Best café in the world! Always has been, well, since 1987! "The Deep" is the best pizza ever created!

Recommend by a friend, we walked in and were served instantly with a smile. Has a table for 5, Food was brilliant, a large coke was a large coke.(Unusually). Pizza was great, light fluffy dough, will definitely be leaving spoons and coming here again. We couldn’t finish our pizzas and they gave us brilliant little boxes to take home. All in all very happy.

I have been using the pizza cafe for many years, the food has always been great and (although some might call it a con) the pizza has remained the same throughout that time 👍 you always know what to expect and always better to support a local business than the chain stores 😊

Booked for regular lunch with my friend...we had lasagne as we always do. The garlic bread has changed from lovely to chewy, dry and not garlicy at all...

Always had amazing food but can’t believe they’ve changed the best garlic bread ever to dry chewy bread which didn’t taste of garlic at all. 😞

Brilliant pizzas Bedford in town

Much quieter than infused to be but still plenty of energy, great food and friendly staff.

Once again, an amazing visit. The base of my pizza was slightly soggy in one part, but otherwise it was really nice.

Yes, yes, yes ,yes. Saw this place last week whilst visiting a more formal restaurant nearby as and thought to give it a try. Phoned on the Friday lunchtime but all the 2 HR slots for 7 pm were filled, so we opted for one of the few remaining 5 pm slots. After all it is just a cafe. How wrong that sentiment is. The only thing cafe about this place is the name and the substantial cafe type table and chairs, and even then I've been in restaurants with less good quality seating. Met by one of three members of staff and seated quickly in a bright and happy atmosphere nicely decorated and clean. Offered the menu which is extensive. Starters, sides, salads, build your own pizzas, about 18 named pizzas, burritos,nachos, wraps and enchiladas as well as pasta options, baked potatoes etc. Yes my friends, places with a huge menu option choice often see chef fail to deliver consistent quality across all dishes. NOT HERE! A bowl of olives (enough for two) and a 'chips dips and garlic bread' were delivered. Three dips, probably a bag of nachos and the most delicious pieces of toasted and properly buttered bits of bread came in bowls on a plate. This was a good start. Note the red wine was super smooth (a Merlot at 5 pm!) and was perfect temperature. We went for two named regular pizzas (a medium in old money) and side order of crisscross fries tossed in MARMITE butter (it had to be tried, just once). They are different! It is clear there no previously made, bought in bases going on here. This was clearly authentic dough, with deep topping pizzas made to order and what a treat they were. Hot, melted crisp, fresh. I mean how many words can you use to describe fantastic pizza? Chef clearly had the nailed and my worries over the menu were completely dispelled when seeing other orders and hearing other customers talking about their food. Well done all staff involved. I wouldn't normally go for a dessert at this time of day. It's excessive but something caught my eye on the whole page.of desserts. Something called a 'Super 8'. I won't spoil it by trying to describe this sundae in words except to say 'heaven in a glass' for chocolate, and after 8 and mint ice-cream and chocolate brownie and chocolate sauce lovers................. WOW! An exceptional experience in a full cafe, eating fabulous food, great mix of young and old, nothing formal, everything prepared.abd cooked wonderfully and delivered in a professional and polite manner. A must visit if only for the desserts!

Cute little cafe, established over 30 years ago! Modern decor, great service and very tasty pizzas. Enough vegetarian options too. Greatly enjoyed the as good as it gets vegetarian pizza

Great pizzas, never been disappointed. Fantastic selection of pizzas from the classics to the more weird and wonderful flavours. Highly recommend giving them a try. You can eat in or takeaway 👍🏻

Love this place - all the charm of a little local cafe but with a monster menu: so much choice!! All the food been amazing on every visit, staff are lovely and the atmosphere is chill. Great place and highly recommend it!

Just the best. Have been going to The Pizza Cafe for the best part of 30 years (first in Torquay, now in Newton) and it's consistently the best experience you can have. Food is always fresh, tasty and served quickly, and tonnes of options if you don't want pizza. The team are always friendly and accomodating, and in terms of cost it's great value. Now, if they can just bring back the 'Gone with the Wind' Pizza from the 90s that would be perfect...

Been going to The pizza cafe for many years and never had a bad meal. Plenty of choice, quality products used, I highly recommend a visit. Staff always friendly and efficient.

Home delivery pizza worst one in ages spent nearly £40 and it was terrible pizza topping in a heap and late delivery aswell put me off wont be going back

Family friendly cafe. Great for breakfast and lunch and amazing for dinner. Sensible prices and a good selection of pasta, pizza, wraps and sides. If you save a little space the desserts are amazing. Design your own float or pizza. Can't finish your pizza, ask for it to be put in a box and take your leftovers home. Service is quick, friendly and flexible. A fabulous place.

The staff made this venue. Pleasant, cheerful and helpful. The food is good honest fare. Only downside is that it can get very busy and then it seems crowded.

What a perfect evening. We arrived and were told by the lady that our table wasn't ready. I can't tell you how apologetic she was. We suggested we come back in twenty minutes. She was so so grateful and said obviously there would be a free drink for both of us. When we came back she explained why things were behind, again apologised profusely and reminded us about the drinks. She was a shorter lady. I'm sorry I didn't ask her name but I think she was heading up the staff that evening (Fri 3rd Nov) Our server for the evening was wonderful. Again I didn't get her name, she had fab glasses and just the best smiley face. She couldn't have done her job any better in our eyes. The food was fantastic and came in the amount of time you'd expect which was great. The cost of the meal was great too. Both staff checked on us to make sure everything was fine throughout our visit. We have no problem about our table not being ready on time. These things happen, but the way it was dealt with is what matters and it was exemplary. Thank you guys. Please could those ladies see this feedback as they deserve every bit of!.

Alright place to stop in for a bite to eat. I wouldn't say the food is life changing or anything, a lot of the chicken, onion rings etc are clearly just oven baked. The potato skins are kinda basic too. Most of that stuff was sorta bland without the dips. The wings too were pretty bland but cooked well. I did not try the pizza so maybe that's where this place shines. The cocktails were probably my favourite thing at they do 2 for £10 after 4pm if u wanna get crunk. They have a lot of vegan options too.

Don't usually write reviews on here but we had such a lovely lunch I had to! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond to help me with my toddler!!! My food was delicious and I loved the touch of having nappies and wipes etc available in the loo!

Great food, good value made even better with deals available. Date night deal is a bargain and we received exceptional service. The staff are friendly and obviously love what they do. Thank you for a lovely evening!

went here recently for a family meal. The service was poor, waitresses seemed like they didn't want to be there. Most staff wore crocs which we all thought wasn't approapriate and further proved that they couldn't be bothered. Food was average, could have spent less money elsewhere for better food. Will not be returning.

Ordered a Pizza as they used to be good here, mine came out burnt, I asked if this was normal the response I got was “it’s ok but a little more well done than I would like it” I was appalled they served something so overcooked will not be going back.

Really sorry to write this but the experience me and my friend had tonight was rather poor. Lack of service, waited a long time in between courses, had to flag the waitresses down a couple of times to ask for menus. Was served pink chicken as a starter but was basically told there’s nothing wrong with it and at the end when we got up to pay one of the waitresses was sat at a table on her mobile phone….I usually have a great experience at this place, the odd one or two not so great but this was just terrible to be honest, which is a real shame!

The food is amazing here, never disappoints!! The pizza is top notch, the coleslaw is heaven. Variety of Dessert options, pizzas available for vegans and vegetarians, will always go back for pizza, so much better then dominioes

Went there a couple of nights ago a group of 15 celebrate a 21st birthday. Food was excellent staff and service excellent but we were all freezing. I and others continually asked for the air con to be turned down and eventually we had to get blankets from the car to keep warm. Such a shame really spoil our evening

The only thing that let's them down is no disabled toilet. Toilet is up two flights of stairs. Otherwise, it's an excellent place to eat. Lasagne was delicious, Staff were excellent

Great gluten free menu. Everything is made fresh and is amazing.

2nd visit here with my wife, daughter and wife’s Auntie who lives locally and is her favourite restaurant so treated her as a thank you for letting us stay. Pizza and lasagna were excellent with the bonus of Dartmoor jail ale available to drink. Will definitely be calling again on our next visit. Keep up the great work guys.

Great place. Thick crust pizza which makes a nice change to the thin ones that everyone else seems to do nowadays. Reasonably priced too and service was great

I had an hour to spare at Newton Abbot railway station so I found this pizza place on Google maps and decided to head down for a quick bite to eat. I had the Margherita pizza with garlic bread and coleslaw. For £7.50 it was really nice and good value for money. Would recommend this place if passing through Newton Abbot.

Popped in for lunch before going to the pictures. Both had burritos with their criss crossed chips - excellent. Service was good and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Had a lovely meal drinks a bit expensive but food made up for it .

Had a takeaway from here last night, pizza is nice but not worth the price. Arrived quick and warm, but no option to remove items from a preset pizza which was frustrating, not sure if this is what the notes box is for? Biggest issue was the mozzarella had been put on top of the toppings, which meant the bacon remained soggy and hadn’t crisped

We have passed this pizzas cafe a few times and wanted to try it as always seemed busy, we popped in one evening and wasn't disappointed had a lovely big pizza with a few side dishes good quality pizzas will definitely pop back when in the area again. Staff excellent.

Fantastic restaurant! The staff were really friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we wanted. The food was amazing, they had two menus one standard and one vegan. I'm a big pizza lover and these are up there for the best pizzas I've had! There are lots of other options as well if you're not into pizza. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great night out with friends, family or date nights. 10/10!

Superb friendly fast service with amazing food. A table of 6 with lots of different orders and it all came out at the same time after only 15 mins of waiting. Drinks were fab too, would recommend the elderflower cooler and the pizzas are original and tasty. Will be back soon!!

Lovely atmosphere. Really friendly and helpful staff. Lots of choice and the pizza toppings were lovely however the base was slightly watery. It wouldn't put me off returning though and I'd love to try one of the pasta dishes :)

We used to love visiting The Pizza Cafe but it has gradually gone down hill over the last year in my opinion. The pizzas are either over or undercooked with the sides often following suit. Decided to try a hot chicken wrap on my last visit to see what the other options were like and I certainly wasn't impressed with very basic offering. I don't think we will return for a while but hope they improve so we can enjoy more meals there again.

My food was excellent. But my husband had a baked potato which wasnt cooked through properly. It was hard. Mine was amazing 👏. The lasagne was amazing so much flavour.

The Cafe was nearly full at 5.30 on a Monday, which is a good sign!! The pizza selection is immense, I would advise studying the menu prior to your visit. The cafe offers other options too if your not a pizza fan. I went for a standard size “Top Gun” pizza this could easily be shared with a side. Delicious !! I order a Sangria, which you could have in a glass or jug. I opted for glass, I was actually given a carafe which gave me two glasses. I’m already planning to take the kids. I would advise booking as not a huge cafe and very popular!!

What can I say, not impressed at all. Pizza over cooked, burrito disappointing in flavour, and service wasn’t its best. Been before but this time was very different. The server was pleasant but in another zone and no offer of further drinks despite glasses being...

We are regulars and love pizza cafe. Really great food and good value for money with a nice atmosphere. Would recommend to everyone.

We've been a customer of Pizza Cafe for years and maintain that the pizzas are the best in town. The pizza tonight was no exception, so tasty. However, we were disappointed with the portion size of the nachos, much smaller than we've had before, the tub was mostly sauce and cheese. The criss cross fries were also smaller than usual but not to the point of causing disappointment. Hopefully it was a one off and will be better next time!

Good service, clean and child friendly. Pizza very mediocre, thick dough and rather tasteless. Coleslaw all white and mayonnaise, gloopy. Disappointed reminded me of Chain food.

Visited for lunch with my Aunt and Uncle. The food as usual was delicious, we always enjoy eating here and there is a fantastic choice. Beyond this though, customer service is exceptional. My Aunt uses a wheelchair and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful....

A Newton Abbot staple, and easy to see why. Great food and a range of options to suit everyone, including vegan and gluten free. Inside is friendly and clean, enough room to manoeuvre in a wheelchair and have a removable ramp for access on request.

Disappointing meal here unfortunately. My spaghetti was hugely over cooked and although the meatballs were nice they were over shadowed by a very basic, one dimensional tomato sauce. The pizza wasn’t much better as it was oily and thick, however the flavour was good. Our meal was somewhat saved by the outstanding garlic bread and a lovely warm chocolate brownie to finish.

NOT ENOUGH CARE TAKEN OVER ALLERGENS I visited the cafe with family after a recommendation due to the wide menu options for those who are vegan/have food allergens. My toddler son is anaphylactic to 4 allergens (dairy/soya/egg/peanuts) which I made the waitress aware of when I was choosing from the menu and double checked that none of the allergens were in the items I ordered - i kept it simple to reduce risk with jacket potato, beans and vegan garlic bread) to which I was reassured they were not. My son ate his lunch and we left, but during the car ride home started to display signs of an allergic response and by the time we got home was displaying a severe reaction which required medical intervention. I called the venue and spoke to the Manager who assured me none of the key allergens were in the food served, but if this was the case then there must have been cross contamination during food prep due to the severity of my son's reaction. I was left unsatisfied with the venues response to the situation - despite the Manager saying she would check the ingredients of the foods served, I heard nothing back. I would think twice about eating here for anyone with severe allergens, as there is clearly a risk of contamination and perhaps the venue needs to look at their food prep process.

We went to the pizza cafe last night for works night out and it was lovely! A young blonde girl with glasses was our waitress and she was lovely and polite and was very accommodating, I didn’t catch her name. There was another waitress called...

I took off one star because it tends to be very noisy. Can't blame the cafe for that and it may be a positive for many.

Amazing service and good range of gluten free food. Delicious as always.

I often been in the "Pizza Cafe" for birthdays and meals out over the past two decades. I been there with friends, when there were still Covid-19 restrictions during the months the cafe was allowed to open for sitting. I was last there, on Friday 30th September 2022.

Went with my husband and 17 year old son for a meal.. we enjoyed every bit of it, the service, the food! Couldn't fault it at all..
