Staff very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the food let them down. I had the cottage pie and have to say that it fell far short of expectations. Vegetables practically raw and pie itself not browned on top. My friend had the salmon and his comments echo mine. It fell very short of expectations.

Great pub, awesome location if you are walking the dog first, drinks are expensive though, we paid £16 for two drinks! Ouch! They have brought back the mixed grill on the menu, I will return to try it, as before it was taken off of the menu after Covid it was the best mixed grill in Surrey!

Arranged to meet with a friend last Monday at 19.30, ordered a pint each to be told 15 mins later at 19.45 you need to drink up we are closing in 5 minutes…what a joke, don’t bother going, this pub many years ago was great, not much hope the latest owners are going to change for the better, the garden is falling apart and has rubbish dumped in it like old tv Ariel’s - a sad demise of what was a very successful public house. Don’t bother

My husband and I looking forward to spot of lunch. However no Roasts, never mind! I opted for pie and mash and husband has a burger chops. When it arrived the chips were greasy and cold. My pie was chicken veg in dish with mash on top (not pie and mash I expected, was hoping for pastry...) also drinks very expensive

Well done to The Plough for their Oktoberfest '23 - they made a real effort and the bands were excellent (especially the latter two for our age group). Maybe you could promote the event more for the evening part as the bands deserved more people in attendance.

Always been a great little place. Now under new management, I think they are finding thier feet a little, they had problems with some of the food and had run out of both food and drink items including such things as diet coke and orange juice. I hope they find their way soon and wish them all the best. However, the price point of the food means that we will be unlikely to go there to eat on a regular basis.

Having heard the pub had changed hands, my husband and I went for Sunday lunch at the weekend. We were disappointed. The menu was different than that on the website. Pork roast was mediocre, meat fatty & gristly. Warm chicken salad was very non inspired. We won’t go again till we hear there’s been a marked improvement.

Went in on Easter weekend and sat in the garden, which tbf is nice. The landlord didn't like us moving some chairs to get more around the table, made a big show of thinking through the reservations before he said it was ok (there ended up only being 3 other tables occupied whilst we were there) Then another member of staff came out a bit later and pointlessly moved cusions around whilst she kept an eye on us. In addition we couldn't have cucumber in a G&T because.. "It's all for the salad". Just a bit odd all round and did not feel welcome at all. Having said that, they have some good beers/ ales on and food has been ok when eating there before.

I have been twice, as there isn't much else in the area and the first time was more or less OK. The second time though, my word... Goes to show you that if you have an historic building with a big garden you have a licence to print money. But it would be nice if they put half the effort into looking after their beer that they do into trying to outdo other venues in terms of overzealous Covid rules.

I was so excited that the Plough was reopening as I’ve enjoyed many happy times there in the past. We had our pre-wedding drinks there in 2016 and enjoyed a lovely day there the day after too. Sadly today our visit was not enjoyable. On a lovely warm spring day we were basically given a table inside a shed. We asked to be moved and we were told that all the other tables were booked. (Why was I less important than any of the other tables???). When I mentioned that I had not been asked when I booked if I wanted to be in the sun or not the reply was ‘we didn’t know it was going to be sunny’. We then got moved to a better table but it was a shame there was so much fuss about it. The service from then on was poor, we had to keep asking for things and we were not treated like we were welcome at all. I had to apologise to my friend who had travelled down from London to visit our ‘lovely’ local pub. When we left there were still tables available in the sun, why couldn’t we have been allocated one of those in the first place? I have told my family and friends who live nearby about my experience. I always give places leeway especially at difficult times like this but our experience was so bad I will not be visiting again anytime soon. What a shame. I felt like they had absolutely no interest in us being there.

Have been a regular to this pub for over 10 years and enjoyed a visit on first day of lockdown being lifted for pubs. The landlords, dave and Emma have worked hard adhering to the social distance rules and everything was in place.I have heard that a few pubs have not taken the same safety advice,, so basically if you want a drink in a safe environment, then this is the place. This is a great pub. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed with the food, or the friendliness of the staff. I booked my father’s 90th birthday lunch here, and the staff really helped make it a special occasion. We were with a group of very elderly people and it took a while for everyone to settle and order their food. The staff were incredibly patient and understanding. It is not the first time I have experienced outstanding service here. The atmosphere is always relaxed and friendly, and the food is never a disappointment.

When I was working we often had "board" meetings in this pub. Sadly returning after 10 years, the standard of food has dropped considerably. There was no atmosphere as the pub was empty, something I have never experienced before on a Saturday lunchtime in over FIFTY YEARS of eating out.Whilst the food was not inedible Paying £76 for 4 beers and 4 courses and a rather doubtful sorbet was expensive given the standard.Having eaten out 2 days previously at a pub only 6 miles away and having paid 80% less albeit for only 2 people for a meal that was 100% better, I feel that this pub has lost its way and needs new motivation.

But in a group of 6, we ordered food at around 7.30, had starters after a bit of a wait and didn't get mains until 9pm. It seemed like they just didn't have enough staff. Visited for a 12pm lunch 31.12.19. Both food and service were poor. Unclear whether it's table service or bar ordered.I ended up going to the bar. Three people ordered a beef lasagne, a steak & ale pie & a hunters chicken. The pub wasn't busy. The food arrived & the lasagne was still frozen in the middle, despite the server describing it as 'chilled'. It wasn't, it was still very solid & was sent back.We were told it'd be brought back out when it had been cooked properly.I asked the waitress if she'd felt how 'chilled' it was as she seemed so disbelieving; she said 'yes',so I asked if they were now sending a new one after she'd stuck her finger in it & the initial response was 'no'! A replacement was ordered. The steak & ale pie was also sent back as it was barely warm & full of gristle, not meat. It was inedible,& a sandwich was ordered instead. The hunters chicken was as tough as old boots, yet not returned as the diner was too reluctant. She later wished she had returned it,& said as much when the replacement food turned up an age after it had been ordered & well after she'd finished hers, resulting in us all eating at different times. The replacement lasagne was still a disappointment & of such poor quality the diner gave up.The pub should be ashamed of serving such dishes,& it really spoilt the last afternoon of the year,& old friends catching up.We were offered desserts which we definitely didn't want if that was the standard of food, & drinks that we neither wanted or needed; most were driving & had a relatively full glass of something soft in front of us anyway. Although the food was removed from the bill we were still chased to pay for 2 soft drinks & a small wine. I wouldn't have minded had the server seemed genuine in her apology, but the general demeanour didn't come across as if she cared. She gave the impression she was neither shocked nor sorry. I wouldn't consider eating here again,& I'd urge others to think twice too if this is normal. This used to be my Grandad's favourite pub & local, so it's a huge shame. It was a really rubbish way to end the year.

I have been here in July and the food was great but the staff looked miserable. But we put this to one side and re-visited in December for lunch with colleagues. Bar staff were rude, grunted at me to hurry up because I had to keep asking girls what they wanted in the way for food and drink. The pub was not busy so it wasn't that we were holding up a queue! I can not fault the food, it was lovely. Then a colleague turned up with a 7 week old baby (baby in arms) and a female staff member ran over and 'shouted' you can't come in here, no children under any circumstances are allowed in here under the age of 10. We pointed out the baby was asleep and it was a baby in arms, no push chairs, no crying, no mess, no running around, it hardly would be attempting to cause problems. The RUDE staff said, I don't care you can go in the garden, no children mean not children. She was so abrupt and rude, shouting in a loud voice of others to hear. It is such a shame as this pub is a community pub, a pub in an area where a school, church, local nursery is, yet they are not welcoming to where they are. HOWEVER, we watched a dog walker come in with a very muddy dog, who was allowed in the pub, the dog shook and we we saw water matter splash off him, and then the owner allowed the dog to sit on the seats, the staff did not mention to him that HUMANS will need to sit on there. This pub serves food and allows this to happen. Shocking. Ethics of this pub is all wrong. Out of principle I will never come back to this pub, nor will I recommmend it to our clients that in the past we have always recommended the pub. Shame on you plough staff, maybe learn some effective communication, smile and work with the community. I have to give you one star but to be honest I would not award this if I could.
