Went to the Plough for the first time in a few years tonight. Food used to be pretty basic but they've got a new head chef with a new menu recently and the food was amazing! Best mushroom risotto I've ever had and I've had a few. Service was great as well with a mixologist behind the bar!

Cracking pub in St John's Redhill. This pub has a great British boozer feel to it, cosy, nice people, good traditional food. Great local community feel to it, where everyone is always welcomed. Keep an eye out for live music. Always loved the look and warmth of this pub. Decent pint of Guinness as well.

Have been going to this pub for years and haven’t been since it changed owners. Sad to say a pub on my door step i wont be going back to. Terrible service, waited ages to be served as the kids behind the bar had no clue what day it was. Such a shame as I use to adore this pub :(

Real shame. Web menu bears no resemblance to what is available at the pub, pub menu bears little resemblance to what is available on the day. Tables full of uncollected glasses, outside area shabby and dirty. Staff tried hard and were polite but were ultimately lacking in basic serving skills. Drinks were ok, food was mediocre and over priced. New landlord has been there a year, has taken the pub backwards.

A disaster from the start, only 3 items on menu scampi, burger or sandwiches. Bar staff whilst personable didn't do anything to fill you with confidence. Meals delivered with no cutlery, no mayo, or tartar sauce. Then, 30 minutes to pay and no explanation of the charge was calculated

This used a be a really nice place for lunch, but not any more. Despite booking a table for 8 in the garden area there was no table laid up, and we had to move 2 tables together ourselves. Lack of food available, as per previous review. When the food did come it came one plate at a time, with no cutlery. One of the group went into get cutlery, so that those who were lucky enough to have their food could eat it while it was hot. At no time were we offered any more drinks or coffee and the dirty plates weren't cleared away. So sad to see this pub in decline.

What an awful experience. Eight members of my book group had booked for lunch. On arrival we were told that there was limited food. This was on a Wednesday...their 'reason' ...they'd had a very busy weekend and sold out of food and that their food order had not been delivered! On the previous Friday I attended with a friend....to be told the same reason....this time...there was no oil, so therefore no fried food, including chips..ah hem .. there's a shop down the road which sells cooking oil and cucumber which was also not available. Back to my book group visit....only food available was burger and chips or scampi and chips or sandwiches... also no mayonnaise, tartare sauce or lemon! One very dirty glass added to the experience. The staff members however were super polite and quick to serve....felt sorry for them. Confusion at payment time too..but after much chat back and forth including an input for one of the managers on the phone.,we were given a discount on our bill....too little too late. What has appened to this one time thriving, ecletic, enjoyable, pub with a great menu...won't be back.

We had a very lovely dinner here this evening in the beautiful garden - the most perfect place to relax and eat with a loved one or friends/family - I get the impression that everyone is welcome here and the whole venue has an inclusive and laid back energy. Every aspect of the service was excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Tamara, who took time to ask for feedback and showed a genuine interest in customer satisfaction. A particular highlight food-wise were the mussels: the bisque was completely delicious. The pork belly and beef noodles also deserve an honourable mention. We will most certainly be back. Thank you for having us.

Really nice pub. Has an intimate feel to it. The beer is really good, good selection of ales. Been there a few times for drinks, haven't eaten yet but I heard the food is good. Also been there for a live music event which was really good fun. The only downside to that is that there is only one toilet (one per gender) so on a busy day, there is a long queue. Also, the wait to be served was 15-20 minutes during the live music event. Although they had 4 bar staff plus 2 collecting and cleaning glasses, there is not enough space behind the bar for that many people. Maybe they need to find an alternative for those busy times. But the bar staff is always nice in there.

We’ve always loved popping to The Plough for lunch in their lovely garden. The service was friendly and welcoming as usual and we were well looked after. Unfortunately, the food quality doesn’t match with the price. The chips are really good and seemed handcut and freshly cooked. However, the batter on the fish and chips was so thick there was barely any fish, and the beef burger was very undercooked in the middle and had no flavour, not of beef or seasonings. We were really disappointed and it cost over £40 for these plus two lemonades!

My family and I hosted my mums life celebration at the Plough in April. We used the reading room for food, the right hand side of the pub and bar and the outside pagoda. We were so lucky with the weather as the sun shone brightly afternoon and we had a wonderful send off for my mother. The Plough is a special building and garden anyhow, but Tamara and her team went the extra mile to really make sure the day was as special as possible with great food, hospitality and thoughtful extra touches. We would heartily recommend the Plough for events as well as a great pub to pop in for a pint and food. Well done all and thank you!

Can't give rating on food as I'm not sure if they serve it. However, I can say the pub has a great atmosphere and gets lively at night. It can however get very cramped indoors. They have a spacious outdoor area with lots of seating and heat lamps for when it gets cold.

We visited this pub on a Saturday lunchtime. I ordered the scampi and my husband had the burger. The pub wasn’t busy but we waited nearly half an hour for our food and when it finally came it was disappointing. The burger was very average and came with skinny fries. My scampi was seriously overcooked - it was so dark brown as to be almost black! ! I was surprised that the staff thought it appropriate to serve it looking like that as it was so clearly overcooked. I didn’t say anything because we had already waited so long and I didn’t want to wait any more. The scampi was almost non existent inside the very crispy crumb and was luke warm. The chips (not skinny fries!) were however hot. I suspect the scampi was over cooked and cold because the kitchen had to hold the scampi whilst they cooked more chips. Perhaps that also explains the difference between the fries with the burger and chips with the scampi (both said chips on menu). I have to say I have never been to a pub that managed to cremate scampi!!! We may give the Plough another go in a couple of months as I hope this was a one off.

Good looking traditional pub on outskirts of Redhill parking is readily available on road . Inside plenty of pictures and ornaments giving it a quaint and warm feel , after getting our drinks from the friendly barmaid we found a table after looking through menu both decided on Battered fish and chips , it did take quite a while for it to arrive for which the same barmaid apologised for the wait , we learned later from one of the regulars she was on her own that day . Looking at my fish it obviously had been over cooked as the batter was dark brown and cracked when I cut into it and was inedible , my girlfriends looked totally different so would seem were cooked at different times, I decided to leave the batter and just eat the fish unfortunately the fish was dry and tasteless, I was going to mention it but apart from the young barmaid there was no one else to talk too as my girlfriends meal was fine we let it go , I am sure this was a one off and would not put us off returning

This is a very welcoming traditional pub with extremely delicious food that you won’t find anywhere else in the area with its distinct Caribbean menu including a jerk chicken burger and goat curry which were both top notch and a rarity! The bar staff are friendly and there is clearly a local community of regulars as well as those just visiting for food and the family as well as dogs policy, which is refreshing. The garden facilities, although wet weather was in force at the time, looked fantastic and did have a number of sizeable sheltered areas. All in all myself and my family thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and meal at this little gem of a pub next to a very picturesque church in Earlswood, Surrey. Thanks and we’ll see you again soon

Always been a great little place. Now under new management, I think they are finding thier feet a little, they had problems with some of the food and had run out of both food and drink items including such things as diet coke and orange juice. Went in on Easter weekend and sat in the garden, which tbf is nice. The landlord didn't like us moving some chairs to get more around the table, made a big show of thinking through the reservations before he said it was ok (there ended up only being 3 other tables occupied whilst we were there) Then another member of staff came out a bit later and pointlessly moved cusions around whilst she kept an eye on us. In addition we couldn't have cucumber in a G&T because.. "It's all for the salad". Just a bit odd all round and did not feel welcome at all. Having said that, they have some good beers/ ales on and food has been ok when eating there before.
