The best little cafe in Wilmslow. A real gem. It ticks all the boxes such as a lovely friendly ambiance created by fab staff. I love the menu which always has a nice selection of specials. I’m a tea drinker usually but I can’t resist the coffee there, gorgeous. I also love having a good old mooch around the building to find all the lovely things for sale. Where they pick up such great items I have no idea but it’s great. Whether it’s just a coffee and cake or something more substantial, you’ll not be disappointed at The Old Garages.

Soooo good! What a gem of a place, beautifully done, with a great mix of styles, fun use of space and delightful interiors; loved the huge rattan light shades and soft, comfy velvet cushions. We had Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale, spot on runny poached eggs, proper tasty perfectly cooked crispy bacon and the best smoothest hollandaise sauce! Everthing includng the cappucino and flat white, and two freshly squeezed orange juices were delicious, totally made with care, expertise and the best ingredients. Want something exceptional, miles above the norm? Go here! We will be back.

Overpriced and trendy establishment. Great staff but menu is "meh". Went for a breakfast and the selection was limited and felt poorly instigated. I ordered the sausage and ficatchia and that's what I got. Two cheap sausages on dry bread. It felt as if meat eaters were being punished for daring to order something from the limited menu.

Well I travelled here because I liked the concept, wasn't what I thought unfortunately. The cups couldn't get any smaller (great for boiled egg) overpriced for what it was, cheesecake🫣like blancmange with NO flavour at all. Woman took away dirty dishes but didn't give tables a wipe🤯😷,no napkin given out with order. The atmosphere was AWFUL, closed at 4pm but they were cleaning the toilets and putting bins out at 3.20pm🤔💩 seriously made to feel not welcome. Music to loud, but not as loud as woman on till.....her voice echoed over the music and up into the rafters. Would NOT RETURN.... *All the seating was low, came up to your lower back* I think this was the plan so you don't stay long........ uncomfortable all round sadly....I hope this feedback makes people think.... P.s...clean your tables 🤯🫣 Hi Adam, Thanks for your reply, as you mentioned the table I sat at was huge,so if cleaned with a cloth it wouldn't have affected me in the slightest. I'd rather it be cleaned or myself being asked if okay to clean it. It wasn't just my table, I didn't see a cloth anytime I was there. I had spoken to the server over the cheesecake and about having doubts! I have worked myself in catering for many years and if that was me serving I would of checked on the customer to see if it was liked etc. yes I give feedback, I really appreciate people who go above and beyond, and make you feel welcome. Good service is rare these days so I always compliment when I receive it, and unfortunately if not great, then they get a lesser review. I understand over closing at 4, I can appreciate that everyone wants to go home, but it's not nice having the mop propped outside the toilet 30 minutes before closing time. All the best for the future 🙏

Nice little cafe, but they suffer from the wilmslow tax!! £4 for a small bottle of coke. Was going to eat but £9 for beans on toast is a nonsense. Service was excellent. Only down side was the cost, if they charged a sensible amount would eat there and return.

Definitely my favourite café in Wilmslow! Great coffees, great seating/interior/atmosphere & very friendly staff. My only wish is that you would stay open a bit later as 4pm is far too early. It really is a shame as I always see it still being busy by 4pm & think the café would still do so well if it stayed open later. Nonetheless a great place to come either to work or with friends.

What a nice place! We ate here on a rainy Sunday morning and it was a very cheerful experience to be surrounded by flaming log burners, friendly staff and great food. The focaccia was particularly light and tasty and made a pleasant change from the usual breakfast breads, though that’s probably because I’m a bit anti sourdough! We’ve driven by often and thought about popping in - very glad we did this time. Handy parking too.

Met somewhere here for a business meeting and have been here a few times before. The place looks great with friendly attentive staff and the food is amazing. So why 2 stars? Dogs. I like dogs but not where I am eating. There was a dog sitting at a table being fed from a plate. Two dogs on long leads barking. Another dog sitting on a seat. One of the waitresses even petted a dog and then carried on serving without washing her hands. I won’t be going back.

Lovely, treat-yourself cafe! This is a little bit of hipster London in Wilmslow! I love coming here for a coffee or brunch. Nice, light and airy feel to the seating arrangement. They also have a shop which appears to sell artwork and home decor things (I daren't go into the shop as it would be far too tempting). An example of a brunch I have purchased today was smoked salmon, focaccia, rocket and wedge of lemon and an iced coffee - it was lovely! At £11, I thought it was completely worth it! Lovely, kind staff too :)

Overall a nice lunch spot, but a disappointing amount of dietary choices lately. Previously they had a few gluten free options, including an amazing cake but this time round, nothing. As almost all of their choices contain bread, it wouldn't be costly for them to keep a loaf of gluten free bread on standby to be more inclusive.

Was recommended this place as family had been here before. We arrived as a group of 8 and were all very disappointed by the service and how rude the staff were towards us. We had asked for no egg with one of our dishes and it came with the egg regardless. The pastry on 2 of the goats cheese tarts was burnt to the point where we returned it. We asked for water about 3 times and when we were given it we were given 7 glasses and were told that would have to do for the 8 of us. The staff were obviously not trained in hospitality at all. When given some feedback after the meal there was no sincere apology but a sorry about that everytime something else was said.

I don’t normally add reviews but after my experience today (and reading some of the comments about child-friendliness) I wanted to share. My daughter was having a fairly epic toddler moment and Lucy, the waitress, could see I was flustered having to negotiate the stairs with a baby and a squirming toddler. After asking my permission, she instantly scooped up my toddler and expertly calmed her down whilst I paid up and even helped me get her into the pram too and out of the door. The young man behind the counter also couldn’t do more to help and offered to pour my daughter’s left over juice (the source of her irrational meltdown 😅) into a take out cup. Lucy’s kindness and understanding clearly made a huge impression on my daughter as she has kept mentioning her for the rest of the day. In short- great coffee, great food and most definitely child friendly!

My first visit, but I’ll be back. Tucked away, and not the obvious spot for a water hole, but you have to find it as you will not be disappointed. The young lady who greeted us served us through the visit, and she was charming, polite and attentive. I think her name was Ellen, but I’m sorry if that is wrong. She has only been working there a couple of weeks, but what an asset. The menu is varied, catering for veggies and vegans. I asked for an adaptation of a couple of things on the menu, and it was no trouble at all. The coffee was delicious, and as I only drink almond milk this is such a find. I’ve never had two cups on the trot, but I did here. Breakfast, light bites and lunch were all options on the menu, and the place was buzzing by mid morning.Parking is a problem as it is very limited, even if you manage to park you may be interrupted to move your vehicle, so my advice is try and park elsewhere, I parked in Sainsbury’s car park as it is only a short walk to the venue. Lots of places in Wilmslow to get a snack and a coffee, but this has a real family friendly feel to it and deserves to succeed. Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work

Absolutely delicious brunch meal. Came in with my mother, passing through Wilmslow. Coffee was excellent, served in a simple but high quality cup and saucer. Had a bacon roll, on italian bread with rosemary As i wanted to order the entire menu, i settled on adding roasted tomatoes and field mushrooms, making it into a perfect brunch/lunch amount and left feeling very satisfied. Really enjoyed looking round the quirky homeware department too. It was a sunny day with the option of eating in a courtyard type setting or just inside the open door (which we did) bonus to see the chef cooking! The owner is really friendly and welcoming and the waiting staff were efficient and pleasant too. Will definitely be returning for some more delicious food and lovely setting.

This is a modern, new cafe, attractively decorated and tucked away a few blocks from the centre of Wilmslow. First thing on a sunny Saturday morning, we had our choice of outdoor tables and a pleasant, peaceful setting to enjoy our breakfast in. There are two outside seating areas - a lawned area at the front and tables at the side, beside the car park. Especially appreciated during these Covid times. Second big tick is for the granola. Not enough cafes in this part of the world offer a tasty, healthy option like this on their breakfast menus so full marks to the Old Garages. Thirdly, the service was efficient and professional. Things came out in good time and were just as ordered. It’s a great spot to spend some time - by the time we left it was buzzing and a bit hectic, so if - like us - you prefer a calmer, relaxed setting, come early.

We attended for munch on 31st July 2021. Despite the place being almost empty, we waited 45 minutes for a burger and a salad.Far too long. The menu stated it was a further £2 to add chicken to my salad which I did. However wen I checked the bill I had been charged £3 for it. It is against consumer law to have one price displayed on the menu than to charge more. In addition I was charged 40p for a tiny jug of hot water for my tea! I have had many thousands of cups of tea in cafes and restaurants all over Britain. Never before have I been asked to pay extra for hot water. This business could do better to be more customer friendly.

Bit of a mixed bag. Had been keen to try for months but Covid got in the way. Always Hideous parking in Wilmslow anyway but where it’s situated is the worst area for parking so ended up in the multi story which is 5 mins walk away, during Covid no issue with getting a space but no chance in normal circumstances. Impressive and quirky building, love the concept but the food and particularly the service left a bit to be desired. A very different menu which is most welcome and my salmon salad was delicious, but my friends potato cakes turned up without any poached eggs or watercress or dressing and no-one seemed to have noticed this from the kitchen to the table. No apology for this either but was corrected after having to seriously flag for attention and wait for it to be finished with all the ingredients instead of half of them. The pot of decaf tea was not to my personal taste and both slices of cake were disappointing. Service very perfunctory from a mono syllabic server. However very Covid thorough and tables very well spread out and proper registering of diners so full marks there. Nice idea but think it needs a brush and polish on the service.

Not my best experience of eating in Knutsford, I like to be able to talk to my partner, sadly last night we could not. Not the best of service up stairs.

Food was ok, overpriced for the quality. The staff are fantastic, quick and polite.

No cask ales (all 3 were off) and no food so didnt drink or eat. To be fair the kitchen had had a leak but why not update their Facebook page to warn people?

Real ale served at incorrect temperature . Just not cold enough so will not be back . Quite pricey too though busy and nice place inside .

Once again a cracking meal at The Turnpike. Great prices, a very warm welcome from the family and overall a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
