Finally had a chance to try this well reviewed restaurant despite not having a booking for Sunday dinner Staff were warm, friendly and gave us a chance to peruse the menu. Cannot fault the food and service. will most definitely go again and try week day menu.

Went for a special meal and was so disappointed. I booked the table and it asked to choose a menu. We asked to the classic menu and the choice sounded lovely. 2 course £25 and 3 course £30. When we got there the menu had four choices on it. No starters and no desserts on the classic menu as on their website. We choose steak which was just “ok”. Pleasant staff but will not be back. Prices on the other menu were very expensive. £12 - £14 for starters and desserts like sticky toffee pudding!!!

As regular customers, we often overlook the reason we as a family return so frequently. We have dined on different days, varying menus, ages from 3 - 85, and we are yet to receive anything other than a flawless meal. Starters, mains and deserts are immaculately presented with the taste to match the presentation. The staff treat customers as if they’re family, genuinely interested in ensuring that the user experience is consistent perfection. Whether passing by or a special occasion, I cannot recommend The Hearth enough.

Went in for dinner to try their al la carte menu and it was simply superb! The produce was sourced from small suppliers and the Chef created magic with it. Service was a 10/10, no complaints. All in all wonderful and you must visit.

I rated this establishment 2 stars because, we had booked a table for 7 adults. We all said that the menu was very pricey, but we as a family said if the food is good and the portions are good we don’t mind paying the price, however. Prawn cocktail was in a small wine glass, with lettuce and sauce and a ring of lemon slapped in the middle. ( baby portion) Remembering if they had a proper chef, surely they would give a bigger glass with more salad, and the old traditional bread and butter with it. Main course roast beef , also very small, beef very good, however Yorkshire pudding was like a flat pancake and full of grease. Roast potato , was burnt as was the oven roasted carrot, which was cut in three bits. That was it. We decided to have a dessert as we were still hungry. Dessert was nice, but a scoop of ice cream means a scoop not just a run across the top of ice cream, again small portions. Sorry we won’t be back. Poor food with high prices.

We ate here Easter Sunday, the menu is extensive but was put off by the excessive prices for starters and desserts - soup was £11 as the cheapest option and desserts started at £10 which is a good bit more than we’ve experienced when eating out. The mains were on par with Roast Beef £24, which was absolutely delicious. The veg cooked to perfection (roast potatoes were so good) and the gravy very rich. We weren’t drinking alcohol but a large red around £10 from what we could see. Staff friendly and welcoming although would have been nice if the waitress hadn’t stood outside the window beside us smoking. Would go back for the Sunday roast but price point wise for starters/desserts we would just be having a main course.

If you are a vegetarian do not darken this establishment's door. I was due to go to this restaurant soon for a family get together but phoned to ask what the vegetarian option was in advance. I was told it was pea rissoto with parmesan crisps when I pointed out that parmesan is not vegetarian (what is a chef doing serving that as the vegetarian option in the first place for goodness sake!) I was told that, it is fine you do not need to have the parmesan crisps. So in other words the vegetarian option is peas and rice. Enough said.

I visited Hearth while travelling to Scotland on holiday. Going by the reviews we decided to give this restaurant a try as it seemed very different to the others located in its vicinity. All we can say is, we are so glad we found this treasure. From the moment you enter, you are greeted with warmth and professionalism. We were seated at a lovely table by the fire place which set the tone right for a fabulous evening. We tried the Mussels and Scotch egg as starters, followed by mains of the Deer and Cod. First off, you could tell the produce was fresh and so locally sourced. At Hearth, you eat with your eyes first. The food was visually stunning but also packed with bundles of flavour. The ambience is very quirky and the decor very tasteful. What we also appreciated was that the tables were so well spaced out that you get a feeling of very intimate dining with very attentive and unobtrusive service. Overall, it was a very memorable dining experience. If you are looking for an exceptional food and service, look no further and visit this restaurant, mind you, you will need to book as they are busy!

My wife and I visited this restaurant as the place we were staying at, highly recommended it to us. Hearth is what is says it is, Scottish food with a bit of fun. We did three courses along with lovely glasses of wine with each course. The service was personalised, attentive and we particularly enjoyed Leena’s knowledge in food and wine. The food was beautiful not just to look at but also to taste. Thank you to the entire team for such an exceptional evening. Highly recommend Hearth!

At the outset, this establishment is clearly doing something right when 80% of reviews are very good to excellent. However, no matter how good a place may be, very few establishments get everything right every time, and unfortunately, this is one of those times. As noted on Trip Adviser, the establishment doesn't appear to be receptive to criticism in any shape or form. For the avoidance of doubt, this post has been written as constructive in nature and for the benefit of the establishment and future guests. ********************************** We booked a belated Mothers Day lunch for my wife and two children. This was our first visit. Our table was booked at 2 pm with a return time for the table at 3.30 pm. We arrived at 1.50pm and were met by a woman who didn't even say hello or welcome, simply "This is your table, and we can't see you until 2 pm." The scene had been set, and we later found out that this woman was the owner! Constructive Feedback: A warm, friendly, personalised welcome to guests helps build rapport, enhances the guest experience, and maximises the chances of the guest visiting again. You only get one chance to make a first impression. ********************************** At 2 p.m., menus were provided, and our drinks order was taken shortly after. Despite some items not being available, the drinks were served quickly. We ordered 1 mussels for starter, followed by 2 beef brisket and 2 children's burgers. At 2.40pm, 25 minutes after our order had been taken, we tried to enquire the whereabouts of our mussels. I asked the man behind the bar, who quickly scuttled off into the kitchen. Ten minutes later, the waitress informed us that the chef had "missed" the mussels from our order, and they'd be out in 10 minutes. This was unacceptable, so we cancelled the mussels and asked for the main courses to be served as we had two hungry children. At 3.05pm, there was still no sign of our food, and I managed to capture the (one and only) waitress to get an update on our main courses. She was very apologetic if not looking somewhat defeated by the whole situation and said they'd be with us very soon. I asked to speak to the owner, but was informed she was on a call trying to obtain a head chef(!) - whilst the operation was sinking faster than the Titanic. The man behind the bar (who I believe is also one of the owners) came to our table to let us know our meals were 45 seconds away, leaving us slighlty more informed but also leaving us with the very unpleasant lingering smell of cigarette smoke! Constructive Feedback: Clearly, there were operational issues, so rather than ignore guests and hope that the situation will miraculously sort itself out, it might be worth considering a more honest and transparent guest policy. This also allows customers to make an informed decision. In addition, taking the drinks off the bill for waiting over an hour is generaly best practice as is offering another drink on the house. Some bread or nibbles might have also been an idea? In short, communicate to guests as most are sympathetic when issues arise. ********************************** Our meals eventually arrived at 3.15pm (leaving 15 minutes left by the restaurants booking policy). There were two generous pieces of brisket and the beef and the accompanying gravy was very good. Unfortunately, the yorkshire puddings were doughy and not cooked properly. The meal had one small piece of broccoli, half a dozen small pieces of carrot, and a roast pototo. As a result, we were left with a lovely piece of beef with no vegetables or potato. The children had no complaints about their burgers. We ordered 2 adult sticky toffee pudding (£10.50 each) and a kids sticky toffee pudding. They arrived quickly and were adequate but nowhere near justifying the price for what it was. Constructive Feedback: Having a rosette is all well and good. However, value for money and price charged need to reflect not only the type of food being served but level of service and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. ********************************** I have already acknowledged that this establishment must be doing something right most of the time. We clearly got them on a very bad day, and this is refective of the 2 stars. I am not saying this is a 2 star establishment. The restaurant took off the cost of the main courses from our bill due to the wait time. However, they charged us for the drinks, presumably because we never had to wait for them! Desserts were charged for, which we had no issues with, but in our professional opinion thought, they were overpriced. In summary, the visit was all a bit shambolic, and it wasn't clear to us who was in control, so it was not a pleasant experience. The owner mentioned the kitchen being a man down, but they served 4 times as many people the week before without issue. All well and good. It could have been made so much better, had the owner(s) led from the front, and done a few things differently. Engaging with the customer and letting people know what is going on when there are operational issues and showing some goodwill usually goes a long way, and the majority of people are usually sympathic. Every restaurant survives through the customer lifetime value. It is a pity that the owners either couldn't acknowledge or understand this. As the title goes, feedback is the breakfast of champions, but I'm not so sure that this will be greatly received.

We were given a warm welcome from the 'front of house' person who looked after us very well for our visit. The decor was classy and we ordered from the 'modern classics menu'. The food was nice but must say overpriced-prices were akin to city prices-£10 for a starter, £20 for a main course and around £12 for a dessert, £7 for a beer- really?! If the prices were reduced then perhaps the footfall would be more? Perhaps they are aiming for a different clientele but an empty restaurant is not a good sign. Feel this kind of restaurant would be better suited to Inverness/Aberdeen not Brodie. I would also say that the road in needs attention-full of potholes. Given the prices we are unlikely to return unfortunately and would not really recommend to anyone in the area.

We went in for the festive lunch last Sunday. We were welcomed by Leena whose service throughout the afternoon was warm and friendly. We indulged ourselves with 3 courses from their lunch menu. We both started with the Prawn cocktail and Chicken Liver Parfait which were excellent. Followed by the traditional roast turkey, which was great with all the trimmings. I finished off with the Yule log, which did not just look very festive but was an absolute delight, my partner had sticky toffee which looked and tasted incredibly good. This restaurant is a wee gem tucked away and an absolute delight from start to finish.

My friend had chosen this eatery for a pre Christmas treat. Sadly the food was dire and as she had organised the booking I didn't want to say anything so ate what I could. I ordered brisket. Firstly the entire plate of food was luke warm. The beef was tender but frankly it was so totally tasteless. The "duck fat roasted potatoes" were smooth, pale brown, lightly roasted and had no hint of being cooked in duck fat. The Yoorkshire pudding was risen, burnt on the bottom and doughy and partially raw inside. The broccoli florets were mostly stem, which you would have needed a steak knife to cut. The sprouts may have been fine, but I gave them a swerve. The carrots were edible, but tasted of nothing again. The gravy served nicely in a little copper pot was pale brown, very thin and again luke warm and lacking any strength of taste of anything. It really was poor given the price of £21.00. The desert of a Yule Log priced at £10.50 and arrived standing up! I even commented to the smiley waitress that she had a good job getting it to the table without it falling over! It was a slice of recently frozen, mass produced cake. A half inch thick slice of the sweetest most unpleasantly artificial tasting cake I have the misfortune to be served in many years. It was accomanied by the equivalent of two teaspoons of amaretto cream and what was supposed to be a small scoop of ice cream. However the scoop was actually hollow and melted into a puddle shortly after. Then to add insult to injury some weird form of tiny hard hundreds and thousands had been sprinkled over the top. Again I said nothing and did eat some of it, but only because I knew I was paying through the nose for it. Goodness this place is lovely to walk into and the staff we encountered were really attentive and pleasant. However, if they are going to produce food of that quality every day then I would not recommend. Currently they are over promising and undelivering on the quality of their food which is also not value for money.

We booked for Sunday lunch and were given a 1.5 hour time slot. The restaurant has been given a complete revamp with the decor and everthing looked very festive and sparkly. Unfortunately that was the nicest thing about the lunch. The food was pretty awful. I had turkey my friend had the beef. I think the veg were frozen the “goose fat” potatoes were tasteless and the turkey was a bit watery. My friend said the beef was also tasteless. The dessert was appalling (although I did eat it) thin slice of frozen Yule log tiny scoop of icecream similar tiny squirt of cream then some sort of hard hundreds and thousand on the plate. Not value for money at £10.50 main dishes £21 Would not recommend the food here if this is normal standard. Expensive and poor quality 🙈

With great delight we visited Hearth again on Friday for dinner and was warmly welcomed. With difficulty we made our choice as everything on the menu was so appealing. We chose Trout with trout mouse, potatoe salad and pickled cucumber my husband said it was delightful. I had belly pork which was sweet, juicy, crispy and came with a pairing of buttery mash delicious redcurrant glaze which suited it very well. For mains we went with two favourites Biriyani Arancini always delicious but the coconut curry sauce seemed even more sumptuous if possible as was the crispy potatoes with salsa. Also Roe and Red dear a bit different this time with an inspired pairing of blueberry and bramble sauce with a hint of dark chocolate (I know! but it so works). We were pretty full by this time but dessert it would be rude not to. To eager to get into them I forgot my photos but take it from me the Mango lassi with panna cotta and apple tart with cinnamon custard were as tasty as they were beautiful. The staff here are friendly and attentive but so unobtrusive. Sophie and David give you a lovely dining experience here we're so luck to have Hearth. Congratulations to them and their team they so deserve any accolade that cones their way. Highly recommended, can't wait to be back.

Visited with a few friends as part of a dinner club. Lovely setting with a great ambience and welcoming staff. This is a restaurant that is clearly living in the shadow of its AA Rosette and is charging obscene prices for what I would class as average food. Pork Belly was the starter and to say it was unimaginative would be an understatement. A chewy section of pork belly was accompanied with a berry style compote and decorative swirl of mashed potato. If you’re after a crispy piece of pork crackling and a succulent layer of fatty pork meat then you’ll be disappointed. Instead you’ll be welcomed with a chewy section of pork that hadn’t been cooked low and slow, failing to render the fat and crisp the skin. The table then had mains of a burger and steak. The burger, whilst averagely priced these days, tasted okay and was well accompanied with classic burger dressings such as a slice of gherkin and some burger sauce. With it you get a poorly sized portion of chips that leaves you wanting, contributing to a very lacklustre plate of food. A small section of dressed salad leaves wouldn’t go amiss here to make the plate more presentable. The steak was a poorly selected cut of meat that for a whopping great sum of £32.50 left a lot to be desired. The chefs ability to perfectly cook this to the desired taste adds nothing if the cut is poor and the table found themselves with chewy sirloin steaks that were not on par with the fee demanded. Accompaniments are aplenty but if you want the privilege of adding a sauce you need to add another £4 to the price of an already expensive steak. The whiskey sauce was nothing more than a bland, off coloured bechamel with no taste of whiskey or mustard coming through. Certainly not a plate worth just shy of £40. The overall impression of the first two courses left the table in a position where nobody wanted any dessert out of fear it wouldn’t deliver. The staff and ambience are great but the food failed to deliver on this occasion. A shame for a restaurant that displays its AA rosettes with pride. The AA rosette clearly isn’t what it used to be.

We stayed three nights, two of them with my niece and her husband, both Londoners with pretty developed experience and taste in matters of travel and food. We all loved the place and the warm welcome and thoughtful attention. Our rooms were nice, the beds very comfortable. The breakfasts are a winner, with three lovely choices, each a great way to start. For us, though, the star was the night we celebrated my wife Jeanne’s 81st birthday with a special dinner. The food was fabulous, with the vegetarian among us beautifully catered to and all of it - from starters to dessert - top class ... the chefs here are seriously good. The family treated us to a bottle of really good champagne which launched our exploration of their curated list of local single malts (the Benromach 21 sent us on an exploration in the nearby distillery a day later). In between we took in Macbeth’s hangout, the Cawdor Castle. Was hard to leave the Inn, the McLeans, the area. Bless you guys, may you prosper … we hope we make it back come time.

We had a lovely meal in here last night. There was only one sticky chilli chicken left unfortunately so we ordered the fish and chips too and split each meal. The sticky chilli chicken was very good. The piece of fish I tried I didn’t enjoy as much as the chicken We were both driving so had the elderflower mocktail which was beautiful and we both had two. We were too full up for desert but they all sounded tasty Staff were very pleasant and attentive and we had a lovely evening in beautiful surroundings

Recently refurbished with very tastefully decorated bedrooms, bar and dining areas Food of the highest quality and great to see so much homemade fayre, using locally sourced ingredients. Just opening up after the long period of covid lockdown and certainly worth stopping by for a great variety of food and drinks as well as first class accommodation.

The place was empty we were in at 5.30pm food arrived, i had turkey dinner my wife had sticky chicken. My turkey was really dry and veg was hardly cooked, couldn't get my knife through sprouts or carrots. Solid. My wife's sticky chicken was way over salty and un edable. We complained after hardly eating anything. They gave us our meal for free not that i would of paid for it anyway it was well under par for the prices they are charging. 2nd time thats happened, happened last year but thought we would give it another go as pictures look nice but don't be fooled. We won't be back thats for sure. Terrible!!

Went last night and ordered large haddock supper single scampi two chips cheese curry sauce. Also a pickled onion. Waiting in queue the portions of food looked great getting boxed up for customers. Number 26 was called and we happily headed off to enjoy. Disaster! One not very large Haddock Supper! NO Scampi...another small single fish? NO pickled onion but a gherkin! Where did you guys get it wrong? Did you not understand Scottish? Or is it just another case of ripping off the tourist?

Our B&B host recommended the place so we give it a try. We started with the locally famous cullen skink that was one of the best we had in Scotland. My wife took the Scottish chicken and I went for the deep-fried Scottish prawns. Both were tasty and fine. Portions were generous so we skipped the dessert. Nice settings, friendly staff , reasonable prices.

I bought lunch here today and really wish I hadn’t bothered, the soup was supposed to be cream of mushroom but was anything but creamy. It was this with really large pieces of mushroom which were difficult to eat with a spoon. The cheese scone was a strange colour and had a really weird taste. It used to be a great place to eat but was sold recently and is to be avoided. I will not return!
