The Pig in Muck in Harborough

Smashing carvery with an excellent choice of fresh veg and the meat was cooked to perfection. Had a pint of Barn Owl bitter. Best tasting ale I've had in a long time. Staff were warm and friendly. Nothing too much trouble and they treated our dog like a king.

Our first visit to The Pig In Muck for a Sunday carvery, with our Welsh Springer dog. We ate in the side dog friendly area and the food was really good. My wife really liked the local Owl beer and I had a nice Westons cider. Definitely going there again.

Just randomly popped in on Friday evening around 9.10pm for a cheeky drink on the way home from a long day. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with the voice of a lady saying that she hoped we werent after food to which we replied with no, just a drink. She then replied with that they will be closing around half 9/10pm which was fine. Then at the bar, I asked for rum which they did not have any at all, my husband asked for one of the pubs beer/ale which was not on. The lady that was serving us then said, don't feel like you have to stay, you can go and get a drink somewhere else if you want. I was really shocked at this statement so I said to my husband that we will go somewhere else. We did not feel very welcome at all and overall I found that each person that interacted with us was rude.

Thankyou for our beautiful meal on 24th August 2019, for my husbands 70th, everything cooked to perfection. To fit us in at short notice we all thankyou. It was so HOT yesterday, & the catering staff must have been roasting in the kitchen. We shall definitely return. Kind Regards Kim Wesson

Food fabulous , really enjoyed our visit...

Such a friendly pub and the food is yummy. We got lost getting there and when we finally arrived very late for our time the staff found us a table straight away and made no fuss of our lateness. Great place to visit.

Absolutely amazing carvery with attentive service. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it, and we will book next time.

Very good service, lovely friendly owners, and the food was absolutely gorgeous. It was absolutely packed at lunchtime, which is another way you can tell that it's a good place.

The food was pretty good, the portions for the meat and the service were lovely. I thought the pricing was a bit steep but this is almost a self serve so I can imagine some people have big portions of the add on items. The staff were super welcoming, I didn't realise you could have a mix of meats until someone who has been there did it!

Nice fill, your plate, Sunday Carvery in an independently well run pub with character. Will be back.

Once again a tasty, beautifully cooked roast lunch with a fab array of veg served by happy people at a reasonable price. The roast lamb was so tender and the array of home cooked veg - including roasted Mediterranean veg - was as always delicious. It's a carvery so you choose what you want from a grand selection. Puddings include Bakewell tart, Spotted Dick and Bread & Butter Pudding. Who could ask for more! We'll be back. We'll be back soon.

Visited today with my Nan and omg how we have missed this place! The food was AMAZING! Home cooked and fresh! The choice of meats (6 in total) and the various and plentiful veg, was just perfect! Superb atmosphere and the owners are just as friendly and welcoming as I remember. Thank you to all at the Pig in Muck for a fabulous Sunday roast!! We will be back!

Great Sunday roast. Pleanty off good food for the money.

We always enjoy visiting this pub, Tracy and her team are always welcoming and very friendly, the Sunday carvery is superb with always fresh food and never had any issues, and always look forward to visiting you again well done to you all.

wow what a Sunday lunch that was. Such a great choice of meats and vegetables. In my eyes, all cooked to perfection. The staff were so very pleasant and attentive to our needs and comfort. You'll be seeing me again that's for sure.

Visited with a walking party. So 9 of us had lunch. Food was ordered and arrived before us in a suitable time. All of us were impressed with the quality of the food, it's presentation and taste. Would definitely recommend and if walking near here again will no doubt revisit.

We were staying in the area and went on a Thurs which is grill night. Very lively and busy pub with great atmosphere. Good menu and really reasonably priced. The food was very good too and the staff were friendly.

I've been coming here on and off to the Pig with my father-in-law for around 8 years. I love walking in those doors because I am always greeted with laughter and smiles. The homemade draughts are great. I highly recommend a pint of Best. In the winter, the fire is on and it is just great. Pop in. You won't regret it.

No need for luck - try The Pig in Muck .. A warm sunny Saturday.. and this pub looked very inviting. We were not at all disappointed. We parked up (they have a free car park..) and walked in, and when we did we received a very warm welcome. The owners Tracey & Kevin were keen to say hello, and they advised regarding some local beers as well as what food was available.. we ordered a couple of meals, as well as desserts.. all of which was lovely.. the fish and chips and the chocolate fudge cake especially so .. We found everyone helpful, and other customers were polite and clearly some of them were locals who came there often. We saw their Sunday lunch advert, and thought we are trying that as well.. we came back the following afternoon. The Sunday lunch was quite simply, awesome. Tasty meats, lots of choice, and of course lots of vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings.. and lovely gravy… one of the nicest Sunday pub lunches we have ever eaten.. and we’ve tried a few ! In summary… WE SUGGEST YOU VISIT THIS LOVELY BRITISH PUB .. !! You will we believe enjoy the atmosphere, the owners being friendly; and obviously the range of tasty food and the drink.. Fabulous pub with a fabulous Sunday lunch! So much choice and everything was beautifully well cooked.

Really nice friendly pub , very welcoming with good service . Food was very reasonable and extremely good . Pudding’s especially were fantastic! Look forward to returning.

Although we don’t go out for a meal very often when we do we go to The Pig. The landlady always greets you like you go in every day which immediately makes you feel really welcome. We were a party of eight and were accommodated on the same table, the food was as always delicious and good portion sizes. Would definitely recommend the beer, and also the rhubarb gin. Look forward to our next visit.

‘The Pig’ maintains its own high standards. We popped in for lunch with family visitors who had come down from Yorkshire, and the food and service were both excellent. Our visitors thought us lucky to have such an outstanding pub on our doorstep. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Popped in for lunch as I was passing. Pleased I did, fabulous pint of “Best” (brewed on site) and great fish and chips for £9.99…..cheaper than the chip shop where I live. Claybrooke, you have a little gem in your midst.

Passing by as I just live at the back only for a drink this time whilst walking the dog .. Have eaten here in the past and find the food 1st class ...

Surprise! What a lovely Carvery lunch, just perfect home cooking. Lovely people and food that is twice as good as you expect at half the price. No wonder you have to book well ahead.

We decided to go for Sunday lunch and try the carvery. Initially we were given a warm welcome and the young waitress who served us was very friendly and attentive. However, the food was extremely disappointing and below average. All the meats served were fatty, tough and lukewarm. The vegetables were hard and the Yorkshire puddings burnt. We complained to the manageress who said she would change her supplier but then proceeded to belittle us by asking all customers around us if they had enjoyed their meal implying we were making a fuss. No compensation was offered and needless to say we will not be going there again.

Brilliant Sunday dinner - best about.

Initially when first entering the pub, we were given a warm welcome and the young waitress who served us was very friendly and attentive. However the Sunday carvery was below average, all meats were fatty and tough, the vegetables had barely seen a boiling pan of water and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. When asked by the manager how our meals were, we very politely said the meat selection was tough. She said she would change their butcher suppliers and then proceeded to ask all surrounding tables around us if they enjoyed their meals to belittle and embarrass us, trying to make out that our feedback wasn't justified. No compensation was offered.

Giving a one star purely because we could park. We went for the car every after reading reviews. However deeply disappointed as not to standard, my husband was served one big slice of fat for the lamb. And what is the cheese potatoes mash all about??? And the roast potatoes clearly cooked from a frozen bag. We won’t be coming back.

Super pub. Brews it's own beers and has guest ales on too. Really friendly staff and locals. Lovely log burner in the main eating area. Will be back for the well reputed carvery later this year!

We booked for Sunday carvery. As they were busy all they could offer us was a table upstairs. We took this. On arrival we were shown to it. A few minutes later the Landlady appeared and said she had arranged a table for us downstairs. This was very considerate of her as we are old and the stairs would not have been easy. We did hear the staff offering to help others. The customers seem to be local people. Families of various ages. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The Pub is very well run, the owners are very visible and missed nothing but at the same time cheerful and chatty with the customers. Oh! and the food was very good.

It was a good experience of an English country meal

Overheard a few comments while standing at the bar by the chef and I found it highly inappropriate and one member of staff looked incredibly uncomfortable. The waitress was lovely and incredibly attentive just a shame about the comments.

Fantastic Sunday Carvery today. Everything was tasty and freshly prepared. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Clean comfy pub with a strong family run feel, friendly service where the staff are attentive but not overbearing. Our first visit for a Sunday carvery was nice and the food is excellent, 6 choices of meat and a generous portions wide selection of veg. Bad points, busy so book early, some of the furniture is showing it’s age ( it was all clean on our visit) Overall will definitely come back

Quality and quantity are fantastic! Steak pie full of the most delicious beef. Their own-brewed beers are great. Homely and so friendly, a traditional pub.

Thursday's are grill night and there is a good choice of steaks and the alike (plus the normal menu) at very reasonable prices. Had a nicely cooked sirloin with excellent chips. Plus there are plenty of gluten free options for both mains and desserts and the chips are cooked in a separate fryer so are also gluten free. Staff are friendly and helpful too. I'd happily eat there again

Very pleasant setting, lovely staff and good choice on lunch menu. Celebrating a family birthday and retirement which was enjoyed by everyone. Food was very good, especially the steak and ale pie.

Myself and 2 friends went for Sunday carvery. We've been before. I had lamb and pork belly. One friend had gammon, and the other beef. There's always multiple meat and veg choices, plus yorkies and stuffing balls. Quality is excellent, and nobody goes home hungry.

Food , service, atmosphere, indoors or out spot on. We highly recommend the pig in muck for a relaxed atmosphere, well done.

Beautiful Sunday roast, lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff. There was a large selection of vegetables for all and the meat was so lean and melted in your mouth. We have booked to go back :-)

On a Sunday carvery if you don’t book a table, the staff will always try to sit you somewhere, the outside additional space, is not usually reserved for diners, and is more used by families with pets, or over spill from main building. People are always given a choice. But the quality of food does not alter, which is always excellent.

Visited this place on 12.6.2022 and was directed to eatin a shed. Went for the carvery where the food was very disappointing . Draughty with the constant traffic of people leaving the door open. We were mislead by the price on their web site was lower than we were actually charged. Will definitely not return.

Never a dull moment or a bad meal here. Tracey and her very able team will ensure you have a great time. Food is excellent pub grub, own brewed beers on tap. We've never had a bad experience here and the food and laughs are what keeps us returning, even though we live a few miles away.

What a lovely place food was great and the staff were lovely my partner and I had a steak each and they were cooked perfectly plenty of the usual goodies on the plate couldn’t fault it

Not been for a while. Sunday carvery was as good I remember, and is value for money. The hospitality is second to none. The table service is well run and ensured a smooth service. Loved it 💕

Great food and really good value.

Brilliant once again the lamb was superb, the lady even gave me the end piece of the joint as she said no one wanted it-some people have no taste, it was lovely, my wife and grandson enjoyed their gammon and turkey as well, we live about thirty minutes away in whitwick and it is always well worth the trip never disappoints.
