Excellent table service from Mike for our party of 4 and the food choices were perfectly cooked by chef Alex. Pub was quiet, as we attended on a Monday, but I can imagine it can be a vibrant place at weekends.

Consistently excellent food, service and drink every time we visit at a very reasonable price.

Took advantage of 30% voucher offer and went to The Plough to sample the menu. Food was very nice and young waiter named Ethan looked after us very well. Will return again in future to sample other items on the menu. Atmosphere was very nice and cosy.

We had a small 80th birthday meal with a few balloons and cake with candles. The waitress made us feel special, and was friendly and efficient. She brought out the cake with candles lit, just at the right time. It was a lovely afternoon for us all. So thank you.

Met my family here for lunch. I hadn't been for a few years ( used to work nearby) and was pleased to see it was thriving. The food was nice and the service was prompt. Unfortunately, I didn't note the name of our waitress but she was lovely - very nice to my Grandchildren. So happy to see a well run pub with lots of customers.

Atmosphere was great as was the food and waiter.

Tuesday evening visit for dinner, laid back service that was just the right pace, and delicious fish main meals from the regular menu

The server seated us, handed us the menus and told us they had finished serving Sunday Lunch, which was helpful, although at 8pm on Sunday night, I hadn’t expected they would still be serving it. We studied the menu. I fancied the Steak and Ale pie. When she came to take our order, she said they had run out of this item. The only 2 tables present when we arrived were finished, or nearly so, so it hadn’t gone since we arrived. Don’t you hate choosing something that appeals then being told that it is unavailable? We ordered our food and drinks. The drinks only arrived just before our meal, some 15 minutes later. Odd, when no one else was waiting to be served food or drink in the restaurant. The food was reasonable pub grub. My mushroom and chicken pie had nice crisp pastry. There was no need to provide a little jug with more gravy as plenty had been put on the meal already – I’d prefer to do this myself. The veg and mash wouldn’t win any prizes, and weren't as good as I would do at home, but they were ok. We had a “30% off mains” voucher and at the price we paid, I’d probably give 4 stars. But at the full price, which most people will pay most of the time, it feels closer to 3 stars.

Came in valentines day with my girlfriend and was welcomed straight away by one of the staff.from then on the service was amazing and quality of food would put gordon ramsey to shame and the staff was very friendly.i will come again

Supper last night with two friends at The Plough in Whitchurch. Food was absolutely superb! My chicken Caesar salad was absolutely delicious! We were served by Mike and his team and the service was excellent! Friendly and happy staff and they make all the difference. Thank you Mike so much for a lovely evening. Look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Had a fantastic experience at the plough for our dinner. Poped in without booking and was accommodated even tho bit was busy. Everyone was so nice and the food was delicious.

Tasty food, great service! A lovely pub to lunch in, much bigger inside then it looks. Had the chicken kebab and my husband had the fish. Neither dish disappointed.

It feels really sad to be writing this as we’ve been frequenting the Plough for many years however, the standard of service has determinate to such a level that it’s no longer an enjoyable place to socialise anymore. There is rarely more than one member of staff on at any time covering 2 separate bars. It’s also clear that the staff need more training in customer service. There are always peaks and troughs in any business but acknowledging people who are waiting and a little multitasking can go a long way. Alas this is not the case. The single member of staff who has served on a number of occasions recently appears oblivious to anything other than the specific activity she is undertaking. The decline in service may well be a symptom of Marston’s taking over from Brains and I hope that the manager is relaying this appropriately to the main office but regardless of the reasons, we work hard and look forward to relaxing and spending time with friends in a social environment and this simply isn’t the case when visiting the Plough over the last few months in particular.

Visited The Plough tonight with a friend for dinner. The service we recieved from CJ was exemplary . He was friendly, professional with nothing too much trouble for him. Very attentive but not intrusive. A lovely young man an asset to the team

Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Staff made you feel very welcoming and were very accommodating. The food was top notch. I had the hunters chicken, and my friend had the chicken pie both were fantastic. For desert we had the brownie Sunday and chocolate brownie. Highly recommend it. Can’t wait to go back!

We booked a table for 2 to dine only a couple of hours before - and on arrival we were told that they had reservations at all tables that evening, and we were shown to a fairly decent table, so we were quite glad we booked. Lovely food and drinks. The girl (waitress) was back and for too often though asking how our food was just after 2 minutes and asking if we needed more drinks when we still had 3 quarters of a pint each, and when we had finished our meal, after only 1 hour and 10 minutes after arrival we felt obliged to leave as she kept asking do we want the bill. The booking was actually for 2 hours (as standard) and we asked for the bill and then left even though we would have preferred to stay on for at least another half hour. Half the tables were empty at this point - and so it wasn't as if they needed the table. I we spent as much time talking to her as we did each other during the visit. Myself and my husband decided to go for a meal as we had a lot of things to discuss and away from the hustle and bustle of the house - however with the girl back and for every 5 minutes this was difficult. No complaints regarding the food or drinks etc.

Never ever experienced such poor hospitality. Waited an hour for food and almost as long for drinks . Most of the side orders didn't arrive with meal - and too late to be wanted

We were looking for a tasty Sunday roast and as we were in the area decided on the Plough. It was 4pm. The only meat left was beef so we went with that. What a mistake. The beef was tough and gristly, the Yorkshire pudding do dry it was like cardboard, the meal swam in gravy which was “gel like”, the meal was just warm, the only hot part were the peas. I told the waitress who said she’d tell the kitchen, but either she didn’t or they weren’t bothered! I shall never, ever go there for a roast again it was AWFUL ! And at £15.50 a head it was over priced for a very poor meal. I enjoy eating out snd am happy to pay for quality but this was anything but.

Terrible evening, half the menu not available, then couldnt order main meals as no chips available! Ordered starters in hope and anticipation of chips arriving! Chips arrived; nonfush available, no chicken available, apart from curry but no rice available. So steaks ordered, cooked medium, arrived absolutely sacrificed/ burnt & chewy! The poor server, Ethan was left apologising to every table when it was all out if his control. A disastrous birthday meal, will never return!

Staff as attentive as possible but had to work really hard to achieve this as they were understaffed. Food was delicious despite there being two fryers down in the kitchen resulting in a reduced menu there was plenty of choice and all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Will certainly be returning and would recommend to friends and family

Birthday meal, some difficulties due to food stock resulted in alot of stress for the serving staff, who under the circumstances managed it in a very professional and courteous manner. A number of dishes unavailable and over cooked steak added to a disappointing meal but the staff did their very best to appease all diners. Will probably return but will check all food is available before sitting down!

Food was delicious and even better service from Vicki - funny, chatty and a great waitress - we'll definitely be back!!

First time eating here but certainly won’t be the last. Food amazing. Had one of the specials of the day for main course (chicken) and it was outstanding. Service great, not rushed. Highly recommend, will be back!

Had been working all day and didn’t manage to get here til 6.15pm. Rang in advance and they confirmed they were still doing Sunday Roast. Only Turkey and Pork left due to late in day but the Turkey was delicious. Came with a great selection of vegetables: roast spuds, parsnip, peas, red cabbage, mangetout. Other Trimmings: Stuffing and Yorkshire, cranberry sauce. I ordered cauliflower cheese as well. Had the Banoffee ice cream cake with caramel sauce for desert. Excellent. Service was excellent too. Best eating out experience I’ve had in a while. Top marks.

I loved everything about my lunch today. I had the pan roasted chicken for main and the chicken tenders for the starter. Both were absolutely lovely! Perfect sized meals and tasted amazing. I highly recommend this pub , lovely staff , amazing food and great price.

Busy place great atmosphere and allowed dogs in - but don't cater for diabetics...coke on the pump only and that's full of sugar from the syrup s. For your information the diet cokes on the pump contains aspartame these are really bad for T1 diabetes.

Popped in for coffee while out walking our dog. Charity bake sale on, delicious vegan chocolate cake. Friendly atmosphere and cosy setting. Very helpful and friendly waitress Eva went out of her way to bring us everything we needed. Will definitely be back.

Called to the plough this evening to try out the new menu. We had the sea bass which was delicious and the signature burger… again delicious. There is always a warm welcome, lovely relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. Well done to our server Eva, chef chez and Mike!

Lunch with friends, relaxing atmosphere, lots of menu choices and specials, but we all decided on the lasagne which was delicious.

I love this place, the food was amazing and the open fires and the warm welcome makes it impossible to want to leave. Staff are all friendly and inviting.

Had such a wonderful experience here, my husband had the fish which was lovely and I had the cheken skewers. We were sat in front of the open fires which just made the atmosphere so cosy. I highly recommend this place.

We visited the restaurant yesterday evening Friday 19th. We were greeted at the bar initially for drinks. We then we’re seated by a warm cosy open fire. We then ordered food. The food is probably the best we have had within our local village of pubs. It was stunning and most definitely will be coming back with our friends next week. The service was great too. Thankyou.

Came here with my disabled mum and, to get through the front doors, you have to press a button at the entrqce and wait quite a long time for someone to come with temporary ramps to get you in. All credit to the member of...

A warm fire and attentive hosts made our visit very comfortable. Our food was tasty, well cooked, and reasonably priced. It came very quickly after being ordered, which was greatly appreciated by our toddlers. Thank you Caitlin and Sylvia.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The fire was lit so it was warm and cosy. The perfect setting for a winter's meal. The Duo of Beef was perfectly cooked and delicious. The Plough is one of our favourites for food.

We stopped by on a cold Monday night and weren't too hungry, so we just had a shared starter for 2 with a side salad and side of chilli chips. The food was fresh, tasty, well displayed and filling. Highly recommend. We did not have to wait long and they lit a real fire in the front lounge. Would visit again.
