If you’re around this area, you must pop in to this lovely establishment. We were greeted by the lovely Ruby who was so friendly and helpful. She couldn’t do enough for us. She sat us at a lovely cosy table next to the fire and helped us choose our drinks then brought them to us with a big smile. After looking at the menu we chose to have the rump steak baguette… it was delicious!! We ordered an extra side of tempura pickled onions and both my husband and I were blown away with the taste and standard of food and service. We were made to feel so welcome and enjoyed every second! Thank you so much to the staff for a fantastic time !!

We came across the Queen Inn whilst on a walk, it’s in a lovely little village. The staff are excellent and provide a great service! The food was delicious, we actually ate here twice once for lunch and dinner. On both occasions we were really impressed, really tasty food at fairly reasonable prices. The pub is traditional and had the fires lit making it really cozy as it was a very cold day. Also had a good selection of beers and wines.

Disappointing. A warm welcome, but a very dusty place. Food was cold , lemon chilli chicken sandwich had no taste, chicken thigh meat, on crusty baguette , which had a sliver of chilli spread or something, no taste of chilli or lemon. No butter either. Salad was two kinds of leaves, with oily dressing. Fries in a small pot and coleslaw. Only one person waiting on , good job it wasn’t busy ! Sadly we won’t be returning.

A lovely old pub in a village setting. Whilst the food quality was very good, unfortunately everything we had for Sunday lunch was cold apart from the roast potatoes and cauiflower cheese. We still ate it but wasnt as enjoyable and we should have given them the chance to rectify it but didnt as we were short of time. Even my sticky toffee pudding wasnt hot. The dining area lacked the charm of such an old pub and was very brightly lit so tiny changes would make all the difference. Staff were lovely

A little hidden gem! The hotel we were staying in did not have restaurant facilities on Sunday evenings and recommended here to us and we loved it. Very friendly staff, varied menu and great service. The twice baked cheese soufflé was amazing and the crab salad delicious. Hubby had a burger that got 10/10 We would definitely return if ever in the area again

You will have a reasonable meal at a reasonable price here. The homity pie that was tasty, covered in mashed potato but did not need chips with it. Veg were very chewy unfortunately. The waitresses were friendly and professional.

Just back from Sunday lunch with my wife 2 teenage children plus our friends and their 2 younger kids-The whole experience was very good. We were welcomed as we walked in, went up stairs to our table-drinks order taken right away and brought promptly-now the food, simply delicious-we have a variety of starter then all adults and older children had the roasts and they were all very very good, no room for desert but we had a couple to share-why not! Cant wait for our next visit-hopefully i wont be driving next time!!!

Nice pub, fires were on which was great as it was cold and wet outside. We had reserved a table but it wasnt too busy and it would have been nice to have been given a couple of options as we ended up squashed in a corner. Lunch menu is slightly limited but still a good range but the specials dont apply which was a shame. We had fish and chips and pie both of which were great portions and beautifully cooked. Recommended, looked popular for coffee etc too.

I had the fish and chips yesterday and in my opinion it was the worst fish & chips I had for a very long time and I am 70 years old!

We found this little gem on Saturday on the way back home from a walk we were tired and very hungry. As it was after 2pm we were unsure if food was still available. We were assured that it was and we were welcomed by a wonderful professional guy behind the bar whose customer service was to be admired. Along with our small rescue collie he made us feel welcome. Honestly this country is one of the worst in Europe for great customer service and its always so great when you get it!! The food and the service were both excellent apart from one tiny thing which I feel is worth a mention. One of the young staff was stood around by the bar with a bored expression which was a little off-putting and when she served our tasty dessert she did not supply us with any serviettes. Really not a huge deal but attention to detail makes the experience and we shouldn't have to ask for the basics. But we will one hundred percent be back and will recommend to everyone. In my job in hospitality in the area I am ofter asked for good places to eat. I will send them your way, job well done guy's 👏

When staying at the crown we usually eat at fantails. However, we decided to try this restaurant. The roast is amazing here. The beef is cooked perfectly and beautifully pink. Their local ales are excellent as well and are a perfect accompaniment to the food. We also owe the servers an apology as we forgot to leave a tip. We will rectify this on our next visit.

Traveling from Glasgow to Liverpool this was the perfect location to meet friends from Carlisle. Lunch was perfect. Plenty of choice, promptly served by friendly staff. Last it not least well cooked with good balance of flavors. We don’t pass this way often, but if we do this will be on the itinerary.

The pub is warm, welcoming and has a great young smiling staff who make eating here such a delight. All the food is tasty and the landlord seems to have the perfect balance between good food well presented at sensible prices. We were part of a big party and despite it being a cold wet Sunday night nothing was too much trouble and the energy from all the staff after a busy week was outstanding. We will be back.

This was a second visit for me, first for my parents. Lovely place, great menu and fantastic service. We were served by Jolie who was lovely and very helpful with the ale selection! Thoroughly enjoyed the food, good hearty meals with local ingredients, really tasty and well presented. Dad was struggling to finish the burger! We ate at the Queens on two occasions, once in the evening and once at lunch time. On both occasions the service was efficient and friendly. The food was very good indeed. There was even room to park in the car park.

We have been travelling around Lake District for 4 days and trying different places for dinner. The Queen Inn was without a doubt the best dinner we had. Starters/Mains/Dessert everything was amazing. The staff is lovely. I recommend this place after a hard day hiking for sure !

Myself and group of friends were staying in Carlisle for the night. Not wishing to go for a drink in Carlisle (pubs rather busy a rowdy) we decided to take the train to Wetheral and then a short walk to Great Corby. We initially sat outside and were served promptly and efficiently by polite bar staff. As the evening got cooler we asked whether could come inside and again the lady who was serving us arrange for us to be seated at tables conforming to social distancing regulations. At the end of the evening (10:30 as we had to the train back to Carlisle) the bar manager came over to us to thank us for our custom which was a really nice touch. Fantastic pub, great beer, fabulous staff.

This place is incredible for the food, staff and overall experience. If you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to eat or drink we highly recommend it. Despite being busy when we called in for a drink and on the off chance some food we were kindly welcomed and fed a fab platter.. We then booked a table for the following evening and were very much impressed by the menu - my partner is a real foodie too! We had 3 courses and coffee and the food was outstanding.

Wow, just amazing!We popped here as we were staying locally. COVID measures are robust and you feel safe eating here. The staff were very lovely and let us sit next to the fire even though we were two and it was a big table. Service was super speedy, drinks came in a minute flat. We had parsnip soup and a terrine, and steak pie and a steak. It was all incredible. The blue cheese sauce was out of this world yummy. We couldn’t believe the price, £50 for starters, mains and multiple drinks each. Such a bargain. We will definitely be back with friends next time we come down this way. Thank you so much!

We had a lovely late lunch today, it was a bar meal but was restaurant quality. The ribeye was tasty, tender and cooked to my liking, the steak pie was packed with delicious beef. The staff were friendly, courteous and unobtrusive. We will hopefully return in the future. Oh, and the Corby Blonde beer was excellent.

My wife and I plus 2 friends booked lunch at The Queen Inn at Great Corby on a Saturday afternoon after a decent walk along Hadrian's Wall.The Inn is fully geared up to be "COVID-Safe" We were taken to our table (upstairs) and it was clear that the staff were fully aware and compliant with the current rules around Covid-19.3 had the steak pie and I had the chicken burger. All of our food was simply delicious, nice and hot and there was plenty on the plate. None of us could fault anything! Such a treat in time swhere going out for us is far and few between.We will 100% be back for lunch in the future!Well done to all of the team at The Queen Inn.

We have now visited here a couple of times and already have plans to return, the food both times was gorgeous, highly recommend the steak pie and the gammon! The puddings are also amazing! We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy the outdoor seating on one of our visits, the atmosphere was lovely on a beautiful day in very nice surroundings. The staff are very attentive and also make you feel very safe given the current situation. Cant wait for our next visit.

Can’t recommend this place enough. Pub fair delivered expertly and, seemingly, effortlessly. Good range of food and drinks on offer from pub staples like burgers and fish & chips but also things like veggie roasts, steaks and sarnies. All in a beautiful setting with plenty of outdoor seating - well worth a visit.

We are on holiday to the area, and not knowing where to go for good food, we decided to eat here based on the great Trip Advisor reviews.The pub is lovely, lots of covid precautions too which was reassuring to see.The service was excellent and the food was delicious, and the child portions were just right our 6 year old.We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily recommend to anyone.

We have been several times and have never left disappointed. Great food (including tasty vegan and vegetarian options), lovely atmosphere and excellent attentive staff (big up to Will). Always seems popular so it’s best to book ahead. Oh, and they have a gorgeous lounge on the first floor where you can rest up with a drink and a book. Simply Perfect!

So, initially rang to confirm a table and was told there would be no choice of food, that they were only doing a tapas style, multiple small plate dinner. Was given a run down of what was being served.When we arrived we ordered & the waiter had to go back to the kitchen three times to confirm what was on the vegetarian/pescaterian plate.We were told different items from those we heard on the phone. When the food did come, there were at least two anomalies on each plate that were either not mentioned at all or not what we had been told at the time of ordering (actually the best sounding things as well).Fortunately, when mentioned they did take one plate off the bill.However, from what the waiters had said, they do this every Sunday (I assume to use up old ingredients). This is the main reason I am leaving a poor review, as I have been pooping through the eye of a needle and dry heaving all of today. It is not acceptable serving your patrons out of date food.I have a strong constitution when it comes to perhaps slightly questionable food as well, so have no doubt that what they were serving was not fit for consumption. Other than that, it does seem a nice place. Friendly & helpful staff and a reasonable price for the plates, as drinks were included.Just don't eat there on a Sunday.

A gorgeous family run village pub.We had lunch for my daughters18th birthday and it was delicious. We had starters, mains and desserts - no idea how we managed all 3 courses but each course was so good .... the cheese soufflé and the chocolate fondue deserve an extra special mention The owners took their time to make a fuss and their staff were so attentive and friendly. A visit is a must.

Fabulous food, massive plates- and excellent, warm service in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. The staff have met the challenges of these difficult times with an effective, professional approach, without compromising at all on their friendly, welcoming vibe and hospitality. I continue to be impressed with the Queen every time I visit, which will hopefully be again very soon.

My husband and I ate here tonight for the 1st time and we both said how good the food and service was. We were seated upstairs and there was plenty of room and tables well spaced. I had the souffle to start which was beautiful and my husband had the mushrooms which he said were the best he's had!. I then had fish and chips and my husband had the rib eye steak both cooked to perfection. The young man in charge was so nice very friendly and genuinely interested in how our meals were.We could not have asked for a better meal or service and have already re booked for the same time next week.

Wow - my daughter said to me as we left last night “that was so good we must leave a review” and I had been thinking just the same. We had a lovely evening meal whilst visiting the area. The welcome and service was excellent; warm, friendly and efficient. The ambience was great and the food was absolutely delicious. We shared cheese soufflé and prawn lollipops to start followed by amazing cheese & bacon burgers, scampi and Thai curry. We all just wished we’d had room for dessert! As a good ranked member. I give honest objective reviews. Just had a light meal / drink. in the queen pub corby Cumbria. Firstly the the spacing of customers tables was fine. Hand sanitizer available. Tables cleaned. But not chair fabric?. Covered Outside seating available all clean and tidy well spaced. Anyway good value deal. decent bottle of wine. And a light selection of taster food. Not fantastic but all ok. A different selection menu each Sunday after 4.pm at £20 for two. excellent value. Friendly. Good staff service. pleasant surroundings. Food could be warmer. The terrain was not great. but that apart. On this light meal menu. I can recommend a visit.

Went for drinks and dinner on just the second day of opening after lockdown.The food was fab. The staff were friendly and could not have done any more to make us feel safe with distancing and cleanliness measures. Thank you!

My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. What a beautiful pub that has been tastefully furnished and has open fires in a few of the bar /dining areas. The staff were very friendly and they served a good selection of drinks. We didn't eat there but what food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked really good as was the menu.We would try the food the next time we visit. The dining areas were busy and there was a good atmosphere.

A Traditional Countryside Pub in a Village setting. As as soon as you set foot in the door there is a warm welcome from the log fire and the friendly staff. We went as a family group for Sunday Lunch to celebrate Birthdays. On arrival we were shown to a family room for pre-lunch drinks having pre-ordered our meals for 16 people. The food consisted of a good variety of starters, followed by a choice of mainly Sunday Roast of Beef, Pork or Steak Pie with other choices available from an extensive Menu. The food was very filling and wholesome I had the mushroom starter and the Roast Pork which to my delight came with separate crackling and homemade Yorkshire Puddings. The meals were individually and competitively priced and good value. Following our meal we retired to the family room where we cut the Birthday cake with coffee/tea. My family had a great afternoon and nothing was too much trouble for the owners and staff who helped make our day. Only word of warning the portions are very generous so you had better be hungry before you start.

The staff was very good and friendly also service was good But meal was terrible I ordered a ribeye steak and it came with chunky chips Which was rubbish and stupid onion rings that was also rubbish all in all I would Not recommend this place to anyone So my advice to you all is NO NO NO you have been warned

The last time I visited The Queen Inn they were brewing over the road; they are now brewing next door and the beer is still as excellent. Lots of fireplaces lit on a chilly day were well received plus the sitting room up the back from the bar was very comfortable. Looking forward to my next visit.

I have tried several places in the area for Sunday lunch. I used to go to the Queens before it closed as lunch was good and the Staff were very god.I was told by a friend that the Queens was reopen and had good reviews. I decided to try The Queens again and on my first two visits lunch Sunday Lunch was good but vegetables could have been hotter. I went for Sunday Lunch two weeks ago so this was my third visit.When I went in I was seated in bar area where as before I was in Restaurant.I ordered lunch and was surprised it was placed in front of me 3 minutes later?The pork was tough, the vegetables were cold/luke warm and the the yorkshire pudding had luke warm gravy in it?No one asked me if the meal was ok.I left half of the meal as it was poor. When I went to pay I told the lady the meal was poor. I am sorry was all she said?The head waiter who asked many times if my meal was satisfactory on my previous visits never asked once this time?When he came into the bar and saw my plate with half the meal left he never asked if there was a problem with my meal and got rid off the plate straight away. As I left he said we will see you again and I said no you will not as the meal was terrible. No reply. Very poor meal. So back to Skitby where everything you get on the plate is hot.

Dined here a couple of nights ago with friends and it was excellent! Host was very attentive upon arrival and offered us a seat in the lounge area with drinks. We went in for all 3 courses, I starting with the prawn lollipops, followed by the gammon steak and finishing with a panna cotta and the meal did not disappoint! I will most certainly be back. Also a lovely setting for those who just want a drink!

This was our first visit since the pub re-opened, but it won’t be our last. The service from the waiting staff was friendly and helpful throughout. We had fish and chips for main course, it was well cooked and tasty. For dessert we had fruit crumble with custard which was delicious. The Corby Ale was excellent. Look forward to a return visit.

On strength if our last visit for Sunday lunch, we booked a table for 6 for dinner tonight. We were told the bar and restaurant menus would be available.

Under new management. This is the new place to go. From the initial phone call. to book a table the staff were friendly and professional.You can have a bar meal, in a friendly bar with local ales. Or you can choose to eat in the restaurant. There is a hidden lounge with fire, comfortable couches with a library if you wish to read a book and let the world go by while you relax (extra special touch).

The new management have swiftly made their mark here, the pub looks festive, the staff are excellent and look very smart and professional in their lovely uniforms. The menu is varied, the food delicious, the atmosphere friendly and welcoming, the service excellent. Thank you and we are looking forward to coming back soon.

Visited here on Easter Sunday with family and this village pub continues to deliver excellence time and time again.

Went with my daughters and granddaughter, never been before but we had a beautiful meal. One of my daughters are vegetarian and they gave her several options to choose from. Service was brilliant. Would highly recommend a visit here you won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I called in last Sunday for lunch. We hadn't been for years and were curious to check it out as we had recently heard good reports. We were certainly not disappointed. We both had the roast pork which was plentiful and delicious. A wonderful Sunday lunch. The experience was enhanced by the excellent service by Tracey on front of house and Nicola, the lady behind the bar. They were both very welcoming and professional and nothing was too much trouble. This is a lovely village pub with real ales and an open fire. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly go back.

My wife & I called in the 'Queens' Wednesday last for lunch, we were welcomed warmly & shown to our table, given our drinks & the menu's. I had the ham hock starter which was a good portion & very tasty, my wife had the soup which again was a good portion & tasty. On ordering my steak I requested fried onions instead of onion rings & my steak to be cooked medium rare, my steak was nearer rare than medium & the fried onions arrived as requested. My wife had the blade of beef which she said was very dry & needed more gravy, she had to leave some as it was too dry. On paying the bill (£56.34) I did not check it right away & when I did I found they had charged me £3 for the fried onions ( Disappointingly penny-pinching), I was not informed that the onions would be a extra charge when ordering. I have requested this at several places I have visited for lunch & have NEVER been charged extra. Needless to say I will not return!!

Hi Jeremy, The Miniature Schnauzer from Jeremy’s Paws reporting. Visited the Queen Inn for lunch today with my brother, Barney and Mum and Dad. We were all made to feel very welcome by the lady behind the bar. Dad loved the local beer which was well kept and we loved the bowl of water we were given which was very welcome after our walk. Great choice of food on the Lunch Menu and specials available too. Well worth a visit!

After many previous meals here we thought we’d try the new menu which reads really well. As ever the staff were lovely, very professional and welcoming and there’s always a nice atmosphere. The food was mixed this time which was disappointing as it’s at these prices it is a special night out. The prawn starter was nicely presented and tasty. The smoked salmon hot salad nicoise was a nod to a salad nicoise but interesting. The spinach and ricotta linguine was poor, an over cooked, stodgy bland dollop with no redeeming feature. I’d guess it had been prepared in advance, put in a bowl and microwaved before being upended on the plate. The staff responded very positively to the criticism once the problem was pointed out and were keen to make amends. It’s not easy to cook pasta al dente when away from an Italian restaurant cooking batches throughout the evening but if it’s on the menu a way should be found...... and the dish should be tasty.
