The Olive Tree in Conwy

I dropped my teenager off before work and they went for brunch before visiting the orthodontist. What a waste of money, chips under cooked, hard fried egg, gammon as tough as old boots! I need to teach them to complain rather than waste my money on food they can't eat. Very disappointed.

Terrible, hairs on food, cheap food, greasy, egg was like an omelette gone wrong on a breakfast. Absolutely terrible

We stumbled across this place when we were looking for something to eat on a day out, OMG ... Outside isnt anything special but the owners were friendly and the food was absolute brilliant. All served with a smile, we have marked this place on our map and its worth visiting again soon.

Pleasant place, 2 minutes from Colwyn Bay train station. Friendly welcome, nice and clean with tasty well priced food. We had the full breakfast which was great value and very filling.

An extremely bad experience in this cafe this morning. A friend and I went for a takeaway bap and we tried to explain to the lady who popped up from behind the counter like Gordon the Gopher trying to escape from Philip Scoffield! She didn’t understand what we had asked for, the order was double bacon, double sausage on a brown bap with brown sauce X2! After waiting over 15 minutes for this massive order, we where handed 1 sausage, 1 bacon on a grilled bap and had 2 sachets thrown at us and then they wanted to relieve us of five of the kings pounds for that box of Sh1t! I felt like my financial pants had been pulled down! I tasted like greasy boot leather and the hot fat flowed out of it. I hope the seagulls enjoyed it! Mean while my friend tried to haggle with the head cook over the price and he proceeded to walk out without it ! Extremely rude and will never put a foot over the door way again!

Delicious food. Staff is friendly and very helpful also attentive. Looking forward to visiting again.

We called to Colwyn Bay, supposedly for its market on our way to Llandudno. From outside, the place didn't look anything special, but it had a menu/prices in the window, so worth a visit. The presentation of the food was well above what you expect from a cafe and polite and friendly staff too. Would not hesitate to visit again as so close to the A55 when passing through.

First time getting food from here and it will definitely be last. £11 for 2 stingy breakfast baps that were so burnt you could snap the bacon in half.

We came across the Olive Tree, when most of the other eating places were shut. Absolutely lovely meal and nicely presented. Prices were good too. Will readily recommend to go there.

I had bacon egg a sausage on a bap it was 5 pounds. Only had 1 bacon 1 sausage and 1 egg. Very disappointed for the money paid. However staff are nice and the place is very clean

Came here for some lunch with family. Left absolutely gobsmacked with the attitude of the staff. The eggs Benedict 2/4 of us ordered was very poor quality. The bacon was mostly made of fat, had to cut into small pieces to prevent any choking. The hollandaise sauce sat on the plate like jelly and tasted bland. The chef had covered the plate in balsamic vinegar so the bread was drenched which went all soggy. We very politely called the older guy who served us to complain, he then offered something else but we refused as by now we had gone past the point of being hungry. There was no apology from staff. When coming to pay they expected us to pay for food we hadn’t eaten and weren’t happy with! The two younger men who also worked in there were sat at a table until we had refused to pay. They involved themselves along with the woman chef. They started becoming abrupt and aggressive towards me and my family. Getting in our faces and interrupting our conversation with the gentleman behind the till. Being 4 of them shouting at us because we refused to pay for the eggs benedict then became intimidating and quite frankly pathetic. They had no respect for the other customers who were sat in the cafe.The moment we had complained the woman chef was in the kitchen area (our table was next to the kitchen) speaking loudly across to the other staff in their own language. Baring in mind the kitchen area is open and it was made obvious she was talking about us. A simple apology wasn’t given. I offered to pay for everything we had ordered minus the benedicts but this wasn’t good enough they wanted the full bill. This family run business should be ashamed of their behaviour. Definitely won’t be returning. And have lost custom due to this! They own the kebab shop also a couple doors down where they sell halal meat. They use the same meat in the cafe which they do not advertise!

I think the 1 star ratings on here are particularly harsh....seriously, a place has to be filthy and food cold for marks like that. Anyway, our breakfast was piping hot, we had Full English and Eggs Benedict, with decent portion sizes to leave you full for the day. Owner was pleasant and vibe was good. For a local cafe with pretty good prices its worth a visit if you're in the area...

For a run down town that's seen better days Colwyn Bay has a surprising good selection of places to go for lunch, certainly much better than it's more illustrious neighbour Llandudno. It's because of this that until recently I'd never set foot in The Olive Tree. As you walk past and look through the window it all looks a little bit basic compared to much of the competition. However in the wet and windy days between Christmas and New Year most of the competition had stayed closed so it was The Olive Tree or nothing, and I have to say I'm now a convert. The menu is largely made up of "traditional" cafe fayre but there are a few interesting looking Mediterranean dishes mixed in. On this occasion I decided to be a bit boring so ordered an omelette, which was served up in good time and was a fair old size and came with oven chips and a salad that looked a bit drab but was livened up by a drizzle of vinaigrette dressing. It was tasty, filling and very reasonably priced and the service was friendly and efficient. I will be back!

Was looking for a breakfast me and my bro, then I remembered this place, the food is good quality and presentation. Perfectly cooked eggs and mushrooms, nice veg sausage. My bro loved the normal meat breakfast too. Coffee included in the price so good value considering the high standards

Just had a Full English breakfast here for the first time. It was amazing. Huge, perfectly cooked and well presented. I like my breakfasts, and this will be the first of many visits here

Took a seat and started to peruse the menu and the waitress was hovering near the table and approached to ask what we wanted not 2 minutes after sitting down.After looking through the menu for a couple more minutes she came back to ask what we wanted. I asked if I could have a baguette with cheese and onion instead of cheese and tomato which she said wouldn't be a problem and we both confirmed I didn't want the tomato. I also ordered a side of chips. She didn't write our orders down she just went straight to the counter and told the cook.After around 5-10 minutes a different man bought over the food. My baguette was cooked, with cheese, onion and tomato on it. I sent it back as I can't eat tomato and had already been told I could have a baguette without. They bought back a new one but I never received the side of chips. Also the man who bought over the food spent a lot of his time sitting near the tables on his phone and generally looking bored. Seems like a family run business, but if business is slow, they don't all need to be there sitting around and doing nothing.Even with the correct food order, the quality was average at best.

What lovely people running this pleasant little place, nothing is too much trouble.We had the best full english breakfasts and gorgeous coffee.It was that good we went there both days it was delightful.Short walk from the travelodge.It closes late afternoon around 4 or 5 I think.Well worth a visit.

Me and my two children came here for lunch today.. I got the beef lasagne that was terrible.. I couldn't eat it as It was disguisting.. 15 for 3 of us with drinks isn't bad kids enjoyed there food

My wife and I had never visited this Cafe/Restaurant but our lunch stared on a good note when the door was opened for us as we approached it. The Cafe is nicely decorated and plenty of space between the tables, the toilet as also vey clean.My wife ordered vegetable lasagna which she said was delicious, it came with chips which were also vey tasty, I know because I ate most of them with my chicken curry, which I ordered with Rice and was also excellent. The portions served were generous but they tasted so good we managed to clean the plates The bill came to less than £15 that also included a cappuccino.

I called in for a quick breakfast the service was very fast and friendly the food was good and the coffee was wonderful! Decor is basic but it's also inexpensive.

Called in for lunch totally on the spur of the moment and unresearched because I had some time to kill. Was very tempted by the Lasagne and opted for it. Very nicely presented and was definitely homemade.Good portion size and a lot of meat in the sauce.Couldn't believe that they were able to offer it at the price they did.

A very friendly place, very good food, alas the day we visited, there was only us and one other there, so no atmosphere., on the one other day we tried to have dinner here, it was shut.

My family had a excellent lunch here while touring North Wales. The prices were good and the food was good quality. We were served quickly and professionally.

We were going to the station restaurant but because our lads had jogging bottoms on couldn’t but glad we didn’t now. Had a lovely Sunday dinner here at the olive tree great service. Would really recommend lovely food

Friendly café nothing too much trouble, very tasty. Lovely and clean and no background music so you can have a conversation. Excellent menu choices and reasonable.

Again I had to ask what the meat was, after trying to evade my questions I finally got the answer all Halal, but no alternatives for non Halal eaters!

We arrived on a Sunday for brunch. A few customers but not too busy. the waiter brought over the menu. Initial impressions were of a basic cafe - breakfasts and run of the mill lunch stuff. The identikit picture on the front of the menu really doesn't do justice to what they are cooking. Tucked away are a few little gems of Mediterranean cooking.

Our group of 5 ladies....of mixed ages but all over 50,spent a lovely couple of hours in this small but homely café with the 'waiter' providing us with an ongoing 'comedy act'.

My better half & myself popped along to the glorious but unremitting Bay’s Olive Tree cafe for a little bit of brunch, thus hoping to avoid the local throng as it got busy, and we had a jolly good experience. What what what!

We had breakfast here .We were served very promptly and the food came quite quickly to the table. It was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of taste and quality. My wife was very disappointed with her cheese and onion toastie which was served with fried onions on it , which made it quite greasy. Good prices but we are not rushing back.

From the outside the Olive Tree looks a bit like a burger joint (and they do sell burgers) but they also offer a range of Mediterranean foods (Italian/Turkish), light meals and snacks such as sandwiches.

We popped in as it looked wheelchair accessible, which it was - one of few eateries on this road that was - and we enjoyed a late breakfast. I had the vegetarian breakfast and hubby had the carnivore’s breakfast. My veggie sausages looked home made and tasted very different to the usual ones. Quite yummy in fact! My eggs were runny - perfect! Hubby had to wait for his sausages, but the chef who brought them over was very apologetic. The breakfasts were accompanied by lovely coffee - tasted freshly ground.

We stopped here for breakfast on our journey along the Llyn Peninsula. Very clean and tidy. Friendly staff, our order was taken promptly, the drinks arrived within a few minutes and the bacon and egg rolls followed shortly after. The drinks were piping hot, the bacon and egg rolls crammed full of lovely crispy bacon. All very tasty and good value for money.

we visited the Olive Tree again a few days ago,had great, friendly service and well cooked food.i had the olive tree special omelette, hubby had the full breakfast,both beautifully cooked..It was very busy, as usual, but the wait wasnt long.Toilets spotlessly clean as was the whole restaurant.they do a good menu ,suitable for everyone even a few veggie meals.Highly recommend.Also do childrens meals.cant fault them at all.

Vimos este lugar a principios de este año y estamos muy contentos de haberlo hecho! ! La comida es deliciosa, caliente, bien preparada. Personal son Turcos, como es el propietario amable. Impecablemente limpio, buena elección en el menú. Ahora nos vamos cada pocos meses, yendo de nuevo a principios de Sepember. A sólo 10 minutos como máximo a pie de la estación de tren justo arriba de la colina, la última a la izquierda en la esquina. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

La lasaña de verduras absolutamente precioso. . Y así son sus. patatas fritas! Bien merece una visita. No vayas a ningún otro sitio en la bahía de colwyn cuando nos visite.

Hemos iniciado en el Olive Tree una vez antes en otras visitas a la bahía de colwyn y disfrutamos de buena comida deliciosa a un precio razonable. Siempre es un poco una apuesta que una segunda visita a un lugar nunca es tan buena como la primera, pero en esta ocasión no nos decepcionó. Tuve lasaña y patatas fritas, mi marido disfrutó steak sobresaliente y mi hermana y cuñado había pescado y patatas fritas. Todas nuestras comidas eran muy bien presentado y muy sabroso. El servicio fue rápido y nuestro camarero era un hombre encantador con un sentido del humor delicioso. Recomendaría este surtido si buscas una comida agradable que no romper el banco. Que comemos allí de nuevo la próxima vez que estemos vositimg Bahía colwyn.

He visitedthis lugar en varias ocasiones y siempre me pareció que la comida era muy buena y de precio razonable y el personal agradable. Por desgracia, en mi reciente visita fue decepcionante. Cuando llegué allí, encontré una mesa fácilmente, ya que no había nadie más allí aparte de alguien que pague para una comida y a punto de salir. Me senté en mi mesa por un rato y miramos el menú y decidir lo que pides, y esperaba que la camarera tomara mi pedido cuando habían terminado de limpiar una mesa recientemente desocupado. Entonces, dos personas vinieron y nos sentamos en otra mesa. La camarera vino a ellos y conversó con ellos durante un rato y luego tomó su orden. Me parece especialmente molesto que los clientes no se sirven en el orden en que las entras en el edificio. Si el café hubiera estado completo, podía entender esta sucediendo, pero realmente no había excusa para esto cuando sólo había dos mesas esperando servicio. En este punto decidí dejar sin pedir una comida, ya estaba preparado para esperar más. Que realmente necesita para solucionar este asunto, de lo contrario no se pierden más personalizados.

I almost walked past this unassuming cafe. It looks like a typical little town caf, but take a chance, go in for lunch and order something, you won't be disappointed. We ordered meatballs, a mixed grill and a fish and chips. I was not expecting what came. The meatballs were amazing, large balls of spiced lamb on a pita. It tasted like Turkish inspired food maybe. Seriously amazing. The mixed grill was four small kebabs, each one different. The flavours and spicing were so fantastic. And the chips were perfect and crispy. The price is really good value. I'm glad i didn't choose a burger or breakfast and instead chose meatballs and the kebabs. I would go back there for those meatballs alone. Even my rather fussy children devoured the meatballs. And they got lollipops afterwards. Everyone is very friendly and food didn't take long to arrive. If you are looking for lunch and see this little gem of a place, take a risk. Go in an order some meatballs or something. You wont be disappointed.

Total waste of money. I didn't think it was possible to massacre a simple offering . The eggs were fried to a frazzle on soggy toast . Ghastly ! The young waitress agreed with me but said the proprietors didn't care. I complained to him . He simply ignored my comment and said goodbye. Simply dreadful! A complete waste of money.

Never known anything like it! My partner and I ordered a breakfast bap each to pick up, what we received was two foam boxes full of all the items randomly put in the box and filled with a massive amount of ketchup and brown sauce AROUND and UNDERNEATH the entire sandwich so the entire bun was soaked in sauce which had mushrooms floating in it because they had not put them in the sandwich instead mixed them in with the sea of sauce inside the box. We tried to get the sandwiches out and reconstruct them but they were impossible to eat, and when we finally gave up and tried eating the mess with a knife and fork, the eggs tasted so much of bleach that I was physically ill, think they cleaned the fryer but didn't clean off the cleaning product. The whole experience was a disaster, after spending good money on what we thought was going to be a nice treat, ended up going in the bin, and causing massively upset stomachs. Would not recommend until they improve their kitchen staff. Nightmare.

I visited the olive tree a while ago and was very impressed, so went for breakfast this morning, the small breakfast is £4.90 and it was huge, egg bacon sausage hash brown mushrooms beans toast and any tea or coffee for £4.90 and it was excellent. Every cafe I have been to serves basic tea or coffee in the special breakfast, here the espresso and Americano is included, they heat my espresso cup,up first and it's a full cup! Owners very pleasant. Highly recommend this cafe , can't miss it, top of station road, intend to return for a lunch meal next, all very reasonably priced, give it a go, you won't be disappointed

Came here for the second time recently with my 2 little girls. I had a breakfast and they had omelette and a kids sausage and chips. Food cooked to perfection, was very tasty and very reasonably priced, and the girls got a lollipop each on the way out. Worth noting that the staff are always friendly and always smiling. Will definitely be back.

My usual breakfast cafe has gone down hill...Thought I would give The Olive Tree a try.....Had an enjoyable breakfast with a filter coffee....Delightful food which was well presented....Friendly staff...Large clean cafe/eating area....Recommended

My young family and I ate breakfast here twice recently whilst being away for a festive week on holiday in the town and both visits we thought it was excellent and great value for money..The young waiter was very friendly, good with the kids and his service was excellent.. The food too was very good and prompt also.. the cooked breakfasts were superb, as were the omelettes.. Good location too as very near to all the shops in the centre.. we will return I am sure..

I enjoy a snack here when shopping in town. I particularly like their take on EGGS BENEDICT served on a toasted bun. The service is friendly and prices are competitive!

First visit to Colwyn Bay 4 pensioners. Found the staff very polite and friendly. A good selection of meals, delivered to us piping hot this was a very pleasant experience.

This is a good stopping point for a reasonably priced meal and there is a range of meals which are carefully prepared. My son had a BLT and the garnish was beautiful so clear pride by the staff to present a really tasty dish.

Myself and my husband went for lunch. What a fabulous, good value for money restaurant/cafe it is. The food is superb. We were very surprised at the menu. All cooked fresh while you wait and generous portions. Staff are lovely and friendly. We will definitely be eating there again.

What a surprise this cafe is! It is so unassuming from the outside but the food and service were superb for a fab price bracket! We will definitely be going here again, absolutely recommended :) ps. Eggs benedict =stunning presentation and flavour!

Visited on a Sunday afternoon after a day at the beach while visiting on holiday. Didn't fancy a meal as such so myself, my husband and children decided to have a drink and cake each. I chose the latte and a scone, each were beautifully presented and the scone was absolutely amazing, tasted fresh, undoubtedly homemade. My husband had welshcakes, they were equally mouthwatering, homemade, fresh and he said he could have eaten more! Children had soft drinks and chocolate fudge cake and apple pie and custard, all of which were beautifully presented and fresh and tasty. Staff were welcoming, attentive and patient with our youngest who has learning difficulties and wouldn't speak to the server when spoken to. Prices were very reasonable and the children were given lollipops as we left. Would definitely recommend the Olive Tree, my only regret was not having chance to go back for a full meal before we came home!

I had a breakfast with my friends and it was absolutely amazing and the staff is very friendly and the hospitality was perfect nothing to say I would love to come here again highly recommended
