Excellent chocolate ice cream, great location with a view over the harbour, clean and tidy, friendly staff. Rather average, bland coffee.

The Old Pier has a great selection of teas, coffees, cakes and toasted baguettes, all at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the service was prompt and efficient. The cafe itself is situated in the most attractive part of Stonehaven, with a fabulous view out across the harbour. Just be aware that the only indoor seating is located upstairs.

Great service, great food, and a balcony view over the harbour. Can't ask for more.

Lovely place for a meal or snack. Good views from upstairs sitting area. Lots of people doing takeout to sit on the harbour seating.

Cozy, good food, friendly people

The cafe' faces the historical harbour, with a fantastic Seaview. In addition, the wooden and cosy environment, coupled with delicious pastries and hot chocolate, makes your experience quite remarkable. We will come back!!!

Busy and friendly place with the best view in Stonehaven. We were visiting Stonehaven for a short break and spent two sunny afternoons looking over the harbour enjoying delicious, good-value ice cream and coffee.

Vegan ice-cream was lovely. Very smooth and coconuty. They had two sorbets and two ice-cream options for vegans. Would highly recommend 👌

Just what you need to get you started when you arrive in Stonehaven. PS. When you don't sell ice coffee you could serve 60ml shot over a scoop of an ice cream.

Super friendly staff! Just had a coffee and blueberry pastry. Took it upstairs and was able to sit out on their little terrace which as the nicest view of the waterfront.

Popped in for a coffee ☕️ and cake 🎂 whilst exploring the local area.

Been here several times with intention of chatting and having several coffees. Seating is upstairs and order and cash desk are downstairs as you come in. Thing is that this facility also has to deal with the take-away service of drinks, ice cream etc and a queue builds up. Irrespective of whether you are sitting in or using take-away you join the same queue which can be out on the street. This can be annoying enough for the first order but for further orders it feels totally inappropriate. The staff are very pleasant and the coffees are quite acceptable but those running the business really need to find a solution to the above issue in my opinion. I know one of my friends suggested we have a look for alternative venues next time we meet, which is a shame as otherwise a great location and ambience. On an earlier visit (ie not June) I mentioned to above issue which I described as "not working for the sitting in customers" to which I was given the reply "Oh well it works for us". I'm not often lost for words.! Nearly a very good little coffee shop.

Le croque monsieur était un vrai délice, je me suis vraiment régalée. Le cappuccino aussi était parfait. Les serveurs sont souriants, sympathiques et efficaces. Il y a une jolie vue sur le petit port. Parfait.

This was a great spot at the Stonehaven harbour. Despite it being bustling, service and food delivery were quick and efficient. Seating available upstairs and free WiFi. Would definitely return.

Great location and beautiful Pretzel pastry. The lad and girl behind the ice cream counter/till were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately today the atmosphere in the kitchen was noticeable in that the staff did not talk to each other once. The lady serving the coffees today was far more interested in trying to sort the music on her sound system than serving our coffees. We waited nearly ten minutes for coffees that should only have taken three or four - not surprisingly they were warm and not hot. She barely acknowledged us. Not impressed and very sadly we won't be back.

Really friendly cafe with a lovely atmosphere busy bit not crowded. Lots of vegan options (yay) including lovely vegan carrot cake.

Google search suggested this is dog friendly cafe but that is not correct. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area but only for food ordering downstairs. There is a bench outside to sit down. No bowl of water for dogs. Food are tasty and coffee is nice. Previously french owner but not anymore.

Truly marvelous food. A delicious selection, friendly and quick service. The location is right on the harbour with good seating upstairs. Also it has the best brownie I've had in years!

A firm favourite of mine, great selection of cakes and pastries, good range of coffee that’s always made to a high standard, ice creams are great if you want something cool. Plenty of seating inside and a sun trap terrace to sit out on and watch the world go by as you eat and drink, or if you don’t want to sit in then just order and they will bring it out to you so you can sit on the harbour wall. Staff always friendly, couldn’t really ask for more to be honest.

A warming bowl of broth and a toasted baguette was welcome after a chilly walk around Stonehaven bay. The addition of a delicious brownie plus mint tea rounded off a perfect lunch. The bill was just over £20, with soup being £7. Prices everywhere have gone up so I guess that's just to be expected these days. The quality of the food is high and it is an occasional treat, so I don't resent paying for it.

What a gem of a coffee house! Nestled on the beautiful little harbour, serving excellent coffee and seriously impressive cakes and pasties. Also had a baguette which was superb. Everything was made with real care and attention, great flavour combos. Bakewell slice was absolutely insanely good. Cosy space upstairs to sit in too.

The food is delicious- really good. But the staff at the checkout?! Oof- they barely pay attention- regularly get the orders wrong and then and really quite rude about it. Big attitude issues! One more shot and then we won’t be bothering to go back.

I ordered the soup and sandwich Combo, not noticing it was for takeaway only. I was charged £15 which was the price of the soup, £7, and sandwich, £8 which is pretty high prices anyway. My 'combo'arrived which was the soup and sandwich on the side. I noticed that all other diners soup came with bread and all sandwiches with coleslaw, I got neither having paid the same price for the items as them. I pointed this out to the person on the till as I ordered my coffee and desert, she completely ignored my query, and gave no apology. When I asked if she was going to acknowledge my complain she mumbles that she would inform her manager. I left 1/2 hour later with no apology and no feedback. Terrible customer relations, pricey average food - I will not go back.

Hope the prices revert to normal after the holiday season

Nice place, good coffee, great cake and pastry. Not particularly child friendly despite having a high chair. Don't think staff are particularly accustomed to having regular young customers. They weren't the friendliest and a bit rude towards the end of our visit.

Top notch customer service from the tall young lad serving us. Soya cappuccino with cinnamon was a great suggestion. Nice location and seats inside even on a busy day. Lovely view over the harbour. Sustainable bamboo cups. Great choice for a coffee break

On my 1st visit to Scotland we stayed in a flat 3 doors away from here. We had bacon sandwiches for breakfast and lovely soup for lunch. One evening we had beef bourguignon which was quite delicious 😋 with a selection of their most yummy cakes 😆 Definitely a place to visit if you are nearby, the staff are lovely and friendly 👍

We went to The Old Pier Coffee House after a walk to and from Dunnotar Castle. Lovely fresh sandwiches, good coffee and nice ice cream with a pleasant sitting area upstairs. And the food is served quickly. Very convenient when visiting Stonehaven Harbour and not a lot of competition on the coffee shop front.

Best cortado I have had for a long time (apart from my own of course). Few places can steam milk properly, but these guys are professionals.

Dropped in here after walking out of another place near the harbour. We were warmly greeted and quickly had out order taken. Seating is on the first floor and we were lucky enough to get the balcony table that looks across the harbour. When it came the food was great, well presented and good value. As far as I could see it was soft drinks only but that was okay with us. Thoroughly recommended for those wanting a nice meal.

Very disappointed in this place. I had read a Tripadvisor review saying that it was dog - friendly, without noting that the review was 2 years old. We arrived for lunch and got a table, to be very rudely asked if our dog was an assistance dog, and when we said no, we were told in no uncertain terms to leave. I know that we were in the wrong, but the woman’s attitude was appalling. I’m originally from Stonehaven, and am back there regularly, but I will never go back to the Old Pier on account of the manner of this member of staff. Politeness costs nothing…………

They don't accommodate dogs at all downstairs now . So save yourself the disappointment

Very disappointed to be served our lunches today in a paper bag, a cardboard box and our drinks in disposable cups despite eating in. The food was ok but the price tag was on the pricey side for what it is and despite menu stating...

Must try the turkey-pastrami baguettes. They are absolutely delicious. The best thing I have eaten for ages. As prices go not the cheapest take away sandwich. They are huge and very tasty. Very much value for money.

Amazing staff, all were so friendly and helpful. We left feeling like we had made friends, if only for an afternoon. Thank you so much. Location is terrific, right on the harbor. It has lovely views out over the harbor, including the fishing boats tied up to the seawall and the classic buildings that wrap around the harbor. If your are lucky enough to good weather and it's available, there is one small bistro table on their balcony that would be the perfect location. Sadly, there is a construction project in the harbor this summer and it is too noisy to sit outside. There is bar-height table at the window as well. Food was excellent. Staff recommendations were spot on. Our daughter is very picky and they came up with an "off menu" sandwich option for her with a baguette and red Leicester cheese. She was SO happy and grateful.

We had just come off of a boat trip and the sea air had made us hungry so ducked in here for a panini. The one we chose was delicious, it had salami, Oakwood cheese gherkin and spinach all toasted so the flavours melted together....

I usually don't write bad reviews, but for the price they charge, they sold us stale pastries and it was in the morning when you expect them to be fresh. Totally dissatisfied with such attitude to the customers.

Sadly I don't eat that fast so the food was getting cold before we started 😕 sorry for the moan. Apart from that fantastic place to have a drink, food & watch the world go by 😊👍

We parked our car in the harbour car park which was free! And walked along the harbour wall and stopped for a coffee at The Old Pier Coffee House. We were lucky enough to sit on the small balcony overlooking the harbour. We didn't wait...

A cute coffeeshop right on the pier with good coffee and a solid selection of pastries. I had their granola bar, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it was satisfying! My husband also got ice cream for breakfast, so it was a good day :)

What a gem of a place! We stumbled upon it by accident & were fortunate enough to get the balcony table upstairs & take in views of the gorgeous wee harbour. Food & service were excellent, would highly recommend!

Special note on the crockery as well, the coffee cups and plates were rustic/funky!
