Extremely high standard of cuisine coupled with a great restaurant atmosphere. Very courteous, happy staff. Lovely relaxing outdoor setup. Can’t fault this place. A real pleasure x

We really enjoyed celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary in the secret garden. The meal was lovely and the tables gave plenty of room to keep everyone safe (Covid). The staff were very nice and attentive. Only negative was we were expecting a heater for our table but they don't have them in the secret garden. Lucky for us it wasn't too cold.

This wasn't my first visit to the Onslow Arms. I've eaten here perhaps a dozen times over the last five years and it continues to impress me with it's high quality of food and service, well kept beer and decent wine list. Since coronavirus drove us all outdoors, they have adapted really well and have an extensive, covered and partially heated courtyard dining area. it's a really lovely outdoor environment and now that we're allowed back indoors, I really hope they maintain this facility as it is. Many years ago, the Onslow Arms used to boast that it was the only pub in Surrey with its own helicopter pad! These days, I'd say it consistently hovers above most of the other pub eateries I've tried.

What can I say. So lovely to see friends back at our fave pub. Such a slick operation felt so covid safe. Wonderful warm and cosy set up. We all managed to stuff three courses. Two of us had oriental chicken, two ham terrine. A burger, fish and chips, another fish main and I had a delicious pie. The pastry was rich but I managed to eat it all. We all had desserts and coffee. We all had two drinks as well and well under £50 a head including tip. Our only thing that was a bit disappointing is bang bang chicken is off the menu. Also garlic bread was off the menu. . But we managed to hide our tears with our second choices. The little snug we sat in has been made so homely heaters everywhere, rugs in a box couldn't be more warm and snug despite the rain. In fact everywhere was well protected. We will be back in less than two weeks. And have already made our third booking.

Wonderful lunch today, outstanding food and service. A perfect setting outside, own roofed table, heater and fairy lights. The rain didn’t matter in the slightest! Wow this team have really stepped up and delivered a truly special experience to the customer. Hats off to you all.

This was a first visit as I don't live in the area. Online booking was not great because the description of what outside seating is available was hard to understand. However on arrival I was very impressed by the Covid precautions, the system that has been put in for arrival and moving round the pub and the provision of well covered and heated outdoor seating. I also had a query about a future booking which was very helpfully dealt with by the person who greeted me at the outdoor reception desk. Service was very good, non intrusive, helpful and just right on timing. Drinks and food arrived propmptly. Food is mostly standard pub grub fare, I had the veggie burger which was in fact vegan and my friend went for the fish and chips. Both were good. There were also other vegan/ vegetarian options. Good selection of wines by the glass and large wine choice in bottles.

Three friends having a special lunch together in the courtyard for the first time in a year. We were welcomed, seated and attended to very efficiently, The courtyard had a lovely atmosphere and the tarpaulin above felt like it had always been there with lights etc.Our lunch was lovely and we all felt happy to be back at the Onslow.

Excellent service and food made for a super lunch in well screened and civilised garden. Definitely be back soon.

The ‘Secret Garden’ was charming and comfortable. Our waiters provided paper menus; when requested by my friend in preference to the App. Proper linen napkins were a surprising addition to the table setting. Our drinks and food came promptly and the food was very good. Properly cooked poached eggs benedict with a crab twist were delicious. I will definitely return.

First meal out for my husband and I since last lockdown. I booked early(6:15) and although the heaters were great by 8:00 my feet were getting cold. Food was delicious, we were both very pleased with our meals and the waitress who looked after us.

We have eaten here twice since full lockdown ended, both times in the barn as we are still not allowed indoors (except for loo visits!), both times with friends.The staff are friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. The food, almost without exception, has been very good. Wouldn't have the burger again, but that's probably personal taste. The fishy things have been wonderful - specials of scallops, a half-pint of prawns, and fillet of hake on chard were highlights this last time. Others had battered fish, which is huge and reliably good; the thrice-cooked chips are not to be missed! Interesting puds and a varied wine list complete the experience.

We had lunch today in the garden barn- it was delicious and the setting superb. We were served by William who was very attentive and great with the children in our group. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon, thank you all

I went to The Onslow Arms for dinner with one of my friends and we were seated on one of the outside tables under the teepee. The way that they have decorated the outdoor area is lovely, with little touches such as fairy lights, and they had plenty of heaters so I actually was able to remove my coat and did not require the spare jumper I had taken with me! The service and food was great quality as always! I recommend the Camembert to share as a starter.

I have not stopped talking about how well they are doing things here. Lots of covered and heated outside dining, together with their Secret Garden, which is not heated or covered, and looks like an overflow area but I am sure on hot sunny summers days will be first choice for many. Food was excellent, staff very lovely and friendly, and service spot on. Highly recommended.

I booked this pub for 6 people but could only get the secret garden which is not heated and they cannot guarantee a parasol. I took the risk hoping weather might get warmer. It didn't. At the point I was thinking (several days before) maybe I will reschedule, I got an email from Amy at The Onlsow Arms to say a table in the covered area had been cancelled and she had moved my booking. The table was surrounded by heaters and so warm. It was also really cosy and my friends and I could chat comfortably all evening. The food was excellent and the service lovely. My big shout out is to Amy! Excellent proactive customer service that means 6 people very ready to come back for other events. Thanks Amy

Reviewing the Onslow again to congratulate them on how well they deal with the Covid dining rules. Very cosy with the heating, well spaced, staff fully trained in the correct process, friendly relaxed atmosphere - and most importantly the food delicious!

The Onslow Arms is a wonderful pub. The food, staff and service are always first rate.I often meet my friends there for lunch. The menus are varied and the food is always delicious and served well. The Sunday roasts are exceptional. I highly recommend the Onslow Arms. We saw Ian again yesterday - our usual waiter and he was so welcoming!Great to be back. As usual the Onslow didnt disappoint. So glad to be able to go out to eat again and although we were sitting in the walled garden area (which was still chilly) the food was good. Only comment would be the puddings could be a bit more adventurous.

So nice to be back at the onslow after lockdown, we were lucky to be in the covered area and service was quick. Can’t wait until they can open indoors again.

Very well organised table seating and escorted to our secret garden table from the outside table reception. We had a really hard choice choosing our lunch, as it all sounded fab! I had the ham hock croquettes , (very hammy)with a side of chunky chips, which were so sooo good. Crispy on the outside and soft potato on the inside without being greasy. (Must of been triple cooked). No room for pudding but we saw some coming out and they looked delicious. Shame the chocolate brownie has disappeared from the menu, as it’s my sons all time favourite dessert there,over the years. Please bring it back on.We’ll be back again before too long!

Great outside space but really below average uninspiring menu. Sat in the worst place possible with ineffectual heating & the only place with tarpaulin flapping above our heads. Asked to move but no other space apparently - at least we weren’t pushed out to the ‘secret’ garden. Good ambience but a victim of its own success & reading other reviews standards must have slipped.

We booked via the website and it was very clear about which areas have heaters and which don’t. A few hours before arrival, we received an email noting that there might be rain and there was a risk of getting wet, though the parasols are a good size. We could have asked to alter the booking but we were happy to go ahead and as long as you layer up, it’s absolutely fine. There was a basket of blankets I believe - we didn’t need them but 4 ladies did. For goodness sake, below 12 degrees, wear a jumper! The app worked perfectly, service was very prompt, helpful and friendly and everyone seemed on top of their game. The food was great and we thought the menu was much better than some others who have reduced their menu basically to fish and chips, burger or one veggie option. There was plenty of choice here and portion sizes are generous. If you have salmon niçoise followed by the burger, you may need to be carried home. Thanks to all for keeping things safe too.

i would certainly concur with the previous review. On arrival we also had to wait several minutes to be greeted. The welcome was not there, no sorry you had to wait etc. as in yes what do you want! The wood burners do blow out a lot of ash and make the garden smokey and unpleasant. so yes get rid of those and a warm welcome would have made it 5 stars. you can use the app. to order or the wait staff will come to your table. the waiting staff are friendly and efficient and the food was good although the menu is only like you would cook at home. it would also be nice to have the specials also on a menu. that way you can see the price and not get a shock when you see the bill for an expensive special starter.

The service was friendly and attentive and the food was well up to Onslow Arms standards. We chose scallops followed by Dover sole from the day's specials. Both were excellently prepared and presented. The only negative points were the two wood burning heaters which, being smoky, were placed too far from the tables to be of any practical use and the fact that your knees got cold under the table because blankets were not being loaned out, presumably due to Covid-19. Solution - take your own blankets.

On arrival we had to wait several minutes to be greeted. The welcome was frosty to say the least. The wood burners then blew a lot of Ash over us during the meal. Get rid of those and a warm welcome would have made it a 5. They were the negatives, the actual waiting staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was delishious as always.

Staff were so friendly and remembered us from the last visit. Food and wine excellent as usual. The atmosphere outside was great and the heaters were on, so nice and warm. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent anniversary meal this (late) lunchtime. Well wrapped up because of the cool and wet weather, but nicely covered. The wall heaters and provided blankets were very welcome. The food and wine were very good as usual and the staff were as friendly and efficient as always.

Brilliant place to eat for any occasion. We love it here, been a fair few times over the years. The food is incredibly nice with excellent service.

I can highly recommend this restaurant! I visited with work colleagues and we were working away from home so unfamiliar with area and where to eat! Booked the secret garden! It was impeccable service! We were provided with blankets! The food and drinks we ordered via an app- which I was a bit apprehensive but actually it worked so well and was easy and within minutes drinks/ cutlery arrived and there was only a short wait for food! My colleagues has the fish and chips which they said was delicious and I had the most expensive meal on the menu so wasn’t sure if should choose but I am so so glad I did! The rib eye steak was so succulent and cooked to perfection! thank you to staff for a wonderful eve with amazing food

After a long walk around Hatchlands Park my wife and I arrived at Onslow Arms for our lunchtime reservation. We had a perfect table in the garden, the sun shone, the staff were delightful and our meal was first class !!! Perfect fish and chips and peas, two beers and we were more than satisfied. Highly recommended for an informal, very relaxing couple of hours. Thank you to everyone there !!

Excellent service and very well organised . Sat undercover in the barn with lovely warm heaters on a chilly evening. Very can do attitude from all the staff and the food was outstanding. Couldn’t have asked for anything to be better. Thank you!

Well organised staff and polite. Very clean toilets. The service was friendly and consistent. It was busy but the waiter relocated to us to a table in the sun after a guest left which was thoughtful. The food was delicious. May seem small but I like my food piping hot when brought to the table and it was!! Will definitely go again

Had to write a review after having the best experience at the Onslow Arms on Thursday. First meal out since lockdown eased and it was perfect. Secret Garden is fantastic with a lovely atmosphere - we had sun and shade so could move as we pleased, the service was fast and attentive to check we were okay with the app etc. and that we wanted our food all at the same time. Food was outstanding. All the inside doors on the way to the toilet are left open and there is sanitiser everywhere so no need to worry about not feeling safe. Mirrored an outstanding outdoor experience in December - the team should be very proud how they have adapted and continued the high standard the Onslow has always had - thank you!!

I booked a table in the secret garden for a beer after a round of golf at Clandon. Very friendly and efficient service from the staff. Would definitely recommend.

I have been visiting the Onslow for almost 40 years and have over the past 10 years or so been very critical about the quality of the food and the cooking.Went for lunch last Friday and delighted to say say the food and service were very goood.Well done to Youngs and the team.

The pub garden looked amazing and the service and food of the highest quality. I couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate my birthday under the current Covid-19 restrictions. Will be looking to return very soon 🍻🥂🍾🍸

My husband and I met friends for lunch at the Onslow Arms as we have always enjoyed our visits there in the past. They were very well organised re the current guidelines and we were seated undercover. The menu was varied and we all enjoyed our meal choices. My husband had the chicken kiev, I agree with a previous review about having to order a potato side to go with this. Having said that we have no complaints about the food, which was delicious, and the service was very efficient. It was a bit chilly but the weather is uncontrollable, we suggest you take layers if the weather looks a little inclement. I have no hesitation in recommending a visit. The interior of the pub is really nice too.

I have come to The Onslow Arms for years on a fairly regular basis with friends but have never before had lunch outside. The garden area is large, very prettily maintained with flowers and other decorations and partly undercover - again very attractive. Lunch is always good as is the service.

visited on the 19th April (the first available date after it re-opened on the 12th. There was a purpose built awning in the garden area, and we were seated in a booth for two, complete with electric heating. The usual suspects, Ian, Amy and Frances welcomed us back. The food was excellent and the service impeccable - as usual. Have booked for the 30th, so make sure I get a good table. Once again, many thanks, Diane and Mick Turner.

After too long an absence we returned to our Onslow Arms and had the best lunch ever, welcomed with big smiles by Barry and his wonderful team. The addition of Minuty Rose was especially appreciated. We'll be back!

Went for lunch with a friend. They have done an excellent job in making the most of the outside spaces for COVID purposes. Food was very good and I had scallops starter as a special and the marinara specials which was made gluten free. Some gluten free pasta would have been welcome instead of half a slice of gf bread. Otherwise, it was very busy.

Had a wonderful lunch celebrating my mother’s 93rd birthday. Excellent food and service. Outside courtyard has been made very welcoming and has well positioned heaters and is mostly covered. Highly recommended

We were seated immediately and were offered drinks straight away; and they remained attentive throughout. The menu was simple but we all had different meals. They came out quickly and were all very tasty. Would highly recommend for friends and family.

Hi just wanted to thank you for a brillant evening . We had dinner with friends . Fabulous setting in an outside heated Barn style gazebo with a walled garden . Service was excellent and catered for all our needs as 2 were vegetarians . It was a comprehensive menu and the food was delicious it came hot and very well presented.So glad we chose this for a first meal out after lockdown.Thank you we will be back very soon . The staff were great and the location with a heater excellent. But with a menu which did not show Gluten Free options was a real disappointment. It caused all sorts of issues and embarrassment . Maybe because their choice was so poor. TThe choice was not very good but what we had was well cooked and well presented.

We went there the 13th April 2021 and we had a fab table in between the fires under the canopy (which is fab by the way!) The staff were friendly and attentive. I used the app to order the food and drinks - although the staff were around to take our orders I thought it would be good to try and our drinks came out within minutes and our food was quick, hot and delicious. 100% going back there soon, thank you

Visited on Monday after re-opening following lockdown. Very warm welcome as usual. We throughly enjoyed our choice of food from the new menu highly recommend the Smoked ham croquette and the Crab Cakes, The Onslow Burger was delicious I totally disagree with the previous review and the Shropshire Chicken Kiev was moist and very flavoursome, our meals were piping hot and well presented. Well done to all the staff our visit was Perfect in every way!

Had looked forward to revisiting what was an excellent pub. However the quality of food was poor. Small portions of fish and the fish soup had a lot of closed mussels in it. Service and beer was fine but more expensive. Will not be rushing back!

As expected from one of our favourite pub/restaurants, the food was plentiful, well presented and excellent quality. As usual the staff were friendly and the service was perfect. There were plenty of heaters so it was not a problem eating outside.

We met friends for lunch outside at The Onslow Arms and had a very enjoyable meal. Right from the start we were looked after exceptionally well by Frances who ensured we had everything we needed and when we needed. The tables have been set out really well and the heating under cover of a marquee style roof was very efficient. The food was delicious and served piping hot. Plenty of food and drink choices. We all enjoyed our food and the service, will definitely go back.

Popped in for soup and a sandwich - both delicious. The restaurant was warm and relaxed. The service was professional, charming and swift. Meticulous adherence to COVID rules. We really enjoyed the outing. We’ll be back soon.

This is a brilliant restaurant! We have visited 3 times in the last few weeks and each time we have had an equally great experience. All the staff are helpful and welcoming. They do everything they can to provide a safe and delicious meal. We have been regular customers over the years and I would say the food has improved. Since the pandemic, we have only eaten outside and the improvements made to the outside facilities have guaranteed a warm, comfortable meal. Despite completely varied weather conditions we have had lovely meals. The restaurant has worked hard to make sure that each meal keeps warm by ensuring they are all served on warm plates and certainly this has meant that I have eaten very well and not experienced any deterioration in the quality because of the temperatures. Recently I have tried the Christmas lunch and the turkey was wonderful with an impressive selection of vegetables, the steak which was beautifully cooked and very tasty and a burger (also very tasty). My companions have eaten from the rest of the menu and everyone has enjoyed what they have eaten (this includes delicious specials and other parts of the a la carte menu). I am a super critical customer and just don’t return if I have been disappointed - this restaurant deserves the heartiest of congratulations for the brilliant way that they have responded to the changing conditions that they are dealing with while still serving delicious food.

This used to be our favourite restaurant but standards are slipping. I have visited twice in the last three weeks. First time the terrible £8 crab starter was returned to the kitchen as it tasted like crab paste from a jar and was served on hard bread. The second time our cocktails didn’t arrive even though we chased up, they turned up with the starter and wine. There were no apologies, in fact the waiter seemed irritated by my complaint. That time which was my birthday, I ordered the scallops for £13.50. They had been left on the pass, were cold and rubbery. The prices are such that good quality food and service should be as it used to be under the former ownership but alas it is not so, we won’t be returning.

As my friend and I cannot meet in each others houses we enjoyed a delightful lunch yesterday "outside" on your courtyard. Excellent food, friendly, cheerful staff and with the heaters we were very warm and we survived a torrential rain storm with only slightly wet feet-I knew it was sensible to wear my gardening boots!I look forward to coming again soon. Given that the insane government measures in place made my normal pre-Christmas family get together more difficult, and given that I don’t normally eat Sunday lunch outdoors in December, this cost to the Onslow Arms was a great success. They have done wonders with the outside arrangements, roof coverings, heaters, etc. The service was quick, friendly and willing, and the Sunday roast very good. Eat it quickly, though, if you don’t like rapidly cooling food. Not the Onslow’s fault. I’d come again and eat outside - even before it gets warmer.

Our second visit and it more than equalled the first. Very safe environment in these difficult times and we cannot fault the staff for their service, friendliness and how they conducted themselves.Food was excellent and enjoyed by everyone. Portions generous and service just right.We will be back - thoroughly recommend!

A Christmas lunch with 2 wonderful friends. Sat outside in a covered, sheltered and heated area - fab. Even offered blankets! Food and service absolutely superb and cannot thank the staff enough. Fish and Chips excellent as were the burgers and sausages!! Desserts amazing - forget dieting if you eat at this lovely restaurant. We will be back soon.

As always, very welcoming even with current situation (mask wearing etc). Service was great, about from staffs lack of knowledge. I enquired about the sea bass and it’s size etc. I was told it was a thick square, not dissimilar to a salmon fillet. What I actually got was a wafer thin fillet with inedible skin on it. The fish meat tasted amazing, but wouldn’t have ordered if it had been described correctly. When I questioned the waiter, he couldn’t give me an explanation to his description and wandered off ! Was really disappointed as it was our anniversary dinner, and we haven’t managed to venture out with lock downs etc until then. Such a shame as the starter (Camembert) was out of this world. Minor issue, but put a bit of a dampener on a special meal.

Beautiful cosy Christmas feel about the place, absolutely beautiful inside with the old beams, my husband and me enjoyed the fillet steak and the cheese board, the service by a lovely young lady was wonderful, will definitely be back for my birthday Thank you all at the Onslow Arms.

Well, what can I say? First visit for us since refurb and sale to Young's Brewery ,and it certainly wont be the last. Andrea and the team there could not have improved the experience. Seated outside with cozy heater above our heads and warm blankets wrapped around our legs. We were greeted with a smile and taken to our table. The option is given to order through their very clever ap, or with table service. We opted for ordering from the delightful Andrea and were quickly brought drinks . our starters arrived in very quick time considering this was 1.15pm Saturday lunchtime and very busy. What was more incredible was their ability to serve food still piping hot outside on a very cold day........remarkable some places cant even manage it on a summer's day inside !! Our mains did not do anything to lessen the experience. Again piping hot and quickly delivered. The whole experience was an absolute joy and what a pleasure to find a business that has embraced the dreadful problems the hospitality industry is suffering and worked around it and provided a first class experience.... Well done Onslow Arms, we will be back (As Arnie would say)

We have eaten here before but chose it specifically to meet friends last night for its covered heated outside space. It had been done very well - was warm, had a super atmosphere and felt covid safe. The service was attentive and the food was very good. Would highly recommend.

We have been shielding, so it was a joy to be given a cosy table in the restaurant for our lunch, all the tables spaced well apart. A nice touch was the carafe of water that was put on the table, as were the starched white napkins. My husband had a burger with lovely thick cut chips, I had home made soup with a smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwich (although they offered to change this if I preferred a traditional enclosed sandwich). All beautifully presented and very tasty. We have had many meals at the Onslow and with their friendly and helpful staff, it never fails to impress.

We like to go for a drive and a walk followed with a good pub meal. Trip Advisor said this was no.1 so we booked to sit outside for a late meal and the welcome was the first clue. The young lady with a pony tail gave us a big smile and took us to a table with a patio heater. We were tired after our 8 mile walk and looking forward to a warm drink and perhaps a pie.Well the mulled wine cider was a real winner, i had another, but then i wasn't driving.A cheery young man with a beard served us then took our food order. My wife asked for another blanket for her legs and this was supplied quickly.The xmas menu was extensive and we could see people tucking into the usual, so we ordered one and some starters and I asked the waiter to make a selection for us.Well I just wish I had room for the dessert as I was so replete, which is a good excuse to go back again and have one starter and lots of puddings.

Booked on line and asked for an outside table due to Tier ratings and given exactly what I requested - the covered area outside was perfect, it had heating and blankets to stave off the cold. We went for the al la Carte menu rather than the festive menu which was full of old favourites and some specials, we had fish and chips, meat & all pie and the two beef special, the beer was Youngs special which I love and reasonably priced, my other two guest had red wine which was good and fairly priced. All in all a lovely meal with excellent service.

We had to sit outside and it was freezing, I used the blanket over my legs. I had the chicken Kiev which was served with mushrooms and cabbage so I had to order chips extra side which I begrudged . The sea bass was good. We were given the wrong pudding menu so couldn’t have our choices but when we were given the correct menu every dessert contained nuts(allergy) except sticky toffee pudding which neither of us like. We went without. I was horrified to be charged £6.50 for a mulled cider too. Not as good as usual I’m afraid

We are never disappointed when we visit. The food is excellent and the atmosphere fantastic, despite Covid restrictions. Huge thanks to all the staff who work so hard! See you again soon!

After a month long lockdown it was great to be able to the pub for a Sunday roast and as always, the Onslow never disappoints. The food is amazing, and certainly one of the best Sunday roasts in the Surrey area. Aside from the food, the pub itself is also great and the outisde terrace is amazing for those sunny warmer days or just for drinks.

This is a lovely place, but with Covid times and us being 3 from 2 bubbles, we had to sit outside. We chose it and travelled 70 miles each way as we knew it had a lovely courtyard and the food has always been great.We were not disappointed.The staff had done an excellent job to make Al Fresco dining in mid December as good as possible. Everyone was offered quality blankets, and tables had heaters next to them. Service was lovely; food was quick and piping hot. A real treat and a real demonstration how proper thinking, investment and preparation can produce the right outcome in the most challenging of times. Thanks guys!

brilliant sunday lunch, hope to back soon , if there is booking availability. This not our first visit nor will it be our last

Not having been to the Onslow Arms for the best part of a year, as soon as the November lockdown was over we booked up to lunch there. A few people had had the same idea, as the Onslow has a faithful clientele, but nothing like the numbers you would expect to see there in normal times.There were a few tables occupied on the patio, warmed by those external heaters, but their occupants looked a little chilly. Fortunately we didn't have to join them in their heat deprivation, and headed for the much warmer interior.The service at the Onslow is always excellent, but with the reduced numbers of diners, this time it was even better. Our aperitifs and starters reached our tables almost before we had ordered them. I'm always impressed that this restaurant doesn't need to boast a vast array of dishes to prove its credentials: around a dozen starters and the same number of main courses is all that diners need to have a real choice.As always, the food was carefully selected and beautifully cooked, and the quantities so generous that a dessert was out of the question. My only regrets are that there were several other dishes on the menu which I'd have like to sample, and that it might be a little while before we can get back there again.

This was my first time here but will certainly be back. They’ve adapted amazingly to serve outside within the latest rules. We had the set Christmas menu which was excellent. The food was piping hot despite being 2 degrees air temp!! Had the feeling of eating in a snow chalet. Great atmosphere, terrific service, super friendly. Wrap up warm, although they even supply blankets!!

This is a wonderful pub. The food and service are always first rate. We travel nearly an hour to get there because it’s worth it. Highly recommended.

We visited this place regularly pre lockdown and we’re delighted to return on 2nd Dec. We were made to feel welcome, safe and presented with a new menu. The food was delicious and the service was great!

Visited three evenings this month... sat outside. Staff were charming and cheerful. Most menu choices been tried ...all beautifully cooked. Already booked for December. Full marks

We had a squid starter followed by Mussels in a broth plus I had Fish and Chips. They were cooked beautifully and the service was excellent. We will certainly be back.

Always a treat to come here especially on their last night for a while. Even tho change of ownership standards remain as high as ever and the service is exemplary Delicious fish and chips with samphire tartare sauce....only just had room for wonderful crème brûlée!Thank you and hope to be back next month

Visited here a few times when in the area visiting. Again a great lunch today - fabulous fish and chips, moules and delicious desserts. Friendly, great service. Really nice pub serving excellent food.

There may have been a change of ownership but I am very pleased to say that the standard of food and service remain consistently high and good value. The 'atmosphere' is obviously affected by the current Covid situation (which is only to be expected) but hopefully everything will return to normal one day. As for comparing The Onslow to a 'Spoons' (see an earlier review) - take that one with a huge pinch of salt.

This was the second time I had been for lunch at the onslow arms during the Covid crisis.The staff were superb ... friendly, efficient and generally lovely during what must be a very hard time for them all. We had two really delicious meals ... scrumptious sea bass and gorgeous calves liver .. beautifully presented and perfectly chilled wines I couldn't fault the whole thing... love the place ... clear signs, very convenient parking .. all marvellous .. thank you so much Just so sad we can't come back imminently but rest assured we will be there just as soon as we are allowed

Feels a bit like a spoons, charges gastro pub prices. Have had the same menu since the summer, try harder! Wouldn’t go again.

We had booked a table (in person) for 6.15pm. We had arrived early, so sadly no tables inside for us to sit and have and have a drink, so we sat outside. Outdoor halogen heaters kept us warm, until out tahble was ready. Busy night in the restaurant. The fish and chips off the menu was superb. Crispy hot chips (good portion) and fish good to perfection. The only slight thing that spoilt the evening is that out of interest i asked how long we had the table for. We were told we would have to vacate it latest by 8.05pm. That gave us 1h45mins, but less because we hadn't ordered at this stage, to order, eat our meal, pay and leave. We complained, and so some time adjustment was given to us. Great that they met our needs. So please if you do go a word of warning, if there are only 2 of you, be aware of the fixed time allocated to your booking (tables of 4 get longer time !!). I have been going to the Onslow Arms for decades and have always rated this restaurant. But change has happened, new Brewery ownership, so wanting bigger profits. All i can say, is please not too many changes, otherwise this lovely local Surrey pub will lose its gloss with those loyal Surrey residents who have supported it for years.

Despite Covid 19 the welcome was warm, the service friendly well trained and impeccable (thank you Charlotte) and we had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch on a cold wet day. We recommend the moules and the sea bass. The Eton mess was a work of art.

Went for dinner Tuesday evening and we enjoyed the usual high standards of both service and high quality food. Very welcoming, we had complete confidence in their COVID arrangements and hope customers continue to support such a lovely restaurant in our local community.

Lovely decor, service was excellent and food very reasonably priced. The starter (squid) and main (roast pork belly) were of a very high standard, very tasty and good portion service. I found the desert (sticky toffee pudding) to be nothing special and the weakest course.

Wonderful lunch and friendly helpful staff . A well thought out one way system. We felt welcome and safe eating lunch .

We decided to try the Onslow Arms for Sunday lunch. We’ve been back twice since it reopened, but never for the traditional “Roast”. £20.95 for two courses, excellent value, lovely food, the staff were as courteous and professional as always. Our party of 4 were celebrating a birthday. I’d phoned earlier in the week to check that I could bring in a birthday cake. After lunch the staff paraded the cake and candles singing happy birthday to our highly delighted 85 year old friend. Lovely afternoon, can’t wait for our next visit.

Steak, veg burger and sea bass. All fantastic and the attentive service and fast kitchen even when busy was impressive.
