Thank you everyone at the queen's head...we had a lovely Sunday lunch..the staff are 👏 amazing..homemade yorkies and proper roasties are the trademark of a good kitchen..plenty of fresh veg too...pork for the lady and lamb myself ...we'll gladly go back

Nipped in for a drink while waiting to collect my daughter. 4 options of lager but only one apple cider which was off. 3 staff behind the bar they still had to be prompted to get served. Restaurant possibly welcoming bar no chance awkward bar area.

Cold and weary, five of us descended on the Queens Head for a late Sunday lunch. Ambience, service and food quality were all excellent. We had a variety of drinks from the bar before the meal, and then enjoyed a range of starters and for the most part, a roast for main with a great selection of veg, enormous yorkshire's and thick lovely gravy. This was followed by several desserts which were shared round - as you do! very reasonable prices as well, so you don't need a second mortgage to enjoy a lovely meal with a couple of drinks. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area and fancy the thought of a hearty meal from the 'wholesome home cooking' style menu.

Went for a meal early Saturday evening. The restaurant was full (we had booked in advance) but as it only seats perhaps 30 or so people it didn't feel noisy or crowded. Food was amazing - everything cooked and presented to perfection. Best meal out I've had in a long time and at an amazingly reasonable price considering the outstanding quality.

Enjoyed a Sunday lunch halfway round our walk yesterday. Made very welcome in ourwet walking gear. Food & beer was top notch.

What a disappointment the Festive menu Christmas dinner was . Hard roast potatoes, rubbery yorkshire puddings, raw stuffing a very strange square of sausage meat masquerading as a pig in blanket and watery gravy and not a cracker insight. Plus the restaurant was freezing not a very festive atmosphere having to eat lunch with your coat on!

Some friends and I went to The Queens Head in Saddington for an evening meal. It was our first ever visit. The food was excellent, as was the service, prices were very good, and the atmosphere was friendly. The steak and ale pie was scrumptious! The premises were clean, well decorated and tidy. Toilets were clean. Lots of car park spaces off road. A very impressive restaurant, selling a good selection of beers. We'll definately be back for more!

An incredible Sunday lunch. We had roast beef and it was a huge portion with plenty of veg, all perfectly cooked. Superb, friendly service. Our meal came out super quick and was piping hot. Highly recommended and book ahead as it gets very busy

Well suited with plenty of parking though you do need to be careful leaving as near a bend. Great food and the staff were friendly and professional. A relaxed atmosphere and a leisurely lunch with add on requests were no problem for staff. We enjoyed our visit and will no doubt return.

Came here from the local campsite on a Friday. Not very welcoming, very loud locals at the bar, and menu was very overpriced for just average sounding pub grub. Also didn't seem to have a kids menu?? Walked out after just 20 minutes to go somewhere else!

Everyone in our party of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. Burgers, gammon, and the steak and ale pie was especially good (excellent pastry and tender tasty filling). Great range of local beers and efficient and very friendly service. What’s not to like?!

Had a fantastic meal last night. The chicken ragu dish was excellent and full of flavour. All staff were friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Will definitely be going back.

Early father's day meal this afternoon kids loved playing outside in the play area lovely good quality food and excellent service very relaxing meal with family.

Found this pub at the end of a rather long walk. Lovely atmosphere. We sat by the log burner. Food ordered and came very quickly. Food fantastic. Had a sandwich with chips and salad. Sadly don't have a photo. I gad the hot turkey, cranberry and Stuffing. Yummy

popped in for Sunday lunch, good friendly service and the food was amazing. Great starters followed by roast lamb and the kids loved their puddings.

Wednesday last Sunday and and had a dreadful Experience Service was Slow they advertise children eat Free if a pay a paying adult is having having a 2 course which I did But only got one child free when asked when asked management management why the the service was slave was slow and that I wasn't I wasn't happy he said said I'll take it on the chin What a shocking response to a complaint

We stumbled across this little gem last night. The kerbside appeal was what drew us in initially. The inside did not disappoint! The food was absolutely out of this world. The BEST roast dinner I have ever eaten and my 4yr old 'fussy eater' ate every bite of his burger and chips. My husband had the stuffed chicken breast, and he too polished it off. The staff were great. Welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Popped into this pub for a quick drink after a lovely walk from Saddington to Gumley and back. The pub is dog friendly. You have to take your boots off which is quite right. Dogs need to enter. The welcome was very warm. The beers were very nice. Great atmosphere and lovely chats with lots of other customers. We had a really lovely time. They offer their home made pies to take away. We weren't tempted but others said how good they were. We went in January so it was very cold outside and the children's play area was empty but it had lots of different rides.

Had a lovely visit to the Queen head for a spur of the moment dinner with the family. The food was really good and the service we had from the young waitress was very good. It was a homely feel due to the log fire and there was a sale on food which resulted in every one feeling full and sleep set by the fire.

Poor food and poor service on a quiet evening with staff chatting amongst themselves while on their mobile phones.

Managed to get a pass out from the kids…so off to our local! Beautiful pie, mash and veg and a burger for the hubby. Couple of glasses of Merlot and a pint for him. Great service and a fabulous family pub. What more could you want?!? … And these views! 🖤

This is our “ go to “ place for Saturday lunch and never disappoints. So gorgeous sitting outside, overlooking saddington reservoir, with all the trees and flower in bloom . And the food matches the surrounds. Exceptional at all times. Thanks to Kai and staff.

Kai the manager and his team including Frankie really know how to look after guests. The setting is glorious overlooking the saddington reservoir so a huge plus after a long walk. The team are friendly and knowledgeable and understand their customers. Always ready to offer the extra drink without being pushy. It’s this balance that matters. Food is constantly excellent which makes it tus kind of place you want to come back to again and again !

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Food was delicious and the puddings were really well presented. Staff very friendly and on the ball.

Chose the Queens Head at Saddington after reading the reviews as it was a halfway point to meet our friends. Booked for Sunday lunch today and were definitely not disappointed. 3 courses for £19.95 and all 3 courses for all 4 of us were really lovely. Good food nicely presented, good price, nice pub, nice staff, good service. Couldn't fault it and will definitely go again.

We visited as a family group, 4 adults and 2 children, and had some excellent food with friendly and efficient service and good Covid-19 compliance. The roast meats were exceptional, the beef more like steak, and the veg were fresh and cooked just right. The children's meals were spot on and puds perfect. My syrup sponge with custard was light and tasty and the chocolate brownies with crunchy salted caramel saw no left overs either. Thoroughly recommend.

This was our first venture out to eat since lockdown commenced in March. We needn’t have been apprehensive because all necessary precautions were in place, one way in and another way out, social distancing etc. The service and food were excellent. Our roast pork was cooked to perfection as were all of the trimmings and accompaniments. The panna cotta desserts were beautifully presented and delicious. It was our first visit here and it certainly won’t be our last.

Took advantage of the "Eat Out to Help Out " offer earlier this week. Hadn't been here for many years but was as good as I remembered it. The steak and ale pie and chips were possibly the best I have ever tasted. The cheesecake was of similar calibre. TBH, would've been great value even without the offer! Will be returning soon.

We ordered three takeaway vegetarian roasts via email yesterday and collected today at 1.30pm. Collections are in the car park with ample room. Card payments. The food is fantastic and the portions are more than enough. The vegetarian version was fantastic and without the Yorkshire roast, this also suited a vegan.Definitely will be coming back! Well done

We decided to try the recently opened Queen's Head take-away service (Friday & Saturday evening plus Sunday lunch). So glad we did, it was fabulous, delicious & very filling. First rate. Gluten free fish & chips (with mushy peas, tartare sauce & lemon slice) and beef & ale pie with chips & mixed veg plus plenty of gravy. Easy to pre-order and pre-pay, collection in an hygienic & safe social-distancing way, packaged in cardboard cartons & presented in a paper carrybag. Well done on your initiative! Hoping to be back for more very soon.

Cracking Sunday lunch recently. Great quality of food. Very tasty. Obliging with request for more veg. Well presented. Good service. What’s not to like. Reasonably priced too we felt.

What a great local pub who served me a beautiful looking plate of fish and chips all hand made and tasted delicious- homemade chips and tartare sauce hand battered fish and homemade mushy peas - 👌

The surroundings are lovely and the decor is good too. I had fish and chips and they were excellent. They come with minted mushy peas which are sublime. They are served well on the plate/wood board on fish and chip paper and the staff are very attentive. I chose to sit in the bar rather than the restaurant, either are as good as each other. There is a car park to the rear of the pub and some good countryside walking if you wanted to walk off your lunch. Situated right next to a livery so you may see the horses coming by if you sit in the bar.

Really enjoyed our visit to Saddington and its pub, despite problems of access due to gas main work. Being lunchtime it was fairly quiet but the service was friendly and the food good. Dogs welcome too!

Went for Sunday lunch a couple weeks ago not an bad word to say about it. It was nice to have a variety of choice being as I’m vegetarian. The younger manger was very accommodating towards me and made extra effort with my children. Would highly recommend!!!!!

I cannot praise this place enough! We have been many times now and are never disappointed. We live around 50 miles away but it’s worth every mile of the journey. It is such a welcoming and friendly place to go. I have many food intolerances and they always go out of their way to cater for my needs, sometimes the chefs even make me a completely different dish fresh to order to make me enjoy the experience of dining out without the stress that I have had at other establishments when they can’t give me clear answers on ingredients etc... Myself and my family will be returning again in the very near future. Look forward to seeing you all again soon for another fabulous meal, we always leave with stuffed tummy’s Many thanks

After reading all the reviews we thought we would eat here. I agree with a previous comment from a fellow diner that the staff need more enthusiasm. Not much interaction with the paying customer. The food was nothing special with tough beef ( after ordering medium), fatty lamb , hard roast potatoes , bland veg and dense stuffing. The Management response will probably be if you had told us we could have rectified it but if the chef cooks this way and sends it out I feel like there is no easy solution. Something somewhere has gone very wrong. Maybe a bad staff day but we all said we wouldn’t return.

I have chosen to send the management a direct message about our experience - but suffice to say that we think the service was lacklustre, and we had to make quite a bit of effort to attract attention, while everything we asked for was supplied it was often done VERY slowly at their pace - ( 5 minutes or more just to get a menu!) rather than when we would have liked it. The food was fine, ambiance straightforward, and we were grateful for a pleasant meal. Thank you.

We ate at the Queens Head last night and can honestly say the food was delicious! Polite and unobtrusive service in a very nice atmosphere and dining room. We’re looking forward to returning soon. Thankyou guys!

We had a table booked for 3 pm Sunday 15th December. We were early so enjoyed drinks at the bar and given menus. There were 8 of us. The food from starters, mains to dessert was very good. Plates were hot for mains and there was more than enough hot vegetables on the table. The panfried chicken I had was outstanding. Thankyou for a double birthday/pre Christmas lovely celebration. We had an impromptu lunch visit. A very cosy country gastro pub feel. Very welcoming. The staff were lovely.

Had delicious Sunday lunch and starter recently at this pub with beautiful views over the Leicestershire countryside. We both opted for roast beef and were asked how well cooked we wanted it but it all came well done anyway! Needless to say there was plenty of it and it was very tasty. My gluten free Yorkshire pudding was a reasonable attempt but have had much better!

I visited the queens head Monday evening with some friends. We where greated with a smile and shown to a table the young lady was very welcoming and friendly. We ordered our drinks they came over quickly, I had the sirloin medium rare it was cooked perfectly and my 2 friends had the fish and the lamb. The fish was golden and the batter light, we were told about the lamb and it did not disappoint it was wrapped in bacon and stuffed with black pudding and sausage meat and presented beautifully we all enjoyed the meals. We were offered sweets and coffee but where too full. Over all a great night and lovely meal highly recommended

Visited this Pub/ Restaurant previously and always been Happy however on this occasion felt standards had dropped. Firstly the service, please why does nobody smile? non of the staff look happy in their work, had to keep asking for service, was not offered the complimentary Bread & Water had to ask for drinks, bill.

We planned a 2 hour walk starting and ending in Saddington, and booked the Queens Head on the strength of the Tripadvisor reviews. we were not disappointed

A short walk away from our house makes this the ideal pit stop for Saturday lunch. Lovely setting throughout the year as it overlooks the Saddington Reservoir. Great big oak tree in the garden gives an added bonus on the landscape as you watch it change over the seasons.

Visited on a Monday lunchtime with my wife and elderly parents. The welcome and service was excellent. All meals were of a high quality and superb value off the £8.75 menu. Adjustments were made without any issue e.g. a less spicy sauce with one main and only strawberries rather than mixed berries with a dessert. Thoroughly recommend.

Service was a bit slow- we waited 35 mins for our food - and we were well outside the lunch rush. They’re supposed to be famous for their pies - but it’s the fish and chips that looked amazing.

The beginning of October we were invited to the Queens Head for Sunday lunch. The plated lunch were very delicious with plenty of fresh vegetables. We could choose out of three types of meat . My choice was beef and it was really nice.I would recommend this pub but you have to book your table there otherwise you cannot get in.

Came the other day on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. Came and had the mid week deal fish and chips, my friends had the beef burger and pie. It was all presented really well and looked all homemade - we were later told it was including the pie. Fantastic value for money will come again soon with the family would totally recommend

After walking part of the Leicestershire Round, we were ready for a hearty meal and were not disappointed on a Saturday lunchtime. The lamb and mint pie was delicious for my friends. Unfortunately as a vegetarian allergic to peppers, I could not find a main meal and ordered the goats cheese starter. This really was delicious so no faulting the actual food. Also the young men serving us were helpful and friendly. We were late eating and so felt a bit abandoned towards the end of the meal but as we were busy chatting did not mind this! A lovely ending to our walk.

This Pub is a simple country Village Pub, nothing flash about it but good honest food at a good honest price.

Booked a table for late Sunday lunch with my partner, was greeted by a grumpy waiter/manager who chose to ignore us mid conversation to answer the telephone!

We wanted a "British" roast lunch as our daughter & her husband were visiting us from the USA. We booked here last Sunday as the reviews were great. We were not disappointed. The food was fantastic & not over priced. Well cooked, tender meats & good portions. The service was excellent & the surroundings great. We will return probably during the week to "check out" the rest of their menu!
