Thanks for a lovely authentic Indian meal. The share platter was delicious and offered a variety of starters … I loved my korma. The young waiter was so pleasant as was the lady who served us . Our plates were totally emptied … thanks Raj will be back . Kathy

Be careful if you’re vegetarian! Have had bits of chicken in vegetarian sauces multiple times- they’ve clearly just scooped it out from pots of meat dishes. I haven’t ate meat in 12 years and eating here is the closest I’ve come to accidentally eating it. We always order a takeaway for collection. Tonight was the 3rd time in a row that I’ve got home and found bits and pieces of chicken in a vegetarian dish. Since we drive to pick it up, the first two times it happened I didn’t call to complain. I stressed again the next time I was ordering over the phone that bits of chicken had ended up in it the previous time and it couldn’t be eaten. Tonight I stressed again that I was ordering a vegetarian dish but when we got home, there was still bits of chicken. They said they’d make a replacement if we came and collected it (a fair distance) so we drove back over to pick it up. We checked it in the car and there were still bits and pieces of chicken in the replacement. So that was clearly just scooped out of a pot of chicken tikka masala again. Took it back in to hand it back and they made another replacement. We didn’t bother checking the 2nd replacement before we left and just headed home, as by this point we were already completely. Came home to the rest of the food that at this point, was freezing and had to be reheated. £50 on three separate occasions that was wasted when you end up just eating the sides. Checked the 2nd replacement dish when we got home and we aren’t convinced this was made vegetarian either. This place offers vegetarian options and you’d expect them to be vegetarian. Meat in a vegetarian meal three times in a row is a joke and we won’t be back.

Unbelievable, this was one of the best lamb patia I have ever ate, I know it will haunt my psyche until I get it again, thanks guys this was amazing.

Take away. Ordered a pasanda and a tikka Masala with other items. When we got home both curries looked and then tasted the same. Too late to start going back. Quite expensive for a take away so disappointed when we got home to discover the wrong order. Plus we were the only ones in the restaurant when ordering and it took ages - still didn't get it right. Whatever curry we got we ate as we were starving and it was nice.

The best Indian takeaway we’ve had in Belfast. We recently moved to Belfast and have been working our way around all takeaways and so far, this has been the very best! We ordered chicken tikka chilli masala, pilau rice, garlic naan, popadoms and all of the dips. Beautiful depth of flavour to the chilli masala with a good kick of chilli and lots of garlic, large skewered chicken pieces and a generous portion. Naan was fresh, dips were in larger pots than other takeaways so plenty for 2 people, fluffy pilau and fresh popadoms. Friendly service too. We’ll definitely return to sit in.

This unassuming homely venue on the Lisburn Road near Adelaide train station and the Police Station is so welcoming and serves the best and most authentic Indian meal I have ever eaten in Belfast or on my travels. The 4 of us visiting on a family birthday were made to feel very special. A little jewel of a place.

Ate here last night had two wowcher voucher deals worth 50 pounds off the bill, the waiter said he accepted them but when it came to discounting it off our bill he said only one worked. I showed him the receipt for two but he made me pay an extra 44 pounds. The food was really overpriced and the chicken curry was bland, the staff were rude and just there to take your money no customer service. The portions were small and really expensive. No atmosphere in the restaurant so many other great places to eat in Belfast don't bother with this expensive, no atmosphere restaurant they are only interested in taking as much money off you as possible.

Their service is so good. The food there is mouthwatering as well. I enjoyed my dinner with my friends.

Tastiest Indian in Belfast! I have been going here for years (decades?) and it is firmly my favourite Indian restaurant. Would recommend the chicken Rozzala, saag aloo and the peshwari nan! Always friendly service here whether takeaway or sitting in.

First and last time visit. Ordered chicken tikka madras and absolutely no heat. I was asked what I would like a drink and I said a glass of wine. I was offered either a small or large and I went large. Arrived to table with a bottle of wine. I said no sorry, i just asked for a large glass not a bottle and the server made things so awkward by saying this was a large and unscrewed the bottle top. I said I didn't want the bottle but he just looked at me and said nothing, I just took the bottle. Very embarrassing position to be and given not a great meal, I wont be back

Wow...rolled in to The Raj by accident because we got into town late and it is one of the only places open. The food was awesome! The services was exceptional. Every once in a while you stumble on to a gem and I would put The Raj on that list. All the food was great but the Lamb Biriyani was the best I’ve ever had.

We ordered the mid week speical two starters and two mains £12.50 each we also had two soft drinks bill came to £43 . So we asked why and how come.. Owner said we ordered from the wrong page on the menu.So we asked where does it say that anywhere on the menu . Visited for the first time last night. It was a late dinner due to.a busy evening and we were very hungry and needing good food quickly! And that is what we got. Drinks order was taken and poppadoms with dips brought immediately with the menus. We opted for chicken tikka bhuna and chicken tikka rogan josh and a peshwari naan. The food was served quickly and was delicious. We would definitely return. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

I am a regular at the raj but i can say after my last visit i will not be back. My friend and i had a lovely meal and when we were finished we gave them our livingsocial voucher as usual but when the waiter saw that i had gotten a promo code with the voucher he started shouting that he wouldnt accept it because he wouldnt make any money. The tables of people around us were all looking over and i was so embarassed, the rudeness and ignorance of the waiter was unbelievable. Luckily my friend had another voucher we could use so the waiter proceeded to take and scan both vouchers. He said he was keeping mine so he could contact living social and then he would get back to me. Here we are 2 weeks later no phonecalls from the raj and i had to sort it out with livingsocial myself. They said they would contact the raj to sort this with me but no emails or contact was received from them so after 2 weeks livingsocial had to refund me. I would just like to say avoid this restaurant if you dont want to be highly embarassed or receive the most pityful customer service ever known!!! I would rather have given them 0 out of 5 but this is the lowest mark that can be given.

Been meaning to leave this review for a while, this is our go to for an Indian in Belfast, really great food and wonderful service, definitely would recommend it.

Eager and friendly service was the first thing we noticed about The Raj. This was our first visit, but we were with friends who were regulars. Of course, we ordered far too much food, but there were many tempting dishes, so we just went to town - it was all delicious, and the exact spicy kick we requested (it can be easy to get this wrong). There were differing preferences at the table with level of spice, and they got them all right. Well done!

Pedimos 2 entrantes, Chicken Tikka y The Raj small plate, ambos buenos y teníamos grandes esperanzas. Por desgracia, los platos principales vinieron y eran horribles. Pollo Dopiaza Con Arroz Pilau Y Llanura De Nan. Cordero Tikka Bhuna con pilau y ajo nan. El pollo estaba duro y la salsa dopiaza fue la peor que he probado. El pan de nan se cortó en 3 partes, 1 pieza se quemó, 1 era tan delgada que estaba crujiente y en la parte posterior faltaba parte del mismo, como si se hubiera atascado y retirado. El cordero era duro y la salsa era tan salada, el ajo nan era tan fuerte que no se podía comer. La comida apenas fue tocada. Cuando informamos al personal del hotel, nos ofrecieron otra comida, después de que pedimos la factura y sacamos 5 de la factura de nuestros refrescos. Puede que haya considerado darle una segunda oportunidad a este lugar si estos artículos hubieran sido retirados de la factura, ya que no lo harían, me atendré a comer en los confiables restaurantes indios de Belfast.

Visited this location for evening meal with wife. Met on arrival by Manager and shown to a window seat. Restaurant was busy with a lot of Tables. Drink order and Menu presented very quickly and we were given sufficient time to browse the fairly extensive Menu. Lot of emphasis put in Curries and House Specials.

I always feel uncomfortable leaving bad reviews online - my general feeling is, if you have a problem you can say it directly to the restaurant and hopefully they will make it up to you. Considered that this has not been the case with The Raj, I feel I earned myself the right to complain.

After a lot of searching and as our local Indian takeaway was closed we thought we’d give the raj ago after all the reviews seem to be very positive, now believe me when I say people I know a good curry better than most ! So rest assure your in safe hands ! Onion bhajies , lamb jalfrezis , garlic nan, pilule rice, poppadoms and each of the chutneys.. well firstly the bhajies were some of the worst I’ve had, was more like a hash brown with onion! Clearly not made in the restaurant big thumbs down there, mains well the heat level was there the flavour was there along with plenty of meat but why oh why put mushrooms in a jalfrezi ?!! It’s about as authentic as pineapple on pizza ! No place for them in a traditional jalfrezi , poppadoms were lovely and fresh although the ‘ chilli chutney’ is just sweet chilli sauce ? I’d give it another go and avoid the bhajies and ask for no mushrooms , certainly not the cheapest 43.00 for a takeaway for two ? Calm down lads I’m not made of money !!
