The Old Hall Inn in High Peak

We had a fab meal here! Staff were all fantastic and so attentive! The food was also amazing, we had the steaks and they were cooked perfectly! Would 100% recommend we will be coming back!

We stayed here in early October as a walking group when Dan came to our rescue when our original hotel had double booked us. I enjoyed it that much I decided to bring my wife and two of our friends here as it was our 10 year wedding anniversary. Yet again Dan and the team didn’t disappoint us. The spring cottage was lovely and quaint and so cozy. The meal we had in the evening was fantastic(I had the rump) as well as the breakfast. We enjoyed our stay here that Much we are looking to book for new years. Great team, great accommodation and great food. Thanks to Dan and the team.

Stayed last saturday night in Spring Cottage having completed a beautiful eight mile walk. The cottage was perfect to relax in with my two sons. We then had a superb meal in the dining room, where we were looked after by Will whose service throughout the evening was exemplary. All of the staff were very helpful. Thank you

After popping in for a drink the day before and watching the pizzas fly out we vowed to come back the next night. You can only Imagine our disappointment when we looked at the webpage and realised pizzas were not being served! However we booked in at the old hall and boy was it good. Very friendly staff looking after us who all seemed to have a great understanding of the menu. Lambs liver parfait with some of the best bread I have ever tasted (not too bad for a baker of 30+ years) to start with and a roast each to follow. Absolutely beautiful, great wine and beer to accompany the food. Quite simply a pleasure to eat there. Thankyou Old Hall, we will be back in the new year for the pizza!

A Very Rewarding Return Visit It isn't hard to understand how this place gets a Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor. Really good quality tasty food. We thoroughly enjoyed the steak. Couldn't manage a desserts. What a lovely experience. Would thoroughly recommend the THE OLD HALL INN , even if you only come for nibbles or a drink, as you will be welcomed. Very friendly and helpful staff and an owner. The menu was great - lots of delicious-sounding ideas.

Just left the hotel after 3night weekend stay, so sad to leave! Determined to come back with friends, from the moment we arrived to our departure we felt really well looked after by all the staff. The staff appear to be a very happy team and work very hard to give good service. The food is excellent. We enjoyed having plenty of time to chat, before and between courses.

So After a long uphill hike to win hill, it was such an exhausting endeavour and i was needing a proper english breakfast, well it wasnt just a breakfast it was delicious! James, Lynn and jess are absolutely wonderful breakfast team! FOOD IS SECOND TO NONE! DEFINITELY BE BACK! Great service. Lovely down to earth staff!

So after the young waitress asking how our food was and us responding that 2 out of 4 of us were very happy with our choices but complaining that the lambs liver was tough and drowned in sauce and had burnt flavour also that butternut squash risotto was vey dry, plates were cleared and nothing else mentioned. Both plates were less than half eaten. Then presented with the bill to which we asked had the chef been informed that we weren’t satisfied with the quality of the food? Young inexperienced waitresses was embarrassed and didn’t know how to respond. Original waitress appeared and said that “you gave it a good go so couldn’t be that bad “ Oh dear, need to invest in customer skill’s training. Reluctantly paid in full This place has seriously deteriorated

We stayed in the Paper Mill Inn annex for a family walking weekend. We couldn’t have had a better experience. The rooms were just what we needed, warm, snug and well-equipped. Breakfast was delicious, and the GPS route trackers provided for walks were an amazing extra. We were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff, who kept pizzas warm for us on our delayed journey up. We also had an excellent meal in The Old Hall Inn for dinner. The village and surrounding area are stunning, and the recommended walks gave us a real insight into the beauty of the Peak District. We are keen to visit again and explore more of the area.

Great location to kick start our week away. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. There was a decent selection of evening meals and various ales, ciders and lagers. The breakfast was fantastic! Super service and an interesting chat with the owner at the end of our stay, sharing amongst other things, some cycling routes of the area. If you fancy a jaunt before breakfast, the The Peak Forest Tramway Trail is a stones throw away.

Visited as a table of 10 a few weeks ago on a Sunday. Food was ok but nothing special; staters were nice but soup was over powered by pepper, one member of our party couldn’t even eat it. Had 9 roast dinners and a burger for mains, burger was good but roasts were all filled with luke warm vegetables. Desserts were impressive - sticky toffee pudding and a pie were delicious but the brownie wasn’t what we expected - fridge cold, but we should have checked if they were served warm or not. Wasn’t impressed by the 10% service charge; the service or food certainly wasn’t worth a £40 tip. We asked for this to be removed much to the disgruntled look of the waiter.

I don’t even know where to start on how Dan and his team helped us out at the last minute. Basically our hotel had double booked Dan came to the rescue. Literally couldn’t do enough for us. The accommodation was 2nd to none and the food was out of this world. Thank you so much for your help to Dan and the team.

Wonderful dinning room - old and traditional with amazing furniture. The food was brilliant and staff friendly and welcoming. Felt a really special place to enjoy a reunion with friends.

What a great place! Most recently we took some visiting American friends for dinner. We knew what we were doing. It's a lovely place. Inside is warm and cosy without feeling cramped. A couple of inns in the area have become more restaurant than pub. And the restaurants are fine.. but it means that the 'pub' areas can be pretty cramped. This place is big enough to be both pub and restaurant. Which means you can stop by for a drink. Outside, the beer garden area is just great on fine days because there is a lovely view of the building itself (v pretty) and the hills in the background. The food was great and the staff are super friendly. Our visiting friends just _loved_ it. We knew they would. We love it too. This Inn is well worth a visit for a drink or for dinner -- or both.
