My partner and I celebrated his birthday with a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. It was a great experience from start to finish. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was amazing with mod cons in a sympathetically restored building. Fresh fruit was provided along with a generous selection of beverages. Dinner and breakfast were wholesome and tasty and excellent value. I just hope my partner rebooks for my birthday!

We had dinner in the garden during the Eat Out To Help Out scheme, on the recommendation of a friend. The social distancing inside the pub left a lot to be desired, as the bar is a pinchpoint that you can't avoid. There was no screen up and the staff didn't wear visors. Outside was fine, with the tables spaced far enough apart. We had burgers (Red Cow and chicken) which were good, and the brownie and sticky toffee desserts were fine.

We’ve been visiting the Red Cow for several years. The food is good and it’s a lovely venue. A real village pub with its own small deli and bags of atmosphere. But...prices seem to have zoomed up (£15.50 for a burger) and service was painfully slow and unenthusiastic - even with just thee covers eating. Overall still a good bet for an evening out but allow plenty of time and expect mid-range restaurant prices for good pub food.

The Red Cow provides some of the best pub food in the area and it was great to be able to experience it after so many weeks of lockdown. After all the shenanigans of Covid19 and the Rishi dishy deal, this was the first "new normal" meal out for the four of us and the quality was great. The friendly staff worked hard to ensure out eating out experience was a good one.My smoked duck salad starter was very good, although it could have taken a few more greens. My smoked pork burger special was super, very tasty and mega filling. It wasn't the cheapest meal but the ingredients were top notch. There were only a couple of other tables occupied on this Tuesday night which affected the ambience a bit. But overall, it was nice to get back to going out a bit more normally.

We stayed at the Red Cow for 4 days during our summer 2020 Staycation walking and cycling in Cambridgeshire. It is an excellent pub with rooms of an extremely high standard and great friendly staff and owners. The Manager Amelie was delightful and couldn't be more helpful. The English Breakfast was outstanding with the locally sourced sausages and the Ducks eggs the highlightsDinner was really good pub fare, burgers etc.The ambience of the pub was lovely with the seated area at the front pleasant and busy and despite Covid everything worked out really well, the staff took it seriously with table service and plenty of hand sanitisers but were pragmatic enough to make it work. All in all I would really recommend the Red Cow as high class pub accommodation in a beautiful part of the world.

We had lunch at The Red Cow yesterday and it was just fabulous. We sat outside as the day was lovely (albeit a little windy!) and all that you could see were smiling, happy faces and the sound of laughter. We received a very friendly welcome as we got there from the lovely owners and were seated immediately. The staff were very friendly and helpful despite being run off their feet as they were so busy. All of the tables were very well spaced and they have turned two of their (gorgeous) rooms that they let out into toilets for their customers - felt very spoilt just going to the loo !The food was absolutely delicious. I had stunning oysters (some of the best that I have ever had) followed by Moules Frites (again - simply delicious) and my wife had the most gorgeous smoked duck to start (thankfully I got to try some) and a beautiful Mediterranean Chicken dish which she polished off very promptly indeed ! All wrapped up with some very lovely Chablis (I can highly recommend it if you go).It really was the most lovely day out for us having been in lockdown like everyone else. This is the first time that we have ventured out since restrictions were eased and I am so glad that it was to The Red Cow - it genuinely could not have been any better. Just can't wait to go back again !

We called in for a light lunch and pint after a morning's walk in the country. The pub is located in a rural village, the exterior is pleasing on the eye and it has an ample car park. Inside it is nicely furnished, with one room being used as a dining area and another the bar. Staff members were welcoming and friendly. The pub offers a small range of real ales on tap, certainly enough choice to suit our needs, in additional to a wide range of other drinks. We each chose a filled ciabatta to eat from a good choice. They were served with a small side salad and a small portion of chips. The food was hot when served, nicely presented and tasty to eat.Our lunch was enjoyable. The bill for what we ate and drank was a pound or two more than we typically pay elsewhere for similar choices, but this is probably a product of its location. Despite this we still received value for money and this is a venue we are likely to use again when next walking in this vicinity.

The breakfast was at 07.30 and the nice lady manager (sorry for not remembering your name) opened up early for me on both days so I could get away early, that’s what you call customer service Situated in a very quiet village with thatched cottages, the locals in the evening were very friendly and made me feel welcome. This might turn out to be my new haunt whilst working in the area.A1 would 100% recommend this to anyone can’t wait to return.

This is a popular village pub that can get crowded. It's known for its pies and reasonable pub food. Burgers are generous and tasty, but at around £14 per dish, this is not a cheap option. Apart from pies and burgers, there are some more fancy choices. There is a good choice of beer that's well kept, and service is excellent. For me, the onion rings are indicative of the place - looks good, lots of batter, little content. So overall an average experience.

Two of us visited for Sunday lunch after reading the menu on the pub's website. I had the beef and my husband the roast lamb. The whole meal was presented already on the plate, nothing served on the side, not even the gravy. The meat was tasteless and chewy, the roast potatoes were not freshly cooked, re-heated and tough and the whole plate was swimming in a lot of gravy. The website clearly states crispy roast potatoes and roasted roots. No roasted roots came with our meals, just two small roast potatoes. The meat looked like catering meat - ready rolled sheets of meat. All-in-all rather tasteless. However, it was not expensive and the pub was busy with families, dogs and walkers enjoying themselves - it had a good atmosphere and seems to be a much loved village pub.

A post Christmas family gathering, 12 for lunch, but sadly the food was such a let down. Roast dinner, swimming in a bowl of lukewarm gravy, raw and obviously very soggy roast potatoes, meat dry and over cooked. My starter was forgotten, it arrived as others were finishing theirs. Hot scalding tea spilt on the legs of one of our party. Very slow service, but has to be said served with a smile, apart from when I asked for a dry sherry, and then I had the audacity to ask for a cube of ice, this was served with a scowl. I wasn’t in charge of paying the bill, and one doesn’t like to cause a fuss when it is only twice a year that the majority of the family are able to get together, but I would have questioned paying the service charge.....

We were with friends and happy to take our time and they obviously thought the (new) chef was being slow and kept apologising, trying to make sure we were happy. Mushroom starter was nice. The cauliflower fritters eaten by Mrs R and our friends also nice, if a bit meagre. We then had sausages and mash with onion gravy and veg and it was delicious. The one negative was a poor wine list. They need a few more classier wines on it. We had one nice bottle of Rioja only to be told that was the last bottle. £160 for 4 incl 2 bottles of okay wine. We will return.

We enjoyed some prosecco when we arrived and the staff were very attentive topping up our glasses but without intruding on our meal. The food was delicious and generous portions. The apple crumble was scrummy. We left hardly able to move! We stayed until close but didnt feel pressured at all to leave. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good food and drink in a lovely cosy country pub location.

Myself and my partner have been here a few times and twice in the last month. We both sat there on Friday saying what a beautiful place it was and realised I hadn't done a review for it. The food is always out of this word, whatever we order it's always done perfectly and the merlot is the nicest wine I've had for some time! The staff are always so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere overall is welcoming, friendly and relaxed. Well worth a visit :)

We were a little party of 7; grown ups, kids and dogs taking a walk over the fields on a gorgeous winter afternoon. We stopped off at this picturesque pub for a quick bite and a pint and couldn't have felt more welcome. We were fortunate to be sat around their open fire and the kids and dogs loved the warmth. A lovely afternoon. Thank you.

We have been here before so I knew we were in for a treat. The menu covers every thing that a person may want, from a light healthy salad to home made pies and mash. I had the pork belly, which was the nicest I have ever had. My husband had the beautifully cooked lambs liver and bacon. The vegetables were a lovely mix with an amazing flavour and just the right crunch. Just make sure you leave room for pudding! Restaurant quality food at pub grub prices.

Visited recently to try their tapas night (each Thursday). We usually avoid tapas menus or dedicated tapas restaurants because we are always disappointed (even in Spain!) but as we have always had fantastic meals at The Red Cow decided to give their tapas night a try. I shouldn't have been in any doubt that what we would recieve would be nothing short of excellent. They have 9 different tapas dishes on the menu and as there were 3 of us we simply ordered 1 of evertyhing (and doubled up on 1). Everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. We'll definitely do this again - it was great value. As always the service was great - friendly and efficient. This pub makes you feel like you have gone back in time to a more pleasant, relaxed and easy-going time - if we have visitors from outside of the area we always take them here. Always enjoy our visit and always look forward to the next time.

We visited on a wet cold day and were pleased to be welcomed by a roaring fire and very comfortable leather seats/sofas in the bar area. It was our first visit for many years so we made the mistake of ordering the sharing platter as well as fish & chips as the portions are very large and the sharing platter of meats, terrine, salad and chutneys would have been more than enough. The fish & chips were very good but we were too full to do it justice. The chef has a good reputation and the bar staff were very helpful. The only down side for me was the music which was far too loud. It was good that they had music playing as it was a fairly quiet day with not many customers but it would have been better had it not been so intrusive. We shall definitely return.

What a lovely pub with amazing food. I visited the Red Cow with my parents after hearing glowing reviews of their food from them and will definitely be returning. I had the seafood tagliatelle, which was exquisite and look forward to trying one of their pies next time.

This was our second visit to the Red Cow. We enjoyed the beetroot 'risotto of the day' and a chicken pie on our first visit, so felt we should return as we enjoyed the food. The pub was busy as it was Saturday night, but once a staff member was available we were shown straight to our table. We had the soup of the day ( tomato and herb) and the risotto ( chicken and mushroom), we had ordered two pies for the main, but then were subsequently told there were none left so went for the burger and vegetable lasange instead. The food was generally really good and tasty, the only niggle was the 'dough balls' that accompanied the lasange which were completely inedible. For desert I had the crumble of the day, which was apple and berry and was delicious. The service was ok on whole, a few small niggles, having to keep checking back on what we'd ordered, changing our order once placed and not bringing water with ice and lemon as offered. Nothing disastrous and the girls worked hard and were really friendly, but there were clear areas for improvement. On the whole the food there is delicious and staff friendly and polite. It was a very pleasant evening in a lovely village pub.

Apparently everyone who wanted to eat at the Red Cow wanted to do so at 19:00 this Saturday night. Despite this, the staff were polite and didn't make us feel hurried at all. Special thanks must go to the waitress who was smiley and helpful throughout. Good variety on the menu, and on the specials board; something for everyone using a local butcher from whom we buy our own meat so knew it was top quality. I could have eaten everything from the starters list but sadly my friends have more of a sweet tooth so had to settle for a main. I opted for liver and bacon pie which was delicious and clearly home made. Came with herby mash and veg, all of which were very tasty. My friends had pulled ham egg and chips and rib eye steak respectively and declared themselves equally delighted. For pudding one opted for apple crumble and the other for lemon posset and thoroughly enjoyed both. Despite having one eye on sticky toffee pud, I couldn't do it justice so ended up with a scoop of locally made vanilla ice cream. Yum. Don't know what the bill was but my friend who was paying thought it would be much more than it was and very reasonable. Think I've found my new favourite place to eat out. Thank you and see you soon

This is such a lovely pub. We visited on a busy night to find an open log fire burning and candles in the windows. The menu was very varied but retaining traditional pub food as well. Our food was excellent and our young waiter was also excellent in the service he provided.

At a loose end on Saturday night, rang on the off chance they would have a free table, which they did! I love this place. The atmosphere of a local pub with really great food. I have a simply fantastic beef and venison bourguignon and my wife pie of the day. The pastry on the pie was so delicious my wife asked for the recipe (which was provided, carefully written out for her). A great meal in a great little pub. The only thing that marred the visit (and this is in no way the fault of the pub) was the very loud and boorish shooting party having their post shoot dinner. They should learn to behave like gentlemen, not drunken oafs. BTW, I shoot myself, so I'm not having a pop at shooting!

We called into the Red Cow for Sunday lunch, on way to visit elderly parent. We thought we had been to this pub before - hence we booked a table. On arrival we soon realised we hadn't been before - it wasn't a problem at all in fact it was a real find - a real oldie worldy pub with beams, roaring fire and great welcome. The Sunday Lunch was fabulous, I had lamb, my husband chose pork both were beautifully presented and the quality was top notch! So all in all it was serendipity at work - it was clearly meant to be, and we shall return on our next visit to the elderly parent.

We were recommended this pub by my hairdresser. We walked in the pub to find an open fire and a nice welcome. The food is soooo goooood! We had such a lovely lunch. The sharing platter dessert was enough for more than two people and so many desserts all of which were just utterly delicious. I chose the toad in the hole with red wine gravy and it was just such a beautifully flavoured dish, didn't want it to end. My husband said his burger and chips were amazing. The pub is quaint with little lead criss cross windows and oak beams. Very cosy and relaxing. Definitely our new favourite pub. You must visit!!!
