Very nice. Busy. Small. Good beer. friendly welcome. Interesting food specials board. Would return to try food!

Popped in for a drink as had heard good things. Not disappointed. Lovely bar with a good menu. Will come back for food. Would recommend it as a place to stay for friends who visit. We live too close to stay!

This really is a little treasure of a pub - mainly due to Carol and the team that run it. I haven't tried the evening food (my own fault for eating beforehand) but you can read the other reviews on that one. The thing for me that sets it apart is the warm hospitality. I was travelling on my own and it was quiz night that evening. I was quite happy to compete on my own but Carol found me a regular team to play with so I ended up having a great night and made some new friends. The bed was perfect and indeed the room facilities in general, and Carol even found somewhere for me to park my bike (no double entendre intended 😊). I'll be back!

Had lunch at The Railway for a Birthday treat. So glad we found this place. Food , drinks, atmosphere and service were excellent. I use a wheelchair and can sometimes feel like an inconvenience when eating out, not here though. The lovely chaps made me and my family feel very welcome , without 'fuss' . Super experience all round. THANKYOU

Fantastic lunch. I had the sea bass which was perfectly cooked with a lovely creamy white wine sauce. Highly recommended.

Dining experience best in Skipton in my opinion. Great traditional menu. Great staff superb beer choice. Didn't stay over so don't know about rooms.

We found this hidden gem on our dog walk along the canal in Skipton on a Sunday afternoon,it’s located on the back streets just off the canal and 5 minutes walk from the centre on Skipton, the pub has a separate restaurant which was very busy ,we sat in the bar area,we ordered two Sunday lunches,they were delicious homemade and well cooked with all the trimmings ,the food and drinks were reasonably priced,the staff were attentive and friendly , the pub was very clean and tidy and is also dog friendly,we will be returning the next time we are in Skipton,the food was far better than the other pubs we have tried along the main high street.

Food here is absolutely lovely. Great portion size and lots of choice. I had the Sunday roast beef. Lovely. Great choice at the bar and the staff here are a credit to this fine pub/eatery. Service here is amazing. The locals are very friendly too. I wish this was my local.

Skiptons little gem, from walking through the front door, the warm welcoming smile from staff, great table service the food did not disappoint great spring roll starter, pizza garlic bread and mixed olive's 2 mains off the special board had the ladies telling us time and time again how tasty, the excellent steak and ale pie, and the best Fish pie Brian had ever had, well done team an excellent meal with great service in a good atmosphere.

Pre Christmas Dinner. Herb crusted salmon was a great choice, followed by cheesecake, which was amazing! 😃

Friendly staff, handy for town, clean bedrooms although not huge. A busy place but the staff are very accommodating and the breakfasts were lovely.

A few of us visited for our annual Christmas bash and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the staff very welcoming, attentive and efficient which resulted in a great night. What a fantastic cosy pub.

Unfortunately this wasn't the best experience this time. The standard menu was drastically reduced to offering pretty much what a cafe would offer. The Xmas menu seemed pricy. Table next were discussing how expensive & how little you got for your main course. I enjoyed the soup, though the chips were far from fresh but were happily removed from the bill after I mentioned it. Shame, I will return but not until the standard menu choices are back.

The food is 5 star, everything else passes.

Lovely cosy pub near the heart of Skipton. Check out the menu online but book a table as it is popular and a small venue. Service and food was great - we really enjoyed our visit (public parking nearby).

Quality pint of Hetton Pale Ale and a 3 meat Sunday roast with home made Yorkies!! Great service too.

As always The Railway doesn’t disappoint,, we’re all regular visitors to Skipton and always visit The Railway,, four of us had another fantastic Sunday afternoon meal starters, mains and desserts were all beautiful and for the quality of food and service you receive it’s just very reasonably priced…. Good selection of beers, some I've not seen before.. Food must be good as all the tables were reserved from 6 o'clock onwards.. Lad behind the bar seems to serve the regulars before walkin's..

Second stay here this year and just as good as first time. Clean, comfy rooms. Excellent shower. Great choice and quality for breakfast. Food is very popular here and very reasonably priced....8 oz rump for £16.95. Cask ale is well kept. Highly recommended. Well done to the friendly team at The Railway

Came here for Sunday lunch whilst staying in the area. I chose it on the reviews and also as it served food on a Sunday until 7pm, which not all pubs do. We had a lovely meal, and there is a brilliant menu with loads of choice and loads of options for vegetarians! I had the nut roast, which was large and delicious! My brother did have the burger, which was homemade and served medium cooked, so still pink in the middle. We had to send it back as I wanted it well done. Should really have asked us how we wanted it cooked at the time of ordering. The desserts were delicious, had the homemade crumble and custard! Definitely recommend booking a table as it gets very busy!

Went for Sunday lunch. Despite a mix up on our booking we were accommodated. I had a small carvery which was delicious. My mum had the small fish pie which she loved. I totally recommend this as somewhere to eat.

In Skipton for a short break and came across this little gem. Just wish they'd been open on Monday night too! I've just had the oven roast salmon with Parmentier potatoes + baby vine tomatoes with a cream and spinach sauce. Divine. Hubby had a balti, we shared spring roll starters and both broke the rules and had sticky toffee pud. Couldn't fault the food, staff friendly, attentive, professional - and the pub has a really good atmosphere. 5 mins walk from the bus station over the canal, put this on your must do list. I envy the locals!

A great place for a meal, easy walk from the railway station.

We were in Skipton for the weekend visiting friends. They took us to a pub (The Railway) for a meal which had a very lively atmosphere, probably a bit too noisy for me, but that did not detract from the food which was fabulous. I had roast pork belly, generally my favourite on any menu, however, this was probably the finest I have eaten; the meat was cooked to perfection and the crackling crispy but not tough and the balance of flavours in the accompanying sauce truly flavoursome. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone especially as a two course meal for four people including two steaks and drinks came to just £22.00 per head.

The food was pretty good and we'd definitely go again. 4 stars.

Quiet lunch on a Friday. Food was delicious, portions were generous. Sides also quite big. Very good value for what seemed to be ‘home cooked’ food. Well worth a visit.

I have visited multiple times now and it is quite possibly one of the best pub food/grub places I’ve ever been too. Drinks and food are delicious and it’s all very reasonably priced. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Amazing service all round. I will be visiting again whenever I’m in the skipton area.

Have been to the Railway several times and food and service never disappoint. Went yesterday for Sunday dinner, and food was excellent. Quality ingredients, well cooked. Beer is always well kept. Prices are fair and reasonable. One disappointment though was one of our party ordered a large (250ml) glass of wine. When it came it was only a medium (175ml) measure. When this was queried we were told that this was the biggest they do, as the till was unable to process a large measure. It was only when the size was queried that this was explained, and not when the order was taken.....which is what should have happened. Amazed that they cannot serve a large, 250ml, measure of wine, and never experienced this in any other pub.

We had a family meal with ages ranging from 60-4 and we were not disappointed. The Sunday Roast was really well cooked and tasty. The children’s choice was good and varied . The staff could not do enough for us - I would like to thank them 👏

A beautiful hotel for a beautiful price. The staff were very welcoming and the room was beautiful. Only negative thing would be the quality of the shower as it was quite narrow however I'm still happy to leave 5 stars. I just apologies for being so hung over when I checked out 🤣

We had been meaning to try The Railway for a while as we had many memories of years gone by. It was my mum's birthday so booked for lunch. On arrival the greeting was friendly and we were shown to our table. Service was very efficient. Menu selection is good and varied. It was so good to experience waiting for the food to be freshly cooked! and when it arrived it did not disappoint. It was tasty, nicely presented and fresh. We all enjoyed our selection which included the Kiev from the Specials Board which was clearly not bought in and delicious, the fish pie (smaller portion was still generous), steak wrap delicious and the chicken with pepper sauce also good. The mushroom starter was well seasoned and tasty and the crumble for dessert did not disappoint. Overall great experience and good value for money. Thank you.

Had a lovely nights stay here as we had booked a steam train experience from Bolton abbey and wanted to have a few drinks . Lovely clean hotel very friendly , nice touches in the room and a fabulous breakfast in the morning . We were lucky enough to find a parking spot free of charge on the Main Street and the taxi to the steam train was £30 return

A very comfortable hotel. Staff are very accommodating. I had a chilli burger...very tasty and massive! All other guests having food were as impressed. Comfortable bed and adequate facilities in the room.

Really enjoyable stay in this well run pub, deservedly popular. Rooms were clean and bright. Comfy beds. Great breakfasts.

A fabulous atmospheric backstreet pub that was a mixture of friendly locals boozer with good honest food. The cask beer was in excellent condition and the fish and chips were divine. Great value with outstanding service where regulars (dogs included) mixed with vistors to create the fabulous atmosphere.

This was my local for a time. It"s now totally changed and updated brilliantly. My accommodation was excellent. The rooms have everything you need and are decorated tastefully. No faults, everything worked and access was good. I could have stayed in that bed longer but would have missed the fantastic full english breakfast. Well sourced local ingredients cooked to perfection by super friendly staff. The Railway is still a pub but the restaurant is full every night so book in advance. The pub is very well situated for the town centre, railway and bus station. I chose to walk along the canal towpath every morning. Staff were great and went out of their way to make me welcome. Highly recommended. And it's considerably cheaper than it's rivals.

A bit of a hidden gem, very friendly and welcoming, lovely rooms and busy locals bar. Didn't eat in restaurant but menu looked really good and would definitely give it a go next time. Only place we will stay now when we visit Skipton. Room 6 is a good size has everything you need. The pub serves good beer best pint in Skipton my husband said. Breakfast excellent and cooked by a lovely man very chatty and friendly. Best location just off the train then a short walk to town. Quiet at night just love it there. We will be back 😄

Dropped in for lunch, all I can say is we'll be back, I think that sums it up.
