dessert which was exceedingly good . Will definitely visit again .

Had a great lunch with our friends here, chicken curry was fab, but the 5stars goes to the blueberry cheesecake, I always have cheesecake for my sweet and this was by far the best yet and plenty of cream to pour over, it was melt in the mouth, I nearly ordered another one, the service is really good, and we will definatly be going again, how nice to have a really good meal after so many disappointing ones in and around this area.

After seeing a lot of the local pubs in Aberdare either closing down or failing due of lack of custom, it's great to see the Red Cow flourishing. It has fast become one of our favourite local pubs. It has a great selection of drinks, it attracts a good crowd of people, the staff are friendly, it's clean and the decor looks good.

We were a party of six friends out for lunch we thought we would give it a try We were not disappointed We had cod --one had scampi -one had a beautiful ham salad and I had chicken curry which was delicious The staff were amazing and we felt very welcome We are definitely going again Lovely ambiance Best wishes to all Its going to be a great business !!

Cracking Sunday dinner. The beef was melt in the mouth . The turkey looked quality as well .deserts are huge.

Popped into the pub having pre booked a double birthday meal for 7, lovely friendly greeting, as normal, lovely interior to the pub, straight to table and order taken promptly, food was just gorgeous and plenty of it too. Always pleased both with the service and the meals, great selection of beers etc too and not overpriced either. Really enjoyed the evening as did our friends who had never been before.

Visited here for the first time for Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. The meat melted in the mouth and the vegetables were so tasty. In my opinion the gravy could be thicker but other than that it was delicious. The desserts we ordered ( lemon tart and chocolate brownies) were yummy too. Definitely recommend and definitely come back again

Had Sunday lunch here. There was a choice of three meats ... beef, turkey or pork. There was no choice about everything else! This was not a negative... my plate came loaded up with mashed and roast potatoes and a selection of vegetables. It was a good Sunday lunch and great value. The bar was well stocked .... the staff helpful .... the surroundings quaint .... well satisfied!!!

The food here was amazing. Well presented and excellent value for money. Can recommend the rack of bbq ribs or the gammom and desert of chocolate brownie with ice cream was the best i've ever tasted. Service was brilliant both in the restaurant and behind the bar. Will be returning soon

We've been driving past here for the past 20+ years and cannot believe that we didn't know what a little diamond this place actually is!

I was booked in for 7.45 tonight 15/6/18 the starters was great size and very tasty. My eyes were bigger than my belly as im normally a big eater i had a steak and chips it was the business filling and tasty. Real home made food. Id highly reccomend a visit here if your passing. Staff couldn do enough for us. Prices were relativly cheap 52 quid for 2 drinks two starters 2 mains and a side. I will be making an apparence very soon again. Just an idea if you done nhs discount i think youd get alot more custom too ;)

We booked a table at the Red Cow for sunday lunch, we had a quiet drink in the bar before our lunch, the bar area was very nice and clean, seating was very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we had a table in the restaurant which was also very nice, I had a starter of chicken with sweet chilly sauce, for mains we had 1, beef and 2 pork dinners everything was very nice and tasty, no complaints everyone enjoyed,

3rd March, my birthday stuck where to go in the snow, luckily the Red cow is literally at the bottom of my garden, lol, although busy they managed to fit 5 of us in for a meal. Lovely atmosphere, small but lovely restaurant, nice friendly staff. Food was amazing, right from starter to mains and desserts, good supply of local ales and other beverages too,lol, a great evening .Booking is rather essential as it is so popular and once you have eaten there, you will see why.

The Food here is lovely, i have had many many meals here over the years and have never been disappointed, the chips are home cut & tasty, the stickytoffee pudding is stunning, my Faveorate every time i go there.

I may be a little biased lol but this pub is actually at the bottom of my garden, I do not visit it often but booked the family of 8 in for a birthday meal, for the missus, it was gorgeous, food was plentiful and well cooked and presented, great selection of beers and real ales etc too, lovely decor and nice and warm inside too. Nothing was too much trouble to be fair, even though they were very busy. A great job and well worth a visit but...book beforehand.

We recently enjoyed Sunday lunch here. We didn't have starters to keep some room for dessert. For the main course we both chose turkey which was delicious and served with a good variety of vegetables. I had been told that the sticky toffee pudding was exceptional and we weren't disappointed! We are returning with friends next week for an evening meal (and another helping of the sticky toffee pudding!)

Visited here for an evening mid week supper with friends. Clean environment with friendly and helpful staff. We visited especially to eat based on many recommendations. The menu was varied, typical pub meals seared. Portion size is very generous. Presentation of all our meals was a feast to the eyes and the taste and flavours did not disappoint... Excellent value and fabulous meals ... We will be returning .

We've visited here twice now in the last could of months we'll definitely be going back. Great little village pub with fantastic food. The chefs attention to detail is second to none in the area, his batter on things like the onion rings and the starters is so light and tasty with a superb crunch, mains are cooked to perfection and the desserts are to die for and HUGE!!!! As I've already said we're definitely going back soon.

I have visited this Pub twice in the last six months with family. Last time the service was a little slow but food very nice, however on both occasions we have been sitted in the conservatory which both myself and my family found to be cold, it wasn't just us the family behind us ended up putting their jackets on.I wouldn't like to think what it would be like on a cold winter's day. Please get some heat in there.

This is a good local pub with great food. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. There's parking and a small beer garden too

Although I've visited the pub, occasionally, for a drink before, this is the first time I've eaten there. Menu provided enough choice without being overblown. Four of us in total which translated to 3 x starters (including a 'wild mushroom' dish which actually included varieties of mushroom other than your 'usual' suspect), 4 x mains (including 2 x 10 oz rib-eyes cooked to perfection and 2 x ribs - plenty of fries by the way, not the three or four chips you often get in a pot these days), 2 x desserts and a bottle of red. Bill came to about £100, which I think was well worth it. Portions were very good. Quality was excellent. The restaurant area is very pleasant and service was excellent. Apparently it was the first night for the waitress who served us - she was brilliant! We will eat there again and, based on yesterday's experience, I would thoroughly recommend this pub/ restaurant. Oh, Peronni £4 a pint. Probably the cheapest in the valley!
