I doubt if you could find a more pleasant location for a cafe than this. The village of Finchingfield is stunning, and this cafe fits in perfectly. There are only about half a dozen tables inside but more outside on the village green. Old black and white pictures of film stars cover one wall, which immediately gets the mind racing as to how many you can name. Opposite wall has the work of a local artist for sale, which I guess explains the name of the cafe. I was served by two very polite young gents, obviously making the most of the school holiday. They brought me a perfect cappuccino and a very nice wedge of cake which went down well. So, my stay was about as perfect as it gets.

Read the reviews and was looking forward to having lunch here. The quiche had been reheated in a microwave. The first bite was really hot the rest lukewarm or cold. There was a long grey hair in the salad (mine is neither long or grey). Fruit scone was OK, but I've had much better. Nothing tasted homemade or fresh. For a teashop I was disappointed that the tea was bag and not leaf.

Clean and tidy tea room with a lovely outlook onto the Green at Finchingfield, definitely worth a visit although I imagine it would be packed in the summer as it was pretty busy in January! (the interior is quite small but there are a few tables outside too). Lovely cakes and good tea/coffee. To my knowledge they do not serve lunches although do serve sausage rolls, pasties etc... so if you want more than cake but less than a 3 course meal ... this is the place to get it. Owners very nice and friendly, we've been there a few times and will definitely go back so ...keep up the good work and thank you for making us so welcome.

The couple who run this are extremely kind I had a 90 year old lady with me and the gentleman helped her out if my car and up the steps and did it in reverse when we went home. Also the cakes and warm scones are all to die for can’t recommend them enough, we also had a pot of tea which we couldn’t pick up and pour because we all had arthritis in our hands and again we were helped by the lady pouring the tea for us. The picture port has it all, you look out onto the village green and the tea room itself is very pretty inside. Happy annoying visited today and windy had very thoughtfully put on a small heater as it was a chilly day. Our dog, Joey, was warmly welcomed inside and even given treats. The welcome from Wendy and Nick was very warm, the tea room very quaint and pretty, but most importantly the premises were spotlessly clean. We had tea and cake. The portions are very generous, all in all excellent value for money In a lovely cosy environment, why not pop along yourself, you’ll be pleasantly surprised

We came to Finchingfield for a cream tea today and had the most delicious cream tea in The Picture Pot. I can't understand why is was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon, especially as the scones were warm and fruity, moist, not dry like some - and you get a nice large pot of tea (for 2), all for under a fiver each which is excellent value for money. We turned up in Finchingfield on Saturday afternoon - our first stopping visit to the village for several years. Having had a virtual rebuff from another establishment in the village we called in to the Picture Pot at about 4:15pm. We were given a warm welcome, asked if we wanted to eat 'in or out' and after deciding out due to the extremely fine weather, were provided with a blanket so we could sit on the grass. Warm scones promptly followed, and a moment or two later so di the tea on a tray with feet which raised it off the ground making it easier to use.Over an hour later, we were still sitting on the blanket enjoying the sunshine when we found out they actually closed at 4:30pm. Amazing that the staff hadn't hurried us away much sooner, although we were not the only customers enjoying the fare from the Picture Pot.A lovely afternoon, and we will definitely call back again in the future, hopefully not so late in the afternoon to allow them to close on time!

Bits and bobs to purchase inside. My sister and I had the cream tea. We had the plain scones as we are not keen on scones with fruit, and was told that the plain ones do come up a lot smaller. Came with a small amount of cream, just enough for the scone and one of those tiny jars of jam. Choice of jams. Lovely lady served us, very friendly and helpful. Was very clean which was nice. Due to the step outside to get in I doubt that a wheelchair would manage it, as it was very steep. They also serve a few meals for lunch not just cakes!

My cousins and I regularly meet up along with my Aunt.Today we decided to have afternoon tea in picturesque Finchingfield. Originally we booked another establishment but reviewing their prices decided to change our booking.. the next place for tea was The Picture Pot... We were.not disappointed.Although small they moved tables around to accommodate 8 of us comfortably. The decor is made up of art work for sale by local artists I presume: all exceptionally tasteful and interesting. Although a cold day, it was warm and welcoming at The Picture Pot.They have a lovely menu but we all chose The Lunchtime Tower. For £9.95; you choose your sandwich from the menu, I opted for Brie & Bacon on multi grain.. lovely fresh hand sliced bread, plenty of filling served with salad & crisps... so tasty. This was followed by scrumptious home made scones, jam & clotted cream. You get a choice of drinks with this selection and most of us opted for English tea and we're presented with 2 large pots which was filled as required.. a must I feel when partaking in afternoon tea! One of our party chose from the choice of speciality tea's on the menu and 2 could not resist picking from the luxury hot chocolate choice.I highly recommend The Picture Pot.. thank you for a lovely afternoon.

We felt like we were in her way and stopping her from clearing up. It was a shame as my mother was looking forward to bringing me here as we used to come years ago. Big shame and definitely would advise to try the tea shop opposite instead. Need I say no tip was left. Just a very strange attitude. Sorry I come into a tea shop during your opening times and ordered something cold off your menu!!! Won't be back .... it's a shame it's a pretty little place just a shame it's not a welcoming one.

I wish I could put this in-between average and good. It has potential but it is a little on the small side. Would be great if they started serving more savory options.

What an amazing afternoon. We visited the pretty village Friday afternoon. We went into the Tearooms and was greeted by a extremely friendly lady. I said we would return as all the tables were occupied but the waitress informed me they had blankets available to use on the green. What a great idea!!! We were given some menus and told they would come to us to take our order. It was a beautiful sunny day so we took in the atmosphere. The same waitress came over took our order and before we knew it our teas had arrived on a lovely picnic table. Our warm fresh scones we next and my god they were amazing!! What a wonder afternoon I couldn't have asked for anymore. The two girls I could see working were busy but they created such a happy friendly environment perfect for this lovely Tearooms. I later found out the waitress who served us all the way through was 'Celena' and I would like to thank her personally for a wonderful afternoon!! Many many thanks

A little tea shop in the north of essex not the place you would expect to get possibly the best cream tea in the world the scones were warm they were so moist and soft they crumbled when you bit into them and the staff were under extreme duress yet polite and extremely good natured all in all a lovely place to visit and I would highly recommend the cream tea but be careful you can't stop at one

Not impressed by service here at all - quite abrupt but after ordering a drink - my boyfriend nearly swallowed a dead fly which was underneath the cream and marshmallows half way through - after asking for a new one trying not to make a scene - the waitress told us she 'wouldn't charge for the first one but asked for payment of the second'! Terrible customer service - mistakes happen but to have to pay still was disgusting service and we would not return - rather than cute and vintage it was rundown and tables were dirty - after the fly.at.the bottom of the drink.she made us feel as though we were complaining - politely we paid but am do dissapointed by what a cute tea room should be

On a spontaneous day trip the beloved and I fed up of the A12 and the A120 said lets go back cross country!!At this juncture the beloved remembered Finchingfield from previously watching the English tour de France leg. And hence we hied to said village which was bathed in glorious sunshine and was resplendent. Choice of two teashops here but The Picture Pot struck us as being more intimate. The lady running (owning) the shop was a delight - most friendly and welcoming. The venue was perfectly clean and there was a good and varied menu. Recommend the cream tea and the cheese scones!!It is not a large tea room, covered in pictures/paintings and various other items to sell.Great experience - Would we go back again - Too rights.

We took a visitor from New Zealand to Finchingfield and wanted a short stop for a cup of coffee. We found this little treasure by accident but so glad we did. The service was personal and very friendly. We only had coffee and a cold soft drink but others were having huge fresh door stop sandwiches which looked so inviting - if only we hadn't had a late brunch. We will definitely visit again to taste some of the wonderful sandwiches and thick scones that kept passing us by.

We visited this tea room in Finchingfield today as a group of Harley Davidson Riders. There were 14 of us and we were made most welcome and served with efficiency and a smile. The menu offered a varied choice, but the obvious choice for me was the Scone, clotted cream and strawberry jam, served with a lovely pot of tea. My husband chose the 71% Dark Chocolate drink together with toasted crumpets and butter. What a delightful little Tea Room! The quality of food was excellent and everyone had a lovely Natter as they enjoyed their eats. Great atmosphere and excellent value for money. Will definitely return.

Like many people I checked Trip Advisor before making the 40 mile trip to The Picture Pot with a friend. It was as quaint as described and a short while after entering and looking at the paintings and other curios in the shop, we were told that there would be short wait to be served. We were able to sit at a table outside and enjoy the early May sunshine. The person serving, Debbie I believe her name was, was cheerful and described the scones as being excellent. We opted to try them with jam and cream. As Debbie delivered orders to tables in and outside of the shop, she invariably acknowledged us with a smile and often pausing to have a humorous chat. The day was very busy, with quite a few motor cycling customers sitting on the green and a shop full of diners. Not once did Debbie seem flustered. The scones and accompaniments arrived and were as described. Delicious and warm. When there were fewer customers, Debbie spent longer periods chatting with those present. I can not praise her highly enough - and do forgive me if your name isn't Debbie. We were pleasantly surprised with the price which reflected, to us, very good value.Debbie said the scones were good. They were. She also said that we would come again. We will. Our afternoon of visiting the village and seeing the windmill, was completed by an excellent cream tea at The Picture Pot. Thank you and well done to the staff.

Fantastic service, food and value for money. If you are travelling through or visiting this beautiful village, stop for a bite to eat here and you won't be disappointed. Freshly made sandwiches, with a choice if fillings... Only wish we had enough room for the cakes on display, they looked so inviting....

My family and I visited the Picture Pot Tearooms on Tuesday 5th April for afternoon tea. We were welcomed by a extremely friendly waitress and sat next to the window. What an amazing view of such a pretty village!! We ordered our drink and cakes and they arrived promptly. The Tearooms has some lovely art work on the wall which can also be purchased. The cakes were wonderful and I recommend the cream tea it is to die for. The waitress was extremely helpful. If you ever want to experience something very 'English' visit this gorgeous Tearooms.

Was recommended to come here by a friend. So I thought I'd bring my ex neighbour for lunch as a treat as she's struggling a bit at the moment. I was quite disappointed as the bread for the sandwiches was dry. I did mention it to the waitress, but nothing was done about it.

We had the lunch tower for 2, it was delicious, offering a choice of sandwiches included a side salad and local crisps and two drinks followed by a delicious cream tea each, all for £19.95After having a chat with the waitress, she said in the summer they give out blankets to sit on the grass outside and bring the food out to you. That's got to be a must in the summer chilling out seating by the pond : )
