Visited on a quiet Wednesday night. Food was top quality. Staff were really friendly and one was hilarious. Really nice night. Will visit again

Just been for family meal with 6 of us. Food was ordered and served pretty quickly, considering they were very busy. Every meal came cooked to perfection and really hot. Steak was amazing, and so were the onion rings proper home made. Really pleasant, helpful staff and great service.

Great little pub. Spacious, nicely decorated, great food, lovely staff, dog friendly. I ordered a fishfinger sandwich - even the garnish was delicious fresh salad and with home made pitta chips on the side, a really nice touch.

This place has always been inviting, lovely atmosphere, the decor is quirky, and the staff are friendly, has a carpark and is right by the Welshpool and Llanfair Light railway station, it has tables and chairs outside, and it has a brook running past to carpark, the food is always delicious, has a varied menu, I had curry of the day with 1/2 and 1/2 (chips & Rice) and followed by a dessert of Tiramisu (pictured), would highly recommend a visit to this busy place, well worth it.

On a business trip in Wales and drove by this lovely looking pub. What a great find, a great atmosphere and what friendly staff. Did not sell matches, but happy to offer me a free lighter, I’ll definitely be back 💯👍🏼

We came and ordered at 16 and we eat on 20.25 The food was tasty but they forgot our order ... Our friends done eating and wait for us for another hour. There are plenty of parking spaces and the atmosphere is nice.

Lovely looking modern venue, all staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was priced about normal for a modern pub of this quality and had a good selection.

A lovely clean pub. Staff were polite and helpfull. Ordered Sunday lunch which arrived fairly quick. The beef tasteless and rubbery. The pork was better.great yorkshire pudding. The beef was on top of some sort of mustard type sauce. I hate mustard. The food was lukewarm with no taste. Disappointed because heard so much about this place. Dinner tastes better when hot.

Good lunchtime visit. Service was very helpful and friendly. A selection of cask ales along with the usual keg pumps. The daily special was beef and ale pie which was excellent - an individual pie full of beef - not the usual pie dish with a lid on it!

Food was very poor, the meat in the pies was chewy and not edible, fish was limp & chips were undercooked and hard. It all lacked any flavour - we mentioned to the staff and they said they can’t do anything about it, so really didn’t care that the food was poor. We left leaving mostly in eaten meals. I’d suggest going elsewhere and avoiding.

Had an absolutely delicious meal at a works Xmas party last weekend. Very impressed with the food and the service was great considering there was around 50 people to serve. We will be back!

We stopped on Sunday evening & had a lovely welcome. The food was lovely & will be returning. So cosy with log burners also....could of stopped a lot longer if we were not driving :)

Always a warm welcome. A absolutely great place to go especially if you have dogs. We called in for a quick tasty meal and the service was quick and meal was piping hot & tasty. The atmosphere is lovely. Log fire going and lots of friendly people. So glad your on our doorstep!

Came tonight 6/1/2024 for a family meal table of 13. Waiter who took our order was superb we t out of his way to nsur we ha everything we needed. Food well what can I say but absolutely beautiful from BLT to steaks everything was cooked perfect . Our 1st visit here definitely NOT our last.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home from stopping in North Wales. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We ordered faggots and a chicken dish. Wow! The food was absolutely amazing. Such a lovely place and was pretty busy, so obviously popular.

Food was superb, good choice of ales. Note that it is not table service, you need to order at the bar, which can be fun if you're in a large group, but don't let that put you off. Will be back.

Party of 10 of us, all food was fantastic and reasonably priced. The beef brisket was amazing and so much food I couldn’t manage a 3rd course. Everybody friendly despite being a busy Saturday pm. If we are ever in the area again we will come back.

Went for a christmas meal, not badly priced and nice layout. Bit odd ordering at the bar in a restaurant setting, bit like weatherspoons.

We were sat in a corner by the noisy kitchen despite the pub being virtually empty-.The staff who brought the food out was lovely that’s the only positive about our experience. Food was awful-we left most of it .We’re visitors to the area and we were really looking forward to a lovely Christmas Eve dinner .Terrible

Brilliant pub! Steak and ale pie is the best one I have ever had

Had one of the best meals ever at the Raven, we had the steak and ale pie (still drooling) it was devine. Everything was fresh and hot, best pasty ever, well done to the maker. Finished off with apple crumble and custard, just perfect. To be honest i could easily have bathed in that custard. Set the bar way to high for the rest of the UK. good value as well

Haven't visited here for 30 + years. Had a Christmas 🤶 lunch. Really good food and service was very good 👍😁

Meals for four. Very slow service, we were warned on the menu that the pie takes 20minutes…. However the two burgers also ordered were then cold. Chef needs to sort out timings for everybody on the same table. Too many young staff doing very little, only one young man seemed to be on the ball. The manageress (the only mature staff) got things all wrong and forgot our drinks. Nice decor but staff not up to handling the quantity of diners.

Lovely Sunday lunch for a large party including 5 children. Very busy so service a bit slow, but lovely atmosphere and generous helpings!

we called at The Raven on our way home from Coed y dinas not having booked we thought we would just try it as we had been here before, the lady behind the bar was very polite and said we could sit anywhere that wasnt reserved, we ordered our meals and they came pretty quickly, we both thoroughly enjoyed them at very reasonable cost in a pleasant manner we look forward to going back there,

Splendid superior beef Sunday lunch with perfectly cooked buttered veg, all so very much better than I had expected, served in a busy convivial setting. Quantity and quality both there. Pleasant staff. Good car parking. Will happily return and happily recommend. Very busy - best to book ahead.

We had a lovely meal served efficiently and at a very reasonable price. The beers and mulled wine were also good. As we had a 10 month old child and a 32 month old child with us it was good to find somewhere that could provide suitable seating and a place to one side of the main eating areas so that we did not impinge on other diners. The child menu was suitable for the older child. Obviously we took food for the little one. Plenty of car parking spaces and a convenient location.

My friend and I had an evening meal on Saturday 2nd December 2023. We were seated to our table immediately by a lovely young lady and were given menus. We ordered drinks whilst we waited for our food and when the meals arrived we were extremely pleased at the timing which was perfect the excellent meal presentation and the taste. Linda the manager has created a welcoming ambiance superb food and a perfect location to spend your time here. Well done and many thanks.

We’ve finally found our go-to restaurant when we fancy a steak… fantastic!!

After me and my partner made 4 random stops here for lunch we knew that the food was good and the staff very friendly. With this track record it seemed the prefect venue for a celebratory lunch for 25 friends and 4 well behaved dogs. It was easy to plan the menu choices and availability by email and I just provided 90% of the menu choices 2 days in advance. On the day car parking was easy and friends travelling by train or staying overnight in Welshpool were able to stroll up through the town to The Raven Inn. Pre-lunch drinks in the bar satisfied every palate with tasty fresh coffee, a range of Real Ales, wines and soft drinks. Plenty of room to stand, sit and chat, a real fire log-burner and dog biscuits on the bar. With 25 of us we had a reserved dining area in the old part of the building and shortly after I had seated everyone, the starters began to be brought to the tables. Eight different starters satisfied the diners with their engaging presentation and satisfying taste. Then the main courses arrived with the personalise steaks, sausages relished by our Swiss friends, Braised Faggots from the butchers in Welshpool, fish and curries. Particular praise was from the lucky diners who had chosen the pan-fried duck breast, what large ducks they must have been! With the bar handy on two side it was easy to keep hydrated and help wash down the wonderful food. The finale was the appearance of the desserts, brilliant like finely costumed dancers with the Amaretto Creme Brulee and the Dacqouise looking as spectacular as they tasted. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we really felt carefree and cared for. Congratulations to all the front of house staff and the wizards in the kitchen who were the creative powerhouse. The dogs particularly enjoyed the walk along the river bank that ran from the Raven bridge upstream through the fields across from the railway.

Nice friendly pub with good food

Absolutely stunning curry. I had the Kothal Puri curry off the specials board and it was a taste sensation. The nicest pub curry I’ve ever had. Never had a bad meal here.

I have visited the Raven many times always very good, today was a total disaster extremely slow service to start, food not brilliant meat not to usual standard rubbish coffee, no sweet as we settled our bill and left because table had not been cleared after 45 minutes.

Visited for 4 consecutive days early November. Staff were fabulous. Food was excellent everything we had was delicious. After reading several negative reviews it’s crazy to compare this venue to cheaper chain pubs. All the food was fresh. Ok drinks a little expensive but everywhere nowadays is the same. Give it a try and be blown away. Also extremely dog friendly

Absolutely loved it here, I will definitely be back! The food was delicious, the service really friendly and the atmosphere relaxed, inviting and just generally great. Absolutely loved how dog friendly they are - just one point to mention is that leeks are toxic to dogs so don’t order the sausage for your 4 legged friend (i am a vet so know this to be true!). I loved it and so did my dog - THANK YOU. 10/10

Am 67 and I have never tasted such lovely chips. They stayed hot and crispy all the way through from 1st chip to last. Additionally I love the atmosphere here, the friendly attentive staff and the fact it is big enough so i don t get claustrophobic. Disabled access. Good choice of food. Clean and inviting. Top Marks. It is rare that I give top marks but this place deserves it

After trying another restaurant a few miles down the road & being treated rudely, due to us not being from the area, me & my family decided to try here. And we was not disappointed, as soon as we walked through the door the staff made us feel welcome, the food was outstanding & one of the best meals we have ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Welcoming pub with something for everyone! Best pub lunch I've had in a very very very long time! Staff accommodating and kind Great choice on the menu. Full hearty and tasty meals - option for those with smaller appetites to 'go small' on loads of the plates (I thought that was a great option and something you dont see) Great kids menu - not the 'something and chips' like a lot of places - more balanced options but the treat food was there too Good price range and worth every penny Lots of different branching sections to the pub family friendly areas but also small cwtches if you are going as a couple Wonderful wood fire Lot of outdoor space for summer (which we intend to use when we come back when its sunny again) Super accessible if in a wheelchair/ difficulty walking The toilets where spotless! Very well decorated pub with a nice friendly and welcoming feel I bet its great in the summer as its next to the heritage railway. Will come again! Short 10 mins walk from the town but loads of parking if you are driving

Absolutely excellent Sunday lunch. The beef was fantastic. Perfect Yorkshire pudding. But the cauliflower cheese was out of this world the best I have ever eaten. Becky took our order and could not have been friendlier. It might be 80 odd miles from home but we will definitely be back. Thank you all x

The seven of us had a lovely Sunday lunch and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I wouldn’t even give it one star, walked in no greeting, went to ask a lad about seating to eat looked at me and plainly ignored me, asked another lady who had no idea! Left won’t be back!

I wouldn’t of rated it any stars if I had the chance, I was so looking forward to having a meal here with my husband, but upon arrival we weren’t greeted, went to ask a lad who worked there where to sit and order food looked at me and just plainly ignored me! Very arrogant! Then asked another girl walking past who had no idea (I mean why have staff if they don’t know even the basics) so we left! Won’t be back! Disappointed

Always has a good selection of Draft ales. They could do with changing the menu periodically, it would be nice to have something new. Only 2 vegan options available - Falafal Burger and Curry (Vegan on request). Great place to bring your dog.

Big, airy restaurant with good food and lovely service. Very impressed and the comfy sofas were to die for!

Reviews are too positive. This is a lovely pub, with nice atmosphere but the food needs work! Fish fingers were out of a Birds Eye packet and the curry had a lovely taste but the consistency was like water. I hope they improve this as it’s a good location and lovely space.

A lovely, spacious and clean gastro pub. Food was very good, with generous portions and friendly staff. The pub is very dog friendly, with treats available for dogs on their special dog menu!

Had only a drink there but it had lovely decorated garden and interior, very friendly staff and even had a mint chocolate with our coffee which is impressive these days. Like to return to see what the food is like. Great location, just off the roundabout and big carpark. Wheelchair accessibility seems good.

We go here quite often but this visit was a sunny Monday afternoon and as ever it was busy but that never affects the level of service. The team are always very friendly & attentative and the food is always good so we will be going back again.

Very good, busy at the time we went in- so my chips weren't as hot as the rest of the table's chips. Chicken burger was really good. However the burger was over seasoned- tasted more like seasoning that beef itself. Desserts were really good

Myself and colleague went to dinner on the Thursday and was told we would have to wait for an hour for the food it arrived in an hour I had green Gammon my colleague had the fish both were very good followed by 3 scoops of the lovely ice cream .Friday night sat down at 730 food arrived within 15 mins again the food was excellent ..Saturday night when we arrived we were told there’s an hour wait after 1hour 20 minutes I asked a waitress where our food is and was told another 10 minutes.Sure enough it arrived 10 mins later by the time we had our desserts we had been in the pub 2 hours 15 mins .Again the food was excellent .If were told it would be 1and half hour wait we would have left and gone elsewhere when paying the bill I was apologised to 3 times but no offer a discount or reduction a drink bill ie can I take off the dinks total off the bill .I was not impressed considering we spent nearly £200 in there over 3 nights .So I would conclude the food is excellent but on a weekend when the W&L gala is on and The Llanfair country show is on beware you may have to wait over an hour for food
