This pub is usually nice. This time we were surrounded by flies and couldn’t enjoy our meal because of them. Moved twice and still had flies flying around.

After ordering 4 x adult breakfast and 1 x child breakfast, we were a little disappointed the time we were having to wait - unfortunately when the breakfast arrived all were very cold and arrived with no eggs - The breakfast were sent back to the kitchen to be surprised as they were returned a couple of minutes later again with no eggs and still cold. The one star is for the manager who agreed to refund. If they can't get breakfast correct I wish anyone good luck with lunch or dinner.

Went for lunch, was told a 40 minute wait when ordering which was ok but actually took over 1hr 15 minutes. Chips were stone cold, when I approached the waiter to let him know he just asked what table number. Few minutes later shoved a dish of chips on the table and left, no apology or acknowledgment - lasagne was nice but would not recommend

We came here at lunchtime on a Sunday afternoon and were easily able to book a table online for the time we wanted the evening before. Our table was reserved for us with no issues. The bar and restaurant areas were lovely and we were seated at a table that had beautiful sea views. The food here is reasonably priced. Our starters arrived promptly and were enjoyable. We had a bit of a longer wait for our mains, but nothing unreasonable. I had the vegetarian chilli with pilau rice which was delicious ~ I would have just preferred that the nachos and guacamole/salsa/sour cream had been served separately rather than being put in altogether! I was impressed by the over 5’s children’s fish finger meal as my son was served 4 lovely, fresh fish fingers with chips and peas. Overall, a beautiful place with stunning views serving pretty good food at very reasonable prices considering it’s touristy position.

Popped in for a drink which was nice, seen the breakfast menu and decided to go the next morning. Kids breakfasts were very good value for money. Adults not so much. Seems to be a big baked bean shortage. I don't usually count my beans but 24 beans on a vegan breakfast was not great. There were more on the kids breakfast. Also the 'smashed avocado' was just guacamole from a tub.

Lovely helpful staff,(guy in loud shirt & ponytail) food arrived very quickly. Desert seemed forgotten took a long while to arrive but was worth the wait. The cod & chips was really good, 2 main courses 1 desert plus tonics & cola was about £32. Beautiful view from the outside dinning area. Lots to like & above average pub grub. Can’t wait to return.

I don’t write reviews as I often feel it’s unfair on the establishment. However after last nights visit ,I must.Service was poor, many options on menu unavailable and we had to wait nearly an hour. When the food arrived our order was wrong and the meals were awful. Other customers had been waiting even longer and the kitchen clearly could not cope. As for the cleanliness and toilets the less said the better. Would not come back again

By golly, where to start with this beautiful coastal village. Supreme location with awesome views. The chef at the Pentwig is something special, everything was toasting hot and cooked to sweet perfection. All 3 courses hit me right on the soft palate, delicious! The decor was normal- as expected from a well to do establishment. There was a fine young gentleman delivering our food and he was both attentive and efficient. However I cannot say the same for the rest of service/managerial staff who were, a little slow off the mark one could say. A bit like a sprinter who sprains his ankle as the gun goes off. All good intentions- put not enough forwards momentum.Overall a fine dining experience. 5 bloody good stars.

I get the covid situation. I understand the requirements and the need for safety. A visit to a pub, visit outside, in the fresh air, not even under an awning or parasol. Fresh air. Open space. Fresh air.So we sat outside with a dog. One of us went into the pub to order and was ushered out saying "You can't go in there". Do we sat and waited until a member of staff, armed with a tablet bit no face mask, stood over us, within 2m and barely 1m, and demanded the various contact information, which was duly submitted. We then asked for drinks.. "Not my job. You have to download the app". Now the wifi coverages in New Quay is poor at it's best do thay was not going to happen. We left telling the member of. staff to delete the information. The whole situation was a shocker in New Quay. No face masks, poor distancing, poor overall. The hotel took the top prize though for its poor service and staff failure to adhere to distancing and its illogical approach.

fishsaladsteakssausagechickencurrymeatmustbrainscookedsteakBooked for a one night . Lovely view over looking the sea . The room was lovely but you could tell dogs had stayed in the room. A little smelly and hair not hoovered properly. Bed was very comfy and lovely powerful shower. Lovely evening meal down at the bar. Lots of things missing off the menu but what we had was lovely. Great selection of gins. Staff so lovely and very helpful.

We paid nearly £9 for a tiny piece of fish, 2 meagre potions of chips and a curry sauce??? Fish more like size of a fish finger? Rip off come on guys don't you get enough money out of tourists.

I was very much looking forward to my meal at the Ship Inn, Tresaith. I feel it was overpriced and unfortunately not really that nice. The Katsu chicken starter is ridiculously small. I appreciate it’s a starter but 3 tiny pieces of chicken, a piece of lettuce and some spots of sauce on the plate felt somewhat underwhelming when it arrived. I’m surprised they had the courage to allow it to leave the kitchen. Is there no quality check before items leave the kitchen? For £5 I just felt a bit short changed. Subsequently ordered a steak for my main meal, which at £18.50 is not particularly cheap. Again when it arrived I couldn’t help but feel very disappointed with only a few chips on the plate. On a positive note, the chips were very nice indeed, but sadly there weren’t many of them to enjoy. The meal was therefore immediately disappointing and let down by something which could have been easily remedied. Unfortunately the dish just had no real wow factor. Additionally there were not many peas on the plate. It feels like the chef is trying to be posh and go ‘al a carte’ by giving tiny portions, it just seems like the the identify of the menu/restaurant is quite confused. There was also a thick rind of fat running though the steak. I ordered pepper sauce with my meal and a small amount was drizzled over the steak. I paid for this item and felt like I didn’t really receive it. Would it be that difficult to just serve the sauce separately to allow the customer to dip/pour over their meal as required? Sadly it felt like ration week at the restaurant. I was still very hungry when I finished my meal which is disappointing after spending the best part of £27. Again I just felt quite short changed. I don’t want huge portions and I’m not a big eater or a greedy person, but there simply was not enough food on the plate in my opinion. I felt robbed. The staff are very nice people and clearly work very hard- I overheard a kind gentleman (with a beard and glasses) serving another family on a table next to me, I felt a bit sorry for him having to explain several times that many of the items on the menu they had requested were unavailable. The family seemed to be running out of options of what they wanted to order from the menu. It was just all a bit uncomfortable and I wasn’t even sat at that table! Must be quite soul destroying for him having to take the brunt of customer dissatisfaction when many of the problems seem to lie behind the scenes and with management. I’m sure the staff do their very best and it was very busy on a hot day but this shouldn’t affect the quality of food. Something is going very wrong here. I feel a bit more attention to detail is needed which could make it a much better dining experience. If much of the menu is unavailable they shouldn’t really be open. It was sadly quite a disappointing dining experience. I really was hoping it was going to be better than it was. One small disabled toilet with people queuing through the restaurant is not ideal although I appreciate not much can be done about this and it must be quite hard to mange. Seems quite unusual to have only one small disabled toilet at the hotel given how busy it gets. If I had arrived in a wheelchair and seen the size of the queue I wouldn’t have been very happy. Why are able bodied people using the disabled toilet anyway? The set up seems a bit strange. If they’re trying be an up market place and charge the prices they do then the food quality needs to reflect this, which generally speaking it did not (apart from the few nice chips!). Kind and hard working sadly staff let down by portion sizes and a menu which sounds much better on paper than in reality. Overall just quite disappointing, underwhelming and overpriced which is not justified in the slightest.
