The Pudding Stop in St Albans

I went in for my treat after long day at work. Ordered one full size of waffle with blueberries and maple syrup. Plus one latte! It was the best : ))) the warm maple syrup does make it even more delicious. Good coffee, friendly staff, warm welcome atmosphere. They open until 8pm and 10.30pm on Friday and Saturday night so what not to like about this place. Good local business. I highly recommend this place to everyone 5* xxx:)))

been coming here for years, food is always amazing and the staff are super friendly too. We moved out of the area but travel back now and then to get their treats they're so good!

The food here is absolutely delicious! There's a great selection of cakes and desserts! The seating area is quite small but didn't have to wait long for a seat. The service was really quick, and the food was worth the short wait. I'm definitely going to be back!

Best food ever, definitively coming again

Good desserts, but unfortunately a latte made with oat milk was extremely sour even with 3 packets of sugar. The barista kindly made another coffee but it was still quite sour and I had to leave it. Not sure if it's the coffee or the oat milk but another reviewer had a similar experience. Kids loved their brownies though.

When you are happy to drive 1h or more for cakes - that’s the pudding stop 😍

What a gem! There is a queue outside this place for a reason. Everything i have tried so far from here has been absolutely delicious. Worth every calorie.

We go there often because we love the cakes but usually do take away. We wanted to sit down for once and had a nice sweet pudding but unfortunately we were kicked out because we had a dog with us. It is shame you are not dog friendly environment. We were very disappointed and left even without taking anything away.

So overrated, custard doughnut just tasted like egg and nothing else. Not for me

Always great cakes and helpful service. Just wish the owners would give the staff a decent tray to carry stuff outside. They had to go back and forth so much that drinks cooled before they reached us or cakes arrived to have with.

I love the desserts here. Delicious coffee and hot chocolate Sometimes you may have to wait to find a seat. but believe me It's worth ordering warm desserts to eat in.

I've just had the worst coffee here at your place, what bothers me is that I didn't have the guts to say it was bad and paid £3.5 for nothing.

Some delicious pastry and brownies, one of the best I’ve ever tried, woow. The stuff we’re really lovely and helpful to explain what everything was. They even have bake yourself small tray of brownies and ice cream you can buy. If your in and around the area, give them a try, worth it.

Love the concept of a place that only does dessert. We went out for a meal and when I st Alban's it's a tradition that we stop here for pudding. They also do takeaway which is great Haven't tried the coffee as it's usually late in the day when I go

Best chocolate croissant I have ever enjoyed! They warm it just perfectly. The staff serve with a smile and enjoy what they do.

Wow. Best pain au chocolate. Crisp crunchy croissant dough, salty and butter with big chunks of dark chocolate. Great coffee. Soft custard in the Nata with crisp pastry, crunchy toffee laden blondies. A must stop.

Whaaaooo!! A little gem to satisfy your sweet cravings or weekend indulgences! Loved the Butterscotch Brownie, Strawberry Compote & Pistachio Icecream and the Carrot Cake with the Americano. Missed trying the hot fresh puddings, but there’s always a next time.

Thought I would give this spot a seeing as it was rated very high . Menu was very basic , half the items on there where not even available and considering the menu was very basic and it was a Saturday I expected better and I would also say its overpriced because the desserts are nothing special the cookie dough was almost half the size of a regular one from Creams.

Visited the St Albans shop to sit down for a coffee. Been here many times but it's not as good as it used to be. Coffee had a strange, metallic taste, staff replaced it but second one was the same. Waffle was very heavy and dense and soft, not light and crispy as they should be. Staff said they make waffles and pancakes with the same batter which it shouldn't be. Waffles with blueberries means literally a dry waffle with a tiny bowl of fridge-cold blueberries, no syrup or anything unless you pay extra, not even bog standard butter. Their doughnuts are luckily still the best.

Got served by the lovely blonde girl with a fringe amazing service helped me choose something for my cousins birthday absolutely loved the Eton mess donut she recommended

Really lovely little spot for some dessert or tea and coffee. Had their coffee milkshake - WOW!!! I'm still thinking about it now. My son had their pistachio ice cream- very rich and creamy. Love the outside seating too!

This place is a waste of time. Expensive, poorly presented iced latte. Staff look like they can’t wait to get home. Need to up their game else it won’t last.

Unfortunate that a place known for pastries and coffee doesn’t open until nearly noon. Very overpriced coffee beans.

Tbh should of written this years ago . Omg they make the best brownies ever , this is my go to place when I want a sweet treat or if I’m cheering myself up . All there desserts are amazing

Absolutely spectacular and delicious lemon meringue pie for my husband’s 50th. All neatly packaged and ready for me when I went to collect it from the store. Outstanding customer service too!! Five stars all round!

Very tasty baked cookie dough with salted caramel ice cream and Jersey cream. Have to deduct one star for the slightly sour latte but would definitely visit again.

Over the last few years, whenever we have been in St Albans, we have always visited the Pudding Stop for their amazing doughnuts and brownies. The doughnuts were the best we had ever eaten and we have always told people to visit here when in St Albans. We have just been again after a years break and have to say we are so disappointed. As soon as we picked the doughnuts up, we could tell that things had changed. Gone was the lovely heavy doughnut full of custard. Yes, the custard is still yummy but now they are like a supermarket doughtnut with very little filling. Before, with every bite, custard would ooze out. Now, most of it is just plain doughnut until you find the small section with custard. The nutella doughnut was exactly the same. Such a shame. The brownies are still delicious though.

The doughnuts were good but not a fan of the other puddings/desserts. I found them all too rich and stodgy. To be fair it could be an age thing as my granddaughter was much more positive about the shop.

The cookie 🍪 dough is great. It is amazing to have a beautiful latte art coffee.

The vegan chocolate brownie was amazing, will definitely go back. They also do a chai/coffee latte mix which was nice and original.

We've been to this place numerous times bringing friends and we all enjoyed the food, drink, ambience and service. Price is higher than average however their food is pretty special. We've also ordered take-aways and indulge ourselves at home. Highly recommend.

I love the pudding stop but do find everything very sweet. Would love if there were a few options that were a bit less sugary!

If you go this winter you have to have their cherry pie it's the best pie I've ever had. Their chia milkshake is also incredible.

Tried out a very good pecan pie and hot chocolate. Was not disappointed!

I'm sure it was Oscar Wilde that said if you have to queue for pudding then you're on to a winner and the Pudding Stop doesn't disappoint! Brimming with effin good cakes/pastries that will delight your taste buds, and clog arteries at the same time. Not cheap but really top offerings, definitely recommend. Be prepared to stand in line though as the masses have cottoned on.

Great place with great desserts and sweet bakes. I always get lost in the great range of bakes they sell. My fav is perhaps the salted peanut butter chocolate brownie, the cinnamon swirl and the seasonal vulcano cake.

Very tasty and unique desserts - first time I've a cornflake flavoured ice cream but it was very nice! Also had a bit of the pecan pie which was delicious

Excellent place for pudding! I was so impressed and satisfied with my brownie. Pros: - Amazing and rich brownie ( I got the triple layer one) - Fair prices, especially for the size of the brownies - I like that there was cookie dough that you can buy there. I didn’t buy it this time, but maybe next time! Cons: - There wasn’t a lot of seating. We were lucky to grab a seat but others were not so lucky. - My friend got the salted caramel sauce for her brownie and it was a little too salty for her, but that may just be her preference.

The vegan brownies are absolutely gorgeous

The vegan brownies at this place are to die for. I would happily travel a long way to get one. By far the best vegan sweet treat I can think of. Quick, friendly service too.

Always a go-to spot for a cappuccino and baked goods. Take everyone I know here when I visit the south.

We loved this place so much, we went twice and our son and fiance' went 3 times. He is gluten intolerant and they offer GF desserts, so he was in heaven. The rest of us had different each time we went, and nothing disappointed!

Always a fan of the brownie here and service has always been The Pudding Stop's strong suit despite it being quite a popular spot. A brown curly haired individual was very professional and very personal and made to it that I felt looked after despite it being busy.

Best place for desserts in the area. They make really good cakes. It's always busy but definitely worth it.

They do a great gluten free brownie and coffee. If recommend stopping by on a Sunday morning. The Redbourn Pudding Stop is where all the lovely cakes etc are baked, but is opened up on a Sunday morning to customers. Outside seating only is provided. I like to go after my Sunday morning bike ride😁

Lovely little shop with friendly staff. Food tastes fantastic but dropped 1 star because I thought the menu choice was a little limited. Shop is a bit on the small side but they are accommodating when visiting with children offering us high chairs.

Great homemade traditional desserts that are very tasty and some lovely ice cream. I love the fior di latte ice cream is extremely creamy and tasty. I also highly recommend the crumble and the bakewell tart.

Great place to get your pudding fix. The place is pretty busy, but their service is pretty quick. There’s not a huge amount of seating inside, but there is some outdoor seating which is great when the weather is nice.

This place was amazing, it was a little chilly inside however the place was very clean and tidy. The food was just amazing, the doughnuts where nice and not too sweet. The custard tart was okay. The latte was okay however a bit too strong. The shakes were just lovelyyy. And the coconut white hot chocolate was lovely a little too sweet. The cheesecake just perfect the waffle as well. The cinnamon bun was quite decent but quite sweet. Overall this place was just amazing, the staff were lovely, I will recommend coming here and ordering as there's won't be any disappointment

Stopped here when I was staying in St Albans. It was lovely, a really nice experience all round with a good ambience and a real emphasis on looking after customers. Served by a really nice man called Tom, who was patient with me and my gran and went out of his way to look after us! 5 stars

I went to Pudding stop on a late quiet Monday afternoon. I have not been in two years and they have definitely had a refurbishment which I'm not a fan of grey and white blah! The staff were pleasant. I had the Apple and Blackberry crumble cake which was light and tasty and reminded of my school days. The Macinato was perfect. I like the fact they have vegan options as well.

Yummy food. There is a small choice for those who follow a GF diet. That said, why would you look beyond the waffles? Pots of tea are tiny. The premises is small, so one feels crammed in. Overall would recommend.

Husband and I decided to visit The Pudding Stop this afternoon. We have been once before several years ago, but will never visit again! There was a slight queue for take-away, but a couple of tables were empty. We were told where to sit, and a staff member started to wipe the table clean and was huffing and puffing as if we were an inconvenience to his day. After this we were simply left alone and we waited and we waited. Twenty minutes later, we were still waiting! No-one came to take our order and if we were meant to order at the counter we definitely weren’t told to! There were 3 members of staff there and not one sone of them acknowledged us. In the end, we got up and left. When we told the person behind the till how appalling the service was, she simply shrugged her shoulders and didn’t care. We went up the road to Gail’s and received excellent service and a delicious cake!

Came for dessert and it was amazing Cookie dough is great Brownie is okay but the cookie dough is amazing!

Everything is to die for! Each month’s special pudding is better than the previous one. Never disappoints!

This carrot cake was sensational🤤 It would be unfair not to mention a few of my other favourites which I often return for - the white chocolate and raspberry blondie, the Portuguese tart and the vegan slutty brownie.
