The Orange Tree in Havering

Well it seemed ok at first then my dog barked for 2 seconds then a young man said If he barks anymore you have to eat in the garden he was so rude and sarcastic he wasn't nice at all the manager told him to come over to us 😡😡

Really nice food in a really nice rustic pub. The staff are friendly and the service is good. Staff are young and inexperienced, but they work hard and I appreciate it is hard to get staff these days, and they will improve with time. I won’t say the food was amazing and the portions are not very generous, but overall the food was good, and we all had a very nice time, with a few laughs and a few giggles. What more can you ask for. It is also a dog friendly venue and there were several dogs with their owners, and they were all very well behaved. Will I visit again? Maybe I will, and maybe I won’t, but only because it is not in a part of London that we normally visit. 😀

Lovely pub and staff great. Been there several times and food good and beer great. This week saw only one real ale on, high ABV at 4.5% and awful, cloudy and warm. Appalling for a pub. This pub seems now to cater for Lager drinkers, very sad but probably due to their clientele. Has put me off returning.

If i could leave half a star i would. We took my father in law to lunch for his birthday, there were 6 adults and a one year old. Our waiter got most of the order wrong, including giving a full priced sunday roast to the one year old and seemed surprised that we said he'd never be able to eat all that. We ordered 3 lamb roasts, all came up raw, one of our guests didn't want a new meal so had nothing. When the 2 new lamb dinners returned, there was some cooked lamb and some raw but it was all mostly fat. Everything was completely overseasoned. We were charged for 7 adult meals even though we ordered 6 but one was returned without a replacement. It was absolutely awful and I'm very disappointed that we were asked to pay full price for everything considering the dreadful experience we had. A ruined birthday lunch. I would steer clear of this place and perhaps go to either The Rabbits or Top Oak which are far superior.

Place is nice, staff are friendly, but the food and drink are expensive. £16 ham egg and chips. The chips were horrible, and the ham processed. Drinks are as expensive as the area will let you get away with. I wouldn't rush back here. Same food good cafe £7! It felt excessive popping here to eat

Very slow service, lousy vinegary beer. Looks a nice place but the quality of their beer is awful. If you like ale, avoid this place.

Shame...seemed like a nice pub, in a nice spot, with several outside tables, but ordered food at 1.30 which arrived at 2.30 after having to ask about it a couple of times. The people behind me in the queue were warned food would be 30-40 mins, but an hour is double that and unacceptable for a light lunch (i.e. sandwiches & ham and chips etc). Our little one was feeling sick with hunger by the time it arrived. We are not problematic clients, and they could have pulled it back with an apology and perhaps an offer of a complimentary drink, but neither were offered. My fries did not appear, again no apology when I went back in to get them refunded. Won't be going back.... Ps. if you do decide to go, the two cooked meals were nice, but both sandwiches were very basic.

Should have listened to previous reviews. Made to feel very unwelcome. Hair in pint, waitress looked so annoyed when we pointed it out, replaced without any acknowledgement/apology. Only 2 people manning busy pub with inside and outside dinning and busy terrace. Better to have closed kitchen if could not cope. would avoid if looking for a nice relaxed meal out and listen to previous reviews that echo the same.

Booked a table for 4.30 told they was shutting at 8, waited 20 mins for first drink. Food was ok but lots of the menu wasn’t available at 7.15 we asked if we could have another drink bearing in mind they was staying opening till 8, but was told no becUse the manager himself said I want to go home . Really we had just spent 143 pounds between 4 of us think it’s disgusting and won’t be going back !!

Food was good, menu a bit limited for the Mrs, but shes fussy. Its not really a pub any more. We wanted to have a few drinks before we ate, but you really need to book and we were sat at a table. We were made to feel they were super busy and we would need to be done by 7, which was not a problem. We were shown to a table round the right side of the pub and we were the only ones there. I really didnt feel welcome and it was like they wanted us out ASAP. Never felt like this before in this pub, we will drink here in the summer when you can use the great facilities in the garden, but wont be back until then, I think it has been taken over recently as it wasnt like this early in 2022. Booked here for the Tuesday night quiz and decided to have a family dinner at the same time. Service was excellent and food was really quite good. The place was, as always, spotlessly clean! Really fun night and good value for the money! Enjoy Guys!

I love this pub, it’s my local. Great outdoor space and dog friendly in the bar. Staff are welcoming and friendly but oh my the quality of the food is soooo disappointing. I really hope it improves soon (although the chips and the pizzas redeem it somewhat). This won’t stop me going to the pub but I won’t be eating there again for a while.

When I was at this pub in 2016 it was run by a lady called connie I think, the food was amazing and the price even better, myself and my family used to go all the time, and for birthdays anniversaries etc. I have been back a couple of times since the new people took it over and I am so dissapointed, the staff are lovely as always, very friendly and welcoming, but the food, what happened to it, it all got very posh pilled up on the plate and not much of it. The prices have gone up loads for less food and not as good, I must admit I am gutted, it was our local place to eat and no one could touch it for food and value. Bring back the old chef please .

Popped in for a bit of lunch today. Great decision. Lovely friendly service and quality food to match. The seafood platter to share for starters was excellent. Plenty of it and a great selection of fish. Nicely hot (apart from the fresh prawns ). My classic ham, egg and chips was excellent, and my partners mango salad was beautifully fresh and presented. There was enough of it she could not finish it. Unfortunately did not leave room for dessert. Next time! Had a nice walk round Bedfords Park after which was needed .

Went today for Sunday dinner which was really nice. However, the waitress that gave us our menus licked her finger and thumb to separate the menus....not the best thing to do when serving customers and there is coronavirus about. We moved seats to sit outside as the table next to us was very very loud. The food was lovely. Staff were pleasant but just wished she would not lick her fingers! Been here many times in the past and every time we go it seems to slowly get worse but this visit was the final nail in the coffin for us!It was a Saturday night and was fairly busy, the young girls were really good at serving and I could not fault them it was just the food that let it down I ordered a chicken burger that was so well done the ends were bordering burnt and where it had been cooked for so long it was so dry, just a small pile of different lettuce on plate ! no onion or tomato the only good thing was the chips. My wife had sea bass which was ok but hardly any sauce and the new potatoes were burnt and the broccoli where do I start! I don't know what had been done to it she couldn't even cut it it was like it was raw but charred at the end.We ordered onion rings as a side and they were soggy and saturated in fat.If you send out a simple thing like a southern fridge chicken burger like that then please don't call yourself a chef!

Being a regular visitor to this pub i was very disappointed with the food I ordered last night Saturday,I ordered rump steak which came with chips 1 mushroom and a tomato,for £17 I thought the steak would have been a juicy medium rare lovely thick piece,instead it looked like i got a flat piece of minute steak from the local supermarket and definitely not medium rare,although i did eat it because i was hungry but i think in future il order something completely different and not waste that sort of money on their steaks

Not our first time and not our last time. My partner and I decided to get back to our pre lock down Thursday evenings and visit the Orange Tree for dinner. My partner ordered ham, eggs and chips whilst I had the liver and bacon. We both “demolished” the lot!!Great wholesome food and lovely staff and atmosphere. See you next week!!!

Don't often write reviews but me and the wife just had a Sunday Roast here and it was absolutely delicious i had the lamb and mrs had beef and i am very fussy about my roast dinners but this was special . Dont know how but even went for dessert ..an apple crumble to die for. Great service. Friendly .

Myself and a small number of work colleagues had lunch here. We ordered from the lunch menu and the main menu. The fish and chips were excellent as was the ham, egg and chips. The lunch menu was good value and a great choice. Our server was knowledgable and very polite and efficient. If there was a very slight niggle I found the background music a bit loud . We will all be back!

We booked here for a works Christmas lunch, 13 of us, pre ordered our meals and from start to finish it was awful, 5 meals were returned and one fish dish was raw.I can not fault the serving staff they were fantastic but the food and lack of things on the menu was very poor. They even forgot to remove our£130 deposit from the bill!Will not be returning next Christmas

First of all when we arrived (a party of 10) the service was terrible! We sat at the table for 30 minutes and the waitress didn't even come over for our drinks order. The food was dreadful - we had bubble & squeak which was the smallest meal I have ever seen and so unlike what it should be - it comprised of mash and a bit of carrot! We had to keep seeking the waitresses to clear the table and for desserts - We haven't even been asked if we want any more drinks.Worse place I have ever been for service and food.Considering it's a week before Christmas we weren't even offered the Christmas menu.Never coming back!! Total rubbish.

I love this pub. Beautifully decorated, great atmosphere, clean and with lovely staff too. Now for the food - I had the pate starter which looked great and was very tasty. Wish it had more of the red cabbage though as this balanced it quite nicely. For mains I had the orange tree pie which was steak and kidney and served with mash, carrots and posh cabbage. It was all very tasty and well worth the money. The gravy did taste overly rich which I've noticed from a few visits. The portion sizes create a very filling meal, so much so, I didn't have room for dessert!

we arrived at just after 5:30pm and although busy with several tables reserved managed for find a table that was free and sit down. After 5 mins decided that we would have to get our own menu's as no waitresses were taking any notice; having decided what were going to eat again couldn't get the attention of any staff. Then 5 minutes later we advised to leave or move to a high table as "our" table was booked from 7pm. Didn't need asking twice so we left and had a very good meal elsewhere. Disappointing as our previous visit we had enjoyed a meal meal - only down side then was waiting 20 mins for our bill!

Booked our table on the same day and had no problem. Ordered the button garlic mushrooms for starters and the cheese sauce was delicious. There was a limited menu due to them being busy and certain foods being off the menu. The foods are cooked to perfection and are plentiful. The staff are very nice, friendly and helpful and the manager is such a nice person and takes time to talk to his customers. This is the best pub in the area and well worth a visit

Top Service. Funny taste gravy over all dinner. Lamb chewy and chunky. Saddle of lamb . Shame, all other meals ok. Couple of quid add on charge and give tender leg of lamb.!! Will try again in a few years time. Adious amigos.

I met some old work colleagues for lunch. We were surprised that there was waitress service. The staff were helpful and friendly. We ate from the lunchtime menu, which consists of sandwiches, Jacket potatoes and wraps. One friend had a tuna jacket, which looked delicious. Myself and the other friend had the Kentucky fried chicken wrap. It came with fries and salad and was excellent and good value at £9. Washed down with a superb pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter. The ambience in the pub was pleasant. The place is popular Highly recommended.

We stopped off here after being at Pavillion laser quest. Great pub interior, good menu, small childrens menu. I has the burger with halloumi cheese, the chips are special, came with water cress drizzle dressing. My daughters enjoyed thier meals, would return. Clean, friendly service, might be worthwhile reserving table at peak times to avoid disappointment.

Having a drink at this place is okay but the food is a whole different story. I paid £13 for food and it was completely average and such a small portion. Paying £13 for food and leaving hungry is completely unacceptable. I’d never eat here again. No chance

Not eaten a Sunday roast here since the refurbishment and my Italian friend wanted to try it. The day before we visited an Italian restaurant in another town and my friend said it wasn’t the greatest pasta. Today my friend said the roast gammon was delicious and the apple crumble and custard was the best and the whole meal beat the expensive Italian meal the day before. Now that’s a great compliment to the Orange Tree. Thanks everyone yet again

Only popping in for a pint, I can't comment on food but plenty of diners seeming to enjoy what they have. Nice ambiance and decor. Tried a Beavertown Ale. It serves well through a chiller (not cask) and drinks well. Very pricey though at £5.50! No prices on show for any drinks so beware. Seems to have attracted about 20 young (underage) people to the garden area who are happily using the covered area and just smoking. Probably not the best thing to see on arrival for a meal.

Been here a few times now and been fantastic every time but this time it was exceptional 3 of us went main courses 1x cod n chips 1x sea bass 1x bbq chicken all very well cooked presented nicely and service was excellent I think her name was sally what an asset to this establishment could not fault a single thing clean tidy efficient well done to all the staff

This is a typical country pub with a log fire. Serving pub classic food. Good selection of beers wines and spirits, also a very good menu. Friendly and helpful staff.

Used to frequent this local pub all the time but not again after last night! Shoddy service tables not cleared and refused food because of a private function a hour later. No notice on door or bar absolutely shambolic. Complained to the manager who said (get this) most people have been here all afternoon now so are happy to leave! It was 7pm!! Round up the regulars and get 'em out was very much the vibe. What a way to treat your bread and butter customers. Hope the function was worth it! Never again plenty more local pubs serving good food.. think on Orange Tree.

Great pub with a fun and loud atmosphere. Room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We stayed in room 12 with a roll top bath which was a nice touch. Breakfast is tasty and comes with the room rate. Hotel is in a brilliant location for shopping, restaurants, bars, and Kew Gardens. Be warned it is rammed when there is a Rugby match on at Twickenham, so be sure to book well in advance if you want to stay here. Best to check the Rugby fixture calendar.

We have been going here for a long time as we are local. Visited just before the refurb for Sunday lunch with family and enjoyed a lovely time and good food. Went again on 16th March after the refurbishment for a birthday lunch. So glad that the redecoration did not take away from this little place! Food was lovely again. The service was good. We will be back.

Visited here Monday the 18th after the refurbishment. What a great improvement it is but still has the old charm it had before. Food was as always excellent and the new additions of the bar went down nicely! I had the Beavertown IPA and the Mrs has a Rhubarb G&T.; We’ll be back!

We arrived and despite all tables being empty the one booked for us had been used! We made our choices only to be told lamb shank wasn’t available. We should have been told when given the menus. The liver and bacon was served very different to how we were expecting it to arrive. The musarka just wasn’t! There were no layers of vegetables and potatoes it was just vegetables with potatoes and cheese on top. Not at all what I’m use to. We then waited ages for the desert menu and there was nothing on it that I fancied. It was very basic.

Took my girlfriend for lunch the other and whilst I was waiting an old lady

Food was lovely and very tasty. Plenty on the plate. My boyfriend is a fussy eater but he said the gammon was the best he had tasted in ages. Staff were friendly. Looking forward to returning.
