Good pub, personal service, nice food, good events and attention to detail. Wish it was walking distance from home, or that the wife didn’t like a drink too :)

We were staying in the next village for a few days holiday and visited the pub for two pleasant evenings. The staff were so welcoming as were the locals. There was a fantastic atmosphere and we very much enjoyed chatting to everyone, so much so we wish it was our local!!! We will definitely be revisiting for very reasonably priced drinks and food and look forward to sitting in the lovely garden in the summer. Many thanks to all for making us feel so very welcome.

Had a meal here on Saturday night and was very impressed, genuinely friendly pub, attentive staff, great food and a good selection of beers etc. Needs locals' support to maintain it's success and role in the community, would urge everyone to pop in for a beer or two and a bite to eat.

Wonderful pub, food & A* service! We have eaten at The Punchbowl several times and it never fails to disappoint. From the moment your walk through the door you are greeted with a very friendly and warm welcome from not only the staff but the locals aswell, making you feel right at home. There is a large selection of drinks to choose from, including soft drinks. The menu has something for everyone and all meals are homemade, high quality and served hot! The Sunday roast which we had yesterday was absolutely delicious. The roast beef was tender and cooked to perfection. We forgot to ask for one of the roasts to have just Cauliflower and not Cauliflower cheese but this was not a problem and the manager Paul changed this immediately with no trouble whatsoever. The deserts again were amazing! We decided to sit in the bar area instead of the restaurant which we really enjoyed and it had a buzzing atmosphere. Throughout our meal and time at the Punchbowl the staff were extremely helpful, kind and definitely put their customers needs first. We highly recommend this pub for both drinks and food. A family and dog friendly venue which we can't recommend enough and shall most definitely be returning too! One to visit if you have not been before.

Dined in this public house last night and was most impressed. The food was delicious, cooked with flair. The menu wasn't extensive, which I always think is a good thing, but it was varied and caters for a wide range of tastes. I was dining with friends and all our plates were wiped clean! The baked camembert as a starter was excellent, served with fresh, French bread and a homemade onion chutney. The main courses of seafood pancake, beef pie, ribs and ham, egg & chips were delicious and for a filling dessert - have the cheesecake, although the apple tart with ice cream went down well. The staff were very friendly, most helpful and there is a wide selection of drinks behind the bar. A little off the main road, it's well worth taking a trip out, but I suggest you book, and according to the menu, vegans may need to advise the chef in advance.

Really lovely food and great for a family event. A bit pricey for what it was, but the staff were so friendly and attentive. A really nice little country pub that should get more recognition.

During a short break at Ringshall Grange we visited the Punchbowl twice on consecutive days. First for afternoon drinks and snack for our whole group 17 adults and 12 kids (the cheesy chips rock!!); secondly for a family roast before heading home. The roast dinner was amazing. Both my wife and I had the beef and the kids had lamb / beef. The service was great and we were treated to an awesome local band playing in the other room. It was the perfect way to finish off a great weekend. Do call ahead to book a table here, it would be a great shame to miss this.

A big group of us went on Saturday lunchtime for some bits to eat and drinks, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. We pretty much had the whole dining area to ourselves, and were well looked after. Would highly recommend and come back if back in the area again.

Nice dinner - nice pub - very friendly - good service - but once again far too much money for a pub. Simple dishes at a price that makes you feel like going back is what I want from a village pub - this was my second visit after trying it some time ago and came away feeling same as I did before. Probably won't be back in a hurry !

Nestling in the lovely area of Suffolk is this old community pub The Punchbowl.. The staff are very welcoming and there is a decent choice menu plus a Specials Board. Prices are very reasonable. We found this pub by accident and called in for lunch.Food was good - we all had the pie of the day, which was steak and ale. Some more unusual dishes on the menu as well as normal pub meals. They even offer a curry or fish and chip meal to take-away! The landlord has only been there for a few months and has introduced jazz on the first Sunday of each month and has other changes to put into place too.

Beautiful historic pub in a beautiful part of the Suffolk countryside. Really friendly staff & locals who loved to chat telling me the history of the pub, (which is a community pub so definitely worth your support) the local area & gossip. Food looked fantastic too but was too busy drinking the great selection of local beers. Really worth the visit.

As a local to this pub I have wanted to support the community effort. I have visited the restaurant on several occasions and each time it seems to have taken a step back in it's capabilities. The last meal I had will probably be the last time I visit the restaurant. It started badly with a bowl of 'broccoli & stilton soup' which came out as a bowl of whitish water, I even asked if it was definitely that soup. I couldn't taste the stilton and there were only a few morsels of broccoli at the bottom of the bowl. Worst of all it was very expensive.

This was a strange and surprisingly brilliant experience. This is a community run pub and was rescued from developers and the like by a few diehard local enthusiast and it has worked. It’s tricky to find and seems to be in the middle of very rural Suffolk, but it’s worth the research. Everything about it just seems right for a local pub/restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and the greeting but the bar staff, who were unpaid volunteers, was very friendly. Despite a busy bar they had time to chat and make you feel welcome. Drinks, which were far from London prices, were prompt and faultless. The menu for the restaurant was varied and could suit all tastes. Our party of four all chose different items and some from the daily specials board. The food was served promptly and it was faultless. My main course was Steak & Ale pie, and for once it was not of the instant ‘bolt it together’ variety. Delicious, good quality steak with a rich strong gravy and quality veg. After a starter and main course we were too full for the ‘afters’ but there was a good selection. Coffee was served by our A* student waitress, who provided a seamless, discreet, and friendly service throughout. None of our group could find fault and we are keen to return to try the Sunday Lunch menu. Well done Punchbowl lets hope the standard maintains.

My wife and I have eaten at lunch time and in the evening and always found the food excellent We have always had a good welcome from both the staff and customers. We have also dined with friends in a group of 10 and the service was very efficient. The food is locally sourced where possible and always freshly cooked. There is a selection of wines at reasonable prices, and I rate the beer as some of the best in the area.

Well, the Tripadvisor reviews certainly got this one right! We (three adults and two children) called in to Regatta Restaurant for lunch and, although we didn’t have a reservation, it was midweek and not overly busy so we managed to get a table. We had a wonderful meal with brilliant service from Alex who was so pleasant, smiley and incredibly patient. We ordered three starters, tiger prawns for me, which I’d describe as a deconstructed prawn cocktail, duck bon bons for my daughter and son-in-law to share and a child’s cheesy garlic bread. I’m not a big fan of duck but the bon bons looked delicious and, by all accounts, they were, as were my tiger prawns. For mains, my daughter and I both had dressed crab (I can never resist crab) with salad whilst my son-in-law was extremely adventurous with fish and chips! We all enjoyed our food and I can honestly say that the crab was perfect. There is a very good, and reasonably priced, children’s menu; one of the children had mini fish ‘n’ chips whilst the other one had homemade chicken nuggets and chips and, again, they were very good quality. Whenever I see chicken nuggets on a menu, I think of the sort of McDonalds rubbish that is devoid of any nutritional value but these were proper chicken and far superior! A mini chocolate brownie for one of the children plus a couple of drinks (non-alcoholic variety) completed the meal. The courses were well paced and we never felt rushed, despite the children being a bit crabby at times! Service was perfect (thank you Alex) and, at £105.25, it was excellent value too.
