This establishment has a fairly simple menu from which the food is wonderful superbly presented and served with a smile. In addition to that the scenery if fantastic. Best way to visit is by the Sir Walter Scott steamship from Trossachs Pier, Loch Katrine

Found this wee place by chance and because the Inversnaid Hotel was not open yet re refurbishment, thank goodness there was a sign at the road junction pointing us in the right direction otherwise would not have known it was there. So glad the Inversnaid Hotel was closed other wise may not have come here. Lovely cute wee bistro with fabulous scenery with seating and tables next to large glass panels over looking Loch Lomond. Great menu too and licensed so I had a wee cheeky prosecco, well it was my birthday! The host was very friendly and very generous too. We opted for the cullen skink and it was delicious, thick with fish and potatoes and fabulous creamy stock and came with hot bread and butter. Fabulous place and well worth a visit. This place is worth diverting to if you are in the area. The coffee and home made scones are reason alone, but the ferry across Loch Katrine stops here too making for a really good day out. There are good marked paths for all abilities and a car free road (except for local traffic) if you want to bike the 14 miles between the ferry stops - and take the ferry back at the end. Its not possible to cycle round the loch, this is strictly along one side only. It's a great ride, but bring a picnic, there is no cafe on route.

The menu wasn't vast but had a couple of daily specials including sole and steak. The restaurant is licensed so we had a reasonably priced bottle of wine with dinner and they have a good selection of bottled beers and lagers. The cake and Earl Grey tea to follow was so good with a great home made taste. Stunning location, great food and welcoming owners. We ate twice here, both lunch and dinner. Lunch was excellent, especially the roasted red pepper soup, and the filled ciabattas were lovely, though how we noticed anything we were eating, given the amazing views from the conservatory, is hard to say. Dinner was similarly impressive: my wife had the chick pea madras, which she liked so much I was tasked with trying to recreate it as soon as we got home from holiday. I of course fell short. The fish and chips was good, but the only criticism I would give is that the chips were not the large, hand-cut ones that would have been a more fitting companion for the excellent fish. My ocean pie was fantastic. Desserts were very elegantly presented, and very, very nice. Normally would not go near cheesecake, but it was certainly enough to convert me. Can't wait to go back. Many thanks also to owners Ciaran and Brian for the very welcome coffees after my early morning bike rides from Forest Hills, sometimes even before they were properly open. Watch out for musical evenings there as well, but the views over the loch, whatever the weather, are unmissable. Also en route were the most perfect views of Highland cattle grazing by Loch Arklet. Must also mention Castro the Labmaraner, a real star of the show. So there you go, a real find. Just make sure you get there somehow.

What a beautiful cafe right on the Loch. Fabulous food, lovely staff, brilliant service. The smoked salmon risotto was the best risotto I've ever had and the Venison burger in brioche bun was beautiful too. Cannot recommend this cafe highly enough!

We hadn’t been to the Gargunnock Inn for years. It certainly didn’t disappoint us. The first thing to note is the friendliness of the service. That made us feel really welcome. The menu contained all

Meal for 5 people. Fish just ok. However the chips were awful, strange off taste. Ladies toilet was disgusting and no toilet roll. Would not recommend this place at all
