We discovered The Queen's Head, at Needingworth whilst walking a circular on the Great Ouse Way. We had lunch and decided it was so good we booked for dinner the next day.....and again the next day!The meals are great value, well prepared and presented and there is a large choice of options. The dishes are original and that little bit different.Staff are friendly and accommodating, ......in all a friendly pub, with excellent food and great drinks. A cut above the rest.

This pub offers really great food which is excellent value and served in a Covid safe environment. It’s family run (twin sisters) which adds to the charm. The portion size and value for money was impressive, but the best part was the proper pie! No casserole with a puff pastry lid here!

After an 11 mile walk, my daughter and I were joined by my wife to go to the Queen’s Head for a well deserved lunch and rehydration. The food was excellent—chicken burgers and fish and chips. Fairly standard pub fare, but excellent quality, generous portions and well priced. The service was excellent—friendly and efficient, and the beers well kept. We will be back!

We there with friends for a Valentines meal. Considering that there were about 21 of us the food arrived promptly and no one was kept waiting for their meal. The menu was excellent and varied with vegetarian and vegan choices. It is a credit to the pub that everyone enjoyed their courses. The specials board was impressive. The last time we were there was for a Xmas function and again the fare was excellent. We will definitely be back either as a group or individually.

Ate here twice while staying in a cottage in the village for a week. The first time we ate in the bar from the bar menu, it was as you would expect from a bar menu, wholesome and plentiful, nothing fancy. The second time we ate in the restaurant ordering from the restaurant menu, this was a more varied menu. I had the spicy prawns to start followed by the pork belly and both were delicious, my wife had the vegan starter and main off the specials board, she also thouroughly enjoyed them. Oh, and the beer and wine were very quaffable.

We just had a family birthday Sunday lunch and it was very good, but is it really asking too much to receive a friendly friendly and a smile? I’m not knocking the service, as it was very good, and the waitresses are young, but not once during our visit did we get a smile from anyone. I find that really odd, as it costs nothing. The food was really lovely apart from a couple of the deserts which we had a major problem with but that was handled well. The atmosphere is nice and the choices in the new Sunday menu were fine.We would definitely go back despite the lack of a welcome, but feel the new landlord should look into improving that.

Another fine meal at the Queens Head. We have been coming here for five years and imminently moving away. It will always be on my list as a place for good food and service. Both current and prior landlords have made it a pleasure to eat and drink here. Tonight the food was again super. Vegetable Curry delicious. Braised brisket equally so. If in doubt try The Queens Head. It’s got a menu offer to satisfy most tastes. Always lots of tasty specials too

We have eaten here twice before, but not for some time (A14 roadworks etc). We both really enjoyed our meals today. Freshly cooked, subtly different from mainstream and no complaints whatsoever. There is still the radio in the background but the windows have been painted and the dining room is now much lighter. Plenty of parking, wheelchair/zimmer access. Good selection of Ales. I had prawn & monkfish curry, really good, and my Mother chicken breast with Boursin, pureed potatoe and fresh broccoli. Everything was really tasty - much better than a chain / mainstream eaterie. The puddings are good quality too and we opted for these in preference to a starter.

I booked this pub based on superb recent reviews, as it was for my husbands birthday lunch (so a special occasion). We haven’t ventured out this way since we moved to St. Neots but I have to say - what a little gem it is. We were a table of 7 adults plus our 2 year old son. On first impressions of walking in I was a little worried, as it is a little tired decor wise. However, the staff, service and not to mention the incredible food more than made up for an incorrect first impression. Being a large group we all sampled a range from the menu and all of us were over the moon with our choices. The hake risotto was very luxurious and full of flavour, this pub does not scrimp on quality ingredients or portion sizes. The risotto was full of crab and huge prawns and was just amazing. My son had a kids mini roast. He’s quite a pedant for home cooked food, (doesn’t really do a chicken nuggets and chips sort-of-meal) so I could tell this was good because he ate loads and loved it.

A busy bar and restaurant on the village's main street with a good size car park behind it. Always friendly. We went straight to our table (it is best to book), had a quick look at the menu board and decided on the Roast Beef. This came with good roast potatoes, a Yorkshire Pudding and a separate dish of vegetables. These included carrots, cauliflower with cheese sauce and broccoli. Beware, the horseradish is real and hot. The meal was completed by a rum & raisin creme brulee which, surprisingly, was served cold. Another fine Sunday lunch at this well run village 'pub'.

The service was an equal match to the quality of the food and we will definitely return for more!

With five stars I was expecting better. One of the main reasons for eating out is getting an experience and something better than what you can produce at home. The food was pretty average.

Went here with a group from work and on first impressions its not the most welcoming or appealing place. But stick with it and its worthwhile. Food and service was excellent - I had the mushroom gorgonzola and prawns/mussels with chilli and garlic and it was an excellent starter and main. All other people said the food was very good so great all round

Went twice in a week as we were so impressed. It's a nice big spacious pub - much larger than you think driving past it. We were served by a friendly land lady and shown to our table in the restaurant area. We had roast beef Sunday lunch which was delicious - lots of soft juicy beef and piles of nicely cooked veg. The homemade apple crumble was nice too. Overall we were very impressed and the food seems to be very good value for money. Second visit was for a quick sandwich lunch and these were fresh and tasty. I had bacon and Brie sandwich with home made tomato soup and it was lovely. Highly recommended !

It has been over 2 years since I last visited this pub / restaurant in the village of Needingworth and it has changed very little. The public bar was relatively full but the restaurant section was quite empty but it did fill up while we were there. The lunch menu offered a reasonable choice as well as a 'Specials Board' available. On the lunch menu you can choose just the main course, starter and main course, main course and desert or the full works - each option priced accordingly. We went for the cream of mushroom soup, which was delicious, followed by braised steak in mushroom sauce, new potatoes and brockley. Everything was well cooked and very tasty. From the friendly welcome, the good service, the quality of the food and the value for money it offers, there is nothing not to love about The Queen's Head.

Ate here today with our walking group - have also eaten here with a club and with a large group of friends. The service is always friendly and prompt and Linda and team are very well organised for groups. Food always comes out on time and together - and never fails to please. Good work from Fraser the chef! What a shame they are leaving. Wish them a very happy retirement!

If you like dire slow service and waiting at the bar for a long time then this is the ideal venue for you. The bar wasn't even that busy !!!! Very poor....the ferry boat just down the road or the cock in Hemingford grey are much better for food or drinks

I visited the Queens Head this week to meet a friend and we both had a lovely three course meal which was well cooked, very tasty, large portions and well presented. I chose the home made chicken liver pate which was served with warm pieces of toasted bread, chutney, onion relish and salad garnish which I followed with a sea bass fillet main course and finished off with a chocolate and grand marnier dessert scrummy. It was a cold night but we soon warmed up just looking at the roaring open fire. If your looking for a warm welcome, friendly helpful staff, lovely food and good choice of wines please do give the Queens Head a try and just like good ole Arnie said, "I'll be back".

We were staying nearby and by chance found this absolutely delightful pub for our Saturday evening meal. The eating area was set separate from the main bar and ambience was good. 2 young waitresses were serving who were very attentive and efficient without being too conspicuous . We did not realise what a treat was in store for us. The range of the menu with the specials gave us so much choice, and when our orders did arrive they were outstanding. Not only generous, but also delicious and beautifully presented. Wish we lived nearer as we would be visiting regularly.

When we entered I thought " my god I'm over dressed " ordered drinks for us four and then asked to be seated . Staff young and good at their job . Very attentive. Food was really good . Gammon Steak was so big , desserts were great . We all agreed it was a good choice however only criticism was background music was a local radio station , waiters didn't know their wines and please don't have candles on tables when you do not light them , hence my 2 stars minus . Regulars in the bar were a bit negative with us as we finished our drinks as we were dressed " appropriately " .

Even though we eat here regularly there is never any chance of getting bored with the extensive menu and ever changing specials. Value for money combined with top notch food perfectly presented are the norm not the exception. The winning combination of Linda and Fraser supported by a friendly and very efficient team just works wonders. Today's meal was simply sublime. I genuinely have not had such tasty sea bass as is currently served as a special. Long may the great food and enviable reputation remain. Top marks and compliments to all the staff.

A friendly welcome and shown to our booked table. Drinks order taken immediately and then told about specials board and given the menus. We had Sunday roast, a normal portion for me and a half for my wife. We didn't wait very long and we were served with meat and Yorkshire pudding and then a plate of veg separate. Plenty for two and very hot. The standard of food and service was excellent and there were 3 waitresses fetching and clearing away empty plates. I couldn't fault anything, home cooked food at its best at a reasonable price

Looking for a Friday lunch in our area and this place scored very highly on Trip. Thought we would give it a go. Booked a table, but for a Friday lunch this was probably unnecessary. On arrival shown to a table. There is a 1/2/3 course fixed price menu, a la carte and four choices on the specials board all reasonably priced. Opted for a main course from the specials. Portion size was very generous and nicely cooked. Beer was all Greene King (a guest ale would have been nice). Wouldn't class this a gastro pub but a great example of traditional British pub food. Final bill was very reasonable. Will definitely consider returning to the Queen's Head again.

My partner and I and another couple (both of us boat owners at the Pike & Eel), would normally (for convenience) dine at the Pike & Eel ..... but wow, what a difference to what we have been used to. Our expectations were high due to 'word of mouth' from other boat owners, and we were not disappointed. The food was simply wonderful and extremely good value. Four of us had starters, main, one dessert and a few glasses of wine and the whole bill was less than £100. The food was hot, tasty and timely.Think the waitresses were a little new perhaps as we had a while for the bill when asked, but that pales in to insignificance compared to the whole evening.Really delighted that, there is a fabulous place to eat and socialise a short distance away from the Pike & Eel. Many thanks to chef & staff at The Queens Head for a most enjoyable evening.Thank you

The White Hartlocation-icon35 High StreetBritish

We have wanted to try the White Hart for a while and we got the opportunity this weekend. The pub is easy to find with lots of parking and it has a really lovely atmosphere inside and Nova the pup made my day! We love food so we’re keen to try it here. I usually try something standard to see how it compares so I ordered the cod and chips and my partner ordered the chicken burger. The fish and chips were probably the best I have ever had. The fish was flaky and juicy, the batter was crispy and light with a herb running through it and the chips were superb. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Many place say they do chips like this but rarely do they. There was a handmade tartare sauce too. The chips were magical! The chicken burger was hand made, a whole breast which was juicy and not dry and the fillings perfect! At the end of the meal we declined desserts and I asked if I could have a hot chocolate. Whilst they didn’t have any, the owner (sorry I didn’t catch his name) offered to pop upstairs and get some from his own home! There was 80s music playing and we loved our visit. We will certainly be going again. Thankyou White Hart and see you soon!
