The Pilot Inn in Eastbourne

Had my birthday lunch here. Lovely sunny garden with heaters and blankets if needed. The roast beef with lots of “trimmings” was gorgeous. Highly recommended. Service with a smile and everyone so friendly. Oh and a great selection of gins with paired tonics too 🤣🥂.

We sat in the beer garden. The tables were so tightly packed they definitely weren't 2 metres apart.

There was a bitter wind on the beach on Sunday so it was a real pleasure to nip up to the Pilot be installed around a nice big table in the sun, out of the wind and with a heater behind us just in case. Three of us ordered roasts, one homemade pie, one fish finger sandwich and one jerk chicken skewers both with highly stealable home made chips. Be warned. We were all starving so we were glad the food came quite quickly and really hit the spot. Good sized portions, freshly cooked, all delicious and hot enough that, even sitting outside, I managed to finish before it got cold.Only three of us had room for cheesecakes which were highly praised as was the coffee. The lovely local beer and excellent service completed a pretty faultless experience. Book me in for next Sunday!

We booked a table here online three weeks in advance for dinner as had seen good reviews and pictures of the lovely revamped garden dining area. On arrival saw several tables at front right on edge of road but could hear music and see the sunny garden at the rear. Staff member who greeted us as we went to walk to rear garden told us we were at the front ! Queried this as had booked for dinner as first out of lockdown trip out and the other old battered bench tables at the front were just groups of drinkers . Went to the table already having misgivings, only for one of the group of intoxicated lads at the next table to stagger out of his seat to vomit on the pavement ! Back in to advise staff and strongly request another table. She did come out and ask them to leave and they did so noisily and were abusive. We asked if we could wait for whoever left first from the rear dining area but were basically told front or nothing as they were fully booked.No one else was eating at the front, next to the road, by a pile of vomit. We left, a ruined evening, will never return even though the set up at the rear looked lovely. We booked on basis of what we saw on website and this was not what we got. Will not recommend to any friends or associates.

Popped in on the half chance they had a table for lunch (outside dining) luckily although busy they could accommodate us. I firstly have to say they have big time invested in customer care. Luvvly outdoor heaters and blankets if you require one. Didnt need a blanket as the heaters are great. All covid measures in place very reassuring We had 2 main dishes from the menu and they were gorgeous. Service from start to finish was friendly and unobtrusive. I highly recommend visiting here you wont be disappointed. I would book in advance as I think we were lucky to get a table. Def one of our favorite places to eat and drink in Eastbourne.

Wow what a change! The garden looks incredible everything has been done to ensure you are comfy and warm with the lovely heaters and they have enough space. Some pub gardens you get a garden bench not this one lovely tables with proper chairs :) The staff were friendly and very helpful even though they were busy. The food was amazing and we cannot wait to go back.

Thank you so much for an outstanding meal yesterday for Christmas Day! The menu was ambitious and your staff pulled it off remarkably well. Prosecco and cheese straws on arrival which were clearly home made were delicious, the staters were a meal in themselves and the mains were very generous and tasty. Dessert was the icing on the cake. The Christmas decorations were beautiful, well done to everyone who contributed to making the day as wonderful as it was. Thank you The Pilot ❤️

We were on a weekend break in Eastbourne and found this lovely place. We went there on a Sunday so it was really busy, make sure you make a booking if you’re coming for Sunday roast

We had booked for Sunday lunch here as my partner had been in before for a drink and said how nice it was.Sadly, on this our return for a nice lunch we were totally and utterly disappointed. We had been sat at a table beside the log burner fireplace in the main bar on what can only be described as get as many people in as they could as one seat was a carver dining chair and the other a leather inglenook fireplace armchair, totally unsuitable for dining use as it was far too low.On asking to be moved we were told brusquely there were no other tables available despite several dotted around, when I asked why we couldn't move to one of them I was told but they are all booked. So why can't we move and then the other people whom had apparently booked specific tables sit in our inappropriate one.After drinks arrived my partner and I had swapped seats and it was agreed it was not practicable to eat sat at that table. Once again we asked to be moved as none of the other 'reserved' tables had people sat there and again we were told there w nothing so I suggested they rearrange the furniture and supply a proper dining chair, at this point my partner suggested we leave and go elsewhere. The server finally came back and said we could sit on an adjacent table but were only allowed to use it for one hour. We moved as I said we won't be any linger as our appetites had somewhat dimminshed after the awful service.I ordered the pork belly which was acceptable with roast potatoes red cabbage carrots gravy and apple sauce. My partner had the cheese and leek pie served with roasted new potatoes and a salad with coleslaw. The salad consisted of an abundant amount of lettuce, two slices of tomato and two slices of what can only be described as dried out dehydrated cucumber. This was totally not worth the price they were charging, we left as soon as we had ate this offering not ordering deserts etc as we just wanted to get out.Hopefully other people will not experience this same kind of service in what is supposed to be a popular place to eat in the Meads.

Dinner menu is extensive, specials are varied, the food is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful, the COVID-19 safety guidelines have been followed, definitely recommend

First time going here and can only say I wish I had found this place before. Excellent food, lovely staff, nice atmosphere and great service. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

Went for a early dinner tonight with my grandchildren.. food and service was amazing.. social distance all good.. in the words of the grandchildren Amber is lovely and soo pretty!! Perfect evening thanks guys.. xx

We visited the pub for a meal after reading the good reviews whilst staying in the area. It did not disappoint the food was excellent and the choice very good. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Toilets were spotless.

Excellent pub food, atmosphere and service. The Covid guidelines were spot on. Recommend the seafood cocktail and Sussex smokey to start, both were delicious.

What a nice evening we had at this lovely place Pork belly was so juicy and full of flavour. Very friendly staff.

Menú de bar típico, con todos los favoritos tradicionales, pero la comida estaba muy por encima del promedio, sabrosa y con un buen tamaño de porción, servida por un personal muy educado y servicial, una buena variedad de cervezas y sidras, todo bien frío. Recomendaría una visita (reservar primero).

We had a great evening meal at the Pilot. Steak pie and chicken and ham pie as mains, Both really tasty, lots of perfect vegetables and great crispy chips, yummy. Dessert was a heavenly chocolate and salted caramel torte with ice cream. Absolutely lovely. We eat in the garden which was really nice. The service was friendly and efficient, lovely folks. Thanks, we will return when next in Eastbourne.

We benefitted from the extended eat out to help out. The special menu was excellent value and the food good. Staff were excellent and they were very accommodating. Would thoroughly recommend it.

A very comfortable experience at this busy pub outside of the main town of Eastbourne. Very pleasant and helpful staff and a very pleasing menu. I had the dressed crab which was beautifully presented. All the food looked excellent.

Excellent starters and main meal today. We booked and were extremely pleased with all the procedures for COVID.

Stayed at the pilot for 2 nights. Temperature taken on arrival and socially distanced tables set out.Room was a good size and had everything we needed, breakfast was pre ordered the night before, it was good quality hot and freshly cooked. Had 2 evening meals and 1 lunch all were cooked to perfection and arrived at the table very quickly, the staff were the friendliest I have ever met,super efficient under pressure as the pub was constantly busy, spotlessly clean, plenty of parking at rear, would definitely stay here again.

Was a bit worried that they couldn’t find our booking but they did have room for us. The cleanliness and service were spot on and we enjoyed our meal although they had run out of my first two choices. Lovely baked Camembert which we shared for a starter. The fish and the chicken were both good. Has it’s own car park which was very handy in a busy street. The new part of the dining area is beautiful.

Having eaten at the Pilot often as the food is fairly good, i took my older family to have a meal, the pub was only half full but we were put in the small part of the restaurant that was full of very small lould kids, we could not have a conversation and all now have a headache, i did mention it when i paid the bill only to be told oh sorry i see what u mean !

Stopped here for a drink and food staff were very friendly. Food was lovely too. Both had the amazing chicken leek and bacon pie. Many thanks hope you return on our next visit.

Our first outing since COVID 19 lockdown, we didn't know what to expect. However, we were all extremely impressed with how organised The Pilot was, all staff were well briefed and kind and informative. Lisa and Simon have very obviously spent a lot of time and money getting it right and making customers and staff feel safe, other pubs/cafe's could learn a lot from this level of commitment and attitude. We had a great evening, service, food, surroundings all faultless, now we know how well you are dealing with the situation we will be back!! We feel extremely lucky to have this well run pub, serving delicious homecooked food literally on our doorstep. cannot recommend highly enough. Well done Lisa, Simon and your team.

Over the last decade, I had opportunities to work in several locations around the UK, predominantly along the south east coast - where I have ventured to a vast array of different pubs. As a self proclaimed pub enthusiast and more importantly, pub connoisseur - I felt that it was my duty and endeavour to inform the users of trip advisor about the hospitality and warm services offered by the staff at The Pilot Inn.Please be aware that I never, EVER, make an effort to compliment an establishment on any online ‘advisor’ platform, and that - in itself is a testament to the sublime service which I experienced.Over the last year my visits to this pub have vastly increased in terms of frequency. The pub is simply gorgeous, it has a traditional and yet contemporary modern design - with magnificent memorabilia placed randomly throughout the outset of the pub, which has a variety of colours in relaxed tones. This effect of styling boasts an eccentric, yet relaxing environment. You would underestimate the beautiful interior, when you set eyes on the whitewashed walls of the buildings exterior aesthetic. Tucked away below the cliffs of beachy head and adjacent to the coastline, making this pub Eastbourne’s best kept secret in a perfect ‘cozy’ location.This pub can accommodate any individual or group. For parties whether it be family or friends - the pilot inn and it’s exuberant/ hardworking staff will ensure your visit is met a high standard professionalism, exceptional table service - with a sprinkle of character. I’d like to take a moment to particularly recognise both Mollie and Honor. The two individuals have consistently portrayed a quintessential level of service, which is complimented by their kind smile. This is something that I am yet to experience in any other pub, and I applaud them on their mannerisms and professional attitudes.Finally, the food and dining is effortlessly Michelin Star worthy. The chefs and kitchen staffs, quality of food and level of care is a great compliment to this establishment. The menu kindly caters for a variety of dietary requirements (vegan/ veggie), and would appear to provide a seasonal variety of dishes, in keep with the time of year. I can only presume that the Manager here is an award winning pub landlord that cares for the staff and local community and strives to produce a bespoke and fantastic service. I really like this pub!

Have never been before but heard good things. The pub is stunning and clean throughout. Extremely welcoming, efficient and quick service.Pet friendly and has a lovely pub dog. We came to check out the vegan menu but out of the two options one was sold out. Luckily the vegan platter was very filling and tasty. Very well presented.We did ask for chips but were told the chips were cooked in the same fryer as meat, cheese and fish. This was surprising since the vegan pitta burger came with chips? This was upsetting as vegans since other vegans or vegetarians have unknowingly eaten something against their beliefs or dietary requirements. I asked a staff member about it and he said he had never thought about it but said he would talk to the chef about it. A few minutes later he informed me the chef agreed it wasn't right and Is going to change the option, possibly to new potatos. I was extremely impressed by how fast the change was made and will definitely be back to try it out! Only downfall is the lack of vegan and vegetarian options for us but hoping it will roll with the times. I think this is the nicest pub in Eastbourne! The staff and decor put it miles ahead of anywhere else I have been in my 3 years of living here.

We felt very safe dining inside for lunch and it was a bonus to get 50% off thanks to the government scheme! Our temperature and contact details were taken. All of the staff were wearing masks and we were alone in a room next to an open window for most of our time until another family came and sat at least 2 tables from us. The staff were very friendly and the good was as expected from pub dining.Would definitely go back if we are back in the area.

We had a lovely meal today at the Pilot. Lots of covid safe measures being taken. Temperature check on arrival, tables spaced out and clearly the bookings had been staggered. Tables thoroughly wiped down after each group of guests using disposal paper towels, along with staff wearing masks. Really great service from the staff and food was delicious + generous portions.

We would like to thank Lisa and all her staff for a fantastic stay. We had 3 nights in a fantastic room with the best food we have ever tasted in a wonderful pub. From temperature checks on arrival safety was the main issue and was throughout our stay. Our room was amazing and spotless it was a fantastic place to stay. The atmosphere in the pub was wonderful staff smiling all the time no request too small they really made us feel at home. The food was incredible in fact it was so nice we actually cancelled another restaurant so we could stay in the pub. Lisa and her staff are amazing and we will definately be back to enjoy their company again. 10 out of 10 across the board from arrival to departure!!!! Thank you John & Debs xx

Amazing. We were group of four and walked from beachford to Eastbourne and were dreaming of a pub... this place fulfilled our dream. All the staff we dealt with were amazing with each one just as delightful as the next.

Our family group felt very safe in this covid era. Staff were masked and we were temperature tested.Service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive. The food was wonderful. Perfect chips. Tasty scampi. Generous dressed crab. Succulent pie. Recommended. Great location for end of South Downs Way.

Lovely pub to visit for a meal. We had lunch, staff are very polite and friendly. At the moment it's full table service. The food is excellent and large portions. Great value for money. We will be going back. Would recommend.

Came here for lunch yesterday. Was happy with how professional it was, temperatures taken when we arrived, details taken etc. Nice to see a restaurant taking the pandemic seriously which makes us feel at ease and safe. Also, lovely food too. Will return when in Eastbourne.

Went here today with my family, had a lovely time food was good and prompt. Went for the vegan roast, as a vegetarian i do hate when vegans and veggies are put in the same boat. Missed out on cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire pudding! This was not compensated with anything else. 4 potato’s two bits of broccoli and a bit of red cabbage. Not worth the 14.75 price point. It was tasty though. Delicious Gingerbread cheesecake.

We went with some friends on Friday afternoon to celebrate a birthday and like normal were given a warm welcome by Lisa and her team. We sat in the "old" extension part of the restaurant but went and had a peek at the "new" addition - which looks great and fits in well with the rest of the pub. You would think it had always been there!We know from past experience that the portions are generous in size so decided to share 2 starters between the 4 of us (lamb kofte and garlic bread) which went down very well. For mains the men had the belly pork, one of us had the steak and ale pie whilst I had the gourmet cheese burger. All of our dishes were cooked to perfection (particularly the home-made chips!) and delicious. I'm not sure if our plates needed to be washed afterwards as we cleaned them up!!Sadly we didn't have space for any desserts, although we were sorely tempted. Perhaps next time we'll forego the shared starters and have a shared pudding instead??Thanks to Lisa and her team for another great meal and afternoon out.One word of warning: this is a very popular place and so it is definitely worth booking a table in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

As I work in a 5* star establishment you'd think I have high expectations and maybe I do. I have been going on and off to this establishment for years but I gotta say over the last few years and my last couple of visits this place exudes quality. The food is delicious with a great menu inc specials. The interior is spotless and very homely and a recent extension to the restaurant is a great venue. The service is friendly and welcoming and you do feel they appreciate you're business. Without doubt this is a must place visit. I especially love the gorgeous Steak and ale pie DELICIOUS mmmmmm will be back soon again.

Excellent atmosphere and lovely food in a very nice pub. No complaints at all and would recommend a visit (the food here is better than a lot of restaurants in the area!)We visit Eastbourne at least once a year and always book a table at The Pilot (booking recommended) and have never been disappointed.A little bit out of the town centre, but well worth the visit. Am a chef of considerable experience in Michelin Star cookery and A list client cookery.I had Sunday lunch at the pub on Sunday with my family and sister.Had the best table in the house in the new extension the room was impressive, excellent detailing in the decoration.Had some scallops in the half shell, simple, clean flavours timed well.We all had the roasts the beef had great flavour & the pork roasted up a treatNice wine, great staff, brilliant pub ticks all the boxes for me for a Sunday lunch.

Having never eaten in The Pilot four of us decided to try it out on a Saturday night. As soon as we walked in there was a great vibe and we took our seats in the newly opened extension. Although we were advised that a large group had just been seated in the bar and that it may affect the speed of delivery of our meal nothing of the sort happened. Service was excellent and the food delicious from the leek & ham pie to the sausages & mash, the curry and the Dover sole.Either side of the main course the starters and desserts were all delicious. This will not be our last visit but just one very tiny comment....the waitress didn't mention the 'specials' board on the wall and we didn't notice it until after dessert. Some of the dished on there looked excellent too. A great night out with wonderful friends in a super venue.

Our first visit to The Pilot since they built the new extension to the restaurant and it won't be our last. The new dining area was very tastefully decorated and the food on offer was delicious. I had the chicken, leek and bacon pie and it was possibly the best I have ever tasted and my wife thought likewise about the pork belly. Even though the pub was busy the service was spot on and the staff were very friendly. Looking forward to a return visit in the not too distant future!

A cosy pub which is obviously very popular. The staff were accommodating and friendly offering a warm welcome. The room was comfortable and a good size with a modern bathroom. Would have loved to give 5 stars but just feel that such nice place doing good food where menu items offer real chips should serve them with every meal. Having ordered ‘fish and chips’ to get frozen chips was a little disappointing. The cooked breakfast however was very good. Would recommend.

We have visited the pilot pub on many occasions but the last couple of visits the fish& chips have been a disappointment,not sure if it’s because the oil is over used or different chef over cooking the batter!!!!

A super lunch here. Very busy and we were lucky to get a table (we hadn't booked). Despite being rammed we had quick service and a very pleasant meal. Good value.

Having seen the Pilot grow its restaurant twice and with it amazing food chooses for all.

Having made the mistake of heading off to the coast for a bit of fresh air only to run into a wet and windy weekend it was a relief to find this pub just across the road from our digs, especially as the heating wasn't working on the first night.

Lisa and her team give a warm welcome and are knowledgeable about the revised menu. Specials menu gives further variety of choices. Good value for money.

Booked for Sunday lunch , ordered roast pork and trimmings . Food was exceptional, crackling and pork perfection on a plate , followed by apple crumble and ice cream. All in all brilliant meal , really well run establishment with efficient staff to boot. Def will make this a regular place to eat when I visit again.

Probably the best quality food I’ve had in a pub for a long time. Plus it’s not the usual pub menu either. I had beautifully grilled and presented salmon, and my wife had Dover sole. We will certainly be back when we’re in the area again.

There is a large menu so it's well worth a visit to enjoy well cooked food . The atmosphere is cosy with a lovely fire in the winter.

Mientras visitaba Eastbourne con mi familia decidimos reservar una mesa ya que éramos 7 más un niño pequeño. Dijeron que nos alojarían a las 4 ya que no llamamos hasta las 2. 30) Siempre una cálida bienvenida aquí, ya que anteriormente solo hemos estado aquí para tomar una copa. El personal siempre es amable, la comida buena podría ser un poco más caliente pero muy buenas porciones. No tuvimos postres ya que estábamos demasiado llenos de la cena, pero sonaban encantadores. También se están extendiendo para hacer frente a la demanda de los clientes. Espero que no cambie demasiado. Un encantador y acogedor pub cálido, una joya escondida en una zona residencial.

Al quedarnos en Eastbourne para un funeral familiar, queríamos un lugar para tener una buena comida con un amigo. El piloto nos lo recomendaron en parte porque necesitábamos un lugar apto para perros. En realidad, la recomendación llegó antes de que mencionáramos al perro.

Starters were whitebait, prawn cocktail and after two steak pies. The starters were indifferent with uninspiring prawns and oily whitebait. One of our steak pies was black in colour and incredibly salty. We sent it back and werent charged

stayed overnight and ate at the pilot inn that evening and also had breakfast and lunch, very good food all roung and good value, the staff are great and welcoming. we will reyrurn. the room was very modern and comfortable.

Este pub popular estaba muy ocupado los martes a la hora del almuerzo, lo que hacía que la experiencia fuera menos agradable. El personal era muy atento y la comida se servía con bastante rapidez, especialmente porque estaban ocupados.

Walked into The Pilot and thought how nice it was, lovelly decor and very welcoming. Ordered drinks and was horrified when the bar tender picked the lemon up for my drink with his bare fingers and then continued to do the same for my friends drink. Would have complained bitterly other than being with friend and in her home town. Went on to order food but couldn't get the lemon incident out of my mind. Food tasted lovelly but please buy some tongs or even just get the staff to use a cocktail stick as it really took the edge off of it. The place is more than average but lost rating for such a small thing!

I dined at The Pilot recently with my Mum who had been here many times over the years and had always been pleased. The place was very busy and obviously popular with seemingly many regulars and their dogs so generally a nice atmosphere. However whether management has changed or whether we made a poor choice I don’t know but the food was overpriced and absolutely awful.

Just the best x good value for money the salad was so fresh and everything just tasted delicious x I would say this is a must if in Eastbourne you will not be disappointed xx

Swift, efficient but unobtrusive service. The standard of food is excellent, nice small menu, but caters to most tastes. Very pleasant surroundings with a lovely ambience, used by locals and has a pretty outside area. Value for money is outstanding.

Had lunch at the Pilot and it was an all round success. Efficient bar staff, good selection of drinks and good lunch. The burger was really good.

Well kept old building/interior, clean with a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and sociable and served food that looked appetising and proved very good to eat. My wife had the "Special" Dressed Crab and I had the "Special" Lamb Burger and I couldn't resist the Apple Crumble. Personally I am adventurous but don't like my food to sound or look too strange and I was relieved to see that the Menu offered a range of dishes that that I thought I would like. I was in a party of five and I didn't hear any negative comments concerning the food, service or location.

I visited The Pilot Inn with my parents on Sunday having already reserved a table. ( I advise people to do so as it is very busy on the weekends and Bank Holidays).

This was a repeat visit. Prompt service and good staff and good food. Love the cauliflower cheese! We sat down at 12 but when w had finished it was starting toget busy

Bank holiday Monday - arrived at 17.50 told food stopped serving at 18.00.

Evening meal with friends, make sure you bring an appetite as the portions are huge.

I booked a table for 4,lunchtime midweek. on arrival we were informed that the table I had booked was not available,( there were 3 people sitting at it,) and that I should not have reserved a specific table in the first place!, I was then told that I could either find another table or another place to eat. As my guests had already come a long way that day, we decided to stay.

How lucky I am to have this pub as my local.

On a beautiful Sunday I found myself in Eastbourne, and found this pub in the relative back streets. Wow, what a find! Very busy at 1pm, but the plentiful staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The roast beef was tender and succulent and accompanied by more than enough veg. Even my Pimms was mixed to perfection. If you find yourself in this busy seaside town at any time, I would highly recommend you visit this hostelry, or even better book accomodation in advance, unfortunately they did n't have any rooms available to me on the day. However if, as I suspect, the accomodation is up to the overall standard everywhere else here, I guarantee it will be perfect. Only downside is there is only on street parking, and it is a very pleasant residential neighbourhood. Anyway its well worth a visit for any reason.

Me and partner have popped into the Pilot Inn 4 times now after a day's walking on the nearby Beachy Head/Seven Sisters.

Stayed for 1 night. Accommodation very comfortable. Had roast dinner in the restaurant- excellent and a great breakfast Found all the staff very friendly and helpful Will definitely stay here again

Called in today on a recommendation & had the most gorgeous meal! I had the Steak & Onion Pie & it was probably the best Pie I have ever had! Absolutely packed with tender Steak, piping hot & a huge portion too! My wife had the Scampi & that was delicious too! Loved the decor of the Pub & the Staff were so friendly & great service! Absolutely loved it & will definitely be going back to try their Sunday Roast!!

Our Family of four adults ate here last week. We all had something different from the main menu, my wife’s Turbot was exceptional and of restaurant quality. Arguably the best pub in Eastbourne.

We decided to treat ourselves to an early evening meal at The Pilot on Friday. Knowing how busy it gets, particularly at weekends, we decided to get there about 4 pm so that we could get a table.

Met people whilst on cruise who we told we were going to Eastbourne. They said we had to go to The Pilot so we booked some month in advance and we were certainly NOT disappointed. Excellent food of very good quality. we both had the wing of skate which was huge. Although priced slightly above average it was certainly worth it. Wines not too expensive. When we travel that way again we will certainly book another visit.

Had a lovely meal on Wednesday evening in the garden. The pub was packed so we decided to find a seat outside. Delicious crab salad and also the best Dover sole I have ever had.

After 4 years of eating and drinking at this fabulous ‘locals’ seaside pub the food, service and atmosphere gets better and better. Their established chef dishes out some very hearty pub food at top quality and also some fabulous restaurant style meals that never disappoint. Well done to the whole team, we look forward to the next 4 years and more.

Food for dinner was disappointing. Expensive for a pub basic tables and chairs and quality what not what we expected for the price. Much better value at restaurants around the area. £13 for basic fried fish and chips is too much

Lovely pub seemed very clean was quite busy for 2.30pm .

Visited the pilot but as driving requested a pint of coke and a packet of crisps. They only had bottles of coke (70p each in supermarkets) and I was charged £5.90 for this. WHAT a ripoff, no wonder they can afford another extension AVOID this very overpriced establishment.

Absolutely amazing food at this pub. We spent a few days walking that end of the South Downs Way and, in need of some carb stacking in the evenings, we were very impressed. Lovely people and and an excellent pub dog.

Visited here after spending a Sunday morning exploring beachy head. We ordered two roast beef dinners. Very generous and tasty portions with a variety of vegetables on offer. It is a very nice small pub. Service and food was very good

Every time we visit this charming and hardworking landlady Lisa says "I can't believe it's that time of year already" as we visit every holiday - and the pub just kerps improving. Our first visit on 7 June I tried the falafel burger with beetroot humous - succulent and tasty and such a big portion I took some home for supper! The fish and chips also tasty - but the skinny fries on mine better than the chunky chips. 9th June saw us return for Sunday lunch. Excellent value for 2 large thick slices of beef with plenty of roasties, frsh veg and big yorkshire. Good service despite place being very busy. Booking essential and we had a great table even with a dog in tow (Betsy much appreciated free dog bics on bar). The resident pub dog - a splendid example of the Sussex Hound breed called Bentley will generally be found in a sunny spot on the terrace of the beer garden.

Great pub inside and out. Food is fantastic, never disappointed. Good varied selection on the menu. Although kids are welcome, children’s menu isn’t inspiring, in my daughters own words 🙄 (aged 10)

We and the little monster enjoyed a very yummy main meal (chicken leek and ham pie). Staff all very pleasant. The specials dessert I chose i didn't enjoy so it was refunded no problem.

Been here a couple of times and thought i just had to leave a review. The service from the bar to the food service is friendly and proffesional. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. Both times came for lunch and left both times verrrry happy.

I have been a satisfied punter here over many years but have had an awful lunch today. The daily special was described as Roast Turkey with all the trimmings. On arrival it lacked the promised stuffing and trimmings and came with a large sun dried Yorkshire. Veggies were bland and boiled and the gravy was a brown liquid of indeterminate taste.
